241  Economy / Economics / Re: Is it true that 80% of the world's wealth in the hands of 20%? on: April 21, 2023, 01:09:18 PM
Very few government ministers are members of the wealthy elite. They are just the puppets iof the wealthy dynasties.
242  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as indestructible asset on: April 21, 2023, 07:45:28 AM
Very few people seem to understand how a virtual asset can be a hard asset. An example I give is a novel- the value is in the abstract sequence of words, and not the paper representation. Bitcoin is currently the only crypto that has a hard value, and this results from the coins released as a block reward, and the security and immutability of that block. No other crypto can manage this at the moment, but there is always a possibility that another could be created in the future. It would not destroy Bitcoin, but would liie alongside it in the way that platinum, silver and copper lie alongside gold. As long as man can communicate internationally, novels and Bitcoin will have real values.
243  Other / Meta / Re: Can we have Ignore option on topics, not boards, not users? on: April 20, 2023, 09:27:52 AM
I'd like to be able to ignore all threads with an all caps title. They always seem to be rubbish.
244  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is going down. on: April 20, 2023, 09:19:12 AM
In my opinion, all the reasons you give for not buying Bitcoin are the reasons you should be buying Bitcoin.
245  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Cryptocurrency Owners Become Insolvent? on: April 19, 2023, 08:54:11 AM
I guess that what people are trying to say is that you can conceal your Bitcoin if you become bankrupt. Then when your bankruptcy expired, you can start to use your Bitcoin if it hasn't been claimed by the receiver. Just bear in mind that that is usually illegal in most countries.
246  Other / Off-topic / Re: Prepare for the life when you get old on: April 15, 2023, 01:08:45 PM
You  only live once, so enjoy life. I'm 81 in June, and I've moved into a converted van. I have no money worries, and I can eat steak and salmon when I want to. I talk to people living in houses who sit under blankets because they can't afford heating, and complain because the cost of bread has gone up. Just make sure you are healthy, and can enjoy good food and sunshine in a stress free environment. Don't get into debt. If you can't afford it, don't buy it.
247  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: we don't have proper education on bitcoin. on: April 13, 2023, 06:51:33 AM
You don't need to understand the technology behind the operation of Bitcoin to appreciate its utility. You need an open mind. You need to realise that it is not a tool for the use of criminals, but a new method to exchange a real asset. You also need to understand that, although it is a virtual asset, it is also a hard asset. In fact it is more of a hard asset than owning property in England. Most people can't comprehend that. To realise the truth in my statement, just think what would happen if you built a house on "your" land without government permission. If the government wants your land for a road or a rail track, then it will just take it, and offer you below market compensation if you are lucky. So in reality in the modern world, owning a house is just owning a virtual asset - the government issued title to occupy the house, and not the physical building. Of course, I haven't mentioned fiat currencies, the biggest scam of all the virtual assets.

Isn't it time we stopped referring to the covid injections as "vaccinations". It is bringing beneficial vaccines into disrepute, and turning people away from the benefits of true vaccines that are used correctly.
249  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Madness of many! on: April 12, 2023, 03:07:34 PM
Politics is the art of manipulating the masses to further the interests of the puppet masters, and all the time you need to convince the sheeple that they have free choice in deciding to continue their subservience.
250  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Hunger and insecurity on: April 10, 2023, 02:38:48 PM
You can only be hungry if you live in the city. Once you move into the countryside, you are surrounded by healthy food, and it is all free.
251  Other / Meta / Re: Who is the oldest user among forum still active? on: April 10, 2023, 02:34:13 PM
I'm an omnivore. I even eat stinging nettles I've harvested from the fields. I don't eat minced ( ground ) beef or hamburgers, but I do enjoy a good steak. I don't et of cook with seed oils, but use butter, olive  and coconut oil. I swim in the sea naked, and try to keep busy. Alcohol is fine as long as you don't drink too much, and stick to good quality. Cheap alcohol doesn't do you any good.

I'm a Bitcoin maximalist, and I'm hoping to install a usb mining rig in the van. I'll try some solo mining. It probably won't make me anything, but it helps the network, and I may get lucky.
252  Other / Meta / Re: Who is the oldest user among forum still active? on: April 10, 2023, 09:52:20 AM

Do you want to find oldest user in real identity and still alive, still actively use the forum?
- It is Jet Cash. 79 today and still going strong in 2021.

Actually I'll be 81 in June this year. I'm still healthy, because I haven't been vaccinated or useing any medication. I've also become a digital nomad, and I'm converting a van for full time living while the "great reset" is happening.
253  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: America's first nuclear-powered bitcoin mining farm on: March 25, 2023, 04:11:22 PM
But hydropower looks more attractive.

Hydropower can be environmentally damaging. At the moment we have two major famines affecting agriculture and flora. Paradoxically one is carbon dioxide, and the other is water. Diverting water supplies can increase desertification, and make formerly arable land unmanageable. It can also lead to a reduction in rainfall, if trees and other components in the natural water cycle die.
254  Economy / Economics / Re: Cheap food: can you beat this price in your country? on: March 25, 2023, 02:47:11 PM
Asda ( a UK supermarket chain ) is offering vegetable or tomato soup, a roll and butter, and unlimited coffee for £1. ( $1.22 US ).
255  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Quoting sales prices in Bitcoin on: March 25, 2023, 02:38:05 PM

Generally what is a domain that costs more than 10K USD.

It's an aged 3 character .com.

The main point is that I don't mind if I don't sell the name, as I look on it as an investment. Fiat currencies are not investments in my opinion, but Bitcoin is. That is why I prefer to swop one investment for another, rather than accept fiat, and then try to work out what to do with it.
256  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Quoting sales prices in Bitcoin on: March 25, 2023, 09:42:38 AM
Yesterday I had an enquiry for the sale of one of my domain names, and I've provided a Bitcoin alternative to a Sterling price. I quoted £15,000 or 0.5 Bitcoin. Bitcoin is currently quoted at around £22,500, so the Bitcoin option is quite a bit cheaper. I decided to do this for 2 reasons. One is that I don't care about the volatility of Bitcoin, as I will save the proceeds ( if it sells ) rather than exchange it for Fiat. The other reason is that my belief is that Bitcoin is at the start of a slow bull run. This means that I will soon recover the difference if my opinion is correct. A more important reason also stems from the volatility. If the price drops, then the buyer gets the chance to save even more by paying in Bitcoin - this assumes that he will purchase the Bitcoin, rather than spending coins that he already has. If the price looks like increasing, then he will be under pressure to make an early purchase, as holding off will increase the price he will have to pay in Fiat terms.

Another obvious benefit comes from the international nature of .com domain names. I am in the UK, and I have a Sterling bank account. The buyer could be anywhere in the world, and is unlikely to have direct access to Sterling deposits. Bitcoin allows him to use his local currency to deal with me directly, assuming that he has a reliable exchange service of course. I've started this thread in an attempt to encourage people selling international assets to quote prices in Bitcoin, rather than in depreciating Fiat currencies.
257  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Biden on Brink of 2nd US Bank Bailout on: March 13, 2023, 03:09:22 PM
It looks as if the Chinese have bought the UK arm of the Silicon Valley Bank. I thought the US was anti China and trying to sanction the country publicly. In the meantime it seems they are selling them US assets, and transferring manufacturing and research to Chines owner companies. How long will it be until the Renminbi becomes the official currency of the US?
258  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [NEWS] Biden budget proposes 30% tax on crypto mining electricity usage on: March 10, 2023, 01:22:30 PM
In England, you can get a grant towards the cost of electricity used in heating your house. If you use mining rigs to heat your home, will it be eligible for a grant?
Electricity is far to valuable to waste on pushing cars around, especially as the current EVs are massively damaging to the environment, and force up the cost of home heating and industial use of electricity. It would be far better if the 30% tax was imposed on EVs when more energy efficient ICE vehicles could be used.
259  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you guys think that there will be a new technology to recover lost of Bitcoin on: March 08, 2023, 03:20:53 PM
Is there a technology to recover a gold coin that you dropped in the market square, and didn't realise it for a month. You might find it if you go back to the market, but the chances are virtually nil. It's much the same with Bitcoin, so make sure you use a secure wallet or storage mechanism, and you safeguard the details.
260  Other / Off-topic / Re: Are you going to pay $8 a month to Elon Musk? on: March 08, 2023, 10:20:11 AM
Wikipedia defines a tick as "Ticks (order Ixodida) are parasitic arachnids that are part of the mite superorder ". I haven't ever heard Elon Musk described as such a thing. Smiley
