921  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Testing a vaccine against a low risk virus. on: September 28, 2020, 09:03:47 AM
Do you have contact information for this doctor? A google search doesn't show anything.

I can't find it either now, so I guess it has been removed from the net. I'll watch out for a reference, although I'm getting a bit bored with the Corona misinformation  that is being pushed. You can see what the global agenda is by the way Boris Johnson is pushing the inadequately tested Oxford vaccine, and the way sick people are being turned away from the NHS hospitals to keep wards empty for a non-existent increase in Covid hospital requirements. They should be treating Cancer, heart disease, sick children, and other regular illnesses, and not supporting the extremely destructive Corina virus vaccine sales programme. It will take a few years for the real crippling effects of such a vaccine to become apparent, and start to require increased hospitalisation and medical care.
922  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Let's talk severe depression on: September 27, 2020, 09:50:46 AM
I can empathise with you to a certain extent. I've got a mass of historic problems to sort out. You just need to do something every day, and you will find that you will gradually get on top of things. If you are felling particularly low, then just do a couple of easy jobs. You need to keep your environment clean, and don't let the dishes mount up. Instead of getting a clean plate for your next meal, wash up the one from the last meal and use that. This mrans you will never have a mountain of dirty dishes to face.

The money left on exchanges is a bit more interesting, and it is something I have done in the past. I worked out that I was doing it as a form of security, as I felt that the money was always there if I needed it. Bitcoin has helped me with that. Now, I collect the money, and I buy some Bitcoin to save as my security. If you do this regularly, you can cheer yourself up by checking your wallet balance.

The covid lock downs are causing problems with depression as well. If you need some social interaction, you can always start or enter into some social discussion on the off-topic board here. A few of them can be quite interesting. Another thing to do is to start a new project, and this is why I hosted the domain Rag St, and I hope to develop that into a sellers introduction site.
923  Other / Meta / Re: Reduced forum activity on: September 27, 2020, 09:16:20 AM
So why did you join? Oh wait! You are probably an alt, and that leads us to another question.

Why do so many new alts start with an ICO? ICO = Initial Crap Offering.
924  Economy / Economics / Re: Boris is right a second lockdown could cripple UK economy. on: September 26, 2020, 03:50:28 PM
So what is the general conclusion in this thread? Has anyone pointed out that most of the population has built immunity now, and that means that crippling vaccines aren't needed. We need a knicker wetting panic to get people back into the mindset of allowing themselves to be vaccinated, or all that money that was given to the rich Pharma companies, and could have been used to save lives, will be perceived as wasted.
925  Other / Off-topic / Re: Above the fold on: September 26, 2020, 02:30:43 PM
It was the expression "above the fold" that I hoped to discuss. Unless you know about selling broadsheet newspapers, it may no longer be relevant. So many of these old expressions carry on into modern language though. "Pull the wool over his eyes" - a description of an old highwayman's trick, and "let the cat out of the bag" - relates to selling pigs in country markets, are two obvious ones.
926  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hacker blackmailing me and ask for money. Did you also get this email? on: September 26, 2020, 02:15:34 PM
I don't even bother to read those emails.
927  Economy / Economics / Re: Uk covid update on: September 26, 2020, 02:13:17 PM
Isn't it time we stopped listening to all the government crap about the number of cases? ll they need to do is to increase the number of tests, and turn up the replication factor, and suddenly we have 5 times ad many infections, when the reality is that they have probably gone down by 90%. Then all the sheeple go into a flat panic, and wet their knickers. It's time that intelligent people actually realised what the objective is. This is to replace free 100% effective natural immunity with expensive synthetic control of immune systems, that are at best 50% effective, and carry massive risks of collateral damage.
928  Other / Off-topic / Above the fold on: September 26, 2020, 02:00:44 PM
Last century, when newspapers were broadsheets, the paper was folded horizontally for display. This is not done with modern tabloid papers. The top part of the front page, ie, the section above the fold, was important to attract potential readers. Obviously the headline covered the main story of the day, and was the equivalent of "click bait". I sometimes use the term to describe the initial screen display that surfer sees when he links to a site. Does anyone else use this term, and do you think it is self-explanatory? If it is misleading, what alternative term could I use?
929  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: If only we had a crypto version of Ebay that could save us the hindrance of fee on: September 26, 2020, 01:33:24 PM
I've had a couple of goes at starting auction sites, both online and in real life. The big problem is getting sellers to submit items, as they are not likely to get high prices until you have a lot of potential buyers. I used to put my own items in, and accept that they would not realise top prices, but it involves a lot of work.

My new Rag St site takes a slightly different approach. I want to introduce wholesale sellers to bulk buyers, and to use Bitcoin for international transactions.
930  Other / Meta / Re: Troll role? on: September 26, 2020, 01:17:07 PM
temporary shadow banning might be an easy solution.
931  Other / Meta / Re: Reduced forum activity on: September 26, 2020, 08:04:27 AM
Well "Very Well Endowed" seems to have killed this thread. Smiley

I don;t know why people stay and continue to post if they think the forum is so bad. If a forum starts to have no value for me, then I just move on.  Bitcoin Talk seems to be changing, but it still has some great members contributing, and I am pleased to have access to their knowledge and opinions. The world of crypto is changing and expanding quite rapidly at the moment. If you aren't taking advantage of it, then you are missing out on a life changing opportunity. Discussion in this forum will help all of us establish ourselves in the new world that is emerging.

Jolly good show - keep up the quality posting. Smiley
933  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Can I charge a solar panel under cafe lighting? on: September 26, 2020, 07:30:46 AM
I've had a bit of time to experiment, and this is what I have found, and I might even read the manual a bit later to see what I have got wrong. Smiley

The indicator lights don't vary in intensity with the power supply. The problem was simply the contrast in bright sunlight ( yes, I am in England ). It fooled me a bit, as it only has one indicator status when charging. That is two lights on, and three cycling. When it is charged, all the lights are steady. This contrast the PNY bank that I am replacing, that uses the lights to indicate the state of charge. To check the current state of charge, you need to disconnect it, and tap the multi-function button, and that will tell you which of the 20% charge bands still need to be charged.

None of this helps with using cafe lighting to charge the bank though, and I'll need to do some further research to determine if this is possible. I've installed Tiny Web Gallery on Rag St, and I'll take some pictures a bit later to clarify the charging options. I've got another couple of small solar panels, and I will see if any of those will generate a charge. Of course another alternative is to use a cafe that has power sockets available for customers.

I'm intelligent enough to realise that making a full quote immmediately after a post .would make me look stupid
I'm also intelligent enough to put you on ignore
935  Other / Meta / Re: Reduced forum activity on: September 25, 2020, 01:39:20 PM
I get so tired of all the crap about people only being here for the signature earnings. For me the social interaction, educational discussions and threads, and the possibility of making business contacts are more important. I'm a domainer, so I use my signature sometimes to help with some project of mine - hence the stuff about Rag St. It would be a loss to me if I could use my signature space for various things as the mood takes me, I don't care if some helpful member uses his sig to earn a bit as a result of making helpful posts, but I do find it annoying when somebody with a minimal command of English makes meaningless posts, in an attempt to gain rank. They then whinge about everybody having the right to ponce off the forum to earn a few pence.

Maybe signatures should be banned for all those below full member level. Smiley
936  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Can I charge a solar panel under cafe lighting? on: September 25, 2020, 01:23:11 PM
Well it looks as if the answer in "no" for this charger. I collected the battery bank a short while ago, and I plugged it into the can charger, and that works well. When I arrived back at Asda, the sun was quite bright, so I tried it in the car park. I thought it was broken, as I coyldn't see the charging LEDs. On closer inspection, I noticed that they were blue under a smoked cover, and there wasn't much contrast in the sunlight. I'm quite pleased with it so far, as it does more than my bead bank. It does have a wireless charger, but I don't have anything to use that.

One thing that I didn't like was a prize card in the box. It was a scratch card, and I could claim a prize if I gave it a 5 star rating on Amazon. The prizes were £10, £15, and £20, and, of course, I won the £20 prize. I claim this via email, but there is no code relating to the card or the prize. I guess everybody wins the £20 prize. This explains why it has so many 5 star ratings. Based on my initial impressions, I would probably have given it 5 stars anyway, but I will claim the prize.

Congrats and i gave you 10 merits, because I always seem to be late to the party.
938  Other / Meta / Re: Should we post for members or guests? on: September 25, 2020, 10:01:17 AM
Maybe you highlight another difference in your post. I don't use discord, but then I was never much good at gaming. I'm much more interested in investment and banking. My belief is that we want more fund managers and bankers here, and not so many gamers ( unless thery are bankers of course ).

I don't see any scam alerts on threads that I open, and I try to avoid the flaming and name calling. Of course there is a lot of old information here. Members who are new to Bitcoin need to read the basics, and that is probably going to be old information. Fortunately we have many knowledgeable members ( the old timers) who are able to update the basic concepts, and to provide help and advice.

In the world of crypto currencies, it seems that anyone who joined more than a month ago is an old timer. The first cryptographs are claimed to be the Egyptian hieroglyphs from 4,000 years ago, but I don'r really think of them as cryptographs. Possibly the origins of cryptography lie in the cyphering machines of the 1930s. Gaining a good basic understanding of the emerging world will give you a massive advantage, and Bitcoin Talk can help you to gain this understanding.

Wild salmon is healthier and tastier than farmed salmon. There is a good reason for this - it is because the wild salmon has to fight against the current. This makes it stronger, and ensures the survival of the fittest. The problem that Bitcoin Talk may have is an unwillingness of many members to fight against the current to get to the spawning grounds. The solution is for some of us to rebuild the spawning grounds, and thus attract and encourage the virile crypto enthusiasts.

Not all westerners are lard arses. Tge vaccinations and pharmaceuticals taken by parents and given to kids can cause a range of problems. It isn;t just insulin resistance, which I suspect is more related to diet. You see some people with stunted growth, and also many hyperactive bean poles. I agree that "normal" seems to be a declining characteristic though.
