241  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH falling on: November 05, 2017, 12:03:10 PM
At least to the fork i donīt see any alts recovering. Anyway truly cryptocurrencies like BTC, XMR, LTC, ZEC or "platform" tokens such as ETH, XBY or KMD will definitely have a future despite any hard falls they can have. For a lot of worthless tokens issued in icoīs iīm not so sure. So i think you are fine holding to eth, even if it seems your are loosing some BTC rally.
242  Economy / Economics / Re: Why is bitcoin better than stocks, real-estate? on: November 05, 2017, 11:58:35 AM
I think BTC is in early stages and attracting a lot of people so itīs in a very exponential growth stage. We saw in the DOT.com bubble that anyone would be a stock investor but mainly in the US and Europe. what we are seeing in BTC is that anyone in the world can invest and you are not expected to invest 1000īs like in stocks. So every single citizen in the world can start with even a few sats make this a truly global market with a lot of growth potencial.
243  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Holding BTC vs Day trading or short term trading. on: November 05, 2017, 11:06:38 AM
So I have been in crypto for a while now, February precisely, and regrettably I wish I had never dabbled into day trading or short term trading. I have been burnt a lot trying to play the game of trading. Often times I end up buy too high thereby becoming a bagholder, and when I finally sell, it's at a loss.
So I can't help but wish I had just held on to my BTC. Would have been grinning from ear to ear today.  #Lessonlearned
For this purpose there are two very usefull tools. One is stop loss. place a limit where you sell at a loss, but is a loss that you expect you can recover from. The other is play with coins you believe long therm and where you are bag holding, just wait. the market have cycles and you you are in a red or even black cycle you just wait.
244  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why you should buy Bitcoin now. on: November 04, 2017, 05:23:34 PM
I think there will be a price growth further as well. But from my limited chart reading abilities i donīt see many support on the rise form 4K. So donīt you see a correction coming? before the year ends? I think people say after the fork because there is usually some kind of trigger, even a stupid one like the china exchange ban news...
245  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Can bitcoin kill maximum alt coins? on: November 04, 2017, 05:13:22 PM
The alt coins are in fact very different in purpose between them:

1- Altcoins that want to be currencies - they have to be a lot better than BTC to overcome it. But some of them wont just disappear just be part of the market.

2- Altcoins that are tokens to be used inside platforms. Some of these will survive if their platforms survives (but even then they can be replaced for other currencies if the market so desires)

3- Altcoins that want to be refuge/store of value. The same as number one, they have to prove they are a lot better than BTC at it, however they can be a part of the market as well.

4- Tokens that are actually like "shares" of a company or participations in funds they will survive if the companies/ funds survives.

5- many other use cases  that could be created as this is a new world!

But bottom line BTC will be the number one for a long time and will "kill" some other projects on the way.
246  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [KMD] Komodo speculation on: November 04, 2017, 03:40:51 PM
I believe the Komodo platform with its built-in privacy features is a great technology with excellent potential. With their first upcoming ICO (or dICO as they call it) of Monaize e-banking platform this Friday, the current price seems surprisingly low.

Monaize is not a “wanna-be” bank, but a licensed functioning bank in the UK where you can get a business MasterCard for your small business; and looking at their website it looks like they will be growing.

So why the low price? I think the main reason is their poor marketing which includes the website. So if the only thing that happens between now and Friday is the dICO, will there be a run-up in price? I see they are about to come out with a new website; what if the new site launches before Friday, along with heavy marketing between now and then, will that cause a run-up? Will a new ATH for Bitcoin ruin the party?

So I guess the question is: is this a really cheap buying opportunity or is it priced where it should be?

I canīt really answer your question. But what i can say is every project in crypto that gets price pumped usually it does on pumps and dumps, or marketing. Not on the quality of the project itself or the real use cases. You can take BTC for an example. Itīs widely used to trade and not as a currency . SO for KMD the price will probably be higher in the future and is somehow surprising that it has not climbed more with the DIco news...
247  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NEW XBY ANN] XTRABYTES - OFFICIAL WEBSITE and WHITEPAPER RELEASED on: November 04, 2017, 03:35:29 PM
Where can I buy tokens?
From my experience cryptopia would be the best option. itīs quoting at the current time 330 sats. Iīve been using  the exchange for a while and didnīt have any major troubles with it. Even a problem with a lost phone and lost 2FA password was adressed very fast by them.

Looking forward for the 777. More so considering the problems we saw lately around here it will be great to see the tech explained once more:)
248  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: should i buy btc now or sell? on: November 03, 2017, 05:01:32 PM
hallo guys, i am new to trading btc. and days before the bitcoin gold fork, i was advice to sell my btc (which i did) because it was suspected to drop in price few days to come. But surprisingly, from then till this very moment, btc has been on a continuous rise. now btc is at $7000+ and we are getting close to the next fork in mid-nov. DO YOU GUYS ADVICE I BUY BACK BTC AT THIS CURRENT PRICE OR WAIT for a possible drop in price?
if you are new to trading the best advice is HOLD. I wouldnīt short it because we all know its going to crash a little, but now one knows when and you can end up with less BTC. As for buying iīm planning to buy a little more on the next dip. When? i dont now, just looking at the charts on a daily basis.
249  Economy / Economics / Re: Best strategy to profit from crash on: November 03, 2017, 04:08:27 PM
I will be honest, I regret the day that I did not start with bitcoin. It was in the very early days, value was still around $1. But I calculated that the costs of mining would exceed the value of the coin. Then around 2011 I had some money to 'invest' and considered bitcoin. I don't even want to calculate the value it would be now, that's just frustrating  Grin. But hindsight is always easy. If we could look into the future we would all be millionaires the next day.

But I could not stop following it because I like the technology and also the economic aspect. So I believe the point of investment is just gone. Even if it go's up to 100.000 this still would 'only' be about 10 times the value now, so not the mega profit from the early days.

But I'm convinced that bitcoin will crash some day. Not because of envy, but there are a lot of things pointing to a tipping point. A bubble for sure. The question is when will people realize this and when will the fall start.

So I'm pretty sure about this and this time I don't want to miss this opportunity. The question is, what would be the best strategy to profit from this crash? I thought CFD's and short-selling, but when it go's up a lot, I don't have the equity to hold the positions and they will be terminated/margin call. Also I don't trust the brokers, will they pay when the fall is huge?

We can discuss about a crash yes or no, but for me this is not a question anymore. The only question is, how can I make sure not to regret this opportunity this time.

There are two things is this post that would make me not to invest. Believing it is going to be worthless. If you believe so, stay way. You donīt go around investing in crap. The other is the "only" 10 times up. In the same test you donīt go in because 10X up is a small profit, but you are willing to go in and short for something you think goes down to zero. This would probably be a biggest mistake than not getting in at 1$...
250  Economy / Economics / Re: Gold Is Yesterday, Here Comes Bitcoin As A Reserve Currency on: November 02, 2017, 04:57:42 PM
IMO opinion its more likely that BTC becomes a store of value asset than a widespread use currency. So for the post above i like the words of the paypal founder in terms of being bullish about BTC but i think we will see something other than BTC to emerge as a widespread currency for everyday use. so alts are not dead but has in any inovative or "startup" projects 90% wont thrive...
251  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bitcoin going on fire! on: November 02, 2017, 03:34:19 PM
With this kind of craziness i think iīm going to prepare buy orders at the 3k mark after the fork... Someone was saying its crashing to 2-3k level on other thread, i had doubts about it , but with this kind of crazy jump without support as said earlier people will take profit and some "panic" selling could follow. If it does, buying will be a must!
252  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Florincoin. The monster you haven't heard of. Time to buy. on: November 01, 2017, 11:42:35 PM
Is this 1200 ish sats the bottom? I was doing some zoomout on the graphs and if the bleeding continues does Flo have enough support to keep going above 1k? I have some long holding but right now iīm just a little worried with my tradable stash. Iīm bagging and just wondering if i should forget about it if a bounce is to be expected any time soon...
253  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Welcome to the new 2013 on: November 01, 2017, 11:35:01 PM
I would not be that surprised with a correction to 3K. But i donīt think it will happen only to take profit. It would happen if some stupid news like "the chinese ban news" come along with an already ongoing correction. If that is not the case the dip wonīt be that big as we will continue to see new money coming in from the "traditional" finance to BTC.
254  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NEW XBY ANN] XTRABYTES - OFFICIAL WEBSITE and WHITEPAPER RELEASED on: November 01, 2017, 07:23:58 PM
No, anonymity is not the goal. It is trust based. Smiley If you want more info then read the quoted text here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1864397.msg23523123#msg23523123

I see, thank you. This is really a new and unusual approach in the crypto currency. I read the information you gave me

In fact, only a few coins give complete anonymity. Even the biton will not give you complete anonymity. I think that the XTRABYTES network has many advantages without anonymity
But when you think of a currency you want it fungible. and to be fungible it has to be private and anonymous. Do you think its possible for a token to establish itself as currency without fungibility? I find it hard to be achieved but maybe iīm not being able to see passed our current concept of currency. Itīs been one of the biggest problems with BTC and yet it keeps thriving...
255  Economy / Economics / Re: Institutional money now nearer than ever on: November 01, 2017, 06:15:53 PM
https://www.forbes.com/sites/petertchir/2017/10/31/bitcoin-futures-are-finally-here/#6389fec26a0d

You can click on there and read the press release. I think this will pass, it's not the SEC that regulates this, it's a different process from ETF's. I think we are still not ready for an ETF, but Bitcoin futures could be good. Some worry about price manipulation as similarly seen by gold. I argue Bitcoin is a much different asset and you can't manipulate it as much as gold. The supply is clear, the market is global and nonstop. Gold's supply is unclear, nobody knows what's the limit of gold or how much is out there. The markets are not as global and they take breaks.

Good times for Bitcoin holders ahead, once again. I think we'll see the ETF around 2020 with an active lightning network, and the march towards 6 figures a Bitcoin will begin.
As far as manipulation do you think the centralization of mining is a real problem? or the fact that the coins are so dispersed after mining as we can see for the the amount of coins per wallet is the real fact dictating decentralization in BTC? Sometimes i ear that the centralization of mining can dictate the path that BTC is taking and i think if that can lead to some form of manipulation it the market itself?
256  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best dividends paying coins? on: October 31, 2017, 10:46:06 AM
As for dividends paying the project i know the most is TAAS. Is a tokenized crypto fund based on a smart contract on ethereum platform.
How it works?

They launched an ICO and have built a portfolio of crypto with it. then they propose to share the profit with the token holders every quarter. It goes like this: 50% share, 25% back into the fund, 25% for the team.

The history is still short but for ICO investers is a win as they shared around 30 cents per token in the first quarter and are sharing positive dividends now in november for the second quarter. The token itself is way above ico.

257  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Komodo Price prediction on: October 31, 2017, 10:38:58 AM
Komodo seems like a highly undervalued coin at the moment, it recently had a price increase. Their first ICO called Monatize is hosting their ICO on Komodo's platform, which also has privacy built in features. Just wondering what are your thoughs on what the Komodo coin's value will lead up to on the November the 10th.
I think KMD has a very passionate and competente team behind. The Monaize ICO will be interesting to follow as it is stated to be the first decentralized ICO and the first one on the KMD platform as well. Iīve been following the thread and lots of development is being made. I like the privacy focus and the platform features as i believe that there are two things that are a must in crypto future.
I donīt have a large quantity so iīm just holding to see where it gets !
258  Economy / Economics / Re: Indonesian Ban on: October 31, 2017, 10:35:27 AM
Indonesia’s central bank, has threatened action against bitcoin and say

Quote

I must emphasize that BI does not see bitcoin as an official payment tool in Indonesia so all people should know not to use Bitcoin as a means of payment. There is a risk.

Source of news https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/bitcoin-banned-payment-method-adopters-will-dealt-indonesian-central-bank/

This is the kind of "oficial" statement central banques are issuing around the globe. The countries have rules and the monetary system as well. Here in Portugal our central bank issue something similar trying to stress out "the risk" of crypto as it is not regulated nor considered a valid currency. What i see a little diferente here is the "threat" to the adopters. Do they mean it? or is it just FUD?
