The quicker bitcoin gets to a million dollars per, the better everyone will be   Grin

True but I will be living in a nice house well before that day Cool

walls on btc-e can be deceptive because they hide the orderbook top and down of the price.

True and sometimes walls have the tendency to vanish since they don't actually want to sell/buy :-)
2403  Economy / Speculation / Re: Something's got to give in the next few days on: May 18, 2014, 12:50:31 PM
Looking at BTC-e there are a few big buy/sell walls around this price.
Assuming these are real walls some whales are trying to force bitcoin into a narrow price band to make money on small fluctuations.

The sell wall is BTC238 @ $441 and the buy wall is BTC62 @ $439.3

In my opinion it will have to break in the oncoming days. Since I believe bitcoin wants to go up it will take some days to eat away those BTC238.

Really? Now your usual range trading with 100k is a whale wall somehow? That's not even a shark, just somebody making themselves some lunch money.

I don't really fully understand your comment.

Yes whales usually are bigger but with the current volume levels 238 BTC (100k) is a significant amount of money in my opinion.
Yes trading in such a small band will only earn you lunch money. But many little profits can amount to big profits.

2405  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why Bitcoin price is stagnating at 430-460$ price? on: May 16, 2014, 08:39:29 PM
It's simple, we are stagnating because
 - nobody is willing to buy above $460
 - nobody is willing to sell below $430

But why people are willing to buy above $460 or sell below $430 is a good question...  Smiley

I'M STOOPID ME CAN DRAW TRIANGELZ AND LINES!!!  Tongue

How come everyone around here thinks they can draws lines and triangles based on "wishful" thinking and call it TA. (Like igorr lines)
- There are only a few guys around here who actually know to draw trendlines.
- There are only a few guys around here who can provide good TA analysis along with the trendlines.
- There are only a few guys who get it right >60% of the time.

I'm not one of those guys, but I can believe it to be frustrating for the real experts around here.

2407  Economy / Speculation / Re: Positive News but No Price Movement on: May 13, 2014, 07:40:22 PM
Although there is good news, bitcoin the "brand" still is not trusted yet by the majority of wealthy investors. We're still in the "they laugh / fight you" stage (see below). We will probably be here for a while while the infrastructure gets built and more trusted exchanges enter the market. But it's all coming, so I'm not worried.

"First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win." -Mahatma Gandhi

Invalid quote .... Wikiquote says "Describing the stages of a winning strategy of nonviolent activism. There is no record of Gandhi saying this."

This doesn't change the fact that the quote is a good one Smiley

2408  Economy / Speculation / Re: If Bitcoin were Gold on: May 12, 2014, 11:34:34 PM
Interresting point of view, hope you're right but....

Since Bitcoin and gold are not alike I do not think we can compare it purely on it's rareness.

Age
Gold has been a rare and valuable material dating all the way back to the pyramids, aztechs, etc.
Bitcoin has only been around for a few years. We need more years and more mathematical proof to trust it.

Properties
Gold is used in the industry as a material for it's properties. Companies who use gold for products will be forced to buy gold at sub-optimal prices.
Bitcoin has no other properties, it's purely data and has no distinct physical form (yes you can store it on a physical media but it has nothing to do with bitcoin itself).

I will say it again, I hope you're right but we cannot compare gold and bitcoin in a simplistic model like this.
That said it does show that bitcoin can have a great potential to grow.
2409  Economy / Speculation / Re: it will reach $5000 before this year ends on: May 12, 2014, 06:48:02 PM
I read somewhere that an ETF would only be traded during business hours. Isn't that worse? Imagine the price dropping and people can't do anything till trading starts. I'd never buy btc like that.

In daytrading always end the day in a closed position.

Meanwhile, a month later still no drop to the "next level".

In what part of the worldsolarsystem does 13 days constitute one month?

Can you guys explain the MACD and what it all means (sorry noob here  Sad )

Noob explanation in a few lines.

MACD is a method of predicting trend changes. MACD is probably the most popular TA indicator.

It's based on the difference between EMAs. An EMA is an exponential moving average.
You have a slow EMA (longer period), and a fast EMA (smaller period).
Using the differences between EMAs and some magic you can calculate trend changes.

MACD can be looked at, in minute, hour, year, etc. intervals. You should match the MACD with your trading style. Daytraders will use smaller intervals than people doing long-term investing.

As seen in the post of abacus trend can be positive or negative based on the chosen interval.

2417  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC drop to next level coming...bail the F out now! on: May 04, 2014, 11:06:51 AM
Worse than when I gave the signal first. Bail out while you can or at least don't buy any more till the ball comes around.

Long term hodlers don't need to worry, it will come back around sooner or later.

When?? Im quite tired of waiting..

Soonish...
2418  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitcoin when will it go back up? on: May 03, 2014, 06:58:07 PM
I know this been asked before but when will it go back up?

Never, the game is over.

2419  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is a shit investment (this year) on: May 03, 2014, 06:26:18 PM
A calender year is just a random time frame. You can buy on any day of the year not only January 1st and you can sell on any day of the year not only December 31st.

But not always on 29th febuary...
2420  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is a shit investment (this year) on: May 03, 2014, 06:24:57 PM
Looks really not so good. A stable price on the $400īs is a bad sign I think. We had these stages already at 700s, 600 and 500s... Next is possibly 300s, 200s, 100s...

But I got to hodl, bought very high, so, fuck that... I sink with the ship...

Even if stable on 400 it will become 800 after halving so hodl on tight!!!
