2401  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Used a Bitcoin ATM in a gas station today on: November 03, 2016, 11:38:41 AM
I have never seen a Bitcoin ATM in random places, but I think it's understandable why they are appearing at such. To place an ATM in a place like Central Railway Station or in an Airport is a hard thing to arrange due to high costs etc. so people are placing them were they can afford.
2402  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2016-11-02] Bitmain to Launch a Giant New Bitcoin Mining Center on: November 03, 2016, 11:32:47 AM
Bitmain to Launch a Giant New Bitcoin Mining Center

Bitmain, one of bitcoin’s biggest miners with a current hash-share of around 15% of the network, is to launch a new giant mining facility this December with 45 rooms, independent substations, offices and a total size of 140,000 kilowatts.

https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/bitmain-launch-giant-new-bitcoin-mining-center/

Good news! If Bitmain would offer cloud mining on their facilities it might be the first cloudmining which is not a scam. I would trust them at least, because it's hardly they would ruin their great reputation launching a ponzi scheme.
2403  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin vs Gold vs Cash on: November 02, 2016, 06:48:59 PM
I disagree that only a limited amount of gold exists and that that's why it is protected from inflation. Who knows how many places which are still unexplored could contain gold. Cash is out of the question in that regard. So Bitcoin is the best like you said.  Cheesy
2404  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: used btc miner on: November 02, 2016, 06:32:59 PM
Ive seen some offers on ebay an online shops where people are selling used miners. Now, i was never into mining (with rigs), only small alt-coins but I like to know if investing in some used lower/medium poweer miners is worth anything? Or should I try to collect money and invest into a new one?

Apart from the bigger electricity consumption used miners are also tend to break down sooner than you were expecting. So it's much better to buy the new ones, but of corse they are not cheap, that's true.

But if you by any chance have the opportunity to use free electricity and you can find a cheap used miner in a good shape I think you can try your luck with it.
2405  Local / India / Re: Narcotics Control Bureau is trying to freeze which Indian Bitcoin exchange? on: November 02, 2016, 06:27:01 PM
I think no exchanges were closed actually.

an Indian agency is trying to freeze a Bitcoin exchange.

The key word here is " trying" so no worries. This is just the way journalists like to present their news, to attract more attention.
I dint say anyone has been closed. I asked which one they are trying to close? I think there are ~4 exchanges in India and all operators are on this forum. So, the operator might tell us which one is under scrutiny by Narcotics Control Bureau. If any one is under scrutiny, operator must have been intimidated by now.

I'm sorry if my reply wasn't what you were expecting but I couldn't find the information about any Bitcoin exchange in India which are closed or going to be closed by police. That's why I thought it was most likely an exaggeration of danger made by press.
2406  Economy / Economics / Re: Can we Manipulate Bitcoin price? on: November 02, 2016, 06:19:24 PM
I know there are many big players who manipulate bitcoin price and make huge profits but can we the bitcointalk members also form a cartel and let bitcoin price never fall?is it possible that we manipulate price as I am sure most of bitcoin users visit this forum

Not sure if most of BTC users visit this forum really. I know some people who are using Bitcoin on almost daily basis and have no idea about this forum's existence.

But even if we are a community which is large enough to manipulate the price of BTC why would we do that? I can see no point in this action since we are not a closed secret society and anybody from any place in the world can read what's posted here.
2407  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin without Altcoin ? on: November 02, 2016, 06:13:33 PM
I just wanted to get your opinions on this one , what do you think Bitcoin would be if there was no Alternative coins such Litecoin & Dogecoin and the others ...
I mean it would be better with or without them Bitcoin would have no value at all ?

Bitcoin wouldn't lose its value if all altcoins disappear at once. Also I don't think altcoins could somehow make harm to Bitcoin. They can coexist like they do now, but no altcoin will be ever of a greater value than Bitcoin.
2408  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Precious metals are not useful in a collapse scenario! on: November 02, 2016, 06:07:36 PM
Yes, we are in digital age and believe it or not digital goods are more valuable than physical ones already. Same goes for the money, just look at prices of any physical urrency in USD and compare it to Bitcoin price.
2409  Local / India / Re: Narcotics Control Bureau is trying to freeze which Indian Bitcoin exchange? on: November 01, 2016, 05:19:48 PM
I just read the following in CoinTelegraph as stated by Sudhir Chaudhary in Zee News...

“We're also making this segment because an Indian agency is trying to freeze a Bitcoin exchange. Drug sellers are using Bitcoin, and a division of the Indian government, the Narcotics Control Bureau, has seized 500 Bitcoins. As one bitcoin is 45k rupees, the amount frozen is around 2 crores and 25 lakhs.”

Which Indian Bitcoin Exchange Zee News Business Head and Senior Editor Sudhir Chaudhary is referring to?

I think no exchanges were closed actually.

2410  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Avalon 7 on: November 01, 2016, 05:05:37 PM
Lets hope the A7 fixes the giant flaws with the A6...namely the massive cooling problems the A6 has
I've got 20 A6 and haven't experienced anything remotely like what you are describing.

maybe he was using a hot attic space to mine with them.

when the room got near 100f it had issues, but that is the rooms fault not the A6

I agree. The ventilation in the room is what really matters. If you have a very hot air in the room you can't cool your miners properly even if their cooling fans are operating at their best.
2411  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2016-10-31] Bitcoin is closing in on its 2016 peak... on: November 01, 2016, 04:55:10 PM
Bitcoin is closing in on its 2016 peak. A handful of theories attempt to explain the rally

In a year of monster hackers, the rise of new cryptocurrencies, and its own unresolved “civil war” over how to enlarge its transaction capacity, bitcoin has not only survived, but thrived.

The price of bitcoin has risen by 19% this month to a high of $718, putting it within touching distance of its 2016 peak.

Yeah, and it wasn't the end of the rising I hope. We are at $730+ now and the year's peak which was in May is really within the reach.

This passage from the article made me smile:

But exchange owners have reported that their customers are speculators, not people trying to stash money outside the country.

I mean what else can they say in China if they don't want to be closed? Smiley
2412  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH GETTING DUMPED HARD!!!! on: November 01, 2016, 04:42:34 PM
etherum ETH never hard dumped
this dump or price is down still control and slow down not fast dump and hard dump
this now price ETH is still stable price

It could drop in price in the next few months when most investors will divert their attention to ZCash.

There ain't just ZCash but many alts that are popping up these days which have many good features and tend to have better prices after ICOs end...
So, I think everyone is just redeeming their bitcoins out of ETH and getting ready and investing in other opportunities...

ETH has drooped less than 10% since you posted this which is a normal fluctuation for a crypto. So it doesn't look like everyone is dumping it. Btw it's not so easy to predict which coin will really stay here for long so I'd better stick to the old ones.
2413  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin being used for illegal activities on: October 21, 2016, 03:05:07 PM
I see more and more acrticles of bitcoin being used for illegal activities
will this hurt bitcoin in the long run , will governments ban this just like they started to do wih paying in cash for some services
to harden the use of illegal , and money laundering
Sure bitcoin is being used for illegal activities, as long as it is a currency. But I don't think it will ever be prohibited by governments. Illegal activities are not about bitcoin, it's just a simple rule: where there is money, there will always be something illegal and vice versa.
2414  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If no one spends bitcoin what might happen? on: October 21, 2016, 02:58:41 PM
Share your ideas here.   Grin

In my opinion, I think we will be stuck in one price or maybe worse we will all go down.

Here is what happened when US citizens are saving too much.

Quote
That's important because American spenders make up the majority -- about 70% -- of economic activity in the country. If people don't spend, the economy doesn't grow.

Check it out here

Then bitcoin will be stable, but useless. If noone spends it - it doesn't grow, or tumble, then noone would want to buy it, because there are no more reasons for investing money in it.
2415  Other / Off-topic / Re: Save you Bitcoin for your (grand) child / children? on: October 21, 2016, 02:53:29 PM
Bitcoin is a long term project. Therefore it makes sense to save small parts over a long horizon. Do you save Bitcoins for your (grand) child or children?

For those who do not have (grand) children (yet), would you save Bitcoin for them if you would have (grand) children?
I think by the time I'll have grandchildren bitcoin might no longer exist. I'm not saying I don't believe in btc, but it is impossible to look in such far future, so I'd better earn some money, build a house and live it to my family. Realty has always been a reliable investment.
2416  Other / Off-topic / Re: What can i do with 3 Bitcoin? on: September 22, 2016, 06:45:49 PM
A friend of my want to give me 3BTC and he want me to pay him back 4BTC in 2month 7days but he asked me what will i do with it, how can i turn 3 bitcoin to 4 in 2 month 7days, what is the best investment that can give me good ROI in that short period

So please i ask for your advice
I advice you not to listen to your friend and not to take 3 btcs. You can try using casino, gambling and stuff, but if you aren't good at it - you obviously will lose this money. When you get new btcs the hard thing is - to keep it, not even talking of earning more, especially that much.
2417  Other / Off-topic / Re: bitcoin affects life a lot on: September 14, 2016, 05:33:44 PM
bitcoin has afftected my life a lot not only positively but also negetively.thats because there was a time when i use to walk run and even jump like a monkey with friends and all the outdoor stuffs but after getting involve in this bitcoin thing i am spending most of my time either coding or learning new programming languages or earnin btcs for somewhere . should i lower spending my time in internet or not and is there anyone who is facing this type of addiction here
Well, on the one hand - now you spend all of your time for earning btc, and due to this fact you can possibly afford yourself a good luxury life. On the other hand, if you spend all of your time on it you might not notice how quickly your life tails off..
2418  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin can disappear? on: September 14, 2016, 05:26:48 PM
I don't think it's meaningful anymore to discuss what if bitcoin is a scam etc etc... that kind of discussion belongs to 2009-2011 period, Bitcoin is in a way a commodity that increases and decreases on value depending on demand, stocks are too, but they aren't "scam".

Yeah, I think bitcoin period in question, expired as you mentioned above. And now the best thing to do is to invest in it, because many people who believe in the presence of bitcoin and already tested several years ago until today. thanks

Bitcoin holds satisfied users in high numbers especially the early adoptors who invested at right time and now are billionaires, it can also make us rich if we start investing in it as the future of bitcoin is very bright and I don't think it will ever disappear.

But how can you be so confident in it? Optimism is good, I know, but when you invest a lot of money there is always a huge risk of losing all of it. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, of course, but what exactly made you think bitcoin is a reliable currency?
2419  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin can disappear? on: September 14, 2016, 05:21:38 PM
first bitcoin will not disappear. because it has no become a permanent currency and people are using it as a fiat currency in different areas. but if still bitcion disappear then people will really be in panic.
of course bitcoin cannot just disappear though theoretically its price might drop to a very low number then a lot of people would quit using bitcoins and bitcoin would kinda disappear
But if its price dropped to a very low number, don't you think people would rather start buying it, then stop using it?
2420  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin can disappear? on: September 14, 2016, 05:18:36 PM
Bitcoin can disappear?
And if bitcoin is a scam, what will happen in world?
People will panic?
Sure it can. As long as it is a cryptocurrency it can simply disappear. I don't think people will panic then, they'll just be very disappointed and probably won't trust any other cryptocurrencies in future.)
