1561  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETC is the only coin to survive on: June 27, 2017, 02:55:20 PM
Most of the top coins are crashing, only ETC stays at stable price. Why? And will it pump when the market recover or just stay at this price level?

I really don't understand why are you saying this. Maybe it was staying at the yesterday's price in time you were posting but right now it's down -11.30% in USD and even down -6.74% in BTC which as we all know has dropped itself.
yes, at this this time it's crashing too. If you looked at the charts yesterday you would understand me

Yeah, I know, I believe you were right when making that post. Everything changes very quickly. Almost all the cryptos are falling like a waterfall these days. ETC has lost additional -17.28% in the last 24h. % Change (24h) on the coinmarketcap is all red.
1562  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why I suddenly decided to leave gambling alone. on: June 27, 2017, 02:45:23 PM
I've had good moments and bad moments in my life, but the worst moments is when I spent the entire day gambling and focusing only to winning money for this or that.
I'm tired, seriously, to win big and then fall in more deep "debt" because of greediness. I can't afford to have such experiences anymore, it makes me sad the fact that instead of saving those money I preferred to spend them on a gambling site, I was like oh ok it's just x, so If i can lose it it's ok, oh it's just a faucet, it's ok if I lose it. But when If even with the faucet I reach like 0.06 or more, and then I lose them it's still a touch to the heart, that makes you say if I start back with this amount I can magically make it 0.6, yes probably, cause I did that in the past, as my far record is been from 0.001 to 1.6 btc in 3 hours with roulette, but let's not dig that.

I prefer spending the money on what are my necessities now, than see my wallet drop in amount. Every single f*** time, every time I had the chance to buy btc, or doge whatever, I ended up expecting to win big.
EVEN if I win big, I repeat that, I waste the money afterward, because I think it's a good idea to bet bigger now if my budget supports it, and there it goes down the hole.

Why I decided to leave gambling anyway? I saw how rapidly I was going down in the past few days, and like an hot potato to keep sinking my butt on the wallet. I'm tired of that. I better move my butt and find something that used to keep me busy, like programming, I love programming. But then I got stressed and I started to gamble.

I hope you all understand. All my friends I made in these years on the gambling sites, thank you everyone for your support of my strong decision.
Thanks everyone.

Most gamblers do this same mistake and that's because they don't think they were just once lucky, but they think they know now how to win with gambling every time they play. You've made the right decision, just stick to it no matter what others say.

I respect your decision to quit and I hope many on this forum in similar situations would look for a better way out and learn from you and this thread

I respect the OP's decision to quit too. Hopefully he will stand by his word, because many gambling addicts just say the words but never actually quit. I really wish OP had serious intentions when he was writing his post and I wish he will have strength to abstain from gambling in the future.

4. Minimum ticket price will be 0.001 BTC

~

I suggest you to lower the price significantly, like hundred times, and thus you'll attract much more users. Not hundred times more, but thousands times more. People usually are unwilling to part with money which might have any significance, like $2+ in your case. But they will easily sacrifice $0.02 to have the opportunity to win big.

What would be a winning amount in that situation?

Best regards
Edi

If you decrease the price of the lottery ticket hundred times and the number of buyers remains the same as before then the winning amount will be 100 times smaller.

But that's the point that lowering the price of one ticket 100 times you increase the number of buyers significantly, maybe more than 100 times, and the winning amount will be even greater than before.
1564  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XRP] Ripple Speculation on: June 27, 2017, 01:24:22 PM
So Ripple, the company, encourages using XRP, right? Then if this company is having success and many famous banks want to work with it, XRP, the coin should be successful too.

IMO it would be right to say that XRP and Ripple are different things only if there was no connection at all between the two.
Think about it this way:

Ripple holds over 60 billion XRP. Given the way that's being escrowed, Ripple will almost certainly be the largest holder of XRP for the foreseeable future. For every penny the price of XRP goes up, the notional value of Ripple's XRP goes up by six hundred million dollars. Ripple can only materialize that value for its shareholders if that value and liquidity are preserved over the next several years.

Sure, Ripple makes money by selling software to banks. But how many banks do you think Ripple would have to close to make six hundred million dollars in license/support fees? That would equal the value of a sustained one cent increase in the price of XRP.

Thank you very much for your explanation!

As an employee of Ripple what can you say on the predicitions about the XRP price this year? Some say it can be $1 or $2, while others say that holders should sell now before it's too late, at $0.26. What do you think?
1565  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [TOR] Torcoin - X11 PoW - Tor Integrated Crypto - Torcoin.org on: June 27, 2017, 10:01:28 AM

Great news!  Smiley Yes, TOR is up 53.50% in BTC in the last 24h. As I said before no one should sell TOR under $1.20 ever.

Having 28 TOR after purchasing an awesome t-shirt for 10 TOR, I think I'll even wait until TOR will cost more than $1.20 until I sell any.

I believe with such a limited supply (under 300k), 10$/TOR in the long term is not unrealistic but rather at the reach of our hands.

being rare is not that important imho there are many coin that are rare but have a very bad value what matter I think are the features and the promises that the dev want to delivery

Ofcourse not, but I'm saying with a lower supply comes a higher price with a lower market cap  Cheesy

I agree. With the current Circulating Supply of 294,666 TOR we just need that 10,000 people were willing to have $100 worth of Torcoin and the price 1 TOR would go above $3.3 then.
1566  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin sucks! on: June 26, 2017, 04:46:10 PM
Our experiment with BTC is over. We accepted BTC in 2 of our on-line stores and after losing hundreds and possibly thousands of dollars we are removing BTC acceptance. Stores were selling card access products and chip cards.
Simply by the time somebody buys something and gets confirmed and we manage to exchange BTC at Canadian Kraken we are at loss. So goodbye Bitcoin, going back to PayPal and credit cards only.

I'm sorry you had this experience, but like Kprawn said you could also profit big time from accepting bitcoin.

Also announcing that you accept bitcoin you expect to have more customers because of that and most likely you are right, but you also can expect some risks.

I wasn't using the site for a while but today I remebered that I have 120k satoshis there and that it's a nice site to play overall so I decided to pay it a visit. But unfortunately I keep getting this message when trying to access the site through Tor:

Quote
Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at penguinsyuo2gtvz.onion.

What does it mean? Is the site down temporarily or is it not functioning anymore?

Great article, I like its positive thinking.  Smiley But jokes aside I think they are right on the pushing factors. Indeed Japan has played a crucial role in this year's bitcoin's wider adoption. Also I agree that we'll see $3,000+ by the end of this year (or maybe even earlier.)

Japan was alway on a trandy way as in fashion as in technology area. I am not surprised that they want to use all the oportunities of bitcoin and crypto-currencies in general. That's the greatest example of modern country and I hope other countries will join this experiment.
Also there is no doubt that bitcoin price will cross the point of 3000$. I am expecting tosee 5000$ price during the year Wink

I wish you were right, Taki, but for some unknown to me reasons the price of bitcoin went down 5% during the last 24 hours. Hopefully bitcoin will recover soon as many people were waiting for the price to go down a bit to buy.

1572  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you feel shameful for being a gambler? on: June 26, 2017, 12:11:48 PM
I have never been shameful. In my country, gambling is for everybody but it is not recommed.
But i still have to hide it with my parent becuase they hate it, they never allow me to gamble.
Hope oneday they will see it's advantage.

Parents are just being protective to their kids that's why even you try asking them that you are gaining good profits they will still not allow you because the big possibilities that you will become an addict and relied your life into gambling me as well I won't allow that to happen to my kids even somtimes I also do gamble.
My kid already learn how to gamble but I also remind her that she should always prioritize her studies.
If we can train them when they are young, I guess they will mature early and they will not be addicted to gambling.
I allow my kid to gamble actually..

I think you are doing the right thing. My farther also allowed me to gamble three years ago for the same reasons. He taught me how to not become a gambling addict from the very beginning and now I gamble occasionally but never become addicted to it.

This kind of strategy is like vaccination.  Exposing your kids in gambling while guiding them on how to avoid being addicted.  Just like in vaccine, we were vaccinated with weak viruses to have a resistance to the stronger kind of that virus/bacteria.  It is a good thing to see open minded father that teaches their kids to be strong in front of a dangerous game and guiding them through the courses to develop resistance to addiction while exposed to the gambling games.

Yes, as a biology student, I like your comparison with vaccination. Indeed gambling can be a dangerous disease if you were not vaccinated against the virus. Some parents have other approaches to the problems, they just forbid everything, but it doesn't work as they expect it should.
1573  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XRP] Ripple Speculation on: June 26, 2017, 11:37:04 AM
Wink

This is the difference between XRP and Ripple.

by ecurrencyhodler @ https://www.reddit.com/r/Ripple/comments/6jd9w6/this_is_the_difference_between_xrp_and_ripple/

Here is the difference between xrp and ripple taken from their whitepapers:

1) Ripple, the company, offers banks a software called Ripple Connect (thanks /u/cmbartley) which uses InterLedger Protocol (ILP) to transfer $$ between banks with a minimal fee because it doesn't have to get transferred 2-3 times into different fiats or service fees. It simply needs to get converted once. This software DOES NOT USE XRP.

2) XRP is simply a cryptocurrency that exists outside of this software that is high in liquidity and has fast transactions. There is nothing that distinguishes XRP from other cryptocurrencies that carry the same properties such as LTC or Zcash. Source: https://youtu.be/51dMe_Oui4M?t=2439

For you newcomers out there looking to invest in this coin, you need to know the following things:

1) The success of Ripple the company is not directly tied to the value of XRP.

2) When you buy Ripple, you are simply buying another cryptocurrency. It's advantages are its fast transaction times, high liquidity, and finally the various exchanges it's on.

3) You are NOT buying the currency that banks are currently using to transfer their money. So banks are not buying XRP right now and you should not expect banks to buy up a whole ton of XRP in the near future.

4) However, Ripple the company will advocate for use of XRP as the cryptocurrency of choice within Ripple connect for banks to transfer money in the ILP between lesser known fiats outside of the USD and the Euro.

 Smiley

So Ripple, the company, encourages using XRP, right? Then if this company is having success and many famous banks want to work with it, XRP, the coin should be successful too.

IMO it would be right to say that XRP and Ripple are different things only if there was no connection at all between the two.

Often torcoin increases the value when bitcoin has problems

Indeed, we've had a relatively stable price in USD.

No sell orders on Cryptopia under 45k Sats!

That's a nonsense imo. How could location possibly affect a game if it's provably fair? You better do not watch those gambling tips on youtube because you might end up downloading a malicious script under the guise of a "winning dice bot".
1578  Economy / Gambling / Re: Advise us on creating legitimate lottery [results based on euro millions] on: June 25, 2017, 04:45:07 PM
Hi

TL'DR :  We live in Europe and there is a very famous lottery draws twice a week Euro millions 'https://www.euro-millions.com'

We have a pool of European based lottery buyers and we divide the wins whenever we make anything.
Now we want to start a lottery of our own solely based on BTC because we believe BTC and other crypto's are the future. We have checked with the local government agencies and non-one cares about BTC as a lottery. So basically we have a go ahead from them.

Our simple question is how do we make sure that new lottery buyers have trust in us. We don't want to partner with governments.

It is just an idea. We are not asking for BTC or money. We want advice.

Best regards
Edi

If you want buyers have trust in you the only way to achieve that is by using a trusted escrow and of course your lottery should be a provably fair one.

Good luck with your lottery! Great idea!
