2424  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CLAM] CLAMS, Proof-Of-Chain, Proof-Of-Pearl, Recent Mandatory Update on: December 10, 2014, 08:33:32 AM
bitcoin-qt but don't remember the version (not home now)

launch your bitcoin client as usual and wait for it to load the blockchain and start up
click on 'help' in the menu bar (top right)
click on 'debug window'
select the 'console' tab
type:
Code:
walletpassphrase "your walletpassphrase here" 600
type:
Code:
dumpprivkey "your wallet address here"
this will return the private key, you can copy it now; ensure you clear your clipboard/history afterwards
type:
Code:
walletlock

If you never encrypted your wallet, then you don't need to do the "walletpassphrase" command. That's only needed to unlock the wallet if it is protected with passphrase encryption.
As far as the public key for dumpprivkey, that is asking what Bitcoin address you want the private key for.
To get the list of Bitcoin addresses in your wallet, you can use:
Code:
listreceivedbyaddress 0 true
or
Code:
listaddressgroupings

EDIT : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=623147.msg9800717#msg9800717
listaddressgroupings seems to work better.

Can I still redeem Clams from my BTC wallet or it's over ?
Yes!
Clams do not expire on your BTC, LTC or DOGE address. They will be there for ever if you don't go pick them up! (Like kids at day care!!!)

Thx.

Did someone tried this ?
Quote
Dig CLAMs on Just-Dice.com

On Just-Dice.com you can type "/dig ADDRESS" to check if an address can be dug for clams. If you find one that is diggable (make sure you move the coins to a new address for your own protection) then you can dig the CLAMs by typing "/dig ADDRESS PRIVKEY". Make sure you don't use quoatations. The PRIVKEY must be in bitcoin-qt format. It will take about 10 minutes (10 confirms) for the CLAMs to show up in your balance.

Do this mean that I don't need to bother downloading the whole damn BTC + Clam blockchain ?

EDIT : The method works great.
Type "/dig ADDRESS PRIVKEY" in the just-dice chat and get the CLAMS.
Thanks.

Can I still redeem Clams from my BTC wallet or it's over ?

What the hell is the "-salvagewallet" for ? Can't we just import private keys directly ?

Can we have a clear process in the OP instead of having to ask 100 times ?

EDIT :
I just downloaded and synced clam wallet then imported bitcoin wallet.dat file. Then did the same for litecoin and dogecoin wallet.dat files.
Balance is still zero clams.
Is there any other step I have to do or simply those addresses were empty on May 2014 (can't remember for sure)?
There are no more steps.
Pick an address, and look at https://blockchain.info/charts/balance?format=csv&address=ADDRESS to verify the balance on 12th May 2014.

Thanks a lot for this.

All people need is an OS device, an iPad, or even a crappy older itouch should run the app. So people should take that into consideration and IF they have invested a lot then they can buy a cheap apple device, even a 2nd gen I touch might run the apps?, less than $100. Plus a few months isnt much of you compare with the three years of airdrops.

Well this is not exact. It depends of the last supported iOS version of your Apple device.
See here : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_iOS#Current_versions

I've got the first iPad and the last supported version is 5.1.1 from May 7, 2012. Nothing can be installed on it any more, not even the updates from the apps that where working before.

What is the lowest compatible iOS version that GEMS support ?

PS : I am not complaining about releasing on iOS before Android, I'll buy a recent second hand Apple device if needed and sell it after when Android is released. I just need to know the supported iOS version.

Has “cannibalizing pools” lead to latest decline in difficulty?

In this blog post we discuss a type of attack that allows pools to gain more mining reward by cannibalizing the rewards of other pools.

Doesn't matter, have sex.

Aucune autre raison.

2437  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GEMS]| SOCIAL MESSAGING APP THAT REWARDS ITS USERS |PRE-SALE LIVE NOW| on: December 08, 2014, 12:16:28 PM
I can imagine a direct buy button doing this :
Credit Card --> FIAT on exchange --> BTC on exchange --> GEMS on exchange --> GEMS credited to user
or
Credit Card --> FIAT on exchange --> GEMS on exchange --> GEMS credited to user
or
simply a fixed rate by the company that will always be more expensive than the real market
The final user would only see the current FIAT/GEMS price, pay with credit card and get his GEMS on his account.
GEMS would need an exchange doing different pairs : FIAT/BTC, FIAT GEMS, BTC/GEMS, ...
Maybe an advanced feature inside the app for traders ? Not needed but it would be cool.
Your thinking like a crypto head not an average new to Bitcoin user. A simple fiat to Gems Or BTC is all you need similar to how you buy credits on games for example. Trading should not go anywhere near the app and should be discouraged generally not even a simple swap BTC for GEMS ability. Then the focus needs to be on spending your gems and BTC and encouraging vendors to take GEMS as well as BTC. Once you start having advanced features even if they are hidden in a tab ruin the simple principle of user friendliness.
The crypto community has been making this same mistake for a while now because what they see as simple really isn't for the average non technical person. An app to go mainstream needs to be stupidly easy to use, once people see how they can easily buy stuff by sending BTC or GEMS they will be hooked.

You are reacting to the *least important comment I made, just forget about it. No special feature in the app.
I was talking about a "buy button" similar to every existing apps.
The details are the technical explanation of the script behind the "buy button".
I wasn't considering any second that the final user would see, imagine or understand anything that happen behind the "buy button".

The GEMS exchange would not be known by the average Joe but it is needed to regulate the BTC/GEMS market price because cryptocurrency can only exist in a free-market.

EDIT : *
2438  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GEMS]| SOCIAL MESSAGING APP THAT REWARDS ITS USERS |PRE-SALE LIVE NOW| on: December 07, 2014, 07:18:59 PM
Something very important, don't know if the gems team has thought about it.
Lets say i have never heard of crypto and use the gems app and i want to send unsolicitate messages. Where do i buy gemz in the first place? Considering the app is all about simplicity for the common user, shouldn't there be a buy gemz option in the app?
As I understand, every new user can get a few GEMS via “airdrop” giveaways. The user that invited you also have GEMS so you may ask him some.
You can buy GEMS from any user with cash (or other way) exactly like Bitcoin when you trade in person.
Nowadays, there are more and more possibilities to buy Bitcoin directly with a bank card so anyone able to make a purchase on Internet can afford Bitcoins & get GEMS.
I think the starting point of GEM project was to make cryptocurrency mainstream.
Fair enough but what if i want to buy more gemz than the user can offer me, or someone wants to spend a lot of gemz. There should be a simple buy gems button for users who want to buy it. I hope the devs make this process easy aswell then it will be gold, i'm purely talking from a newbie standpoint who even doesn't know what bitcoin is, which the common user pretty much is.

I can imagine a direct buy button doing this :
Credit Card --> FIAT on exchange --> BTC on exchange --> GEMS on exchange --> GEMS credited to user
or
