2441  Other / Meta / Re: Just remove signatures already. As in delete, disable, gone. on: December 18, 2014, 09:55:16 PM
I have a sig, it earns me a fairly stable income which I am then converting into an even more stable income which means I won't even have to rely on sig ads at one point. However, I always try my best not to spam and don't bump if I can help it and definitely don't necro post I do agree though that I've had to check the date a lot lately of any topics and sure enough I often find a topic that I posted in sometimes a year ago that's been deliberately necro'd for a post count.

Just report these twats and in fact, report any senior members that go along with it and try to sneakily reply to the topic as if nothing happened and yes, I HAVE noticed, so don't think your safe because you're a long term member.

Signature campaign managers should also take steps to make sure to be more vigilant and check the post history of any members that sign up to their campaign to make sure they aren't just spamming for post count, if you cut off their incentive to spam the majority of them will stop.

I've noticed now too the necro spammers more recently have been targeting threads within the past couple of months so keep a watch for that sort of thing as well.

Ah sorry, I meant if there were any limits to the type of files that can be uploaded and so on and I was talking about them accepting donations, I need to look into how this works better but it looks like there are at least a lot of movie files on there already.
2443  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is the answer to life, the universe and everything 37? on: December 18, 2014, 09:45:08 PM
Still pretty funny though and interesting, it would explain a lot, I think an asteroid crashing us into this planet is a more likely scenario though.

So you're an alien seeding primordial Earth with life. Like any creator, you sign your work. Now we may have found that signature – in the genetic code

MAXIM MAKUKOV has an idea. It's unorthodox; you might call it "out there". Makukov understands that. He knew he'd have his critics the moment he began to develop it. But it's there in the numbers, he says. And numbers don't lie.

A cosmologist and astrobiologist at the Fesenkov Astrophysical Institute in Almaty, Kazakhstan, Makukov says the numbers reveal that all terrestrial life came from outer space. Not only that, it was planted on Earth by intelligent aliens. Billions of years ago, the planet was barren and lifeless. But then, at some distant and unknowable moment, it was seeded with what Makukov calls an "intelligent-like signal" – a signal that is too orderly and intricate to have occurred ...

Unfortunately new scientist requires you to sign up, so I'll look around for a complete article on the subject but it's actually really brilliant Cheesy

p.s. ib4 creationists come along and claim it's the work of God and refuse to acknowledge the fact it might actually be aliens that made us for shits and giggles.

Damn, as usual the internet is swarmed at the moment with creationist rants so I'll have to search a bit more carefully.
2445  Other / Off-topic / Re: I have been the most stupid cunt ever - computer related disaster inside on: December 18, 2014, 08:02:48 PM
Yeah, I know, but knowing my luck I'd somehow manage it, I'll stick with nice safe air cooling Tongue
2446  Other / Off-topic / Re: Tribler the offers bittorrent anonymity that is "impossible to shut down" on: December 18, 2014, 07:58:06 PM
Are their games on it and do they accept Bitcoin? Cheesy I need to take a closer look at this one, going to try it out and see what happens.
2447  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Italian journalist and EU ex-MEP detained in Estonia then expelled from Europe on: December 18, 2014, 07:29:21 PM
Cold war mentality, America has it as well and you can see it in some of the politicians, the ex-soviet states will of course be the ones worse affected by it because they were the ones who got invaded by Stalin.
2448  Economy / Economics / Re: 2014: Do you think Bitcoin was the worst possible investment? on: December 18, 2014, 07:22:56 PM
Yes , the data tells everything , and as I know,a lot of altcoins even lost 99% value during 2014

What I find interesting is that so far any time Bitcoin tends to do well Altcoins go down, when it does badly Altcoins go up, there have been some crazy rises in certain coins lately if you dig around past all the clones and the like.
2449  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What would people think if I created a Bitcoin jobs board of my own? on: December 18, 2014, 06:56:47 PM
It would be a good idea, there have been one or two already created but the long term problem you'll have is people making shit posts and just spamming, it's something that even plagues your regular job search sites because most job sites I've looked at are filled with marketing scams.

I personally wish we could have some kind of combined effort on the internet to get rid of these blatant spammers actually but it's something that's clearly going to be with us for a long while.
2450  Other / Politics & Society / Re: North Korea threatens "merciless" response over Seth Rogen film on: December 18, 2014, 06:40:38 PM
Yep I saw that news item, I'm still not convinced in the slightest that it's actually North Korea, simply because like with Iran the west is spoiling for a fight and looking for a legitimate excuse to invade them.
2451  Other / Off-topic / Re: I have been the most stupid cunt ever - computer related disaster inside on: December 18, 2014, 06:36:54 PM
The reason it happened was because I had pretty much messed with every other part of the computer except the processor and the heatsink. The ridiculous thing is I definitely didn't do enough research on it because I thought it would be simple but I underestimated how much blatant misinformation there is about it because on the youtube comments everyone was screaming warnings about the video I saw and on many others as well.

I have no idea why I didn't check things out more carefully because normally I am careful ;_; lol all the other videos I checked out after fucking up were of people warning against using paper towels and stuff and only using tiny tiny amounts of thermal paste.

It was just purely down to my own experience, I can tell you I didn't take off the thermal paste that came with the processor either and when I put the stuff on I did here a SNAP! so it must have been conductive, ah well, I'll definitely never do that again.

Also, I wouldn't dare touch water cooling, ever LOL Tongue who knows what might happen, might somehow end up electrocuting myself.
2452  Other / Off-topic / Re: Tutorial - Create Your Own Forum on: December 18, 2014, 04:29:37 PM
I should also point out that terms of service for many webhosts are extremely vague and mean you can get banned for just about anything. So if you intend to make a 4chan or Bitcointalk where you can write about almost anything you want then one way or another you will need to fork out money for it.

For instance there are websites that get taken down by DMCA notices despite having absolutely nothing to do with filesharing because political opponents and the like take issue with what their posting and decide they've had enough.

I would recommend finding a fairly liberal minded VPS or Dedicated Server host if you need to host content that would piss off a certain group of people quite a bit. Normal posting should be fine on shared webhosts like this but you'll need to restrict a lot of things.
2453  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-12-17] ChangeTip Analysis on Tips on Twitter on: December 18, 2014, 04:15:37 PM
I think I want to get a changetip account now, I've kept on hearing about it but it looks like a really nice idea, as others have said it would probably be great if it could be implemented into Bitcointalk.
2454  Other / Meta / Re: Lots of content gets deleted. MODS, ARE YOU NERVOUS?! on: December 18, 2014, 02:40:16 PM
If you've had a post deleted chances are it's spam or has been reported as spam, I'm personally on the lookout for newbie members and senior members alike who try to necro bump old posts and make generic one liner comments. if you don't want your posts getting deleted! Don't make shit posts and have an actual conversation with people! This place isn't your own personal spam/money making area.

As for criticism of mods etc. I have been here for almost two years and despite what I've posted I have never been banned or even really warned, I've had one or two posts that were deleted for being off topic but they seem to have gotten lax about even that now, probably because they have bigger problems like spambots to worry about.
2455  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Don't you feel like Bill Gates in 1995 when talking about Bitcoin ? on: December 18, 2014, 02:28:09 PM
Fuck me people are stupid and yes, I feel exactly the same, some people I get along with well already trust me and obviously went and looked up what I was talking about it but others were like that ignorant tosser. What amazes me is people seem to think because they're in a mob they're automatically correct about something with that journalist acting in such away and getting cheers from an even more stupid crowd.

If there is one thing that science and mathematics has as a mortal enemy I would have to say it's willful stupidity, there are people out there who are actually proud to be morons, it happened with the earth being round and revolving around the sun and it's happening now with the internet and Bitcoin.
2456  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why is Africa stuck in the stone age? on: December 18, 2014, 01:05:45 PM
Before the racists plague this thread with their bullshit, as has already been said the African continent has been deliberately kept in a primitive state by more advanced nations, no one can say for sure why but to me the most obvious answer would be resources.

Africa is still after all this time a resource rich continent, even if the Africans didn't unite but somehow managed to learn to fend for themselves and get just as advanced as the rest of the world that would mean bad news for other countries because they could no longer take advantage of their poverty and buy up their resources cheap.

While I won't claim any conspiracy theory in regards to aids and ebola on that continent I do agree that colonialism is most likely the biggest cause of their problems, we've often seen how much empire building can fuck up a country and the Africans have had to deal with that shit for hundreds of years.
2457  Other / Off-topic / Re: 30,000 people bought crap on Black Friday – literally on: December 18, 2014, 10:54:08 AM
I love the internet Cheesy
2458  Other / Meta / Re: Why is my post getting deleted ? on: December 18, 2014, 08:13:11 AM
Wasn't me, I only tend to target necro posters and spammers but I will say that newbies who post up stuff like that without having had proper conversations with people first tend to get flagged easiest because of how a lot of newbies just come in here to make one or two posts and then never come back.
2459  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is gaw miner on: December 17, 2014, 10:54:47 PM
GAW to me looks dodgy as fuck, the reason being not just because of all the background the people here have dug up but because something I've learned from watching MT.GOX is that if you have a company that has huge amounts of 'technical' issues and constant maintenance. Then they are either incompetent and shouldn't be in the business of holding other peoples' currency or they are setting up for their coins to mysteriously 'vanish' during one of their technical problems just as MT.GOX did.

While we're all human and make mistakes, consistent incompetence and dishonesty should never be rewarded.

What's with the silver price?

http://goldsilver.com/silver-charts/?utm_source=charts&utm_medium=click&utm_content=silver_24_hours-en&utm_campaign=charts

Yup, somethings just a tad off Cheesy but in regards to Bitcoin, when the crash happens Bitcoin will look stable in comparison.
