2481  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: All The Fees on: January 27, 2012, 09:45:40 PM
The reason why I love bitcoin is the lack of fees!  I now do most of my transactions fee-less.  I am buying and selling directly with others and have far less in the way of BTC-USD need.  When it happens it is 25 cents Dwolla and .5 % exchange fees, which is pretty low when you do $300 worth.

The 7990 at $850 will be a pretty good deal.  It is far less then the price of two 7970's.
2483  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Get $5 for free (no scam or bs) on: January 27, 2012, 03:44:41 AM
Thanks!  Did it.  Got the $5.  Now do I keep it there or pull it out via paypal?  Smiley
2484  Economy / Speculation / Re: Block Reward changing to 25 BTC in November-December 2012 on: January 27, 2012, 03:03:30 AM
It is so hard to tell.  Some think the price will go up (even double) but I tend to doubt that.  I think there will be a rise as supply is cut, but enough people holding coins will sell before then.  So I think mining is going to be much less profitable.
2485  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: 5970's at newegg for $329 on: January 27, 2012, 12:01:20 AM
I took 2 , should have done 4.

I will sell em for $410 each shipped usa or if no takers replace 2 5850's I have in a rig.  It won't take long for them to pay off.

2487  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Mining Strategy - Overclock or Not? on: January 26, 2012, 08:46:08 PM
Most of my units are undervolted and standard clocked.  I figure by not having to have a card offline due to thermal damage ever I have come out ahead.

I have two.  One new (box opened never used) 54GS v4 that was part of the fon.com promotion and has fon.com software on it, and a second 54GS v6 that is just pain used.  Both include antennas and power adapter.

8 BTC shipped to anywhere in USA
2490  Economy / Goods / Re: WTS Macbook Pro! on: January 26, 2012, 06:35:11 PM
Ok.  Let's get this started.  Since the seller is kojoking7, he needs to state where and how much the repayments are (in other words he has to publicly agree to what the others have stated as addresses) and we can get this done.  Please put it in one single post to this thread, not all spread out.  If this is to be all done in BTC I am fine with that, and I will turn my $600 into BTC.  If the exchange rate changes better or worse it will not matter.
2491  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BIP 16 / 17 in layman's terms on: January 26, 2012, 04:41:26 PM
You can not have a proper vote where if you do nothing a vote is counted one way, and do something (hard) the vote is counted the other.  You are going to get a # like 2% out of that.

A proper vote would be people put in a code if they are against it, and a code if they are for it.  Can you imagine if the only way we passed a law was if we needed YES votes totaling half of the population and made it so that the vast majority of voters would not have the technical skills to vote?
2492  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why do China products has poor quality? on: January 26, 2012, 12:52:51 AM
One thing nobody has brought up is that pretty much everything is made in China.

High end, well built products from Dell, Apple, pretty much any tech product?  All made in China, and all great quality.  The problem is not the Chinese, they are perfectly capable of building fantastic stuff.  The problem is when a company does not want the added expense of high quality production.

Completely false. Pretty much everything is assembled in China, thus the "Made in China" labels, but most of the parts are made in other countries. The iPhone, for example, is "Made in China," but China only contributes about $6.50 to the overall cost of the phone by putting the parts together. The parts themselves are made in Japan, Germany, Korea, Vietnam, etc.

Edit: Found the article http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704828104576021142902413796.html

True.  And now many of the A5 chips (The cpu) are made in the USA.  The article is wrong though, some other parts are made in China as well that bring the China content well over $6.50.
2493  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why do China products has poor quality? on: January 25, 2012, 11:18:45 PM
It is true that many products from China have poor quality, but almost all products from US are low quality.

I guess you are trolling but....

The US has made low quality products at times as Japan has as well.  In the 70's Japanese stuff really started to improve.  We really did say "cheap Japanese crap" back then.   In the 90's it was considered the best and in my mind recently has started to pull back in quality.

Same thing for Korean products.  When the Hyundai accent came to America it was just one (big) notch ahead of the Yugo.  It was junk.  Now Hyundai makes some of the best cars (right here in the USA even).

I currently can not think of many products that are US made that are of low quality.  In the 80's many American cars really sucked, but by the mid late nineties that started to change.  Today, American made cars are pretty close in quality to foreign cars, and in many cases the variances between models are greater then the variances between brands.

2494  Economy / Goods / Re: WTS Macbook Pro! on: January 25, 2012, 07:23:31 PM
The bounty for buying this MBP is now 15 BTC.
That's an effective discount of $90! (well, a bit more.)

@Littleshop: I hope that this entices you to offer $700, since you offered $600 before.

I am willing to do this under my terms.  Seller sends to me first and agrees payments go directly to creditors.  Creditors post addresses for repayment with amount owed and amount that is essential forgiven.  Seller agrees.  I get laptop in good condition with disks, box, power adapter.  I pay out $600 in coins to posted and agreed addresses.

There is another willing buyer above.  I am not anxious to do this so they might have better or different terms.

Wow.  I am floored!  This really looks good!
2496  Economy / Goods / Re: Reference fan for Radeon video cards $17.99 + 99 US shipping in BTC two $31.98 on: January 24, 2012, 11:04:45 PM
1 left.  After that it will be three weeks for me to get in new stock.  I ordered before Chinese new year, but my next order will not ship to me until that ends.

IF THE STATUS SAYS "PRE-ORDER" I am indeed out of stock and you will not get your fan quickly.

private keys punched or engraved into steel plates in a good sized safe would be pretty safe.  Fireproof to 1500+ degrees.

Best.  Trade.  Ever.

Thanks!  Very happy with trades from Frank90.
2499  Economy / Goods / Re: WTS Macbook Pro! on: January 23, 2012, 05:18:24 AM

If it is a 2009 I do have to drop my offer to $600.  In the Apple world a 2009 can be manufactured in 2010, it is still a 2009 model.
2500  Economy / Goods / Re: WTS Macbook Pro! on: January 23, 2012, 03:51:01 AM
I see these macbook pro's go for around 900$
Why not buy it then since it looks like $700 is the offer?

(free bump)
