Another interesting poll would be Occupation, too see if bitcoiners come from a wide range of industries,  or mostly tech related.
Yeah. I have one pre-done for education with results (never made a graph for it). I'll toss up an occupation poll with it. Would like to have a list of no more than 15 sectors, preferably under 10. Will look around and post within a couple hours.

i just coposed a post for that whitelist thread. As i hit 'post' i was logged out and my message was lost. Just f*** it. Also this is the second time i tipe in this very message. I take it as a bad omen and leave the same way i came in. I lost enough time here ... i will only be reading now - contribution failed and i feel offended by this interface. I will be writing in another forum if any at all ...
Have a good one.
This Chrome extension is creepy as fuck, but might be worth considering: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/comment-save/ndmcbhmmonjkclhmeidccodfhlifmmco?hl=en

I've had the same problem on some other forums. Spend a long time writing something, then a session timeout when you click "post." Click the back button and it's gone.

Fwiw.
2544  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 10 Hard drive GB gone after getting started with BTC on: July 30, 2013, 09:49:33 AM
Just for clarification - the blockchain will grow in size even if there is no growth in the number of Bitcoin users or transaction volume.

Here's a graph with historical and up-to-date blockchain size. https://blockchain.info/charts/blocks-size -- You can see the blockchain's growing ~700MB/month. If Bitcoin continues to grow in users and transactions, the rate of growth will increase. Aside light clients, there are other solutions being worked on regarding this issue.

Bitcoin holds some other files with the blockchain, which accounts for it being a GB or two over the size of the actual blockchain.
2545  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: 2013-07-29 Bitcoin Illegal in Thailand on: July 30, 2013, 08:30:21 AM
I don't understand why some people are so upset that Thailand central bankers said bitcoin is illegal? Did you really expect something different? I don't. This is just the beginning. More central bankers from other countries will follow.

Apparently, many of you forget that when it comes to money the central bankers are the law. The law is what they say is the law! If it was any different then Ben Bernanke would have already been in jail for printing out 85 billion counterfeit dollars every month.

There is no evidance they said that. This is from the understanding of a non thai lawyer.

I highly dobt op got much further than the lobby.
Whatever, Goat. Give it up. I can get you naturalized and renting anonymously in the US on the cheap. Grin You like brunettes?

It's time to empower ourselves.

Google knows who we are, what kind of music we listen to, and what we fap to. Check it out for yourself @ https://www.google.com/settings/u/0/ads/preferences (click "Control your ads settings." Click Edit next to Interests for the full lists.)
^Actually, their list for myself and the other person who responded suck, possibly due to low info. I allegedly like reggae and superhero films. He allegedly likes cosmetics and Bollywood.  Huh

The NSA knows who we are (even whether or not we're a citizen, with 50% confidence!), who we want to kill, and what we want to kill them with. For a full list, try a FOIA request. Good luck!

Anyway, let's see if there're any interesting generalities, or if trends emerge after some years of polling, among forum members. Statistics for the forum will be posted here as years pass and polls complete.

Without further ado, here is the list of threads with polls:

Please do not bump those threads, but rather discuss here, to keep down on the clutter. Smiley

If unknown, take quiz @ http://similarminds.com/jung.html (preferred -- shorter, seemingly more accurate) or http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes2.asp (not preferred, only use if you strongly disagree with first site's assessment. Remember, these quizes are only indicators. If you believe you're not XXXX, review the types listed and choose the type which you find best fits you.)

Sample size - 1022 07-09, 210 09-10, 221 10-11

Options and wording have been revised both in this poll from the 10-11 RPFs poll, as well as every single year for the RPFs polls. I've never been happy with it, and still am not. Nobody else is ever happy with this one, either. Cheesy

Wording change in this poll from previous:
OLD:Which of the following religious ideologies do you most identify with?
NEW:Which of the following religious ideologies/organizations do you most identify with?
-Merged some Christian denominations into "Other"
-Added denominations to Muslim
-Probably to outrage, I made up an arbitrary religion called "Eastern" with denominations including Buddhist and Hindu. Feel free to call me a shitbag for it. Smiley

Issue: X was raised Y, but is now Z. Does X identify with Y because X's family is Y and celebrates Y's traditions, or with Z because it's what he believes in.
*In such a case, I'd advise to vote Z.
Issue: Atheism is in a different category than "non-religious." wtf?
*I'm taking the position that Atheism is a committed belief. This is obviously a contentious position. If you believe you are more "non-religious" than "atheist," please select the non-religious option.
Issue: Graph is missing options.
*Yep. Done to keep the graph readable and small. All results are in there, but they have been merged into more broad categories.

Sample size - 315 08-09, 141 09-10, 59 10-11

Wording is NOT preserved for this particular poll, because it was A)designed for a US forum and B)always contentious due to how specific you can get. I instead decided to change course and instead ask which language a person most frequently speaks. Due to polling limitations, there are some very notable absences in this list, and I expect a strong showing in "Other." The list contains only the most-spoken languages in the world.

(P.S. Words like "spic" were the "shorthand" for the limited space available for the graph -- it obviously wasn't the poll option  Wink)

I think we can connect the second one with a certain social point existing in certain countries.
I think it's actually a spoof on a semi-popular piece depicting an octopus or squid (don't remember) in almost exactly the same position, in almost the same style. I'll look it up later when back home. You can bet on that.

ETA: I know what I'm thinking of, and sure it exists, but I've gone through a lot of octopus and squid porn, unable to find it. Soz.

Eventually. There's still a lot that needs to be done before it's fit for public consumption, and there hasn't been a lot of interest so far when I first posited the possibility.
Must've missed it. I'll toss in a .1BTC bounty to whatever bounty's already posted, if any.
2555  Other / Off-topic / Re: Name some good stratergy games on: July 29, 2013, 08:42:05 PM
Like I said, where's the imagination? Why does everyone have to use World War 2? What's stopping them from having their own huge battles in a made up game world instead? It's not a strategy but I think Planetside 2 did a fantastic job with the scale ( everything else sucks really ) of the game you play that game and you can see players duking it out across an entire canyon, nevermind all the tanks and air pilots going by Cheesy.

If you wanna stick with the world war 2 theme fine or use a historical theme from elsewhere good, I don't see why it all needs to be laughably historical though.
Oh -- someone mention Dominions 2/3, yet?

Awesome strategy game with non-Tolkien fantasy theme. You give detailed combat orders for leaders and units before they go into battle - no ability to change course once they're going at it. Tons of unique races with their own benefits and drawbacks (some with massive changes in how the game mechanics work, on top of unique units and leaders). They probably could've gotten away with selling the games with a few races, then selling the others as DLC. It's the only series I can think of where scouting's done properly, too - where you don't get some arbitrary combat bonus, outside of knowing the make-up of squads, which is actually very useful since you can only decide what your armies will do before actually attacking. They also get the concept of "perfect imbalance" done.... perfectly! Reminds me... I haven't played the series in years....

Well, this sounds me a mix of Starcraft 2 and Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War, what seens a lot of interesting.
Could share more info like website of games?
http://www.illwinter.com/dom3/

Oh - ETA: The DRM on that can be a bitch. If you decide to pirate before buying, write a key on paper, then type it in. You can't copy/paste a key, and it seems able to detect if you alt-tab in and out. If it doesn't work the first time you enter the code, uninstall, reinstall, and try again. You'll know you fucked up if you close D3, open it again, and the UI's missing in-game. I don't keep physical manuals around because it isn't 1980. I have receipts of the purchases in my email account, but they only distributed keys in the physical manual, so I had to pirate yet another game I own.  Roll Eyes

2558  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do most Bitcoiners seem intelligent? on: July 29, 2013, 08:04:51 PM
There is a poll in another thread that shows that this forum has a MUCH higher rate of INTJ/INTPs than the general population. That group is generally more intelligent than the rest, and I agree with other comments here: Bitcoin simply attracts certain types of people. Specifically introverted logical types.
Here's one for ya, bro. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=93514.msg1034403#msg1034403

Includes stats for Ronpaulforums from a few years ago, compared to general population. Has a decent sample size. I haven't tried demographics polling for this forum, but from the responses, looks like it'd be about a mirror. Same with 4chan, though I haven't properly polled them, either (kind of difficult). It'd be very interesting to try segregating data collection by the type of people in the community. For example, is there a significant difference between the Voorhees, Vers, and Shrems versus the smoothies, danks, and Atlases? Something to do later, I guess.

Though - the biggest flaw in this information, is that it only polls people in an online forum, which probably itself skews results strongly toward INTx types.
