What a crappy end of the race...
They could have been hurrying a little and get at least 1-2 laps without safety car...

Oh well... Max won again..
Bad luck for Checo, he has lost too many points to gain the fastest lap.
And Nyck has made points, which is wonderful!

I would prefer the square brackets (bold or not).

And on the discussion about getting this actually implemented I would say that indeed it may have a better chance to come as BPIP extension (and yes, it would be nice to not interfere with the DT mark the BPIP extension already adds).

The news area could need more newspaper sources, not only CoinTelegraph Wink (I don't know, btctimes and others, although I know that if they're too many you'll end up with duplications)

Easy to deal with duplications if Regex is used

I've seen in the past a crypto news aggregator with many sources. I don't know if they were using Regex or not (heck, I don't even remember which aggregator it was), but I remember I've seen the same news in many places with somewhat different title and wording. I don't know how good can Regex handle this.

However, the fact the ATMs are not working 24/7 is unexplainable for me. That part I simply fail to understand. One thing would be they don't replenish them often enough (lack of personnel), but.. are they saving energy, or are they so afraid of thieves?! (the costs are imho small, so cost cutting alone doesn't explain that)

Never heard of such a thing in my life, I know of special ATMs that are meant for all the possible transactions including deposits and currency exchange to be locked inside the bank and only available at banking ours, but normal ATMs with a schedule? No way!

Me neither, still I don't claim to know everything on this world and strange / meaningless things can happen.
And although OP has done mistakes and now he went overly defensive, it could have been nice to see him clear this up.

@Agbe: you've started this topic with a mistake (and I'm being nice) related to the images. People getting now overly cautious about your every word is pretty much a normal development. So (as an advice you take into account or not, up to you) you should calm down before any answer you want to give.
2565  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: F1 Formula Sports Racing - Sportsbet.io promotions & discussion thread on: September 11, 2022, 08:33:01 AM
I think Ferrari can take the win at his home race.

Obviusly, if they dont make any mistake.

But i dont see the clear advantage in favour of them, so they have to take care of RedBull and Max Verstappen.

Well said. Also with the grid penalty Max has got, Leclerc clearly has a bit of advantage.
Even more, Alonso, Ricci, Lando Norris or Russell may give some hard times to Max, meaning lost time and extra tyre wear, all playing in the favor of Leclerc.
We will have to see whether the RBR cars are still that much better than the rest, like they were in the past 2 races. It may be a close call (and hopefully a race very nice to see). Right now Leclerc seems to have a slight advantage.

My eyes are also on Nyck de Vries, I wish he gets some points.

I've been feeling a bit unwell today, so unfortunately I will have to delay this week's payment by ~16 hours to finish up this week's post counting. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Get well, all the rest can wait.

Thank you for submitting the form. If I hadn't thought of this, I'd spare more hours on designing it. I'll abandon it for now, unless there's more demand. The topic remains normally open.

I didn't want to give false hopes... and now I've become the party crasher Sad
I'm sorry  Sad
2568  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Did ChipMixer made hundreds of mllion of dollars? on: September 09, 2022, 11:21:06 AM
Why else would you want a bitcoin mixer?

I will give you an analogy:
Why are you closing and even locking your door? It means (by your logic) that you must be doing something illegal there.
(also by extending that logic) If you would have nothing to hide, you would have no curtains, the door open and even advertising your address and what goods you keep at home.

This user ChipMixer had make ten of millions if not hundreds of millions from his site what you think?

Show some proof and maybe you can have some basis for a discussion. Else I could argue (for the fun of it) that you have made billions for selling meth.
2569  Other / Meta / Re: Am I allowed to throw a small giveaway? on: September 09, 2022, 10:39:02 AM
AFAIK I didn't remove that thread. If it were up to me, I would've just deleted the post with the address (as well as any subsequent posts of such nature).

If this sounded like an attack or complaint, apologies for that, it's not intended.
My intention is to give all the details, be constructive, see what we can do, since it's not the first request like this (although I also agree they're were very few), especially as I expect OP is disappointed by how the things have gone.
2570  Other / Meta / Re: [In Development] Lightning forum tips on: September 09, 2022, 10:13:52 AM
Also, it doesn't help that Bitcoin is literally treated like it's gold dust around here.

My expectations are that in the future - quite a good number of years - maybe Bitcoin will be treated less like "my preciousssss" and more like actual money.
Then this could get more traction.

The point about the info already available is also good, although some just don't know how to use it for their specific case and that will still be/keep being helpful.
2571  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fiat Banks Conspiracy Against Customers. Bitcoin is the Best Option on: September 09, 2022, 10:03:31 AM
Banks are capable of providing customer friendly services [...] They are using that method to reduce cost. They don't want to buy more machines and employ workers to dispatch the crowd.

I've said from start that all this is about cutting costs.
Now, the 24/7 ATMs usually brings them good benefit vs cost ratio, unless the number of ATM heists is big.
There may be however another reason for this, read below.

The new approach is that, if you want to withdraw cash in the banking hall, they won't allow you to withdraw you own money if it is below $80 to $100.

I think that they may "skip a step" and try to move in the direction Europe is moving.
In Europe they started reducing the number of employees and convince people use online banking an ATMs. Of course, in order to be able to do all operations, from paying bills to depositing money, they need a different, more complex (and probably more expensive) type of ATMs. Maybe, just maybe, that's (also) why the number of ATMs is low (and if I'm right, the numbers will rise).

I didn't want to answer because I don't want to give false hopes. Maybe I'm too negativist, but I don't think that this will get enough traction on short term. Maybe on long term.
No offense, the idea / project is good, but I feel like the vast majority on bitcoinitalk is not generous.

Even more, my use of LN is limited yet (yes, shame on me). I do have, however, a LN wallet in Blue Wallet (custodial). Maybe, with some guidance, I will do even better.

Code:
1. I would want such service: Yes, sure
2. I have a Lightning node running: No
4. If I don't have a Lightning node running, I'd still want a tipping service with an option to not hold custody of funds: Yes
5. I prefer paying in: I don't know. I don't know the difference
6. I want my tipping be shown just as merit (i.e., "merited by BlackHatCoiner (8)"): it doesn't matter to me
7. If such service was available I'd submit my node to earn tips: Yes, but will probably need guidance
2573  Other / Meta / Re: Am I allowed to throw a small giveaway? on: September 09, 2022, 09:35:11 AM
If you're OK with accepting entries via PM or off-site (e.g. via Google Forms) as opposed to posting them in one or more threads (which isn't allowed), yeah, you are. Post it in Bounties (Altcoins).

I've just looked it up and from what I see:
* In Bounties (Altcoins) one of the pinned posts tells "Giveaway threads are not allowed"
* OP has tried to start a giveaway, but
** somebody has ignored OP request (for PM) and answered with address
** the whole topic got removed (found topic 5412920 in modlog)

While I understand that the rules are there to avoid mindless spam, I also feel for users like OP and maybe we can do something about it.
I mean, look at the sheer number of (nice!) raffles in collectible section. Maybe we should somehow find a solution for this?

So i feel generous and i would like to give someone 25 bucks in litecoin am I allowed to do that? No rules nothing to do

Giveaway with no rules means some may create 100s of new accounts to participate. Maybe you want to do better  Wink

You asked for a way to keep news filters between sessions. We delivered this into production this morning.

While the filters are remembered as long as I navigate defidive, if I close the tab and open it again, that's lost.
I am telling this just as "debug info" in case you need it, since for me you've handled the problem gracefully with this other approach:

Filters are now added to the URL so you can bookmark a selection of filtered news that you want to see.

So yes, I've made the correct bookmark and I'm good. Thank you.
Even more, I see you have at least one more news source, very nice, keep'em coming!  Smiley

LE: can you please add (sometime in the future, no rush) also Monero to the list of coins for news/filters?

as it is not longer "Ferrari are the fastest on straight tracks, RB on corners". And about home track - of course you may feel better "at home", but also there are bigger expectations (and pressure).

Max said (ironically) not long ago something like his car is the fastest on the straits, and on the corners too  Smiley
The thing is that after the last two races he looks like the most solid option for the winner, but F1 tends to offer suprises.

If we're lucky and Ferrari stops sabotaging himself, maybe we get a better chance to see some good racing either between RBR and Ferrari, either between Ferrari and Mercedes.
2576  Economy / Reputation / Re: User DigitalMonk - suspicious behavior! on: September 09, 2022, 07:41:27 AM
In the end, the highest punishment would be the thread locked or messages deleted.

Actually the highest punishments go until temporary or permanent ban. Just look for game-protect, who has taken trolling and scam to a completely new level.

Could it be that trolls are handled case by case?

Clearly.

But in the case of the alleged monk, it could be that the mods figured out that his posts are full of frivolities and hence dismissed and marked them unharmful. In the case that Monk want to involve in business, he already got neg tags and a flag in his profile. I believe he should be very much harmless now.

I can't say what the mods think; I've done my part, although now I feel the (neutral) tag I've given him was almost too soft.
I see now he's playing the victim card: he has a new topic asking why is he hated by the leaders of the forum (heh).
2577  Economy / Reputation / Re: Why I have been hated by the Bitcoin Forum leaders? on: September 09, 2022, 07:33:32 AM
Some people think I could be troll.

Let me see:
  • you have announced you've made a bitcoin service, but your questions show you have not even the basic knowledge about Bitcoin
--> This means that you put people's money at risk, hence you can easily be tagged as scammer

  • you have asked people to help you build a block explorer which you don't even know if it's meant to be block explorer, DEX or OTC exchange
--> This means that you are trolling and have no respect for people's work/effort

  • you have announced some strange ambassador program you implied you're offering (big) money, but you've never shown any proof of money (nor promised at least to escrow it)
--> This is somewhere trolling and scam

People don't care about your name. People don't hate you per se; people hate to be taken for fools and this is what your actions are implying, hence the response you've got.

So maybe instead of asking why the community is doing this, you should start asking what you have been doing wrong.
2578  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fiat Banks Conspiracy Against Customers. Bitcoin is the Best Option on: September 09, 2022, 07:22:56 AM
In a country where everyone is trying to enrich their generation, where an average person called leaders been corrupt but ones giving a slight opportunity they do worse, where do you think the hope lies?

My country is not far from that either. But, 25 years ago for example, it was much worse.

It takes years to get things right

Yep, many years.

Africa is facing backwardness in fighting corruption, religious difference, nepotism and Self-interest

It's not something specific to Africa. Same goes on in Eastern Europe too. So you're not telling me anything new. This still happens here too.

and it has killed the political interest in me totally

This is exactly what the bad politicians want: kill the interest in the smart people so the dumb masses keep voting for them. One solution is to disrupt the system with new political parties, with better goals than only getting rich. But that too has more chances for failure than success. As I said from the start, all this goes painfully slow and there are (far too) many disappointments.

---
However, let's get back to the actual topic: banks are private businesses. They have a predatory mentality and will go for their sole interest if they're allowed.
Since politics is slow and tricky solution, Bitcoin remains the proper option, clearly.

And I was just thinking... Africa also has smart people, Africa must also have smart programmers; while people don't tell their nationality in most cases, I have a feeling Africa is under-represented as developers for bitcoin tools. Am I wrong?
2579  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fiat Banks Conspiracy Against Customers. Bitcoin is the Best Option on: September 08, 2022, 01:40:35 PM
I have never and will never fabricate story. If because of the pictures you said the story is fake. The images are models to the information.

The most problematic image have shown the queue of people waiting, which may or may not have been happening in your case.
However, I do hope you're telling the truth, at least in the text you wrote.

Next time, you better post your own images (nowadays everybody has a smartphone and it's not hard to make a few pictures if you really want to) or live without them, instead of using others' images which, as you've seen, may easily come with extra troubles (even if you are not lying, this can be seen as plagiarism now).
2580  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Giveaway section on: September 08, 2022, 12:00:19 PM
I want to throw a small giveaway cause Im feeling a bit generous is there a specified section for it? or where I can post it?

Very nice from you!
First of all, this question may need to be moved to Meta.
Second, in order to get an answer, you'll have to tell a bit more, like what you plan to give, since it depends whether it's bitcoin, or altcoin, or goods, for example.
