Not sure if I see just dust or cobwebs? Wonder if this contributed to the problem?

here are screenshots of the working s3 miner

On the config page as long as you saved and applied then even if the that pool information is wrong it still should show up on the miner status page but they would be dead ...the status is not showing anything? The reset button would have defaulted back to Bitmains pool information also...not sure what is going on.
263  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Can't Log in to S3 Antminer on: June 27, 2015, 11:31:14 PM
I just turned the power off on one miner during firmware upgrade.  Is there anyway to save it with a serial-usb connector or router connection?  Shipping it to Bitmain would be expensive maybe not a great solution for me.
yeah it's showing 0s for the 3 pools

So I can't just take the cover off and reset it and it will restore the firmware/software to the original programming?

You can still try the reset button depending where it was on the firmware update?

Not sure what you mean showing 0's for the pool .... can you get to the status page on the miner? post a screen shot if you can. I am wondering if you have the pool information and workers info right?
264  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Can't Log in to S3 Antminer on: June 27, 2015, 11:18:21 PM
the one miner was upgrading firmware and then I turned it off because it was taking a while.  Now I can't even see it on ip scan.  I can get the other miner into config but it's not mining even though I setup the worker name on a pool.  I just reset my laptop and LAN came back with the other miner s3 but the firmware issue miner isn't even accessible or showing up on ipscan

If you shut the miner off while upgrading the firmware I think that one will need to be sent to Bitmain. The other miner you say is not mining ...what does the miner status page say about the 3 pools Dead or alive?
265  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Can't Log in to S3 Antminer on: June 27, 2015, 11:02:58 PM
thanks very much!!!  I was into the s3 config screen with an ethernet cable and LAN.  But suddenly after I changed the IP, DHCP, WAN, WWAN settings my LAN just disappeared from the network center.  I tried to upgrade the firmware on one s3, now it powers up more slowly and the fan isn't on.

well, I can't get the reset button to depress with a long tipped pen, maybe I should find a screwdriver.  I installed Putty, but it can't access the s3 through 192.168.1.99 and on the site it says it could destroy the miner?

Pull the cover if needed so you can see the button. If not don't push so hard that you break the button or something else. (i thought some reported that the reset button didn't work for them)
Also remember once you push the reset the IP address will default. To make things easier for me I downloaded FLING to my smart phone so I could see all the IP addresses being used on my router. You can then check make sure nothing else is using the same IP address.
266  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Can someone recommend? on: June 27, 2015, 10:41:26 PM
I may buy a few Antminer S5s.

I'm looking for feedback on this miner from owners...i.e. should I just wait for the next gen given the very slight efficiency over S4s? Also, if I decide to get some S5s, what is a good PSU in terms of "bang for your buck"?

Thanks.

Not much out there that is better than a S5 right now. I like my RM1000 and RM850 PSU's
267  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [CLOSING JUNE 30] BTC Guild - Pays TxFees+NMC, Stratum, VarDiff, Private Servers on: June 27, 2015, 10:35:54 PM
The domain will not be sold until 2016 or later.  I will not be selling it to somebody so they can redirect stratum.btcguild.com to their own server right after the pool shuts off.

Why would anybody think otherwise from a guy that has been a class act for years! Sorry to see the pool shut down but good luck with whatever you do in the future eleuthria.

Your not begging hard enough... Embarrassed

Our combined oustanding balance in queue to be paid is 177.17962648 Bitcoin.

Hi,
What happens to the Namecoin balance if it's less than the minimum...will we be able to withdraw them manually at some point?

The 0.00xxxxx NMC balances will be funding my mansion...made of cardboard....and roughly the size of a car.  These amounts are worth less than half of a penny.
Please accept my current balances of 0.00828663BTC and 0.00021412 NMC at BTC Guild as a donation towards your new mansion.  Maybe you'll be able to upgrade to corrugated cardboard now Tongue

I was thinking he could use that donation to buy a knife  so his mansion can have windows... Wink

Best thread in a while Tongue By the way I've got insects every where, fruit flies if anyone knows how to get rid of them HELP!
Time for another gin. Good luck on the pool.

OK fruit flies.... take a glass and pour about 1/2 inch of wine in glass. Clover top with plastic stretch wrap ( like saran wrap) take a fork and punch some small holes in the top maybe like 6, set glass in kitchen counter or where you see the fruit flies.... you will be surprised how many you catch. make sure you leave it out for a week or two after you see the last fly as they hatch new ones I think in 5-7 days.   If you have a lot of fruit flies set out 3 or 4 traps in different areas. Then don't let the rest of the wine go to waste.. Wink

I just finished deploying a great CKPOOL as a private pool .

If anyone interesting to mine to my pool he will be welcome .

The main benefit of private pool is user will mine alone until block discovered so no competitors there , Only one user , and we will share the full reward of 25 BTC .

  • I will provide user access to pool server after agreement.

  • My plan is to create one private pool for every user.

  • Pool still in develop mode , it may not be stable yet but working very good.

Programmers are welcome too .

Finally thanks to -CK , Many pools are using his pool's code .

Pm if you have any idea or you can link power.

Why would anybody do this and not just mine at CK's solo pool themselves??

You mean you didn't understand anything .

I mention that working alone in pool will safe your hash as no competitors with you , you will mine alone until you discover the block .

or you can gambling with 100 users and waste your hash power.

I will Accept users in private pool with minimum 50 TH .

User will mine until to hit the block or Orphan block recorded .

Correct ... I don't understand anything about your plans
272  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: best pool on: June 12, 2015, 09:31:00 AM
I write this to see if I do not understand anything, and or just the truth, I have tried so many pools, antpool, f2pool, nicehash, ghash.io, p2pool, multiPool, but no one pays me as pay bitcoin.cz, now correct me if I'm wrong, I have 4 x antminer s5, not overclock, then 4500 gh / s every two days I btc 0.110 BTC I try other pools and nobody can pay me more than bitcoin.cz, yet this pool does not enjoy much luck. knows someone explain why? Huh Huh

If your happy with Slush's pool then stay. Its a good pool when the luck is good and the payment system works right.

Wow, How many pools are on the solopool?
I know one I'm in that is sending 400TH, another friend was sending 400TH yesterday, this guy with 800+TH, but every time I checked the pool hash total was around 1.5PH?

I am sending 100TH again by myself today. Was hoping that last block was mine but no luck yet.

278  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Ckpool Solo Setup mark 2 - An alternative on: May 31, 2015, 09:47:47 AM
Oh, I understand the whys and wherefores, it's just the principle that bugs me I guess.  But I wish you guys the best of luck, and will be following along in the various threads.

I just don't understand the difference.  It does not matter if 1 or 50 people solo mining they have the same odds of hitting a block.  And splitting cost's makes it more affordable for the "little guys".

I think we agree on best of luck to the miners though.

The difference here, is that if 1 of those 50 people find a block you still lose.
But if youre working in a team, you will win most of the time.

The odds are the same but I agree with a team it brings in more BTC to attempt it with which adds time.

Are people against "little miners" getting those rewards?  I just think good for them, I have no ill will to the groups.   Granted it would be nice the pool I am using gets the blocks Smiley I don't mind these little groups getting blocks.

I suppose the biggest issue would be it drives up rental prices due to demand.
Next issue is  people rent  miners at nicehash with an auto discard of all shares over 75 billion (ie a withholding attack)

But these issues would already happen  when hot 256 coins came up prices jump.

and anyone that hates f2pool or BAN pool can send withholding  winning hash miners through westhash and nicehash to attack  those 2 pps pools .

When a hot coin come's up you are right it could not compete.  Nicehash has at times paid crazy good amounts.  This seems to have  slowed down though, and they seem to be around 100 or even below sometimes.

It would drive up rental prices.  So if multiple groups are running it would cut profit's for all.  So if groups are managed by different people this could be a issue.

Any effect on price I think is short term as most groups will be renting a large amount of hash (500-1000THS) but its only for a short while (24-48 hours). I really think the false floor that West/Nicehash is using does more to keeping prices high.

Im trying to disable the beeper ringing option buy it keeps setting back to on. Anyone know the solution to this? I have the miners in an office and can't have these things going off like crazy if the internet goes down.

Im thinking about just ripping the beeper of the mobo...

the only solution is to carefully take the top board off (its not screwed on or anything, it just unplugs), and put some tape (i used electrical tape) and put it over the speaker.

even if you uncheck the box, they still beep when they lose internet.

Yes, but aren't S5's known to sometimes overheat when the internet goes down and there's no hashing going on?  I personally added a rear fan and wired it to a full 12v so it's always running full out even if the internet goes down and the controller board signals slow or no fan speed.

I have had one since batch one.  Never once have I had it go crazy on heat when losing internet.  It makes a beep as my alarm is turned on.

But it stops  hashing.  And this causes it to actually cool down at least on one I'm using.
Notlist3d I agree with you as I have had my internet down for days and never seen anything over heat just a lot of beeping. It would be easy to check by unplugging the Ethernet cable and watch the watts at the wall.
