Every

Since even reasonable peeps could agree to disagree on the number of syllables in ev-er-y.. and let's just act like the second e does not exist with the ev... and go into mushing the ery because that's what the dictionary says.

Only two syllables, even though it looks like three:

[..link to proofs, maths, engrish and sciences snipped..]

bruh

the number of syllables depends on how drunk one is. nothing else.

Sure we are getting close to the lower end of the don't wake me up range, so it is not clearly any kind of expectation that "we" are going to break below the range, even though surely the whole situation may well be feeling a bit dire at the moment to both be dancing below the 200-week moving average and also at the bottom of the don't wake me up range...

ok maybe its the pain meds or maybe i just missed this definition somewhere (or im just stupid lol) but what is this "dont wake me up range" you speak of?

....I don't know if you are into computer programming or computer related stuffs because I understand that Bitcoin resonate more with people like that given its technical nature.

I would not characterize myself as much of a techie.. and sometimes the techies get caught up into shitcoins because they find the shitcoins to be more flexible in their programmability.. .. so I am not sure if techies get bitcoin earlier than others, even though they likely have a lot of advantages in terms of understanding ways to protect their stash.. but even some techies can get caught up in their own tech and screw things up which seems to have contributed to how Luke Dasher had ended up losing around 200 BTC last year.

odohu has a point; it was my interest in computers and related tech, specifically distributed computing projects like folding@home and SETI@home, that gave me a head start in bitcoin.

ie back in the day (say 2011/2012), many peeps 1st experience with btc was buying from an exchange (mtgox maybe..) which takes a lot faith and trust in that exchange especially when sending kyc docs or btc to.

so for the 1st few years my coins were basically mined with GPUs (and later fpga) directly.. no exchange used. that alone gives a bit of a head start.. so when btc began gaining value some of us already had some that we had just hodled as really there wasnt much else to do with btc back then..

Bitcoin being stocked at a little over $29k is getting a some people tensed... I know that may be the reason for the reactions here.

  Roll Eyes

what has this thread devolved into

its bitcoin. the price is the price. basically, the sooner you realize that the better.

[...] and the sells are $500 increments until $31.5k-ish then they go into $1k increments, and they slowly get bigger and BIGger and BIGGER... until $5k increments between $120k-ish and $150k-ish..
[...]

The royal we are already sorry for your loss. May I ask what is causing the compulsory selling (since $300 or so)?

?

some peeps have always have sells laddered and waiting.

cost basis has a lot to do with it. hard to lose when its below $100 usd

Both Phil and I have posted quite a bit of crap through the years, and it may well take a lot of work for anyone, who would be ready, willing and able to compile such a thing (and to have talents in terms of creativity to be able to make the mundane seem interesting or to have some kind of a reason for needing to do it.. in which some audience would appreciate as well), and surely if such a person were to have any kind of theme for his/her book (and ways to divide chapters) besides random brainstorming, then I still have my doubts regarding whether you, me and Philip have enough of a kind of interest story - yet sometimes people might become more famous and/or interesting when they are dead too (because once they are dead, their story is locked in. but there would still need to be some interesting substance behind the person besides just a bunch of random and quasi-incoherent posts)... even though surely many people would not necessarily either mind having recognition of some kinds of contributions in their lives, whether it is through forums like this or otherwise that some folks might be able to appreciate.

iow

everything i really needed to know in life i learned in the bitcointalk forums

the fifth force of nature?

meh.

they need not bother looking; the 5th force of nature is, of course, stupidity. no other force even comes close.

fair warning guys im loaded on pain meds from a back fusion.. and just as i recall when i was addicted to opioids many many decades ago, that pain relief can come with an unholy cost. glad i (just barely) beat it then. hope to beat it again and be off the opioids in a few more days.

so who knows what degen thoughts may leak out into any post i may or may not make in the next few days.

ceteris paribus.

+ merit for learning me something new

If you know it, you know it.

I will find out.

276  Economy / Reputation / Re: 10 Years on: August 01, 2023, 05:05:40 PM
yeah. a lot of interesting stuff happened for both the forum and btc over the last decade. seems like a lot got jammed into that time frame. wild ride man

congrats on 10 years!
Now about you - don't you intend to celebrate your 12th birthday in the forum with the community even though it has been passed 20 days ago?

vapourminer - of course this is a joke, but I think users like you deserve to celebrate here. Having over 1 decade on a forum is a pretty great experience - not many users survive that long if they are early adopters of bitcoin.

i probably snoozed through my 12 year anniversary. im pretty sure of that as i spend a lot of time snoozing, so the odds are good.

surprisingly, snoozing works very well with bitcoin. its like automatic hodl.

278  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Full relay : cost and benefits on: July 30, 2023, 11:02:19 AM
my issue is bandwidth, not storage and im sure im not alone.
How about keeping up with new blocks? That takes about 6-16 GB per month. Isn't that too much already? I wouldn't want to do that on mobile data.

i ran core overnight and shut it down during the day as my internet was basically unusable when core was syncing.

50 gb/month was one cap i lived under for many years.

279  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Full relay : cost and benefits on: July 30, 2023, 10:27:10 AM
I never knew the storage space required to manage a full node now is near ~ 500 GB. That's crazy I would say, someone from a third world country with a poor internet connection might not be able to set it up for himself or herself when it's 500 GB, they might get timed out by their Internet Service Provider, doesn't that make it only First World Country ability to run a full node? They should work on it's optimization and make it available for everyone who belives in Bitcoin.

You're exaggerating. Unless the ISP offer very low data cap or FUP, downloading ~500GB blockchain is possible, although it would take some time. When i initially run full node, i remember it took few weeks to download whole blockchain.

youre forgetting those of us who have no wired service. its all satellite/4g in our world. it would take literally many, many months to sync from genesis.

my issue is bandwidth and data caps, not storage. and im sure im not alone. 1st world status means nothing when the nearest infrastructure is miles away.

280  Other / Meta / Re: Merit source and top merit earners on: July 25, 2023, 07:00:52 PM
Merit sources are chosen after an application where they have to meet some criteria.

some are that way. but many of us never applied and just logged in one day and were informed we were now merit sources.
