261  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: August 10, 2013, 03:15:23 AM
One year ago, a small group of individuals with a grand vision came together and collaborated their efforts. They shared their idea with the community, allowing others to join in the project to come. Within 6 months, they started the largest collective mine and are now considered one of the most (if not the most) successful Bitcoin companies.

Happy Birthday/Anniversary, BitFountain/ASICMiner! May you have many more.

Don't Buy them when Bitcoin is the only payment available!!

I believe ASICMiner is the exception to this.  Tongue

We'll see... There's a big problem for folks in the states... Coinbase is effectively down.  No transfers going through.

Could you clarify this? Source?

RALLY!

Makes sense, all DIY projects are now at a standstill with the chips in customs.

Gen 3 AND 4 huh?

It's going to be an interesting fall.

With all these mining companies coming up, petahashes (PH/s) is now the "norm". Friedcat now has the go ahead to start prepping the exahashes (EH/s), without worry of the upcoming total network hashrate.  Cool

People, stop feeding the troll. This guy has also mentioned an incoming fork to Bitcoin, converting to scrypt.

Move along folks, nothing to see here.
272  Economy / Securities / Re: [BTCT.CO] [IPO] [FAQ]BTCGARDEN MINER---Eyes to the horizon on: August 05, 2013, 03:55:15 PM
Unless this company starts providing updates and shows some forward progress, they're going to have a really hard time dumping another 2 million shares at above .016. we're on track to be .01 by Monday. Not looking good.

It's Monday. Sky didn't fall, stock is at IPO price ... sorry Rawted, but I'm using this as an example of the kind of thing most investors would do well to ignore.

Want to try and time the market and day trade? Go ahead and participate in these discussions and see if a few will panic sell every time someone slams an investment or news does or doesn't happen. Want to make long term returns? Have some patience and the will to ignore the noise.

This post is making too much sense...

Since the story turned out to be bogus, does this mean that AM stock is going to skyrocket?

Yes.

275  Economy / Securities / Re: [BTCT.CO] [IPO] [FAQ]BTCGARDEN MINER---Eyes to the horizon on: August 04, 2013, 04:51:18 PM
High IPO price + increase in btc/usd price + stagnant company = no chance of those 2 million shares (that are guaranteed to be coming sometime, without notice) being able to be sold above .016, unless something drastically changes.

Aiwill addressed this already:

Thankx so much for the translation although in my side its more or less inaccurate. Smiley

Here re lines about the 2ed-batch.

1. Please notice that: All of you 1st batch of shareholders ,without whom neither this IPO nor our big project would be possible , are our most precious capital. We are  in the same boat and we promise to do our best to line your pockets.

2. Please notice that the 2ed batch of BTCGARDEN will

*be impossible to issue before we reach a significant milestone in the development of our project.

*a portion of 2nd batch shares will be used for "protecting the interests" of our shareholders, which means that there is a possibility that we will not issue all of the 2nd batch of 2,000,000 shares in future. I cannot expand this at the moment but I d like to say this could be a very good deal/offer to all our shareholders.

*Certainly , the price of 2ed will be higher than the 1st.
276  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER Speculation Thread on: August 03, 2013, 01:43:43 PM
whats up with the price drop now? Huh

People have limited bitcoins. If you want to invest in (yet) another start-up, you've gotta get the coins from somewhere. Now if only there was a way to make coins yourself  Grin

I believe that's called a "day job", where you earn fiat and then convert to BTC.
277  Economy / Securities / Re: [BTC-TC] Virtual Community Exchange w/ Options, DRIP, 2FA, API, CSV, etc. on: August 02, 2013, 10:48:54 PM
Just wondering on the thoughts of possibly having a public asset list, similar to BitFunder? Has this been discuss? Benefits and drawbacks of implementing this?

Mostly unnecessary as the asset issuers have lists of all shareholders already.  If btct.co goes down, the asset can live on with little interruption.

True but it also serves an additional function: it allows shareholders to indirectly know XXXX account owns this number of shares. In the instance of Labcoin, many investors are worried that the asset issuer could sell off shares. The IPO contract states that they would hold 30% of all shares for ownership. This method would assist in that.

No, you guys are approaching it wrong. It's following Facebook's aesthetics.

Look at Coinbase, now look at Facebook...
280  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: August 02, 2013, 07:10:31 PM
If you're uncertain don't sell it all, keep a fraction. Also re-investing all your BTC into equity is risky, because it exposes you to having to short sell. Don't get infected by the rampage going on in other stocks. Do your due diligence. Holding BTC is still a good strategy if you don't have the time to make bitcoin related investment decisions, because BTC itself is a commodity which is bound to appreciate and it has no counter-party risk.

Spray and pray can work - but only if you don't miss the golden goose. The mining landscape becomes more crowded now since the run-up in bitcoin price (which makes the NRE costs worth it). Please know that most of these offerings are a strategy of these companies to outsource the investment risk - i.e. the NRE and initial production costs - while retaining a large fraction of the equity. If these companies don't make back their NRE and production costs in yield (given they don't fail), then you're looking at an overvaluation at IPO. In that case it is prudent to wait until the valuation has adjusted to fairly priced.

The situation for ASICMINER is slightly different than for newcomers. ASICMINER is already well capitalized and can use proceeds to grow the operation and business. It would require a massive VC funding to get any of the newcomers equally capitalized. Thus ASICMINER has less risk exposure. However, as stated elsewhere, the pricing for ASICMINER has less room for growth (if you're searching for the 10-fold investment type).

+1, well said.
