I think it depends, how much profit can you expect from a coin that's already $60k?
This was said when Bitcoin was $20k, but yet, there was still so much room for growth, $60k is not the top and there is still room for growth.
Also, profits of 20, 50 or 100% is considered very good in business, Bitcoin and some other cryptocurrencies have grown far beyond that over the years, but it's not the current standard, and if we chase very huge gains, we'll take lots of risk and end up losing out.
2622  Other / Meta / Re: Disadvantages of non detectable early Plagiarism on: November 23, 2021, 08:11:39 PM
<snip>
One way to search for plagiarism is to run a part of the text through Google search engine for matches. You can customize your search by adding quotes to the text, this would create a search for the exact text and not related ones which search engines normally use. This is good for exposing copy pastes, but would not exactly work for word spinners and paraphrases

There are also some plagiarism tools which can show the percentage of plagiarism in a text, but I've personally not used any of them.
2623  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How reasonable is it to invest in Bitcoin in the current situation? on: November 23, 2021, 08:05:37 PM
At the end of the year, we do not see much progress in the market.
Are you speculating here or following past events? There's no repetitive pattern and the market reacts differently in different years. If everyone knew when the market doesn't progress and when it does, everyone would make money.

The market is still in a correction mode. Meanwhile, the market has been in the same position for a few days. How reasonable do you think investing in Bitcoin now in this situation?
I would definitely invest now, when investing short term actions do not matter much, just the long term potentials.
2624  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ranking up is possible! 2900 Merits earned in less than 12 months! My 11 Hints! on: November 23, 2021, 05:14:18 PM
I did lot of quality and knowledgable postings and no one give merits for that there is some other secret behind merits.
Quality is subjective and what you consider quality may not be what someone else does, also where you make your post influences whether or not it gets merited.
Can you link about 5 of your posts you consider quality? I glanced at your post history but couldn't find any, and cannot check through all the pages.

I found some people with too much merits and some are not getting even what's required we should equalise all this stuff.

If there is activity noticed it should be merited if it qualifies certain level. I found some members have more than 500 activity and are newbies which shows something is not working appropriately.
• There is nothing to equalize, merit is not a social amenity it's a reward for good contribution and not everyone contributes equally.

• Users having more that 500 activities and no merits actually shows the system is functioning as it was meant to, rewarding quality contribution and preventing spammers from ranking up.

and can someone please explain what's good in a long detailed paragraph if all that can be explained in 2 lines?
Nothing at all. Some users draw out their posts to make them look more thought out, but if it can be expressed in 2 lines, additional lines are unnecessary.
2625  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A newbie here - can someone advise on a link where I can understand Bitcoin? on: November 23, 2021, 05:01:08 PM
As a newbie to this space, you should also be wary of wrong information, there are so many of those on the internet, especially about Bitcoin. Opening the article, the first line after the intro says; "Bitcoin is the first-ever invented digital currency.". This is not correct, rather Bitcoin is the first decentralized cryptocurrency.
Also, I could make out this line;
"Each block has its own cryptographic puzzle, and the unique solution represents 1 Bitcoin and the current state of all pending transactions.".

Always verify any information you get online, that in itself is one of the mantras of Bitcoin; do not trust, verify.
2626  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Binance is advertising in Buenos Aires on: November 23, 2021, 04:50:59 PM
Is anybody else seeing that kind of advertising in their city?
My country is very averse to Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, although there are some small scale advertisment campaigns, many companies would rather not want to publicly declare interest in cryptocurrencies.

To be honest, I'm kinda worried they might wake up to cryptocurrencies and start taxing them...
Cryptocurrency taxation is already a thing and it would be no surprise if more countries join in and start capitalizing on that revenue source.

I even thought I saw a Football Club[1] wearing Binance logo.
That should be FC Porto.
2627  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie must read this,, Tips for Choosing Legit Cryptocurrency Assets. on: November 23, 2021, 04:34:37 PM
Except you want to take advantage of the speculative value in the short term, you should not be investing in new projects, and as a newbie, you should not invest in them at all. Majority of them turn out to be shitcoins or outright scams, although, there may be a few which will actually turn out good, but in the long run, those few would not be enough to bring you a profit as you would have lost out from many others.
2628  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: !!! Bitcoin - eToro - Ledger Nano X !!! on: November 23, 2021, 05:22:33 AM
I am really new to crypto but am really interested.

I have bought a minuscule $10 amount of Bitcoin
Regardless of the fact that it's a minuscule amount, buying should not be the first thing on your mind when you develop interest. Reading more on it should. You can fully understand security and the other basics without making any financial commitment, so at the time you do so, you already have all the tools necessary to safeguard your funds.

The SEARCH us always available and while learning on any subject you can search for previous discussions on it and learn from that.
2629  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Some Tips To Stop Feeling Overwhelmed In Crypto on: November 23, 2021, 05:08:42 AM
1) Stop social media

Foremost because it makes a huge difference.

It's endless sea of garbage, you feel overwhelmed while you learn nothing worthy.
Cryptocurrency discussions can be quite difficult to follow on social media as they happen quickly and most of then are not relevant, but cryptocurrency is only a small aspect of a person and you do not have to stop it completely, you can rather customize it so, your feed o my included what you want it to.

4) 'Missing the boat'

New coins/tokens come daily, just keep trying for next one, you will eventually succeed. Make sure to learn from past failures, so chances of success increase.
Also, do not fall into the trap of discovering the next Bitcoin. You would lose a lot of money on shitcoins along the way. You could simply buy bitcoin.
2630  Economy / Reputation / Re: WARNING! Blacklist for Gambling Sites 1xbit "SCAM" !!! on: November 23, 2021, 04:59:27 AM
I didn't want to change the meaning of your statement, I just understood it that way.
I understand the situation of 1xBit and I realize that having their ad in signature, my statements seem to be biased.
However, if someone takes more time and takes a closer look at 1xBit, I think they will slowly change their mind about this casino.
Firstly stop quiting bulk messages in your replies.
Secondly, no. On closer look at 1xbit which a lot of users have done, you wonb change your mind about them being a scan, from the way they handled the complaints to their shitty attempts to try and cover it up by starting different campaigns in the hope it will wash their image.

Except of course that person taking a closer look already has a biased view.
2631  Other / Meta / Re: Encouraging existing bitcointalk users to being more users to this forum on: November 22, 2021, 08:14:10 PM
Now what do you think about this feature? Is it needed? Can it do any good to the bitcointalk forum?
No, I do not think this is necessary or will it be beneficial.
Not necessary because, the forum already has a lot of members and a lot of them who joined end up not staying for long or making a single post. Getting people to join is not an issue, getting them to stay and participate constructively is.
It would not be beneficial, cause it would simply be abused and attract more zero post brand-new accounts.

My experience in introducing people to this forum is usually met with confusion about the layout and how it works, navigating through and trouble keeping to the rules. I would rather not have to convince someone t join except they already have interest.
2632  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: How do you send seed words over the Internet/unprotected or unencrypted network? on: November 22, 2021, 08:04:41 PM
My suggestion would be to rather ask them to create a new wallet address. If you do send it through to them, I would consider it quite risky to hold funds in a wallet that has been sent over the internet, regardless if the encryption tool that was used as you're not certain who is reading those messages. The user in the other end may still have to create a new address and send it there for safekeeping

What is the appropriate method or encryption tool?
You can use PGP encryption.
2633  Other / Archival / Re: Elon musk donate people up to 50,000 ETH! on: November 22, 2021, 08:01:01 PM
So Op, you posted here about an Elon musk scam on Twitter and how appalling it is that YouTube allows such on the site, it's quite Ironic you are making another thread here about a quite similar scam attempt.

Should I sell all my gold today to participate it and double my eth? he 30 min time.
You don't have to troll to get attention here.

All I can say is stay away from that site, you can't earn or make profit x2 in just 30 minutes especially just by sending to a stranger in the net particularly on youtube where scammers lurk in in every crypto-related  videos.
Instead of staying away, users should become aware of scam techniques and how not to fall for cheap scams. The internet is filled with scams, not just YouTube.
2634  Other / Meta / Re: Forum PM Privacy on: November 22, 2021, 03:25:53 PM
I wouldn't be giving anyone access to my account, regardless if they're on DefaultTrust or not. I'd much rather give them access to one personal message, instead of all my personal messages since it's almost impossible to look at your inbox, and only see one personal message due to the way they're displayed, so your unfairly exposing other users personal messages too, and of course then it's the security of your account.
Is there any way to actually allow a user access to only one personal message? I get you can report PMs and permit a mod or the admin to look at it, if that's what you mean.

Like I said only under excruciating circumstances would this be justified. Though, I also guess it depends on the context. Whatever that personal message says, might already be deemed public knowledge or something that's not considered private. Though, even then it's probably best to reference that personal message, instead of giving out personal details.
I agree that PMs are personal and should not be divulged except when absolutely necessary. I would personally not trust a user who randomly exposes what was shared privately.
2635  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Human lost of memory on: November 22, 2021, 03:20:50 PM
what is the possibility that memory loss will be so selective? Only to the part where the private key info's are stored.
The op was not particular about selective memory loss, it's more of a generalized situation where one losses their memory and no longer have any recollection of their bitcoins, in such a situation how can the bitcoins be recovered by the family of the person?

There have already been quite some good suggestions that should work, the important things to now when leaving someone or a group of people an asset, especially one like Bitcoin which is not regulated;
• They have to be technically able to use it,
• It has to only be accessible to them (the group you're leaving it with),
• They ideally should not be able to access it while you're alive, except you trust them highly,
• You'll need to consider the longevity of the source you're keeping it on.
2636  Economy / Economics / Re: Is there any change that protect crypto from fractional reserve style stuff? on: November 21, 2021, 05:27:43 PM
Is there any change to bitcoin (or bitcoin style crypto) that would make fractional reserve banking or something else, impossible or harder to exist?
What I can think of is the volatility and the asset it is valued against. If Bitcoin is operated as an asset which is calculated simply on its value, then a fractional reserve system could work, as money loaned in Bitcoin would be payable in Bitcoin.
So if Mr A deposits 1.5BTC, and the bank keeps 0.3BTC, while lending out the remainder to Mr B, who is expected to repay the 1.2BTC as well as the interest on it. Volatility would not be a factor as the value is of itself.

As some example, would Demurrage make it harder to happen?
As a scenario, how do you imagine demurrage can affect its usability?
2637  Other / Meta / Re: Forum PM Privacy on: November 21, 2021, 06:28:40 AM
The point of posting PMs publicly is sort of a gray area, for one; they are not accessible to the public and except you allow a trusted member access to your account to view the Pm directly, no one can verify the authenticity of your claim. So, publicly posting personal messages of itself to either expose a scan or for whatever reason doesn't do much, as it's a copy and oastevorba screenshot, both which can be easily faked.

I personally would rather not expose a PM sent to me. It's personal to me and if they wanted it public they could have made it public. If however, I'm in a situation where I have to expose a PM to indemnify myself in a situation (like if I was accused of something), I'll only bring up the part relevant to that and have someone verify it.

Randomly exposing other people's messages to you is in bad taste in my opinion. And could be worthy of a tag (maybe a neutral ones) in some situations.
2638  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as Education Insurance on: November 20, 2021, 06:31:36 PM
The usefulness of this may not exactly be in Bitcoin as an insurance in education, as most if not all of the Bitcoin would be converted to fiat. It's more in the exposure and legitimacy it gives it. Despite how popular Bitcoin is alot of people still think it is a scam or do not know about it, programs like this would dispell that thought and would also encourage students to research on Bitcoin, how to store it, how to receive and send it etcetera.

I saw even before there someone used BTC as a pension plan, it is quite risky but probably these people have seen the future that could be BTC will become the most expensive digital currency in the world.
Bitcoin is a futuristic technology and should grow overtime, but no one has actually seen the future, and every one should apply risk management when holding Bitcoin for its speculative value.
2639  Other / Meta / Re: How to access/ search old/ archived Bitcointalk forum? on: November 16, 2021, 08:44:04 PM
The old Bitcoin forum was sourceforge, and it was referenced in the first post by Satoshi on this forum. The website is down now however.

I found this mailing list archive while browsing through; https://sourceforge.net/p/bitcoin/mailman/bitcoin-list/?
I have personally not used it, so I cannot if it's authentic, but it seems searchable.
2640  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie questions: Wallets, Anonymity, and BlockExplorer... on: November 16, 2021, 08:09:08 PM
Question 1: How does one USE the wallet without connecting to the Internet?
Same question: What about an eventual Hardware wallet?
This is where a watch only wallet comes in; a watch only wallet is one which you create using the master public key.
• On your airgapped device create your wallet or import it using the private keys, this is what you need for signing transactions,
• On your regular device, create a watch only wallet, it can not sign transactions, as it doesn't have the private keys, but it can generate and broadcast them, broadcasting us the part that needs internet connection.
If you want to send;
1. Generate the transaction on your watch only wallet,
2. Copy the transaction and paste it on your main wallet
3. Sign the transaction
4. Copy the signed transaction to your watch only wallet and broadcast it.

Your private keys would not be connected to the internet for this process.

I know that I Did buy some PRIX (Privatix) crypto, but cannot find it.
Did you copy down any group or words when you bought this?

And another question: I read about https://blockexplorer.com/
What is that for?
I entered several old Tx ID numbers; it showed nothing.
Block explorers are for checking the blockchain, you can use it to view a transaction or address and would show all the details attached to it.
Verify that the Tx ID you entered is correct. If the transaction is no longer valid or the chain is now down, the blockexplorer would reveal nothing.
