1621  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Some Limitations of Bitcointalk Members from Developing Countries on: September 11, 2022, 05:44:53 PM
Majority of those struggles are not limited to any part of the world and affects pkeple all over, depending on your social status, income, neighborhood etc.

And I would gladly ask members to give suggestions on how I can limit these challenges.

-   Epileptic power supply:

-   Poor Internet Supply:

-   High Crime Rate:

-   Unexposed and corrupt law enforcement agencies:

-   High Rate of Unemployment:
• Purchase phones with battery capacity as a priority and maybe try to get a portable power bank. You can also patronize some road side charging ports
• 4G phones are quite popular now, and depending on where you're from gives good network coverage.
• Take safety precautions; no late nights, be cautious of your environment always, if possible, do not go out with your devices.
• This is one of the most striking problems and is difficult to solve, considering they are the enforcers of the law and corruption at that level would negatively affect the populace.
• Get a degree. Build skills and network

You've not said why you're using bitcoin in public to attract the attention of enforcement teams, maybe you should stop using something quite so explicit around them if you can.
You do not necessarily have to use it publicly. As someone from a developing/underdeveloped nation with high rate of corruption, law enforcement agencies can request to search one (especially young males) in the guise of suspicion of fraud and demand that you unlock your phones and other gadgets with you, this is when any Bitcoin related app can be discovered and linked to fraudulent activities without any evidence whatsoever.
1622  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Twitter Criticize Apompliano for removing laser eyes on: September 10, 2022, 01:18:12 PM
Pomp, Elon Musk, anyone at all is allowed to have their opinion about Bitcoin and change that opinion for whatever reason they seem fit.
For Pomp, it could be a change market cycles, for Elon, a faux interest in saving the environment and so on and so on.
No one should build their opinion off what someone else tweets or says, just DYOR -Do Your Own Research.

The mistake of investing into cryptocurrency because of the false predictions from influencers shouldn't be overlooked. I'm sure they get depressed easily due to the person whose advise they follow ain't following the same advise he's giving out.
Anyone who can't take our the time to do their research on whatever they wish to put their money into, would one way or the other lose their money.

It even has free beer.
I've been missing out all this time
1623  Other / Meta / Re: What's minor thing that you find appreciative on Bitcointalk? on: September 09, 2022, 08:39:03 PM
I thought that you were talking about forums in general as that's what the posts you quoted were about. Unless I completely misunderstood them.
Could have been I who misunderstood that post, but it doesn't matter now as I understood what your reply was about better.

I don't think that there is any other crypto forum that is active enough for advertisers to start signature campaign. Afaik altcointalk also has signatures but I don't think that there is anyone running singnature campaign that pays in bitcoin.
Most of the newer forums are more interested in replicating bitcointalk, than actually being a place for constructive discussions, hence they start off by using incentives to get people to use their platform, attracting spammers looking for a quick buck in the process.
1624  Other / Meta / Re: What's minor thing that you find appreciative on Bitcointalk? on: September 09, 2022, 08:16:56 PM
Question still remains how come no other old&reputable forums (at least none that I am active on)  never tried with signature & avatar campaigns. One of the reasons could be how exactly to pay the people (and to remain anonymous), and bitcoin proved to be perfect for that.
I was referring to crypto forums in particular. If those forums were crypto inclined, they would have never needed to worry about how projects can pay participants anonymously, as they would understand how Bitcoin works.

I am not as frequent on different forums, so there could be some reputable crypto inclined ones which have enough traffic to monetize it somehow, but choose no to through sigs or avatars. I was speaking on my personal observation.
1625  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Can We Derive Hope From Progress And People Becoming Smarter Over Time on: September 09, 2022, 03:56:52 PM
Processing greater amounts of raw data being a necessity in a modern world. It is possible that the trend will drive human evolution in a way that forces us to use our brains more. The long term effects of which could lead to modern people being better equipped to solve problems using raw cognition in contrast to our predecessors of past eras.
A counter argument could be that, the modern world involves use of computers and devices, many of which does most of the critical thinking for us, making people need to do less and hence process less amounts of information independently.
Simple tasks like typing is now heavily promoted by text predictors, which only requires the individual to enter the first 2 or 3 letters they associate to that word and it would take it from there, this has been linked to reduced ability to recognize spellings and word structure in some.

The era of search engines also means people retain less and consult Google at the slightest inquiry, as opposed to before, when learning was more practical.

This improved technology is of course a positive as it makes learning significantly easier and automated but the ease of it all could make the newer generation lazier overtime.
1626  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: bitcoin telegram on: September 09, 2022, 03:46:38 PM
Be careful of telegram groups. Avoid personal messages, if anyone send you PM, they only want to scam you.
The user should be especially careful of this.
Honest questions like this usually attracts scammers into the inbox of the user, luring them with an offer tailored for their needs in order to scam them.

Telegram as a whole should not be used for credible information except you are knowledgeable to a reasonable extent about the Bitcoin and how things work

I hate to break it to you, but you are a spammer!
117 now, which is about 5% of OPs over 2000 posts made since they joined the forum. The OP might very well be a spammer and also has bad command of the English language and are in a campaign, which means they have to meet a weekly post quota.

Because not so many of them are low quality post why some of them that is deleted is not low quality as you people emphasizing. I will agree with you probably that some of my posts are low quality because the suggestion of people here, but me that is putting them on writing dont know that they are low quality, because I'm just making my view
Your view can be inaccurate, not understandable and misleading. Doesn't change the fact that it's yours and doesn't change the fact that it's spam to the rest of the community.
Try doing a bit more reading before replying to a thread or starting one. Also, try not to reply if you do not fully understand the discussion.
Put in some effort!
1628  Other / Meta / Re: What's minor thing that you find appreciative on Bitcointalk? on: September 07, 2022, 05:38:31 PM
I've often wondered why other discussion forums don't adopt that model, even if it's just for traffic.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say it's because other forums consider spam as a problem to be solved,
I'll go one further and say it's most likely because businesses and brands are only willing to pay for posts if the forum it's made on is a reputable one. I have been on forums which tried to recreate the signature and avatar design on the forum to build traffic, but discussions cannot be built on that, rather there needs to be an existing discussion platform, before that traffic can be monetized in any way.

Also, majority of forums out there do not actually care for preventing spam, many have even encouraged spam here; remember Yobit
1629  Other / Archival / Re: "If you don't understand where the yield is coming from, you are the yield." on: September 07, 2022, 05:20:27 PM
How is a newbie supposed to know this is all fake if they don't understand the code and how it is a exact copy of bitcoin?
Understandably, it is not always easy to detect such situations. But I would separate technical situations from common scams, such as the give 1BTC to get 2BTC back. If anyone did even a simple Google search on that common scam, they would get lots of reports on how it's a hoax.

In more technical situations, it is best to take a skeptical approach, instead of looking for what's fake, rather start with disbelief, and look for things to prove you otherwise.
If you instinctively distrust what you read or see and understand that almost everyone is trying to scam you, then it would take an extra effort to convince you otherwise.
1630  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Spreading Bitcoin and its basic concept on: September 07, 2022, 05:09:33 PM
Talking about bitcoin to those who express interest is cool, but we should not expect that everyone should get into it. It's perfectly fine for someone not to be interested in Bitcoin and they should not be compelled to change their stance, except they show interest to do so.

Also, if you are interested in growing awareness about Bitcoin, using already available content is good enough. This would help prevent passing on inaccurate information to people, or getting them to understand it the way you do.

If so many persons are involved in the Blockchain, when our government notice this, they will be left with no option than to embrace this new era, believing they might generate tax from Bitcoin.
Getting governments interested in taxations from Bitcoin is not a flex at all.
1631  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Storing Bitcoin private keys using dental implants? on: September 06, 2022, 07:24:28 PM
But we know that people would really be loving on testing out things which is really that unusual whether it would really be that a good option or a bad one and it wont really be known unless we do try.
I definitely would not be experimenting on new ways to store my assets for the mere fun of it, when there already is a reliable method I can use.

The risk of having these implants is that never ever let other people do know because if they do then you would really be putting yourself on big risk.
As I pointed out earlier; it's not something one can do on their own, so definitely someone would get to know. Trusting that person(s) to maintain the privacy of my request and procedure is not something I would risk.
1632  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Storing Bitcoin private keys using dental implants? on: September 06, 2022, 06:34:46 PM
Don't try to fix something, if it's not broken. Paper and ink have proven to be effective means of backing up private keys (seed phrase). Having multiple backups helps to act as a fail safe and should be encouraged too, but I can't see a single need to want to carry my seed phrase around in my tooth implants.

What would be the pros and cons of this one?
The biggest con is that a regular guy cannot do this by themselves and would need the help of a professional. Any aspect of safeguarding my seed phrase that would mean exposing it to someone else (who in this case would handle the engraving) is a big risk and one I would not be willing to take.

I personally cannot see any pros to this.
1633  Other / Archival / Re: "If you don't understand where the yield is coming from, you are the yield." on: September 06, 2022, 06:27:23 PM
- DYOR.
This is by far the most important advice, and could prevent 99% of scams that people fall for.
People are mostly influenced by personalities and take what presumed important people say serious; this is one reason scammers try to impersonate such personalities (by creating a fake profile or hacking their actual accounts) inorder to scam gullible people.

If one just simply exercised restrain and did a bit of research, then they would be able to identify scam techniques, or at least seem a second opinion and get some advice, rather than relying on greed.
1634  Economy / Economics / Re: Usability of cryptocurrency in Africa on: September 06, 2022, 04:20:00 PM
Cryptocurrency has impacted the African economy in a lot of positive ways such as:

* Growth of business for entrepreneurs as it is easy to transact with American, European, and Asia countries with a low transaction fee
* It has helped in creating employment through mining, blockchain development.
* Cryptocurrency has helped mitigate the effect of scarcity of banking structure. Cryptocurrency transactions can be done anywhere as long as there is an internet connection. Some see cryptocurrencies as vital protection from government repression.
Cryptocurrencies do not benefit the economy of a country. It has the potential to profit citizens, but not nearly enough to impact the overall economy of a particular country, at least not yet.

• Bitcoin does provide means of conducting international transactions easier and faster; with no border restrictions.
• Mining does not really create employment as it's a venture which requires huge capital, and not an industry that employs labour. Blockchain development is not solely built for cryptocurrencies.
• The last point is a valid one and a big quality that attracts people to Bitcoin, this however does not impact a nation's economy.
1635  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is everyone ready for Bitcoin's NEXT LEG DOWN ??? Federal Reserve Tightening on: September 06, 2022, 03:08:07 PM
It seems like all of the forum trolls are having a field day for gaslighting BTC instead of taking advantage of its 50-60% off price from the median price. Well, their loss. I already have twice the BTC I had before the bearish season.
They could very well be taking advantage of the low prices while having their field day on social media. I've many a time come across people give a different impression on social media than they practice in real life.
I actually have no issue with FUDs based on sensible arguments, but outright trolls are insufferable.

Bitcoin is always affected whatever major currency is dumping. Converting to stablecoin is really a wise decision on this looming market crash.
If major fiats dumps, Bitcoin grows against them, as they are usually traded against each other.
Also, I wouldn't advice anyone to convert to a centralized asset class.
1636  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: best way to keep cold storage wallet, but connect it to internet rarely to send. on: September 05, 2022, 09:35:24 PM
The thing here is that I need to verify that my wallet works, and I can send bitcoin out of it in a test before I put my bitcoin into it.

Could you explain how the multiple address will help me here? Thanks
If all you need to do for now is verify that your wallet works and you can send Bitcoin out of it, then the first reply you got is your first option. Extra bonus cause you can send out of it without connecting your private keys (seed phrase) to the internet.
Taking things slow helps prevent information overload and allows you focus on a task at a time.

Multiple addresses do not really matter when using your creating a address using a seed phrase, it's more of a privacy feature which you can figure all about with time.
1637  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Live Bitcoin radio broadcast with My Local Community as the presenter on: September 05, 2022, 08:45:38 PM
Nigeria with its teeming population of young and middle aged individuals has the potential to champion the blockchain revolution globally. Despite the government's unfriendliness towards digital currencies, P2P trades are still high and businesses still operate with cryptocurrencies.

Well written table of content and also good answers to the questions raised. If I'm to put in any suggestions, it would be that I do not really see any benefit in Bitcoin as a legal tender. It doesn't have to replace fiat and can function conveniently as an alternative currency.
1638  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Nigerian FG to partner Binance on: September 05, 2022, 08:34:02 PM
There is very little information about the details of the partnership and no conclusions can be drawn yet. One thing is certain at this time; the Nigerian government has not reneged on their restrictions of crypto transactions through Banks and have not displayed any friendliness towards cryptocurrencies.

The report from the NEPZA (which is the agency discussing a partnership with binance) does not indicate anything, besides a shallow worded interest in promoting a flourishing blockchain and digital economy.

This could be an attempt to whitewash the public image of the FG or a way to slip in the eNaira (CBDC), which has not been a crowd favorite, for obvious reasons
1639  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is everyone ready for Bitcoin's NEXT LEG DOWN ??? Federal Reserve Tightening on: September 05, 2022, 07:52:47 PM
Are you trying to create FUD?
The Op has hundred of such replies and a handful of FUD topics with some being outright trolling.
It's most likely an attempt to get attention from the forum and it seems to work a lot, or some people get to have fun at the expense of the troll.

Personally, I think bitcoin is the best way in the world to loose money right now, and I would not hold any.
Good luck finding the best way to gain money and actually expending energy on that.
1640  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russia shuts off Nord Stream gas pipeline indefinitely on: September 05, 2022, 06:48:54 PM
Russia has been doing good for the past few months with all these sanctions in place, and is still capable of exerting some force in their war effort against Ukraine. But it seems that the West is the one being hurt by their sanctions, as Russia turned off its pipelines and now everyone is in a hurry of finding a reliable oil supplier.
Russia has recovered a lot from when sanctions first hit and this is evident in their currency rebound, after the dip around March.
I can't pick and choose which policies are unfair and what reactions would be commensurate to the war actions, but, the high dependency on Russian oil and gas by Europe and U.S, gives Russia a huge leverage and limits how much aggression can be done against them.

The Middle East and US cannot do this task in a jiffy, they need more time to amp up their production but it will take some time.
The U.S. have to go to Saudi Arabia for relief, which would be a difficult agreement to reach considering how relations has been between both nations.
