2642  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Backing up my wallets just by using their wallet.dat files on: November 30, 2014, 09:50:02 AM
So I have a fairly good understanding of how to backup my wallet and everything and If I'm too nervous about it I suppose I could just put any coins I have onto an exchange since it's only a day like I've been planning but I just wanted to double check things on here to make sure I don't make some huge fuck up. Since I should be getting a new computer I'm going to save my wallet.dat files, put them in a folder on a seperate hard drive and I will also be exporting my Tixati configuration file and firefox profile so I don't have to go around finding everything again.

Unless I've drastically missed something that should all work fine right? After I install everything I just load up the files and everything should be back? I don't care about games and stuff because I'll just re-install them and it'll be fine and I know for certain any other work operates standalone anyway, I did experiment with a wallet.dat file on an altcoin once and it worked normally after I re-installed the wallet, I just want to double check things.
2643  Other / Politics & Society / Re: grandmaster putin's golden trap on: November 30, 2014, 08:56:54 AM
It's been discussed to death and debated and calculated, we just have to wait and see what they'll actually try to do to stop us, I find it interesting though that Putin is pretty much doing what I'm doing, except I'm dumping any pounds I get and immediately buying Bitcoin, I'll be buying up silver too when I can afford it regularly.
2644  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do You Believe The Bible To Be Historically Accurate? on: November 30, 2014, 08:08:21 AM
Maybe we can start with some common ground.

If there is a Creator (premise, that is all, don't get hung up here), who brought all the universe into being (however it was done), such a Being would be beyond us in comprehension in some areas at least, true?

Common ground? If religious people believe that homosexuals are psychologically damaged and should be 'dealt' with then that's what they believe and we aren't allowed to disagree, there is no fucking common ground with religious fascists, you insist on forcing your beliefs on other people even if they're completely made up, deluded and ignore reality. If a giant asteroid came hurtling towards earth and was about to flatten a city and kill everyone within a certain radius and you believed it wouldn't you'd force everyone to go and stand with you and wait for it to hit the spot your standing on, I cannot ever go along with that kind of arrogance.

If there's one thing me and communists can always agree on it's religious people who use the government to enforce religious beliefs are a bunch of dangerous psychopaths and if anyone disagrees with this who's religious feel free to have the balls to denounce them instead of staying suspiciously silent on the issue.
2645  Other / Meta / Re: Dank's final testimony on: November 30, 2014, 07:45:57 AM
Dank does tend to spam a lot of incoherent shit, lets not be surprised this happened, to be honest, I think I'm more surprised he didn't get banned sooner given how many newbies and the like get banned for less spam than what he posted.
2646  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Ponzi: Treasury Issues $1T in New Debt in 8 Weeks—To Pay Old Debt on: November 30, 2014, 07:04:42 AM
It's because gold as well as silver is not only seen as a safe haven from inflation it was what was used as a currency before the federal reserve came along, so what that means is that if the price goes up then that's usually an indicator of how much currency the central banks are printing, like with Zimbabwe where you have billion dollar notes and stuff this is why I'm predicting if Bitcoin hits $10000 like some people think it's going to be due to hyperinflation rather than the currency being extremely valuable.

If you also compare the prices between Bitcoin and Gold directly, you'll see that actually it looks incredibly stable, it's only the dollar price that's rising massively, hell, even though the pound and euro is going to be severely messed with soon they're still doing better right now but obviously that will change soon as they all start panicking.
2647  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Ponzi: Treasury Issues $1T in New Debt in 8 Weeks—To Pay Old Debt on: November 30, 2014, 06:47:14 AM
Holy shit! Is this real and recent? We are so fucked! Good think I've been preparing for this kind of move! Next year guys we're going to have a crash, count on it!

The crash has already started.  Look at the price of oil.

The price of oil is reflective of the Saudis trying to crush the shale producers in the US since it's more expensive to produce. They've let the price fall to the point where shale production cost is higher than the price of oil. When they've done their damage, the price will recover, like it always does.

To be honest, that's true, oil isn't really an indicator of hyperinflation, now gold on the other hand I have been keeping an eye on that's crawling it's way up to the $1200 mark and I vaguely remember it being at these levels before the crash, we just need it to hit $2000 and then It will be there.
2648  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is your favorite Satoshi quote? on: November 30, 2014, 06:40:45 AM

lmao I quite like that one, but it's also very true about the recurring bill thing, anyone who's dealing in Bitcoin now has to politely send an invoice to you that you need to pay rather than just steal the money directly from your bank account, great news for MMORPG players and the like as well as porn downloaders Tongue

I'm certain that the crash will only come once the Repubs take over.  That'll be a story.

That's something I've been predicting as well, it's a tactic used by establishment parties to make opposition look bad, get in power, spend the crap out of the budget, print lots of money and then let it all crash when the new government gets formed, the sad thing is it's probably going to work and everyone will blame the opposition for this instead of realising both of them have been royally fucking with the currency supply.

The crash has already started.  Look at the price of oil.

I was too busy looking at the massively inflating S&P, Nikkei, DOW and NASDAQ myself Tongue

24 and why does that matter?

Edit: Fyi, I'm pretty sure I said education is a scam, not just secondary schools

Just curious. Why is it a scam, and do you honestly consider yourself better off not pursuing any sort of education?

I'm taking private tuition, not only is it cheaper but I'm also getting a much better education out of it, how the hell else do you think I learned to set gemstones? Youtube tutorials? lol Tongue Basically as I learned from one horrid experience after another teachers make all sorts of wild claims about what you can achieve and what kind of jobs you can get within education and then of course you discover once you're done all the things they taught you were completely useless in the real world unless it was some kind of very specialised degree you were taking, doctor or lawyer would work obviously, but that takes grades most people don't have.

If that isn't enough evidence to stack up on my side of the argument, a lot of my friends are coming back home now and don't know what to do with themselves because everything I've predicted has come true, the university loan system is also ready to collapse in my country, so yes, considering I'm learning how to produce stuff and sell it, I am better off, hell, even if I don't get going very much I suppose I could always get a job doing welding or start building stuff from that open source ecology website with what I've learned if worse comes to worse Tongue I'd just have to get used to the idea of measuring in centimetres and metres rather than millimetres.

In short though, the best decision I ever made was deliberately going out of my way to find teachers who wouldn't bullshit me and so far, it's paying off a lot, you aren't going to find them in schools and universities that rely on their students being ignorant.

Oh and if this isn't enough, John Oliver agrees with me - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8pjd1QEA0c

I used to have a Pentium 166MMX, and buy a new computer every 2 years. Back then everything was developing so fast that you couldn't play new games on an older system and the components were much more expensive. Now you can have the same computer for 5 years and still be able to play, so I don't think they are spoiled now.

Yeah, it's actually true that and I was only messing around with the spoiled thing Cheesy I remember roughly how much we paid for my computer 5 years ago and it's worked out about the same here too so I've gotten a hell of a lot out of it, point is, don't be stupid and immediately just buy the next new graphics card assuming it will make a massive difference, because it won't.

I thought I'd let you know guys, I actually found a Bitcoin group that was already set up on Etsy, it's got over 500 members, I've of course joined it to say hello, apparently they didn't know about Bitcointalk!

You do realise I'm learning how to cast silver and set gemstones right? Also making some drastic improvements on my artwork which I will be posting up when I'm happy with them and then I've also got a 2D platformer that's nearly ready for some alpha testing that I want to put out thanks to the blender game engine Tongue

Part of the reason I post so much and game a lot is because I have to actually sit down and think about my work a lot before I can do any of it >_< left brain thinkers wouldn't understand that Tongue so unless you have a working knowledge of anatomy and understand how vertex groups work get off my case!

Dude's a hero account and claims he doesn't have money for a $100 SSD, dude sell your Bitcoins!   Cheapskate probably has several $million on his hard drive.

You don't become a hero member by being productive with your time Wink

Given I have a business thread on here I resent that, but yes, I have no life Sad

So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the institutional and retail markets have yielded to Bitcoin and accepted it as a viable commodity.

Fuck you too Wall Street.

omfg I feel for you, I can only run Battlefield 3 and games like CSS properly right now, don't ever bother with eco components, they're shit, they're basically just regular components that have been made less efficient through software and stuff to make them consume less electricity, yeah get a gaming PC, you won't regret it, I know I'll be fapping to all the games that I haven't had a chance to properly play yet on Monday because of my processor.
