No problem to lose on your favourite team, can't always be winning by betting on your team right?

I say this with a lot of irony of course, Liverpool's been kind to me in my betting years, so the past season or so has been hard to take, but as long as the City and Real and Bayern losses keep happening, I can still strangely end up my season in profit.

Value pick of the day is Real, over 22/10 is excellent doubler opportunity. Only watched them over a week ago and while they needed a penalty to get ahead in last 10 mins, they were still a way better team with no panic setting in. Villareal, though? Can't trust them.
2702  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to get a hardware wallet in a bitcoin banned country? on: January 07, 2023, 10:02:15 AM
I don't believe there's been a single country where the customs has prohibited entry of hardware wallets just because the country's banned Bitcoin. I even am aware of Pakistanis (trading banned, but not owning) who get Ledgers by the dozen.

You can always customize the wallets too, or buy a brand that isn't Ledger/Trezor.

In fact, I'm willing to bet you can buy any brand shipped to yourself, and get it. A literal bet. Quote me if you want to take that bet (we'll figure out how to do it, but I'll cover your losses if it happens, in Bitcoin).

You know it's bad when you get the usual picks right (Mitrovic, Rashford) and still can't even get consolations on MajSev. Going to put me head back on this weekend and get done a heck load of things including next MS.

You wish, those 2 own goals were all Faes. First one was quite impossible with the arc the ball has gotten after he tried to clear it. For second one, Nunez hit the post and Faes made sure it finishes in the goal. Both were really bad reactions and easy to clear. Look them up on YouTube, will be worth your time. Promise  Smiley

Ah, what a memory, seems so long ago. Yeah, there are own goals, and these are Faes specials in a class of their own. They were singing about Carragher but Carra's own goals were usually unavoidable, just unlucky. Faes might have been slightly unlucky with one but in both situations, very clearable, he just got his techniques absolutely wrong.
2704  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io Betting discussion thread rev on: January 06, 2023, 09:07:14 PM
So now they face each other in the FA Cup in 2 days:
And this is where City has the biggest advantage, their super long bench. Nobody has that much qoulity just waiting to get subbed on. Those substitution in the last game were very telling. Here are the players that came on for Chelsea: Auba, Chukwuemeka, Hutchinson, Hall and Galagher.
And then you have this for City: Akanji, Lewis, Mahrez, Grealish and Philps while Alvarez still sits on the bench as unused sub.

Ouf yeah. I made the Chelsea bet on both games long before all those injuries so now the odds are 95/10 and I only got 68/10. It usually pays to be early with underdogs but as soon as you got injuries against Citeh, you're more or less finished.

Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs... they do have some quality but not all across the field. Anyone who can't see the gulf when you're putting on pimple-faced youngsters or Milner and Auba as subs... well.

2707  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Libertarians -- where are they now? on: January 06, 2023, 07:58:30 PM
Nice reads, can't say for sure as may never get the chance to read them, nor such an interest in that particular brand/ideology. I have a more "indigenous" leaning of liberty (where there is no concept of ownership even, at odds with Bitcoin or even money), but that's more from my birth and circumstance, and being a realist I know I can only become familiar with those ideas, not intimate, despite my origins.

They're all around, and while they might have been vibrant in the cypherpunk newsgroups, I wouldn't count on finding them here on this forum.
2708  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: January 05, 2023, 10:18:56 PM
Of all people getting a name change, well, well done. Should really make a campaign for myself to try a bit harder, though I suppose the name now sticks even for me.

Chelski put up a defence, I see... Did they even try to win?
2709  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin - what price would you sell? on: January 05, 2023, 06:57:09 PM
Said it at least a couple of times on this forum, and do not mind repeating as it has been some years, but that I personally had a price target, and a time target.

Not because I wanted to, but because I had to make it predictable for those who would inherit my coins in the possibility I do not make it into the next decade.

Then they definitely will ask this question, and to do away with the requirement that they also inherit my Bitcoin beliefs, I set a price and date target. Whichever hits first, they sell.
2710  Economy / Speculation / Re: Who thinks DCG / Genesis / Grayscale / Barry are bad actors? on: January 05, 2023, 03:32:50 PM
Hate to say it but you cannot really be a good actor if you're a corporate that prioritises profit -- especially in an largely unregulated space where there really is no need to be ethical or even honest.

Not saying any of those guys named are bad actors. Just find it really hard to call a corporate a good actor. Neutral, sure, even positive.
2711  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Argentina's Leading Presidential Candidate Preaches Bitcoin on: January 05, 2023, 02:32:10 PM
Argentinians have long been looking for a solution. Long before whatever president in power decided. Those in power have led their country down a dark economic path in the last decade... No different from many LatAm leaders, to be sure, but they do not get to be heroes for embracing Bitcoin when they are responsible for the hyperinflation blitzing their people.

Grassrooters like La Bitcoineta has been fighting the good fight for years. Don't need another president hopeful to do nothing.
2712  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Sportsbet.io ⚽ Italian Serie A ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread 2022/2023 on: January 05, 2023, 01:48:47 PM
Just checking resulta, no watching for me until next week... Atalanta just cannot save themselves, can they?

Pretty sure I made all my picks already some time back, BTTS heaven as usual hm?
I will help you out then with a bit of graphic commentary. Juve back to their old antics, playing like shit, getting their woodwork hit a couple of times and then free kick in 90+ minutes. And of course they score it trough the wall and from woodwork. And just to mention in addition to hitting posts their opponents also had 2 goals disallowed.

Juve back to what they were doing best in the past. Don't think I am salty cause of the result, I actually had Juve for win in the pool and placed a bet live on them since I had a feeling how it will finish  Grin

Haha thanks man, always appreciate reading through posts like this when I don't have TV. I honestly thought Napoli win was great value too, when I saw the odds favouring Inter, but I guess the bookies knew better and I had no idea of lineups when I placed the bets last week.

Agree this league's become so much fun, and dare I say, Juve's fall started with Ronaldo?
2713  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: January 05, 2023, 12:10:37 PM
Whoa hey I just saw my Superbru give me a wall of red -- don't remember the last time I got everything wrong, though of course, in 53rd position, I was just trying to get a round of upsets to get a leg up. Climb to 30th and then maybe change my strategy again.

Trofo doing pretty well at the moment, you going for a draw tonight? @cryptofrka 55/10 Chelsea win too good for me to ignore.
2714  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 25th Seed Phrase on: January 05, 2023, 09:28:07 AM
even a latest hardware wallet. a hacker can simply set up a phished/emulating GUI display to show "error with device. to reset device please re enter your seed" or whatever their error pages look like to get people to type it in.
Are there any hardware wallets that actually ask you to do something like that in any circumstances? If yes, then that's a very dangerous thing to have. So far I've been using only Ledger and the only way to enter seed phrase was directly using the device and not via Ledger Live app so if any message like that pop up, Ledger users should know that it is a fake. Not that it would stop some people entering seed anyway.

Yeah if I saw a message like that pop up on any damned device, I'd know I was hacked and immediately wash off.

Problem is, and I'm sure I'm not exaggerating, most people, not some, would enter their seed phrase if they saw a message requesting it.

Now that actually reminds me that I've rarely seen warning messages about never ever responding to seed phrase requests...
2715  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The mistake I made some years ago on: January 05, 2023, 09:04:04 AM
Right, an actual pyramid scheme actually sold actual bitcoin? That's definitely the first time I've heard of it. Pretty sure you're referring to one of those Bitcoin doublers or HYIP thingies (I know it's pedantic but it does make a difference).

I didn't lose the Bitcoins that I bought thru a pyramid scheme, but I lost the Satoshis that I got from faucets in a cloud mining website that turned out to be a scam.

You never lost it if you never withdrew them to your own wallet, which at least OP did Wink

To be fair, I've used "cloud mining" sites that actually paid out, but they were paying out cents for a lot of work on your end. Wouldn't call them scams, just a big waste of time.

2716  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: January 04, 2023, 09:03:48 PM
@toke what are you following these days if not football? What the hell could be better than football??
I noticed the change when the covid lock downs started some time in 2020.  There was nothing on except the UFC.  So I got way deeper into it than I already did.

Didn't even realise that was still on. I sort of remember the onset and being a lot more occupied with work and family at the time -- even if football had been around, I'd have been too tied up to really focus. It wasn't even really tough for me in particular, but definitely some crazy time for the family back home.

Your post reminded me.

I have to say I didn't have your same regard for Eddie Howe, one has to see how long he can take that effect into his teams -- he is a bit like Klopp in that regard, can't seem to maintain success with the same personnel after some years.

My respect was for Potter but even then I think Chelsea was a step too high up.

2718  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Microstrategy owner (michael saylor) holds huge amount in bitcoin on: January 04, 2023, 04:00:22 PM
So you trust a guy and then ask what research he did?

Are you also going to accept all the information we will post here with the same full trust?

What is stopping you from following the lead of any number of influencers investing in any number of assets?

Bitcoin is a lot about self teaching and self discovery. If you aren't willing, I would say it is not for you.
2719  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is hodling top 10 Marketcap coins a good tactic? on: January 04, 2023, 02:53:08 PM
I remember seeing an article about some dude who put $5 in every single coin listed on Binance. It was some years ago & I can’t find the article now but he made a lot of money after being patient for a few years.

As it was a while ago I don’t know if this would be a good idea now as there are a lot more shitcoins than there once were.

I sort of tried something like this years ago. Much smaller sample, though, as I probably just bought about 20/30 coins. All sizable trading volume back then.

They almost all made a lot of money in 2017 but I kept the experiment going and they are almost all dead or close to death.

In the end, Bitcoin and somewhat Ethereum worked out best.

Timebound strategy, this I guess.
2720  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🦊 Betnomi.com | FPL Football Pool ⚽ Discussion Thread on: January 03, 2023, 06:36:38 PM
And I proved to myself I am at the most disorganised stage of my adult life. Not only forgot to do my FPL brought the wrong device to travel...

Damn! That hurts, lol.
As I write this, Darwin and Salah have already dropped a catastrophe.  Grin

Yeah, actually don't think either of them were in my squad anyway but I really needed to purge a couple of long-term injuries. Not unhappy at all, kind of really need my own recharge in real life, so happy to assess the damage in my FPL when I can sit down this weekend.

Maybe this time I actually get Nunez in, am sure his price will have dropped by now?
