Just pointing out that long-term investors don't really need trading indicators -- unless you're looking at significant and cyclical buying... in which case the first 75% drop post-ATH or the one post-halving are pretty much the "perfect" top-up periods.

DCA takes care of that stress of watching though Wink
That is what exactly I do, I do 50% unfortunately and that was a wrong move on my behalf, loaded up around 30-35k range myself and got some more at 22-24k range as well, so I am not doing amazing for the recent ones but I got some from 2018 so it is doing not bad at all and I am fine about it.

Nah, 50% from ATH isn't a wrong move at all (think of those who bought at 10k after the 2017 ATH, they're all still very much in the black at today's prices, no? So maybe you're in the red now, but wait for the next cycle -- that's kind of the whole point of DCA, giving us time to recharge and accumulate, and to be okay in the very long term.
2722  Other / Archival / Re: Long-term Bitcoin accumulation continues on: January 03, 2023, 03:49:08 PM
2022 was one of the worst years for Bitcoin.
I feel like it's not really a big huge deal for cyrpto considering how many bad years we had followed by great years eventually. Sure 2022 was a terrible year and we have lost more marketcap this year than most marketcaps total in previous years.

I don't mean to dismiss what a bad year 2022's been but I still feel like 2018/19 were really bad years that this year still hasn't quite matched up to. Those years, we didn't really have much in terms of Bitcoin internal issues (2017 was the threat with the network split, in my memory). FTX and Terra etc... these were big events but we still maintained a low just below 2016.

Hmm... hack on a dev I would probably have named among the last to ever get hacked. Need to read up on that when I'm back from break.

Not the best way to greet the new year but I suppose this is the way Bitcoin usually is a year after ATH, just down in the dumps.

Definitely time to recharge and continue the story of stronger fundamentals!

New Australian Open specials are up, you need to opt in!

https://sportsbet.io/promotions/2023-01-australian-open-promo

Only Nadal has the outright promo, so I'm wasn't sure about taking it, but hell, I'm sure he wins at least a couple of games, so that's $20 coming in freebets already!

The in-play offer's what's interesting, but I probably won't be able to make any bets this week (no min odds, $125 bet and you get $25 freechip). Value!

Holy heck, iirc your favourite team is Liverpool isnt it. I wouldnt ever go or bet on Manchester United to get a draw or lose lol, like I'd rather skip the betting part and just enjoy the game lol. I mean its just feels weird alongside of the game when I bet on my favourite team to take a draw while I honestly want them to get full 3 points

Haha yup. Today I get to just bet and only find out the result late, late tonight. Probably good to have some days like these as watching Liverpool in the last couple of games have not been good at all for the heart.
2725  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: January 02, 2023, 01:32:21 PM
@cryptofrka yeah the way we play, if I didn't have feelings for Liverpool I'd be very excited about Brentford.

But because of my bias, I feel I got pretty decent odds on Liverpool if I say so myself at about 16/10. Actually can still get it 17/10 at Sportsbet with boost but there is a pretty good tip for Liverpool and almost any favourite in EPL this season: wait for them to concede first.

Toney probably not as badly injured as he appeared but our away form is horrible, hence the odds. But Numez could have had a hattrick in the last three... Maybe floodgates finally open?

In fact, handicaps for the team conceding first seems the way to go. Trofo's BTTS also solid but I would only use it on Betbuilder.

What on earth, I actually won GW10?? Haha nice one. I am away all week but will PM you anyway what I believe is my Betnomi username.

And I proved to myself I am at the most disorganised stage of my adult life. Not only forgot to do my FPL brought the wrong device to travel...

2728  Other / Off-topic / Re: Get to know the Child Phase before teaching Bitcoin and Financial Management. on: January 02, 2023, 08:30:32 AM
You're a parent who only started disciplining your child at 7?

That must have been a hard time, imagine the shock of a fully conversant child (7 these days seem way more socially capable than 7 in the 1980s when I was that age).

I actually have had experience giving Bitcoin and teaching them how to protect it both below 15 and above 15 (siblings). Guess which one lost their wallet when I checked back? It's less about age and more about maturity (and a bit of luck and personality).

When you understand who's more likely to know how to store something like that, and who will always need a bank to remember passwords for them, you then also know how to help guide them to the appropriate apps.
2729  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price, January. $20000 or above possible? on: January 02, 2023, 07:25:05 AM
Definitely expecting quite a few more months below 20k, like jackg and adaseb already say, minimum first quarter of the year, and then only after halving will we see enough strength to make serious moves -- but even then probably not before maximum floor price (manipulation induced).

I insist that macro economics are still very much in play and Bitcoin still hasn't got used to these precise conditions of a global recession that hasn't hit rock bottom.
2730  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: January 01, 2023, 08:03:49 PM
Yeah. That will teach me to put on my faith in them. Thought I was smart to skip them last gameweek, saved the draw disappointment but tonight serves me right.

Worse, couldn't even give you BTTS huh Trofo. And old boy Aurier actually leveled for Nottingham Forest. How the world goes round.

@toke what are you following these days if not football? What the hell could be better than football??
2731  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io Betting discussion thread rev on: January 01, 2023, 05:12:59 PM
New Year will be nice if Arsenal win, and then Liverpool get their next one too as I had a really long acca with just those 2 games left.

Oh wow, Arsenal won so thats left with only Liverpool on your acca. Liverpool could easily win against Brentford and fantasy indicated that Toney Ivan, their current top scorer has 50% of not playing against Liverpool so it should be fairly easy for Liverpool to secure 3 points.

Actually, my bad. I was pretty damned sure I made a 5-leg acca ending with tomorrow's Liverpool tie with Brentford but my mind remember differently from the actual bet placed. This was the last of my surviving freebets given out by Sportsbet during the World Cup.

I actually fear teams like Brentford more than teams like City, honestly. We have an easier time fighting conventional 4-4-2 and 4-4-3 and have always faced problems with teams who play like Bees: quick long pass counter from the back and aerial domination.

Enjoy drinks boltz! I got a Monaco outright so will hope for miracles heh...

City definitely shored up their leaks with Haaland but it's not enough (sort of remindful of United barely making it past the line with Ronaldo).
Haaland is currently by far the best goalscorer in Premier League but they have other players who can score like Foden, De Bruyne and few others.
Man City scored most goals in from all other teams in Premier League, so I don't think scoring goals is big problem for them.
Challenging for them is next two matches coming in few days when they play against Chelsea in Premier League and FA Cup.

Can score is not the same as will score, though! Liverpool's probably got the same, each season we do see a lot of goals shared by players, and that does work in City's favour in the league, but not in knockout competitions like UCL.

Hope Chelski makes it interesting, my money's on them anyway heh.
2733  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: EFL English Championship League 2022/2023 on: January 01, 2023, 03:24:53 PM
Ah well, notblox1, it was not to be. Didn't even get my Canaries pick right, so will take a wee break and sit back a bit before I tag on more Championship games.

The seeming coinflip nature of the matches only cements my belief that the only way to bet on this league is to consistently pick 2/1 and above odds.
2734  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin 50% Down Move Incoming? on: January 01, 2023, 01:48:24 PM
Don't give yourself so much importance, all those who have never invested a single cent in that exchange are intelligent people - all the others do not fall into that category, including you. You didn't consider him the most intelligent person? Then someone else got hold of your account and wrote the following:

Ouch, bbc. Heh.

So I don't think someone bought your account or posted on your behalf but when you make a habit of commentary on the news, you end up making contradictory statements every now and then. Think even I find myself guilty of that.

Perhaps time to leave them corporate personalities to themselves and not give them so much exposure? Particularly if you think they aren't intelligent...
2735  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My First Bitcoin on the New Year Day 2023. on: January 01, 2023, 01:10:53 PM
Well done and welcome! Take the advice of people to take that BTC out of Binance, and I urge you to find other means of getting your stash of satoshi (Bisq or even Localbitcoins is safer I would say). Then over time you build your own trusted network of P2P sellers so you can get your DCA serious.

Great time to start!
2736  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Sportsbet.io ⚽ Spanish La Liga ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread 2022/2023 on: January 01, 2023, 12:16:31 PM
Nice yellow caps, agreed. Not a bad return for 1 matchweek, problem for me was to not foresee the draws. Now we get a Copa event, wondering how Real will approach that. Looks the easiest opponent on paper.

About Lahoz, yup, can blame the ref all you want (I don't disagree he's crap in management) but Barca's fault for not winning earlier. Real almost had a similar situation but they had Benzema to knock in the pen in the end and cap off a great move from Camavinga, so moot point. That league really does need a proper review of refereeing though!

What do you guys think about Villa? Was my initial team to support for nostalgic reasons (and they weren't bad at all in earlier games) but after Gerrard got axed, they smacked Brentford and United, got smacked by Ncastle and United (in EFL).

New manager magic's gotta be wearing off, are we going to keep seeing see-saw Villa or Mr Hyde?

Asking cause already got money on Spurs on a long acca, not sure to hedge with Villa.

Wait, come on, someone must have come out on top, no? Every damn Cointelegraph/Coindesk/CoinABC news article about predictions has some "influencer" or "well followed" trader coming out with all kinds of shorts.

I want to see a list of people who started with $1000 in March and is smelling a million in December. OP, make me happy.

Am I the only one who believes that it is more likely that those traders who actually know what they are doing and earn a good money out of it just stay silent and out the public spot, so they can continue to do what they are doing quietly?

Perhaps it is just me, but if I was blessed with good trading skills I would not try to catch people's attention the way some "influencers" do. I would just close my mouth and make more money.  Tongue

I believe there is no such thing as a good trader who only earns money consistently from making good calls or at least, it's indeed a tiny, silent minority.

I think the truth is, most traders who make that a living over the years make more profit from selling signals, selling education, or making commissions off those who sign up and/or trader under them, or make commissions trading on behalf of clients.

That's why they need the exposure, the followers, the hype.
2739  Economy / Speculation / Re: Michael Saylor and Bitcoin or Michael Saylor and altcoin? on: January 01, 2023, 09:20:15 AM
What was the purpose of Micro Strategy doing that though?

I'm pretty sure it was to retain value over the long term, since I remember the comparisons (or the previous currency) was US dollar, which has hit decades-high inflation. 7% appreciation in USD price of Bitxoin feels to me just about equalises the inflation of the dollar.

Intent achieved.
