2781  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019 - 11- 25] The 4 Possible Bitcoin Scenarios In The Long Run on: November 25, 2019, 07:52:13 PM
There are many people who are asking themselves: Is Bitcoin really needed on their lives at least in the aspect of finance, money and banking? We have to accept that the impetus of the creation and existence of Bitcoin years ago have already faded today and many people do not care anymore about how the government and traditional financial institutions can be intruding into their lives for as long as these people get what they want in the process. In other words, we are now slowly losing the vision for Bitcoin and when only a handful of people are really sticking to the core beliefs and philosophy of Bitcoin then we can have a big problem and right now the symptoms of these problems have already started to surface. Let's just hope that eventually Bitcoin will be as it should be.

I think the opposite myself. When I recall what banking was like only ten years ago it was a lot more logical and a lot less offensive and Orwellian than it is now.

You actually got interest on your savings. Cash was king. There was much less of this AML reporting and zero talk of restricting cash transactions above certain amounts. It's only going one way.

Cashlessness and the spectre of a governmentcoin will be a wake up call to enough people to make them question what's going on. BTC will be waiting for them.
2782  Economy / Speculation / Re: Disturbing on: November 25, 2019, 07:46:48 PM
China has as much influence in crypto right now as Nepal.

What is has, it has a bunch of panicking morons who at every piece of garbage half-line coming of China are screaming like some mad geese and simply won't shut up no matter how many arguments are hammered on their heads.
China means zero, there are no more exchanges there, there are no shops, no ATMs, no real usage, there is only mining and that also slowly dings down. So, for god's sake stop this madness.

And furthermore, how can you even claim they have a big influence when they've already banned it?
Use logic, it's like some hardcore vegans stopped buying honey-baked ribs and now the entire pig industry is in bankruptcy!

There will still be plenty of Chinese folks who hold a lot of coinage and of course miners will be having plenty of new ones arriving as well.

Even though the whole scene is supposedly nullified there there's got to be some seepage into other markets. The big players won't walk away that easily.
2783  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why would one pay $7K for Bitcoin if he can get the same thing for $0.001? on: November 25, 2019, 07:36:54 PM
Bitcoin is the oldest, most secure, most tested, best developed, best distributed, most decentralised and most trusted.

A 1 cent alt is none of these things. It's a bit of code cut and pasted in a few seconds. You can't know how secure it is, whether the miner (s) will roll back your transaction or whether what's in your wallet will even be movable in a few weeks. There are plenty of dead coins.

The thing that gives Bitcoin its value is confidence and trust. That takes years to build. You can't buy it. You can't fake it. It can only be earned.

Forget transaction times and so on. That's nothing but tinsel. If not enough people trust it it's going nowhere.
2784  Economy / Economics / Re: You want to get rich, don’t pay taxes, don’t get married, don’t use bank, and... on: November 25, 2019, 06:18:11 PM
I know that all too well. Girls who read cosmopolitan and other stupid magazines come up with these stupid ideas that you judge a man's dedication by how much he's willing to spend on you and to always choose a man wealthier than you.

The weird thing is she didn't seem very acquisitive beyond that but was fixated on that particular figure.

The thing that a lot of people haven't yet figured out is that in many cases they're not assets any more, they're liabilities. Back in the day you purchased a wifey to make little workers for the fields. Wifey put up with your monstrous behaviour because she needed to eat and shit somewhere and was basically helpless if you turned on her.

That's all gone now and I'm not totally sure what's going to replace it.

I can't be bothered with relationships any more. When I was it felt like I was being drained, not enriched.
If I read your story about a husband/wife relationship, it looks like you are having trouble making love, maybe you are disappointed or there is something that makes you think so.
@genslemand, not all human life is the same, as you feel now.
There are still many faithful who really expect the sincerity of love in someone's heart, not solely because of money or wealth.
We can't accuse all people of being bad in having a relationship.

The essence of one marriage bond, to accept one another's strengths and weaknesses, cover up their weaknesses and strengths, look after each other, always communicate well, whether it's a big or small problem in the household, also about Bitcoin investment, because the money used to invest in bitcoin is also a joint money bond.

I'm sure @ gentlemand, definitely find one thing that is good and happy when married, there must be someone who is loyal and sincere.

Sorry, out of conversation, I'm sure @ genslemand is a very kind and loyal person.

Am touched by your attention but I don't feel that way for fun. It's based on many years of horrifying and tortuously obtained empirical evidence. Shunning all that shit has not made me happier. It has made me several orders of magnitude less unhappy.
2785  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 25, 2019, 12:42:18 PM
This is also possible. Hope for the best (planning to hold most of my coins for a long time), but prepare for the worst (thinking about trading for quicker gains).

I don't think there'll ever be the same expansion in infrastructure meeting the same reduction in production again. It could well be a golden one off.
2786  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 25, 2019, 12:02:41 PM
This is the scenario I fear. It may be possible that the halvening is priced in already and, although prices below 3k are unlikely, there will be no new ATH until the next halvening (one in 2024). Five years of ice age, pain and false hopes. Personally I do not plan to sell my main stash, but I am thinking about trading (that is, about buying a bit lower and selling a bit higher, not accumulating), because holding may be a very long-term game.

I'm leaning the other way. I think this halving will have the biggest effect. After this one it'll be subtler and start to tail off.

There are more on and off ramps than ever and some of them like Bakkt and the Cash app alone have the potential to be several times bigger than the entirety of what went before. Chuck in inflation dropping to levels seen in conventional currencies and just over only 10% of all coins left to arrive in the next 120 years and that's a pretty darned potent combo.
2787  Economy / Economics / Re: You want to get rich, don’t pay taxes, don’t get married, don’t use bank, and... on: November 25, 2019, 01:40:54 AM
Marriage isn't that bad if you share goals. When you're alone you work for yourself and need 2x the time to get money for a house or a car.

In marriage you will have to share these things but you get them twice as fast. Some things like houses are meant to be shared. I don't need to drive a car all day. I just need it for an hour a day maybe so I can share it and getting it faster sure helps.

Depends on how rich your beloved is. Quite often there's a vast disparity in the money they're bringing in and they may also be shit with your money.

A geezer I knew's fiance told him her ring had to cost him three months of his salary. I would've told her to kiss my fucking arse. Funnily enough it went tits up and in the decade since she's done everything within her power to destroy him.
2788  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: new bitcoin segwit wallet for android with sweep on: November 24, 2019, 08:19:59 PM
Also, why don't give it a chance to prove itself to people right? maybe it can also be beneficial to them let's just wait and see if it's good like other trusted wallet.

There's a whole world out there that might be dim enough to take a chance. That's on them. I'll sit back and let others take pointless and heightened risks. There is absolutely no need for oneself to do it.
2789  Economy / Economics / Re: Cryptocurrency investments in Airbnb and other large companies on: November 24, 2019, 08:08:53 PM
Everything stock related is tightly regulated, so it wouldn't be easy to open a new stock exchange that accepts crypto, or even just offer provide broker services for crypto. Just like the SEC is still suspicious of crypto, all other regulators also view it as too risky to allow it. And maybe there's actually not a lot of demand for it, as people generally threat crypto as an investment rather than money.

If you can buy a razor wire dildo with BTC there's no reason why you can't buy a stock. No broker that wanted a quiet life would get the two tangled up. Straightforward buying would attract plenty of custom.
2790  Economy / Economics / Re: Cryptocurrency investments in Airbnb and other large companies on: November 24, 2019, 01:04:28 PM
I'm surprised there's been no option to buy shares with crypto. And that's conventional buying, not some kinky wee kludge. Enough gold places do it. You'd think at least one stock type place would take the plunge.

As for this, you either invest in crypto or invest elsewhere. I don't really see how the two can be combined if your endgame is to increase your crypto. You're going to be tied to dollar movements.
2791  Economy / Economics / Re: You want to get rich, don’t pay taxes, don’t get married, don’t use bank, and... on: November 24, 2019, 12:02:18 PM
It's because he didn't sign a pre-nup, if you sign one that clearly outlines each others financial situations, and things end up going sideways, you should be fine.

Pre nuptials are not legally binding where I'm at. Courts can recognise them but they're free to overrule them.

Married, in this life it is necessary and important, to control your money spent and give encouragement and encouragement from your wife.
Conversely if you are not married you become poor with your uncontrolled wastefulness.

Balls. I've never been married. I never will be married. I've seen what happens when people turn on each other. Before that happens you'll have wasted untold amounts of productivity, energy and money and after it happens you waste even more and it's all for nothing.

I can't be bothered with relationships any more. When I was it felt like I was being drained, not enriched.
2792  Economy / Speculation / Re: Disturbing on: November 23, 2019, 10:22:33 PM
the first thing that pops into my head when i see that is tether, given their huge push into the chinese market over the past year:

That move on their part blew my pea-sized mind. It's as if they were actively looking to get 15 bulging inches up them all the way to the hilt.

I never bothered to look into the details of it or how used it is. The whole idea seemed bonkers from the off.
2793  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: new bitcoin segwit wallet for android with sweep on: November 23, 2019, 03:23:59 PM
I'll let it run for 2-3 years and then see whether it's any cop. I'm consistently amazed at the willingness of people to run towards new and unproven services when totally solid ones have been around for years.
2794  Other / Meta / Re: The Bitcoin Forum is 10 years old! on: November 22, 2019, 07:45:01 PM
Many happy returns. I wonder what the next ten years will look like. Bonkers to think how far it's come. Our knockers will no doubt be blown clean off and hopefully I'll still be chugging to see it.
2795  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: [NOV 2019] Fees are low, use this opportunity to Consolidate your small inputs! on: November 22, 2019, 07:13:21 PM
I just checked the API and it's more accurate than i expected (compared with their website which tends to give overly high fee recommendation)
It's not as good as recommendation from other website or reading the chart manually though.

1 sat/byte purely depends on how many pending transaction and how many user who're not in hurry

I was under the impression that that site was crappy but maybe it's improved. I use bitcoinfees.net these days. I can't be bothered to figure out the jochen-hoenicke site. It might be a piece of piss with a few minutes of study but my mind is ossifying and I need spoon feeding both literally and figuratively these days.

Maybe it's all moot when things are quiet. The test of these sites and their estimates are when demand is high.

I'd like to know who supplies the estimates for the wallets with fee control.
2796  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Dormant blockchain.com accounts? on: November 22, 2019, 05:40:56 PM
Even if they could steal your bitcoins, I doubt they're stupid enough to do that. Imagine how it will affect their business and consumer trust. Sure, they can simply brush it off by saying "we don't steal it, maybe somebody cracks it", but I don't think they'll go full Mt.Gox.

The moment it happened they would have the world jumping down their throat. I have no doubt it has piled up into a significant amount of coinage by now, but there's also the age old thing of coins not moving not automatically meaning they're 'lost'.

Some day some service somewhere will announce a policy along these lines. It'll be a right old mess no doubt.

2797  Economy / Speculation / Re: Calling top at $16500 (Even Newer!: $2483 bottom 19 Feb 2021 MtGox said so!) on: November 22, 2019, 05:28:00 PM
I have not used BSV and hence i am not sure about the delay in transaction but it looks like the problem you faced is because of OKex because of their policy of having 200 confirmation, if you are not able to have a fluid transaction in exchanges then it is highly unlikely that people will be using that coin.

It's nothing to do with Okex. It's to do with the pathetic lack of the coin's security. They can't trust it to not be double spent or hard forked until there's a mountain of confirmations which is why they insist on holding on to it for so long.

Weakness isn't a problem for running yesterday's weather through it. For anything else it sure as shit is.
2798  Economy / Speculation / Re: Calling top at $16500 (Even Newer!: $2483 bottom 19 Feb 2021 MtGox said so!) on: November 22, 2019, 05:10:02 PM
I used BSV and it took more than 24 hours to complete a transaction. This was during the chinese bull run (may 2019), when the network was clogged.

Whereas with bitcoin, when it was clogged (december 2017), didnt took more than 6 hours.

Someone might argue its because BSV dont have enough miners, but then, it have less users as well.

I sold some BSV for LTC through Okex.

They wouldn't release the LTC until there were 200 BSV confirmations which took about 2-3 days of waiting.

Coin of the future I tells ya and superb endorsement of its peerless security.
2799  Economy / Speculation / Re: Disturbing on: November 22, 2019, 05:05:33 PM
We have so many new people in the space who don't really remember Chinese FUD. I wish they would know better and not panic, but it looks like they will have to learn the hard way.

Whether it's true or not, it's still enough to get that newbie blood pumping. It's boring and crap but it is what it is.

I think I might start sleeping with Xi Jinping so I can persuade him to stick a fork in Bitcoin on national TV to close this chapter for good.
2800  Economy / Speculation / Re: Never below 10K again... well that didn't stick - Food for thought on: November 22, 2019, 02:31:26 PM
It's a cast iron rule that as soon as some knob writes 'we will never go below x price again' x price makes a reappearance within 1-24 hours. Anyone who comes out with it gets a brownie point deducted from me.

One day it'll be true. It'll only be clear several months or years after it has occurred.
