3181  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How much do you think Bitcoin.com is worth, what price would Roger sell? on: October 02, 2019, 09:07:17 AM
The value of domain name is not stable, it have more to do with the interest of the buyer. Two domain name appraisal tool websites displays different value for www.bitcoin.com

Would you really choose to believe automated shit like that? Those things are all junk but quadruply so for something like this.

It's going to be several million dollars no matter what, potentially tens of millions. A lot of money can be made with it.
3182  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Trump’s Plan to Ban the Petro Could affect all Cryptocurrencies on: October 01, 2019, 05:56:52 PM
Venezuela’s cryptocurrency ban plan, Petro, is directed only against this state and its cryptocurrency, with which the Venezuelan government is trying to avoid US sanctions. Therefore, this cannot entail the ban of other cryptocurrencies.

The recent news about their central bank looking into using real crypto like BTC is rather more relevant and potentially menacing.

If the DPRK really are swimming in stolen, phished, mined and extorted Bitcoin I'd love to know how they manage to realise value from it as I've never heard a squeak about them getting nailed for it.
3183  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 01, 2019, 05:16:41 PM
You made it to the ‘self made legendary’ status (1000 earned merit). I enjoyed when I made that, I have to be honest.

Aye. That's the only stat that actually counts if you're bothered about that type of thing. I'm not particularly.

It is telling that you can almost always glean that someone's merit count is zilch or near zilch just by reading them without having to look left. There's a particular, and weirdly consistent, vacuousness out there.
3184  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 01, 2019, 04:56:13 PM
I totally agree that as far as life is concerned then Merit’s mean absolutely fuck all. We’re all here because of bitcoin, all we really need is for bitcoin to moon. I enjoy certain Merit milestones but overall I guess yeah, it isn’t too important.

Pah. The only thing written on my gravestone will be my merit count. Plus it'll be internet connected so my astonishing wisdom score will continue to accumulate even after worms eat my eyeballs and brain.

Other than that it's stats that are the true bottomless pit for merit. People seem to LOVE that stuff though I'm not so sure why, especially when most of the stats are about... merit.

I think the requirements are too low for the lowest ranks and too high for the middling ones. And also all legacy merit awarded on the inception of the system should have been stripped and binned long ago.
3185  Economy / Exchanges / Re: How can i withdraw 40.000.00 USD per day? on: October 01, 2019, 03:54:37 PM
yeah re suspicious activity that seems to be their MO. i appreciate their stance. if you trip up their risk analysis they have every right to stop doing business with you. that's a hell of a lot better than bitstamp's approach.

Some vague warning would be nice before but yes, overall it's an approach that would have much less effect on my blood pressure. I'd be disappointed as opposed to raging.

re going beyond the $10k daily withdrawal limit, i assume there are some additional KYC requirements. i'm just not sure what they are. https://support.pro.coinbase.com/customer/en/portal/articles/2945311-limits

To be considered for higher withdrawal limits, please go to your Limits page within Coinbase Pro and click Increase Limits.

My Coinbase account is telling me I'm unlimited and I didn't do anything other than ID and proof of address. I think I've put £10 through there in total so perhaps that changes rapidly when they figure out your behaviour patterns.

Congrats to gentlemand!

Maybe we can all pool some resources and send him on a congratulatory trip to his favorite place, Jaywick Sands.

I am touched by everyone's congrats. I'm actually planning a winter holiday there right now.

I'd only do it if I can stay in an authentic Jaywick prefab complete with spores that'll enter my lungs and always be with me. Sadly that's proving hard to find. Guess I could buy one. Even the ones for sale look suspiciously clean. I want rotten mattresses littering the outside and inside.

3187  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Public online auction for confiscated BTC tomorrow 25 Sep 2019 on: October 01, 2019, 10:45:30 AM
This is different from something like silk road coins with multiple known and tainted addresses from tons of users.

If I remember rightly these were phished coins and few exchanges or law enforcement types will know or care about the addresses.

It's small time stuff.

Report here - https://micky.com.au/uk-police-make-out-like-bandits-in-bitcoin-auction/

7500 bids from across the world and it's saying that on average it achieved above market rates. I don't really recall that being the case but I did miss a few of them as they ended.

SEC Orders Blockchain Company to Pay $24 Million Penalty for Unregistered ICO

https://www.sec.gov/news/press-release/2019-202

It's about EOS. They raised $4.2 billion in their ICO and got fined only $23 million. Roll Eyes

Wasn't that 4.2 billion largely gamed? I got the impression they were buying off themselves to look cool which relates to my favourite comment today from someone on Reddit about this - https://twitter.com/lawmaster/status/1178622451451867136

"It should be 1 to XRP."

Can lightning strike twice in a row? Probably not.

My bum is telling me that we'll have some signs of life between now and then but nothing too dramatic. Going into next year it'll be steady.

I'm going for $10,296.

The Possible Bakkt Effect has been disappointing for many ... There is still a long way to go, there are many events that can happen.

CME launched at the height of the frenzy. They also deal in dollars which will be way more attractive to the people likely to sign up.

I hope Bakkt have the gumption to keep going until it does pay off. Many places give up before then whereas if they'd stuck around for a few more months they would've had money pouring out their arses.

Circle are good at that.
3192  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How much do you think Bitcoin.com is worth, what price would Roger sell? on: September 30, 2019, 10:49:10 PM
You're 100% correct, and I appear quite the idiot.
Running on less than a normal amount of sleep, and in my mind managed to get bitcoin.com supplanted by BTC.com.

So yeah. There's that. My apologies, and thanks for setting the record straight. Smiley

Figures aside those are the businesses behind it rather than the domain itself which is more the focus of the discussion.

It would be extremely intriguing to know what other people could do with it if they were given the opportunity. It feels like they took a long time to get it warmed up and it's still not anywhere near its potential. Some of it still feels like placeholding rather than a concerted effort.
3193  Economy / Speculation / Re: !!! Q3 game is life, Quarter 3 prediction game !!! on: September 30, 2019, 10:34:59 PM
Well, fuck me pink.

I've never won anything in my entire life but my guess was for once relatively carefully considered so I clearly have a new career as a TA guru and crypto 'thought leader' until I go mad like all the others.

I'd like to thank everyone who got me to where I am today and especially the man who ran the competition. I'll PM shortly.
3194  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Coinbase account closure, they don't allow me to pay out 40k EUR on: September 30, 2019, 05:33:14 PM
AND confiscate coins in most cases

Can you point to any thread or comment that confirms that?

I've never heard of anyone being deprived of their money and there are definitely no legal grounds for them to do so unless it's from a confirmed theft and there's some sort of warrant on them. I would expect someone who was subjected to that to be louder than ever. I assume they get quietly resolved and go elsewhere. Could be wrong though.
3195  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 30, 2019, 05:27:48 PM
Yeah, wepork=office rental. Big fucking deal.

I think it's the stats they gather about the work that takes place in their spaces that excites investors, or did. Makes sense as it's probably a very underserved area compared to everyone's porno habits.

I'm amazed all these unicorns have lasted as long as they have. I really thought they'd all be toast years ago. A lot of plate spinning has taken place.
3196  Economy / Speculation / Re: !!! Q3 game is life, Quarter 3 prediction game !!! on: September 30, 2019, 11:25:51 AM
To win and then to loose by buying  bsv

Not cool

I'll bet Craigy and Calvin are now so desperate for visibility they're monitoring this thread and they'll spend their last crumbs on moving the price to the right place at the right moment so he wins.

Then he'll get a front page spread on Coingeek where he invites them into his beautiful home and talks about what inspired him to buy their unusual product.
3197  Economy / Speculation / Re: !!! Q3 game is life, Quarter 3 prediction game !!! on: September 30, 2019, 11:14:20 AM
I think it's going to be Mr. Bett. It's a terrifying thought that your precious BTC may well be spent on... BSV.

I'd have to have repeated showers and an enema or two until I felt clean again if my money had funded such a shocker of a move.
3198  Other / Meta / Re: Report plagiarism (copy/paste) here. Mods: please give temp or permban as needed on: September 30, 2019, 11:04:07 AM

I still maintain that the original thread starter should be properly attributed in the first post. Regardless of what happened several years later. The WO thread is a piece of crypto history and not giving adamstgbit proper recognition is historical negationism. I hope and believe that the mods see the problem I am pointing out and corrects it.

I think this is fair enough.

If I'd been put in charge of the thread I would've left Adam's opening post and added my own explanation inside it about the change of control. Maybe it's better to request it from Intofront or start a dedicated thread. This isn't the place for this.
3199  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin wallets on older iphones are insecure on: September 30, 2019, 10:35:12 AM
I do agree that cryptocurrency wallets installed in smartphones, androids are not safe.

I've genuinely never heard of anyone's - reputable - phone wallet being hacked remotely. I'm sure it's more than possible if it's in someone's physical possession.

The number of hacks regarding Windows PC is too numerous to count. If I had only those two to choose from I'd go for the phone without fail.
3200  Other / Meta / Re: Report plagiarism (copy/paste) here. Mods: please give temp or permban as needed on: September 30, 2019, 10:06:53 AM
user: infofront

That was officially sanctioned by Theymos after much discussion to save the thread. Intofront was the man who took the job on.

Is your endless stream of grouchiness, derision and dissent some sort of act? Your comeback so far has been almost completely worthless.
