281  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you think BTC will hit 2000 USD feb 17 on: January 02, 2017, 12:22:50 PM
I think $1450 is more likely, but who really can guess at this point?

can someone help me with modding this bios ?

http://www.filedropper.com/280xsapphire

its the 280x sapphire dualx (elpida)

getting like 203 sol with this bios right now

when i look up the card via gpu-z i get linked to

https://www.techpowerup.com/gpudb/b2462/sapphire-vapor-x-r9-280x-oc

but my card is

https://www.techpowerup.com/gpudb/b2463/sapphire-dual-x-r9-280x-oc

i bought this card second hand so dont know exactly has been done with this card

ps

I saved the bios with GPU-Z

Most of it was already done.

Saved with vbe to 1020/1500 at vddc 1163

Only one strap needed to be changed to be same as recommended changes in thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1676474.0

here it is: http://www.filedropper.com/280xsapphiremodded

Change it at your own risk!
283  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's CryptoNote GPU Miner v9.6 on: December 31, 2016, 02:27:06 PM
Like I said in an earlier post - I worry about the upgrading of this miner because of all the possible RX cards it will potentially add to the XMR network - making the difficulty skyrocket just like it did when they all appeared on the ETH network, but I guess it's inevitable and Claymore wants/needs his dev fees - he doesn't have to worry about difficulty, he just wants as many miners using his software as possible.

Anyway - I'm hopeful the upgrade will add features and improvements for those of us who have been using this already for a while on R9, R7 and even earlier cards.

Does anyone have any tips or suggestions for the -a and -h settings for R9 380 (4GB) cards with this software. Right now I have them at -a 4 and the default -h and they hash at about 550h/s. I have them core underclocked to 800 (just because it always made no difference when I mined ETH and saves wattage).

Does XMR respond to memory over/underclocking much? It doesn't seem to matter if I have my 290s at 1125, 1250 or 1375. Or my 380s at 1425 or 1500.

On your 380s, copy the 1500 memory strap to the next higher one and run the miner at 1070/1600, should get you at least 610.

when you say "copy the 1500 memory strap to the next higher one" is this something requiring ROM modification or can I just put -mclock 1600 -cclock 1070 into my startup bat? I read a lot about "memory straps" all over the place but haven't done a lot of research into what that actually means. I have been running them at core 800 mem 1500 just using -cclock and -mclock

ROM modification.  Look here for more info: http://nerdralph.blogspot.com/2016/09/advanced-tonga-bios-editing.html

If your system stays stable you can push the memory to the top of that strap with 1070/1625 for about 617 h/s.

280x memory Elpida, editing bios, 1100@1500
7970 memory Hynix editing bios, 1100@1500

At that clock your Elpida should be doing no less than 570.  Try modding your bios with these:

what i must write at bat file
for mining minero?HuhHuhHuh

This is my 380 bat file:

Quote
set GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
set GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
set GPU_MAX_HEAP_SIZE 100
set GPU_SINGLE_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
set GPU_FORCE_64BIT_PTR 0
NsGpuCNMiner.exe -o stratum+tcp://monerohash.com:3333 -u YOUR ADDRESS -p x -di 01 -a 0 -tt 80 -cclock 1070 -mclock 1600

I would change the clock and mem to 1050/1500 for 280x.
287  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's CryptoNote GPU Miner v9.6 on: December 27, 2016, 08:16:30 PM
280x with a modified Bios mining with 470 h/s Default, not overclock
and another 280h with modified Bios digs with 620 h/s Defoult, not overclock
with identical Miner are ( Claymore CryptoNote GPU Miner  v9.6 Beta)
Why is that?

This is something I am quite familiar with.  When I was mining ZCash I modded all my 280x's and 380's.  The mods performed as expected as discussed in the https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1676474.0 Hacked Memory Mod thread.

I didn't bother to put them back to stock then started using this miner with those same mods, some of the cards performed in low 600's with 1050/1500 undervolted to 1100-1125, others were in the upper 400's range, most averaged around 570.  I re-modded those under-performing cards and now they perform like the others.  I have no idea why.  Needless to say, I believe that the optimal memory timing for Tahiti and this algorithm have yet to be disclosed.  Ask Wolf0 if he agrees.  Wink
288  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Wolf's XMR GPU Miner on: December 26, 2016, 06:26:00 PM

am i the only one who just lets the cards manage their own fan? i dont set anything in the miner as far as fans are concerned.

I've tried that too! Let the AMD drivers take care of fan speed adjustments. However, after a while, one of my cards will always randomly start spinning at 100% speed.

i might add thats only happening when mining cryptonight , no such issues with equihash or dagger-hashimoto

Let me rephrase my question:  Are you using the command line argument for temperature target, like "-tt 80" ?
289  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Wolf's XMR GPU Miner on: December 26, 2016, 05:29:06 PM
running into problem , maybe someone have clue whats happening

miner is rock stable with superb power consumption, but from time to time one of cards (random) spins fans up to 100% , i can reset that crazy spinning in afterburner , but then auto speeds are left broken @0% fan speed , and temps are rapidly growing.

using 5x sapphire nitro+ 8gb , win10 , wolf-xmr-miner-v0.4
p.s. i switched from win7 to win10 cause of Error -1 when calling clGetDeviceIDs for number of devices plague , win10 solved issue with unavailable cards.

any ideas ?

I have exactly the same problem, and I've tried about every combination of auto fan/manual fan.

Conclusion: The miner is not rock stable, it is very unstable!

PS: This problem occurs both with wolf-xmr-miner-v0.4 and with sgminer-gm 5.5.4 under Win10 x64 with RX 480 rigs

actualy the same thing happening in Claymore CryptoNote GPU Miner v9.6 too , in claymore miner resets fan to 0% speed itself , wich is even more dangerous.

so it seems there is no reliable cryptonight miners out there unfortunately

That is not my experience.  I am running 11 different rigs with Claymore's CN GPU miner v 9.6 and I monitor them with his Dual Miner Manager 2.1.  I have not experienced what you describe.  Are you specifying a target temp for the GPUs?

Thanks to everyone who helped me. I correct the .bat file and it's working fine! I mine bipcoin just fine! Thanks again.

Yes, thanks I found out my intensity was too high and Afterburner settings were residual.  Bat file helped.
291  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BipCoin, CryptoNote with Fast, Solid Transactions. + plans for distributed DNS on: December 26, 2016, 11:23:46 AM
Yes, a sample command line batch file would be great for sgminer-gm for BipCoin pool.

The sample config file for XMR should work for Bipcoin, just change the pool URL and your BIP address.  http://pastebin.com/RRxNkcgV

Then just run 'sgminer.exe -c configfilename.txt'

Also running 'sgminer.exe --help' will print a list of options.

Yeah, I know it should work but I can't get it to work. Trying on win7-64, sgminer-gm, 2 Tongas: Here's batch file:
Quote
set GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
set GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
set GPU_MAX_HEAP_SIZE 100
set GPU_SINGLE_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
set GPU_FORCE_64BIT_PTR 0
del logfile.txt
sgminer.exe -k cryptonight --gpu-platform 1 -o stratum+tcp://cryptonotepool.com:3336 -u bipaddress -p x --gpu-threads 2 --gpu-engine 1040 --gpu-fan 85 --gpu-memclock 1400 --rawintensity 448  2>logfile.txt

Then I get this error:
Quote

293  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What are your solutions for fake monitors on rigs on: December 26, 2016, 01:32:42 AM
Personally I'd do this:
https://www.amazon.com/1080P-Female-Adapter-Video-Converter/dp/B00OFQUDR0/ref=sr_1_22?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1482715765&sr=1-22&keywords=hdmi+to+vga

At $2.61 each with Free shipping

Then I'd follow the directions here:
https://rumorscity.com/2013/12/06/how-to-create-dummy-plugs-for-your-graphics-cards/

The resistors are pennies a piece so then you just need to sit down and spend a little time with your wire cutter and hot glue gun

Is there any pool that offers the choice of difficulty?
I would like to have a high difficulty pool as currently I am producing 40 shares per minute which requires 40 resets which eats into a lot of efficiency. Dwarfpool has current difficulty of 10,000. I would like to know if there is any pool offering high difficulty (vardiff may be or fixed at around > 20,000 ish)

thank you

monerohash.com
Port: 7777
Starting Difficulty: 25000

I should add that:

Quote
Custom Fixed Diff

You can set a custom fixed diff by separating it with a "@" in your login address on your mining software. That is: WALLET_ADDRESS@custom_diff or WALLET_ADDRESS.payment_id@custom_diff if you use a payment ID.

Minimum allowed fixed diff is 50000.

Does anyone have hash rate and power consumption numbers for R9 380 4GB cards for XMR using this miner (ballpark)? I 380 cards a decent choice for mining XMR?

606 with 1070/1600 and modded BIOS, not sure on power consumption though

Can someone tell how much a 7950 and 280X hash with the latest version?
Thanks.

550-598 for 280x at 1000/1500 undervolted to 1094, likely depends on memory type
572 for 7950 at 1080/1500 undervolted to 1125 (Black Edition, Elpida)

all with modded ROMs as described in the modded BIOS thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1676474.0

which is best pool for mining monero?

Dwarfpool.
I wonder why so categorically?

Likewise.  I mean it depends on are where you are.  Pinging Dwarf vs. Monerohash for me is longer and Dwarf charges 2% instead of 1.6% so guess where I am?

Monerohash is TINY compared to dwarfpool. Dwarfpool has a proven track record for years to be trust worthy and has ~30% of the XMR network. That means frequent luck, payments and their functionality is solid. But by all means, don't let logic stand in the way of choosing an inferior pool for 0.4% (it's actually far more in the favor of dwarfpool due to their size)

I don't dislike Dwarfpool, I have used them extensively for ETH, but I was chiming in on the "categorically" post.  Your comment about "logic" is insulting and implies that you believe that larger is better in regards to choosing a pool.  As any miner should know, diversification of pools is critical for the health of any cryptocurrency and your post actually reveals a lot more about your lack of logic.

Personally, I am taking advantage of this time in mining history and am buying up all the 280x's I can afford.  There will be a time when I am glad I did.
