281  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Consolidating Unspent Transaction Outputs on: August 07, 2018, 02:34:24 PM
I like to use "Coin Control" expert feature on Bitcoin Core to deal with this. By using "Coin Control" you have the freedom of choosing exactly what coins are you moving, so you can pick the bunch of inputs that you want to consolidate into a new address.

Often times noobs get confused about how Bitcoin works and don't realize this should be pretty much a basic feature to understand if you want any privacy at all. Unfortunately, it's how things are nowadays, and I don't see it changing unless someone comes up with a way to add privacy at the protocol level to make inputs and outputs mixed by default at no additional cost. The goal for mainstream adoption is to click "send" and that's it. Having to deal with Coin Control-like advanced features isn't user friendly, but as I said, it is a must nowadays to expect any sort of privacy out of your transactions.
282  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC parabolic bull run will not happen everytime on: July 11, 2018, 05:59:00 PM
You may be correct. For Bitcoin's health sake, it may be better that we take a long way to get to the ATH again. Slow and steady wins the race. Rocketing up to $20k again in a matter of days like we did, you end up paying for that high speed action sooner or later. We will go slowly towards $20k, and when people realize how Bitcoin was never dead and it's now higher than ever, the new FOMO cycle will being, exponentially, dwarfing the previous high, just like the $20k peak now dwarfs the insignificant (and insanely high back then) $1300 peak of the MtGox days. The question is, what will be the peak in the next fractal formation? Some say above $100,000 pretty much guaranteed.
283  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MtGox wallets with thousands of BTC inside on: July 11, 2018, 05:36:10 PM
The government in charge of this did a complete disaster a job handling this situation. Like you said, they should have just given the coins back to the owners in a 1:1 ratio, but what they did is hire some guy to dump the coins in exchanges to pay the owners of the coins in fiat, and in the price that they were at when the crash happened! unbelievable.

It looks like they finally were struck with some sanity and not (correct me if im wrong please) apparently creditors will receive the rest of the coins in a BTC transaction? That's what I heard last time, that they were going to stop selling finally.
284  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you think that people will invest in BTC in future immensely on: July 11, 2018, 04:46:31 PM
We're done with the "investing" in bitcoin part. We need people to actually use bitcoin for what it was intended for.

But why would people use it at all? unless you are in a situation in which you are FORCED to use it (like in Venezuela or whatever) then chances are you will not care less about using fiat to do your daily shopping with bitcoin instead of fiat. People in general don't care, if they government works, they will not look for alternatives.

And the fact that bitcoin can go up 100x in the next 10 years, also guarantees if people have some bitcoins, they will just hold it long term waiting for it to go up, instead of "using it", whatever definition of "using it" you have (I assume you mean buying goods and services with it)
285  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cristiano Ronaldo's next club betting on: July 11, 2018, 04:24:22 PM
Why are the odds of joining Juventus so high - x2.0? I think Ronaldo has already agreed to join Juventus right? He hasn't signed yet but has given his word. Real are going to sell him and not stop the deal aren't they? Does anyone know what the transfer sum is and if there will be other players involved?

'Most likely' but that's not a sure thing.  We haven't even seen PSG's bid yet.  Smiley  Let's wait til they sell Mbappe or Neymar (maybe both).

And the thing to watch here is Real's interest in acquiring Mbappe.  So maybe PSG would be interested in the deal only if there's a cherry on top (Ronaldo).  Grin

Absolutely! The Juventus news is a FUD and nothing has been confirmed yet. However, the chance of Juventus seems really bright as of now. Even though PSG is in the queue but Juventus is almost finalized as per some well known sports magazine. But nothing will really come out until next week. But I believe a five time Ballon D'or winner deserves more payout than Naymar!

Well as we all know now, it turns out it was not FUD, the end of Cristiano's career in Real Madrid was very real and now he is going to Juventus for the next season.

I can't wait to see how he performs there. Im sure he will keep making 30 goals per league on average and it's going to be an epic fail on Madrid's part if Juventus vs Madrid happens and Juventus wins with some Ronaldo goals. Big mistake to let the best player go for such small amount of money, he still has at least 4 more years of elite level playing and they sold him, big mistake.
286  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Signature Campaigns taxes on: July 11, 2018, 04:12:34 PM

It's your own responsibility to keep records backed up. Do you just keep your bitcoins in once place and if they get stolen, lost or destroyed you're shit outta luck? You'll have to check with your local tax authority on what excuses they will accept, though. I'm sure if your house burns down then they would make an exception for that, but not if you just claim "my dog ate my tax records" or "I lost them".

Well this is something you'd have to tell them and hope they understand. It certainly isn't an excuse for not paying taxes though, otherwise everyone would do it. If you can prove an exchange went down or lost your details then I'm sure they'd understand, but you should be keeping records as soon as you make the transactions to avoid any issues further down the line.

When I put my coins in Mintpal to trade I was waiting for confirmations to end, I went to sleep, woke up next morning, and then the exchange had disappeared, I was waiting for confirmations to take the trading history screenshot. This is plain bad luck, not a fucking excuse, it's what happened. It's more like what excuses they will find to confiscate my money.

Also some exchangers are straight scams, like Livecoin which says (in TINY font) "we only save records for the past 30 days". A lot of people didn't see the tiny font, now they lost many trading records, until they realize the stupid idea of not keeping records permanently or at least having it in big font. C'mon!! fuck that. These things just force people to hold these coins and never ever report. What would be the point anyway? you are already screwed.

How do any other businesses pay their taxes? How does somebody who sells cakes out of a cake shop prove they sold as many cupcakes as they claimed? How much did they actually spend on sugar and flour? You keep records and receipts. Businesses keep spreadsheets of in goings and outgoings and pay taxes on their profits. People can just make up a spreadsheet and receipts of course, but if you ever get audited you'll have to provide reasonable proof to back up your claims. Keep records of every bitcoin you receive and every time you sell them. Take screenshots of your transactions and you usually get some sort of email receipt when you cash out coins and that is good enough proof. You people seem to be looking for excuses to try get out of paying taxes, but believe me, your tax authority will not accept any of these as valid excuses. You'll get fines and possibly even jail time if they can prove you have purposely avoided paying taxes due and all the excuses of "I didn't know what taxes to pay", or "it's too difficult to know how much I should be paying" will just be laughed at in court.

I have all of my transactions in Bitcoin Core, I took screenshots of most transactions and trading history, but I was unlucky with Mintpal. Also I have some coins mixed, these I understand I can't never sell now.

Im not looking for excuses to not pay taxes, I just don't want them to find excuses to fuck my hard earned bitcoins up by stealing them from me because some unlucky moment which made me lose some of my trading history. Since there are no guarantees of what happens in this situation, it's safer to hold and look for other people's experience in the same situation, don't be a guinea pig for the goverment's legislation on crypto guys.

Again im not trying to not pay taxes, understand the situation here.

And if governments don't cooperate, they will just scare away holders which will leave to more friendly jurisdictions in this matter, and they will miss on all these juicy taxes while the friendlier country benefits.
287  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Signature Campaigns taxes on: July 10, 2018, 07:53:46 PM

Then keep records. The bitcoin blockchain is one entire public ledger so it's not difficult to find your transactions nor will it be for the tax authorities. Besides, if there's no link from the money going to you then there's obviously no link that the money came from crime either and they can't prosecute you based on nothing or mere suspicions. The Tax authorities likely won't be as lazy or as stupid as those who are claiming they've kept no records so they'll be tracing those funds if they want to prosecute and they'll either find that you've earned them legitimately or that you've been doing something criminal. If anyone is worried about being painted as as a digital drug dealer then keep records. It's not hard to keep a spreadsheet updated every time you receive a bitcoin payment and this is something you should be doing anyway for your own records.

Many people lost records by accident.

Cryptsy, Mintpal, Gox, many many other random exchanges of back in the day, dead and so is your altcoin trading history, what then? You didn't do anything illegal, only trade BTC for alts back and forth, BTC earned in sig campaigns, made some gains and so on, but the trading history was lost in the hack/bankruptcy/whatever random reason these shitty exchangers died randomly. Many of us are affected by this. I have records, but not from Mintpal!

And even if you have records, is it enough? they could claim the screenshot or excel spreadsheet file is fake. Why should they believe it? no way to know by looking at blockchain transactions either. If they believe spreadsheets and screenshots, people could just fake these and launder criminal money.

These doubts, lead people to just hold in BTC.

In some countries, doubt may be enough for confiscation. You don't know every jurisdiction in the world.

The mixed coins are a good point too. If you ever used a mixer, to test, then these coins are lost, as in, you can never sell them. There is a risk that the mixed coins you receive have some criminal links... it would be a problem selling these coins in an exchange, unfortunately. Some people didn't think about this years ago, now they are stuck with never selling, or never being able to buy anything big, that could raise government alarms. They could ask, and then you couldn't explain the origin, since the inputs are mixed.

You must keep track of every input and output of transactions, very annoying but necessary.
288  Economy / Speculation / Re: Fundstrat’s Robert Slyumer: Bitcoin Must Rally Through $6,300 on: July 10, 2018, 07:12:45 PM
We must lose all the pathetic newbies holding bitcoin. They must be annihilated. Please sell already, you don't deserve to own a single satoshi. Only individuals ready to get rich must own bitcoin, the rest must hold fiat and other liabilities. Once all the morons are off the ship then nobody will be willing to sell for these ridiculous prices. The elites are buying your cheap coins and you don't even know it. Sad!
289  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA WORLD CUP 2018? on: July 10, 2018, 05:06:17 PM
I think both teams will try to play it slow and be careful on the defence. I have HT 0-0 and under 2.5 goals. I will bet on a penalty in the match as well. Cheers  Cheesy
under 2.5? that's bold. I went with +2.5 goals @2.05 and BTTS @1.80. We're going to see the likes of Griezmann, Mbappe, Hazard, Lukaku, De Bruyne, Pogba, etc, and these kind of players make me think we're going to see offensive football from both sides.

Real Madrid dominance era is over without CR7.
Very unlikely. They'll just get the next superstar (Neymar, Hazard, Kane, etc) and continue it's dominance.

None of these are in the same level as Ronaldo in my book, they are top players but a step below, not at the same league as Cristiano, Messi, Ronaldinho, Ronaldo Nazario, Maradonna... these are only born like every 50 years. These players you mentioned are top but in the level of Rivaldo for example. They don't give me the same extreme feel as when Maradonna or Messi have the control of the ball.
290  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA WORLD CUP 2018? on: July 09, 2018, 03:31:05 PM
If I had to bet (I will not) I will give Croatia a win against England. England has obviously the most experience in these big world cup finals, but Croatia is extra motivated to get their first cup, and Luka Modric is not the only good guy in the team, it just feels like a solid cub team rather than a selection team of different players put together for a special situation, the team feels very solid. It is my favorite so far. I will not bet tho, because it's too much risk, at this point all of them could win, but that's my 2cents for anyone that wants to bet.

Same. I definitely want Croatia to win, so I am nit gonna bet, to jinx it. My only concern for Croatia is that they have played extra times twice, and England only once, so England will be much fresher, given that their extra time was two games ago. I hope Croatia can use the experience of Luka Modric to win the game. England have their strengths coming from wing play. Sterling, Rashford, Allie etc. Croatia will have to numb that.

It's a double edged sword. If you go through extra times and penalties you will be more tired but at the same time you will have had an extra training and a boost of confidence on how you can get past these times of adversity. If the other teams had an easy way into the finals they may be too relaxed and this may be a problem. If they were able to rest properly then they should have recovered. We will have to find out in two days.
291  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why bitcoin gone too much deep?? on: July 09, 2018, 03:13:15 PM
When bitcoin was on national tv pretty much daily for a week with mainstream media talking about it all the time and reporting on how it went just $1000 up in the last 5 minutes, and you had mainstream media jokes on mainstream media tv programs like Jimmy Kimmel and so on, you knew too many clueless noobs were getting in and it was time to sell. Now that nobody is talking about it as much anymore and when it's mentioned it's to say "it's dead" once again it's when the noobs will not be buying and when the smart will be accumulating for the next peak in $50k-250k ATH. Just business as usual.
292  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Motosport General discussion tread --- Formula1, MotoGP, WTCC, ETCC, DTM..... on: July 08, 2018, 06:18:10 PM
Someone from the cryptocommunity should warn Fernando Alonso, I reckon. His popularity and maybe also his trademark is being abused for the advantage of the Kodakcoin scam hehe.

https://www.coindesk.com/f1-champ-alonso-adopts-kodakcoin-platform-image-protection/

It is really crazy how far scammers will go into promoting their scams. Twitter is getting it's feed filled with fake accounts whose owners are pumping scammy links announcing so called "BTC giveaways", or in an altcoin of choice. Im pretty sure some of these links may contain malware. Just go to any famous crypto person in twitter and in the replies section 9 out of 10 times you will see fake accounts trying to confuse noobs into clicking. Now faking being Alonso to promote a coin is a next level fraudulent.

Edit: Oh wow, so it seems that they convinced Alonso be part of this? Might be similar to other celebrities being persuaded into scams like when Floyd Mayweather ended up in the Centra ICO thing and he had problems with the IRS later. I hope they stay safe, but these people will be ok even if they make mistakes, they have enough money to cover any problems with the law.
293  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA WORLD CUP 2018? on: July 08, 2018, 05:53:44 PM
Croatia vs England
In this match I think we going to watch many goals  and they will play extra time , England have the most player scored goals in this wc .
France vs Belgium
This two team their are the best team in this world cup , Belgium has won all the match and have the best attack .

No one can bet in this two match

Betting on these is too difficult indeed. My sixth sense tells me that Croatia is going to win the tournament, so I may risk it and give Croatia some winning money on the bets, but it's extremely hard to predict at this point.

France vs Belgium, very thought match, but France may be able to win Belgium, Griezmann is very motivated to become a world champion, would be one of the youngest world champions along with Mbappe which is also on fire. Very exciting matches for a football fan even if your teams are already out.
294  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: will other coin beat btc in future ??? on: July 08, 2018, 05:44:55 PM
I don't think that any of the first generation (Litecoin, Namecoin.etc) or the second generation (Ethereum, Ripple.etc) coins are going to beat Bitcoin in the future, in terms of user-base and market cap. If some coin replaces Bitcoin from the number 1 position, that is going to be a third generation crypto-currency such as Cardano (ADA).

I don't think so. The delegates model is most likely gameable-exploitable to the point that it doesn't offer any additional security that the current PoW model in Bitcoin wouldn't provide, so most likely funds are not going to move in Cardano other than small speculators, big pockets are not going to risk it. Maybe if Cardano or any other coin trying to dethrone Bitcoin can prove to be secure for 10 years while resisting several hardfork attempts big pockets may reconsidering diversifying in said coin, until then altcoins have a lot of job to do and a lot to prove.
295  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: will other coin beat btc in future ??? on: July 07, 2018, 04:49:53 PM
In order for a coin to defeat bitcoin it must be:

1) A better store of value (very hard to achieve, due the big PoW network of bitcoin)
2) A better payment system (easy, because bitcoin doesn't really scale much, without giving away some privacy and decentralization)

The problem is it must be BOTH, otherwise bitcoin will always be at least the best store of value. If LN is a success maybe it can be both.
296  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA WORLD CUP 2018? on: July 07, 2018, 04:11:01 PM
Today’s games -

Sweden vs England - England win
Russia vs Croatia - Russia win

Semi finals will look like this -

England vs Croatia
Belgium vs France

Russia win? I doubt this. They should be eliminated soon. Their game vs Spain sucked, all they did is take advantage of Spain playing really bad, they weren't finish any offensive moves, so all they did is have 11 men next to the goalkeeper at all times, then wait for a lucky opportunity (like Pique's stupid hand that caused a penalty)

I think Russia will get crushed by any of the remaining teams. Luka Modric is too good. Russia's only hope is using their very tall men to stop goals from happening and also win the fights against CRO defense's... but overall Russia is the worst team from all the 6 remaining teams.

I think not. Everyone in the league has a shot of winning the game as long as their hunger for the gold is there. Russia may be the worst but give them a shot to prove their worth as a contender for the title.

Russians were lucky a couple of times but that won't happen everyday. Croatia would easily outperform them.
England performed well today and seems like they'll be the winner of the 2018 world cup. Though France would give them a tough competition.

Who knows, maybe luck is on their side because they are the hosts of the tournament after all, and this always gives the players an extra motivation to do well in your land, specially when Putin is closely watching the match, you don't want to lose in that situation. They will whatever it's on their hands to stop Croatia, possibly another show of heavy defense, but Croatia is one of the most solid teams in the tournament, as a matter of fact Croatia is my favorite for the winner contender of the teams left

My top 3:

1) Croatia
2) France
3) Belgium
297  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WHAT HAPPENS WHEN NO ONE SELLS BUT HODL? on: July 07, 2018, 03:54:45 PM
This is simply impossible in practice, but if you want to talk about what would happen in theory, then the price would basically be a flat line. If you want to see how that would look like, just look at a dead exchange graph for example BTC-E:

https://bitcoinwisdom.com/markets/btce/btcusd

As you see, it's a perfect flat line. This is impossible, because equilibrium never happens in markets, unregulated ones at least, as there is always some buying and selling action.
298  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: INDIA KEEPS BAN IN PLACE,ANY THOUGHTS? on: July 07, 2018, 03:41:13 PM
Irrelevant. No matter what your jurisdiction says about bitcoin, when you wake up the next morning you'll open your favorite block explorer and you will see how every 10 minutes there's blocks being mined with transactions on it.

If your government bans bitcoin, you can still use it and obtain with cash or in exchange of goods and services.

If your exchange bans physical cash too, they will pretty much help the bitcoin economy since people will resort to providing goods and services in exchange of bitcoin as the only way to obtain it.

All govs will have a "we are banning the damn thing" period, which will follow by a "we give up, we are unbanning it" period, these that hold through it all and obtain as much BTC as possible during the dip will come out on top.
299  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin = New world order agenda? on: July 06, 2018, 06:36:37 PM
It's very possible that "satoshi" is an organization and they have guaranteed themselves the biggest Bitcoin stack, but think about it... what is the point at all, if they will never move it?

It's has been almost 10 years, and not a single satoshi coin has moved, so what's the point?

At this point they can't move coins anymore, since it would crash the market. Im starting to believe satoshi is dead, so either Hal Finney or Dave Kleiman, or someone else already dead, or maybe he is so committed to his project being a success and was already rich, that he deleted the private keys. Consider all angles.
300  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Pacquiao vs Matthysse July 15 2018 on: July 06, 2018, 06:23:56 PM
The Dude is done but i guess he can still sell a fight and make good money from his fame even though he might end up loosing so i think so long as he doesn't see anything wrong in tarnishing his reputation by loosing fights then we should leave him to make his money. It's good business dude!
Even if Senator Manny can still fill arenas, that doesn't mean its not the time to hang up the gloves yet. What Manny's camp should look at is his capacity to fight, can he still fight younger boxers and win. Manny is already a Legend and a future hall of famer. I would rather see him hang up the gloves while he is still on very good shape, than retire because someone knocked him out cold.

Exactly, he's already a legend but maybe he still want to have a fight so he can earn more money and make all the Filipinos proud again. This is a real business now, because even if he lose the money will come to him. I hope this fight will be a clean one not like those previous fight which Manny really won but the result is different.

I don’t think it’s for the money anymore. He’s already rich enough to retire and be able to sustain his family until he dies. I think that boxing is really his passion and it’s the only thing that he knows to do and can do. Even while he’s a senator and living comfortably, he still chooses to continue fighting. I think it’s bad for him and that he should already retire since from the previous fights, it looks like he has not been performing as well as before plus he’s already getting old. As we should all know, these fights are usually manipulated and betters may have been wanting to see new fighters and winners.

It may be both. Pacquiao loves to fight but he also has problems with the IRS (rumors say). He also needs the money to keep funding his political campaign and other projects in Philippine. If I was him I would keep fighting for as long as I can physically do it without risking my health too much. He is now in a position where every single fight will be a big pay day, even if it's against more mediocre fighters. Keep making money while it lasts, age catches up on everyone eventually.
