281  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: NEW Video Commercial promoting Bitcoin was just released today!! on: May 02, 2019, 08:50:45 AM
but it doesn't seem to be "promoting Bitcoin" though! it is just a company that is advertising their business to get more customers giving them their money in the name of bitcoin. and there is a big distinction here. not to mention that even if it is promoting bitcoin, it is promoting it as an investment that is going to make you rich! and that is not good ever in my opinion. we need to only promote bitcoin as a decentralized currency not something to help you make more fiat (profit)!
282  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 3 arrested in Bangladesh for merely trading Bitcoin on: April 29, 2019, 07:05:39 AM
just FYI Bangladesh is among the handful of countries that have actually banned bitcoin (this is actual ban meaning you can't own, trader, use bitcoin. not like the lies about China, India and a dozen others regarding ban which is fake). so this is not really a newsworthy thing since these people were actually performing something illegal. of course they were arrested because it was a "big operation" otherwise individuals aren't that much under observation to be arrested if they used bitcoin!
283  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Better Exchanges p2p, Exchanges Question (volume) on: April 29, 2019, 06:53:57 AM
What stops a exchange from buying and selling a coin repeatedly to increase volume? if they don`t have to pay tx fees on transactions. They can manipulate volume numbers to promote coins they want to sell.
not only nothing is stopping them from doing that but also all of them are already faking their volumes in order to compete with each other and get a higher "rank" among exchanges. it doesn't have to be a constant buy/sell either there are other ways of faking the volume. it doesn't really affect the market that much though because traders don't look at volume, they look at price movement and if they are willing to buy in a way to increase the price (hence create the incentive for people to buy a certain coin) then so be it, there is nothing wrong with that since it is actual orders from their users they are filling!

Quote
What is the point from removing coins from exchanges? Why add them in the first place? I really wonder how many people have lost their coins due to exchanges doing this and not having a way to send the coins back to the user, The coins will die out on their own anyways if no progression is being made or people do not see the value in it anyways.
in practice this is not possible because you want to be able to trade somewhere and so you have to sometimes accept negative sides and the risks in order to continue trading. and that is why people are still using centralized exchanges despite them being risky or in some cases even shady. so when they lose money they still come back because they accepted the risk. in a way that is the price of wanting to trade.

Quote
Why not just keep your coins in your wallet?
that works but only for those who DONT want to trade and want to only make an investment (basically dump their fiat for bitcoin)

Quote
and exchange p2p? Now there is no middle man to take a cut from Joe trading apples with Sally for oranges.
P2P trading also has its own downsides, risk and problems. low liquidity, scammers, lack of speed,... and lots more are some of the issues you will be facing.
284  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: [GUIDE] How to achieve good profits with Cryptocurrency trading on: April 28, 2019, 10:16:27 AM
I would advise against using websites such as Coinmarketcap.com to get any trading related information such as volume, ranking, ... if you want that kind of information then just visit the exchange that you are already using instead. these sites are only good if you wanted to find a specific altcoin in their search engine and figure out where it is listed so that you can trade it there. otherwise they usually fake volume, they have pretty bad design for ranking coins (since it is based on market cap) and they can be very misleading specially to newcomers.
285  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Anyone keep their trading capital in btc? on: April 28, 2019, 10:04:58 AM
the only reason why I trade is to increase the amount of bitcoin capital that I have! so hell yeah I keep my capital in BTC. the only time that I make an "exit" is whenever I need money or I see a huge rise and the possibility of a bubble and I want to take some fiat profit out so I sell a small amount to cover the profit and eventually buy back the bottom after the bubble burst.
286  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Hits A Golden Cross on: April 28, 2019, 09:51:48 AM
Always remember manipulation is in the market we will see first a correction before we go to the high price, Yes we already hit a Golden Cross after so many years but market is unpredictable and risky for everyone people want to see again the all time high but the current price are far away from expectation price its better to always check the chart and market price.
Correction?lol we have already done correcting in 2018 mid.today we are waiting for the pump and nothing more since we already reached the bottom

correction is not something that ends or happens once! it always happens each time there is a rise without exception because "traders" have to sell to take their profit out otherwise they are not traders, they are investors. and as they sell the price comes down "a little" coming down to a higher level compared to the start hence it is called correction.
what we had in second half of 2018 was not a correction anymore, it was a dump or manipulation for the most part specially any price below $6k was 100% the result of manipulation.
287  Economy / Speculation / Re: Don't Fomo , 3800$ incoming ? on: April 28, 2019, 08:39:00 AM
you can't just draw some random lines on the charts and then say it is an "analysis" telling you a certain price is going to happen with such confidence that you have right now!

the fact is, even the charts are showing clearly that we are on the rise and every other technical and fundamental analysis is also showing a rise. so your conclusion is the weirdest thing in this board at this moment.
the only possible way for price to drop is if something really negative and huge happens to bitcoin and that is not something you can see on the charts because it is categorized under the "unexpected" things in the market. so again your topic doesn't make any sense at all.
288  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The ugly side of Bitcoin on: April 28, 2019, 08:28:24 AM
the mining and its costs is so old right now. these days the new "drama" and "FUD" that people are using about bitcoin is with Tether and Bitfinex's shadiness. you have to keep up and stop rehashing the discussions that are already see through because of being discussed a million times Cheesy
289  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and Tether? on: April 28, 2019, 08:10:45 AM
I have always said that Tether is a disaster waiting to happen and I am almost sure that sooner or later it will crash hard and disappear (as in drop to 0 and be worthless not a small value like $0.5!). but I am not yet convinced that bitcoin should even be affected by that because bitcoin has nothing to do with Tether, and it doesn't even need it!!!
when was the last time you heard someone say I am going to buy bitcoin with Tether! that is stupid because they first have to had converted their fiat to Tether and then use Tether to buy bitcoin. so why not buy bitcoin with fiat and save on a lot of fees?

price being affected temporarily is a different scenario though. because the short term effects are always due to FUD and newbie panics combined with whales taking advantage of them.
290  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Educative YouTube Channel on: April 28, 2019, 07:48:02 AM
please don't take this the wrong way but before you start doing that first think about what you are really doing different that makes others choose to watch your videos and not others that already exist. for example Andreas Antonopoulos has fantastic videos that cover almost everything and I think everyone agrees that the contents are excellent so what sets your videos apart?
a difference could be if your videos were in a different language for example so that people who don't speak English could still benefit from such videos.
although "recovery" that you mentioned can be a unique topic since I have not yet seen anybody do that. but the other two (wallets, services) already exist.
291  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who is a Bitcoin Millionaire on: April 28, 2019, 07:36:56 AM
the real question that you should be answering first before asking your own question is "what difference does it make?"
since bitcoin price has gone up from practically being worth zero to a huge value ($20k at some point) there obviously are some bitcoin millionaires who started accumulating bitcoin in early days that it was worth nothing and have made a big profit but in the end knowing who they are and how much they own doesn't change anything for you so asking this question here doesn't make any sense unless you have a particular reason which is why I demanded that question.
292  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stupid Bitcoin Traders on: April 25, 2019, 07:51:02 AM
And he says... "NO, NO, NO. Not for me - I learned my lesson"
No Dumb-Ass... You didn't learn shit!

that is the story of a great number of "traders" in this market, and most of them never learn their lessons. I somewhat agree with the first reply but I say he might have learned his lesson only if he doesn't come back ever or only comes back when the educates himself. but in my experience these types of people never change. soon enough when the big rises begin they come back and again lose money because of bad decisions. in some cases it is even like an addiction!

and that doesn't stop there either, some even go to altcoins since they lost money in bitcoin and then get crushed even harder because they suddenly decide they should bag hold altcoins and as they get dumped on them (since they are pump and dumps anyways) they lost all their money there.
293  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin can't be banned on: April 25, 2019, 07:41:09 AM
that is what being decentralized and censorship resistant means.
we keep hearing these terms or even use them ourselves sometimes but some people don't know the real meaning of them. and this here is exactly what these two mean, they are the reason why bitcoin can never be banned, killed,... because it doesn't have a centralized point of failure. to kill it you will have to kill thousands of individuals all around the world who are running a node and/or mining bitcoin blocks.
and that is why we always fight to keep it decentralized and kick anybody who wants to pull us towards centralization in the mouth!
294  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin technology and as a currency different? on: April 25, 2019, 07:33:47 AM
it is not just that people focus on the price, it is because price is a part of bitcoin and since it is quite volatile you always see a lot of people talking about it and try to analyze these changes.

as for the relationship between the price and the technology, I have to say the technology is the only reason why the price continues going up because bitcoin is one of a kind without any similar counterpart and the utilities it offers because of its technology are useful and as a result it continues getting adopted more and more, and with increase of adoption (demand) the price rises.
295  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The middle ground for all skeptics and enthusiasts on: April 24, 2019, 06:29:34 AM
what you are talking about are the "extremists" and being an extremist has never been a good idea, not in bitcoin and not in anywhere else. it is the extremists who say bitcoin will replace fiat, it is the extremists who say bitcoin is fraud and won't end well,... and all of them are incorrect.

bitcoin's biggest selling point IMO is that it's programmable money and its supply/scarcity is predictable. the truth is that most people don't (and never did) care about the economics underlying their money. they use dollars (whether cash or checks or venmo transfers) because everyone else does.

you are forgetting about the more important characteristic which is decentralization. which then brings us things such as a currency that is not controlled by any government or centralized authority so there is nobody who can restrict you on how you use your own money or has his hand in your pocket.
296  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If there is no hard fork, will the real value of Bitcoin be higher now or lower on: April 24, 2019, 05:32:34 AM
there are two forces in an "airdrop" forkcoin:
1. the part where people buy bitcoin to get that airdrop and make profit
2. the part where the same people get their airdrop and cash out.

the thing is, these types of people are "temporary" in the market. they come and go just like the forks and just as fast. so their effects in the long term is negligible and not to mention small. in short they may cause an increased volatility for a short time. and bitcoin being big, that airdrop has to have a big incentive to attract enough people to cause that volatility.
297  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Could Exceed $1 Million in 7 -10 Years: PayPal Director on: April 22, 2019, 09:15:41 AM
it has never been a matter of "if" bitcoin succeeds. bitcoin is already succeeding and growing every day. and when that happens price will be a lot higher than this, $1 million will be just a start. in my opinion the thing is as Satoshi once said, bitcoin will either succeed and be used by millions of people or fail and won't be used at all.
with the path that bitcoin has been on for the past 10 years, price is going to rise past $1 million in a couple of years and 2 or 3 more "cycles".
298  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy every dip! on: April 22, 2019, 08:19:12 AM
just as a reminder, the previous one lasted for two and a half years.
I think you may need to take a look at the charts. price drop began at the end of 2013 (December=$1100) and bottom (lowest price) was reached by the start of 2015 (January=$150) which means the actual bear market lasted a year.

That's not how I would measure things. Since we are only distinguishing between bull and bear markets, it's not really fair to call an accumulation range a bull market. They are specifically not uptrends and are often characterized by lower lows such as the August 2015 crash.

In classical trading terms, Dow theory, etc. we didn't form the first signs of a bull market until October 2015. That's when we officially exited the long term bottom range, saw a weekly golden cross, and actually began forming unbroken higher highs/higher lows succession. We established previous long term resistance (the July 2015 top) as support.

In comparison, we have seen none of those things yet here. Structurally, it's still really premature to declare the bear market over. This could technically still be a correction to the bear market so we need to be patient and let time do its thing. I'm confident we will form a bullish structure and break out into a bull market. But it's not visible on the charts yet.

OK, I can agree that we can not call the accumulation phase a "bull market" although I don't agree on the dates you mention for the start of it but since it was not the point I was trying to make, lets just pass that.
the point as you also said it yourself is that it was an "accumulation phase" and NOT a "bear market" anymore.
technically a bear market is where price is going lower and lower for whatever reason. so when the drop stops we can no longer call it a "bear market". I would even go as far as saying the bear market ended when price reached the $2xx range since the drop to $150 was due to some FUD (the scaling fight!) and was unnatural market manipulation.

I think most people call it bear market because they think there is only 2 choices! but in reality there are more. or maybe because they think if price doesn't double every month then we are in a bear market!
299  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wow! Exchanges track how you spend btc! on: April 22, 2019, 08:05:59 AM
#1. Yes, Bitcoin needs better privacy.  We don't need another coin to do it for bitcoin because it'll be built on top. Schnorr signatures and mimble-wimble are attempting to solve some of this now and segwit is the base layer entrance to allow these to happen without a hard fork.  Good things take time to build, be patient.

you are wrong about almost everything here!
first bitcoin does not "need" better privacy. it already offers a very good level of privacy. what you had in mind is anonymity and that will not happen either since bitcoin doesn't need that either.
secondly, Schnorr signatures are not for privacy! there is only one thing that is remotely related to Schnorr and that is the aggregated signatures that offers a little privacy for multi signatures not generally.
as for SegWit, we still need a hard fork to enable things such as Schnorr since it is changing the way signatures are calculated and will probably need a new OP code which doesn't exist at the moment.
300  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If China Ban , Bitcoin Hashrate Will Drop ? on: April 22, 2019, 07:56:17 AM
but if bitcoin mining is prohibited and becomes illegal in my opinion there will still be people who use it even though they have to hide

That is possible but that is risky  . if ever they caught  , they will be fine and worst they will be jailed for a long time .

for some reason you are just making the assumption that China has banned bitcoin mining and then based on that you make another assumption that there is this law that jails people who break that ban!
there was no ban and there is no such law. and people are continuing to mine in China as before. all of this was a drama started a couple of days ago due to the bitcoin price rise and the fact that some people weren't done accumulating and wanted the price to come back down. they failed.
