1241  Economy / Speculation / Re: SEC Rejects 9 Bitcoin ETF Applications Whats Next Target of bitcoin? - 23 Aug18 on: August 23, 2018, 11:08:49 AM
many people Predict if SEC approves price jump . Now sec disapproved now price again down to earth ?

"down to  earth"?!!!
if SEC approves ETF there will be a price jump because that would come as a huge shock to the whole market since we don't expect it to be approved!
but if it is rejected, people are prepared for it and all the dozens of rejections so far has prepared them for the worst. additionally most of the investors are waiting for the ETF decision so that they can invest with no risks ahead so after its approval/rejection it would only be a matter of time before the big rise.
1242  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Once again, bitcoin investors hold their breath for an ETF approval on: August 23, 2018, 06:04:42 AM
I agree that the market is becoming more resilient to the ETF bullshit news and people are stopping to care  about it slowly but surely. but also let us not forget that this new ETF that was rejected (9 of them!) weren't exactly on anybody's radar. so their rejection wasn't really a big deal. I believe SolidX ETF which will be (probably) rejected in September is the main one that is hyped up.
in any case this build up denials are good to soften the blow by the time they deny the final one and we are done with SEC and their shenanigans ...
1243  Economy / Speculation / Re: How far is the bottom for Bitcoin ? When will it peak again? on: August 23, 2018, 05:46:12 AM
it is practically impossible to predict the bottom by just looking at what happened in previous times. and the big price drop OP posted is only one of many big bubbles that bitcoin had in its history and most of them don't end with a big drop. they usually have a much smaller drop and in a much shorter time-frame. what we have today is one of the bigger and longer ones.
additionally as other poster mentioned bitcoin is being adopted more and more and with it the market grows, as a result the swings aren't as big and things happen much faster because there is a lot more traders and a lot more money in the market now.
1244  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: will decentralised exchanges be the future ? on: August 23, 2018, 04:59:36 AM
I do not think that the future will be decentralized exchanges for many reasons I will summarize:

 - New investors: Many newcomers do not care about decentralization, they only focus on profits and guaranteed trades, decentralized platforms do not provide this feature.
 - Current situation: So far the trading values of the central platforms are higher.[1]
 - Regulatory decisions: If any market regulation occurs, the central platforms will be preferred.
 - Problems when using those platforms.[2]

[1] Top 100 Cryptocurrency Exchanges By Trade Volume
[2] Localbitcoins.com is illegally holding my 9.3 bitcoin on "escrow" since may 2015

I disagree because all the reasons you mentioned are things that are affecting the situation right NOW not in the Future.

- in the future we are not considering the newcomers anymore because those that are already in are a lot and focusing on profit  doesn't concern centralized or decentralized exchanges. you can make profit regardless of the platform.
- that is it, "current" situation, not future situation.
- this can go both ways, imagine a very strict regulatory rules, unreasonable taxes, and centralized exchanges that are still being hacked. people will choose decentralized exchanges without hesitation.
- localbitcoins is not exactly a decentralized exchange though. in many ways it is centralized in my opinion.
1245  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin Accelerate the End of Fiat Currency? on: August 23, 2018, 04:53:48 AM
it is not going to happen. for years people have been talking about the fiat doom and it has never happened and it is simply because fiat is being used even if there is debt and all that it will affect the country and the value of that certain fiat not the whole world's fiat currencies and it will definitely not kill fiat!
bitcoin's growth is just going to be an additional currency that is introduced and used by many people eventually. it doesn't have to replace anything, and it was never meant to replace fiat anyways.
1246  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Price Technical Analysis: BTCUSD Capped by Strong Resistance on: August 22, 2018, 12:42:43 PM
Also ironic point here is if BTC just traded 6500 area for the rest of the year it would be positive in encouraging business from a stable point of reference condition.
That would be an ideal outcome, especially with how low the fees currently are in what a lot people consider to be a boring market. Without hype fees remain low and that should give people the incentive to transact more.

that will bring us back to the famous chicken and egg problem of bitcoin and its adoption.
if more businesses start accepting bitcoin because its price is stable then that can increase the adoption and with it the price will start rising up again and eventually a big fast rise and a resulting bubble which will then end up with another crash and so on.... increasing the volatility again.
I think this problem with remain with us until mass adoption.
1247  Economy / Speculation / Re: No rise in the price of BTC in this August 2018 on: August 22, 2018, 08:14:52 AM
Very bad news for BTC holders. BTC price is not moving upwards in August 2018.
price not moving upwards is only bad news for newbies who thought bitcoin should rise every single and not rising is equal to being dead.
otherwise for the rest of us bitcoin not rising means an accumulation phase which is a natural stage in any market before a rise.

Quote
Looks like the rest of the days of August will be in downtrends for BTC price chart.
that's just dumb conclusion! you say just because it doesn't rise then it should fall!!! I don't know where you got your logic from but that is not how the world works.

Quote
The red is dominating green for all altcoins. Looks like another panic month for longtime holders.
altcoins have been getting dumped for a long time and will continue being dumped for a couple of more months but that has nothing to do with bitcoin. they sometimes put some pressure on bitcoin price but it is nothing that big bitcoin market  can not handle.
1248  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SCAM BITTREX EXCHANGE faking orderbooks & buy sell orders [proof enclosed] on: August 22, 2018, 07:46:36 AM
On the buyers side, there is a total of 17285205.223 RFR which is supposed to be 11.7 BTC worth, however Bittrex is saying it's worth 4.319 BTC. The same thing goes for the sellers and the other screenshots.

it is because your calculation is flawed. you are doing this:
17285205.223 * 0.00000068 = 11.75393955BTC

but you should have done this:
(41073.529 * 0.00000068) + (19955.770 * 0.00000067) + (243789.392 * 0.00000066) + ... (x * 0.00000001) = ResultBTC
and Result should be equal to 4.319BTC. if you did that and it was not then you can say it is wrong.
1249  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is worth more use of gold? on: August 22, 2018, 07:30:07 AM
Economist Paul Krugman says that the exploitation of Bitcoin uses a lot of electrical energy, but the largest codified currency is worth more than gold

Gold at $1200/ounce. That way Bitcoin $1500 is not bad and more than gold.

if you are using 1 whole bitcoin against only 1 ounce of gold instead of 1 Ton or 1 ingot of gold then why stop at 1 whole bitcoin?  report the price of 100BTC and say that is higher Cheesy

the reality is 1 ounce of gold (according to you) is worth $1200 and 1 satoshi of bitcoin is worth $0.00006
or better use 1 bit (100 satoshi) which is going to be $0.0066
1250  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BITCOIN NEWS AND UPDATE on: August 22, 2018, 06:47:27 AM
Earlier today BTC dropped roughly 3.7%, falling from around $6,450 down into the $6,200 region. Price wicked the lower end of the support and consolidation zone and was propelled back higher in what is becoming the same old song and dance.
lowest price TODAY was $6405. in fact by the time you made your post here price has risen to $6906 and came down a little to $6750 then you made this post! maybe you are copy pasting this comment from somewhere that posted it before but you need to look at the charts before posting things here Cheesy

Quote
Currently we are in a no trade zone but should price continue to climb higher to $6,580 or above, we will consider looking at placing some sell orders and ride it back down.
again you should check the charts before posting. price already broke above that and reached $6906! selling at $6580 meant losing a big amount of money since after the rise price is still at $6669

Quote
We are NOT shorting just yet, but rather looking for some kind of bearish rejection candle on 4h to confirm our theory.
the only time that shorting bitcoin may be a good idea is if a big bad news happens like an exchange hack, and possibly even the ETF rejection. other than that, at this point shorting bitcoin is dumb.
1251  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi's now has 600- 700k bitcoins? on: August 22, 2018, 06:41:07 AM
We don't even know is Satoshi Nakamoto alive. How the hell did this Bitmex research found out that Satoshi's coins are 600-700K and not 1M?Anyway,I believe that it's kinda unfair that the creator of bitcoin has so many btc.Perhaps it was better for him to destroy or give away those bitcoins.

no, absolutely nothing about it is unfair. whether Satoshi owns 1BTC or 1 millionBTC it doesn't make a difference, those coins were not premined, they are not ICO, they are not shadow mined or anything like that. every single coin was mined and every single block could have been mined by anyone else who wanted to mine bitcoin at the same time as Satoshi. that is the fairest way of distribution. you could have started your computer back in 2009 and use you CPU to find a bock and get 50BTC, the fact that you didn't choose to do that means Satoshi mined those blocks and got the reward.

ps. it is funny how the article uses the word "loss" when talking about the 300k difference, as if it were something that was owned and is no longer in his pocket Cheesy
1252  Economy / Speculation / Re: Today`s bitcoin market is pretty quite slow! on: August 22, 2018, 06:24:33 AM
and how do you propose we "grow" the market today?
all I see is that you are calling people stupid because they chose a certain method of investing in bitcoin instead of being a day trader, buying and selling bitcoin every day with every small change.
and all the while you are expecting the price to always rise, and do it big and quick. well my friend that is not going to happen. we will have big rises from time to time but they are not the majority of the times. they are rare cases. the rest of the time price is slowly rising or stable for accumulation.
1253  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Buy ETH or not? on: August 21, 2018, 11:33:59 AM
unlike most others I am not going to tell you whether to buy ETH or not, instead I am going to try to help you learn how to make that decision on your own.

first question that you need to answer is what your trading strategy is?
there are two ways you can do it. one is short term and another is long term. based on this the approach can be different. for instance in a short term trading strategy you can still buy anything including ETH even if the price is falling. because even during a fall, price can recover and rise a little and that is what you want, a small rise to sell after and make profit on your money. a longer term strategy requires buying in the dip but only if you think a reversal is going to happen not just a dead cat bounce. which brings us to the second point.

second where do you actually see ETH in short and long term. do you think the drop has ended? or is it just on the down and having a small recovery. for the first case if you think it has actually ended and think $300 is the bottom of it then you should make sure to buy but if you think $300 is just another price on the way to a much lower price then you should never buy. instead you should wait for that lower price like $50 to be reached first before you start buying it.

for this you need to analyze the coin. for example look at its supply and the demand that exists for that supply. how well do you think that is designed? hint: ETH has 101 million coins in circulation and the demand is pure speculative.
1254  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Price Technical Analysis: BTCUSD Capped by Strong Resistance on: August 21, 2018, 10:10:59 AM
you can not call it being "capped" because it is just a resistance and it will eventually be broken on the way up as bitcoin starts its rally soon. for the time being we are stuck in this price level and the investors are not going to come back unless the problems ahead of us (ETF rejection) is resolved so that we can have a healthier market.
in other words the resistance is not strong at all, the problem is with lack of demand for higher prices. for now only day traders are left in the market making short term trades.
1255  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Pornstar Brenna Sparks working on a topless educational crypto videos on: August 21, 2018, 09:21:22 AM
being topless and education don't exactly agree with each other! unless you are gay or a non-lesbian woman you would not be able to focus while a half naked female "teacher" is talking about a topic. your focus would be elsewhere all the time Grin

not to mention that this is not some famous pornstar with a lot of followers! this is some random unknown person with a twitter account, it is not going to change anything because the audience is not really that wide.
1256  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New BTC dump upcoming! 18000 BTC moved to BitMex... on: August 21, 2018, 07:25:10 AM
You cannot just predict a dump by looking at someone moving their coins to an exchange. There are other possibilities too, like selling them for their own profit or may be the previous exchange was not preferable to them. Anyways, we cannot do anything about it right now rather than observing the situation.

That's how speculation works. There really aren't any tried and tested methods to predict how the Bitcoin market will move, so people try to look for anything and everything they can use. A move like this could actually be significant depending on the context (like Roger Ver moving 25k coins to an exchange last November lol), but this one obviously isn't. This mentality about whales being able to freely control the market has become a self-fulfilling prophecy where we allow them to affect the market simply by moving their coins.

but we can't really call that speculation because speculation is supposed to be based on facts not based on guesses. speculation itself can be a guess but the basis must be facts. in this case when you see coins move you would be making 2 guesses and them making a conclusion. the first guess that nobody mentioned is that you are guessing it moved to "an exchange". the fact is you don't know where they moved. it may just be to another wallet, or it may even be sold off the market not on exchanges. and the second guess that others also said is that you are guessing they were "sold"! for example when someone moves coins to an exchange it may be to put up a fake sell wall preventing the rise so that they can BUY more.
1257  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lets say they upgrade bitcoin will my public and private key still work on: August 21, 2018, 06:58:19 AM
i created a wallet form web wallet
and an keeping safe 12 words and a bitcoin address public key and private key

the important thing you have to keep in mind is that a "private key" is universal. which means if you store the private key like this:
Code:
5Kb8kLf9zgWQnogidDA76MzPL6TsZZY36hWXMssSzNydYXYB9KF
it will work forever and in any wallet application. it doesn't matter how you created it as long as it was a safe way, it will work and it won't change.

but when you are talking about words aka seeds or some call it recovery phrase, in some cases the wallets may implement their own specific method of getting the keys from the seeds. for example
Code:
slim sugar lizard predict state cute awkward asset inform blood civil sugar
this is an Electrum seed. it will not work on other wallets and in order to recover your coins you need to either use Electrum or modify the code in another application/tool in order to get the keys and be able to use them.

it is not a big deal since all of the good wallets like Electrum are open source but it is best to know it now rather than having to figure it out and dealing with it later. and also you need to check what the wallet you are using (the web wallet you mentioned) is using for its Seed generating method.
1258  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think Satoshi wanted the market to grow that much? on: August 21, 2018, 06:50:24 AM
all these "companies", altcoins, ICOs and all the rest of the useless crap that is being created on a daily basis has nothing to do with bitcoin or with what Satoshi wanted or didn't want. it is all about the greed of people who saw bitcoin and the money making potential that the hype of bitcoin could bring to them which is why they started creating their own crap (like ICOs for instance) and take advantage of that greed and make money.

that market size is not growing based on how many shits are being created. the market size is only growing with bitcoin and that adoption that it has. and then on a very smaller scale with some rare cases of good altcoins that actually contribute to the technology.
1259  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are you one of those who think that BITCOIN will not rise this year? on: August 21, 2018, 06:45:05 AM
it depends on what you mean by "rise"!
usually people these days when they say "rise" they mean to ask whether bitcoin price is going to go back to the ATH ($20k) and beyond. well that is not going to happen in short term because  we have been in a bear market and to reverse that, it takes time.
but a rise will happen. in fact the rise was starting to happen before they prevented it with the ETF news and the panic that news has caused in the market. if ETF's fate is determined today, in a week from now we will start rising.
1260  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Warren Buffet , Bill Gates , ... call Bitcoin a scam ? on: August 21, 2018, 05:42:47 AM
there are thousands of others who are bitcoin experts and are praising this great technology like Andreas Antonopoulos, why aren't you listening to them and quoting them? you are focusing on a handful few that spread some FUD about bitcoin at some point for certain reasons and the worst part is that they are not familiar with bitcoin. for instance someone like Warren Buffet is ancient so he doesn't know what new technologies like bitcoin are Cheesy
