Smart enough to invent a new currency whose production runs out within the creator's lifetime, but too naive to think that they could ever be worth something? Unlikely.
Try again. The last reward reduction from 0.00000001 down to 0.00000000 is slated to be in about 100 years from now.

Ok, whose production effectively runs out in the creators lifetime...but let's not argue the trivial. Etlase2 is right.
Are you attempting to assume that the future value of 0.00000001 will be equal to or less than its current value? For all we know, in years 2108-2112 such a denomination could be worth quite a lot.

But then of course by then they could have invented lifespan-extending drugs or something. So what do I know.

Did he accidentally paste something wrong? If that's any of his passwords, he should be even more ashamed than usual.

Bolt this onto GPUMAX and you will have the most epic win ever.

There is a thread where some folks enumerate their lost coins due to data loss or hdd formatting etc - maybe that would have insight into some of the blocks in this list.
286  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Power Blackouts - Does Bitcoin keep on ticking? on: August 04, 2012, 03:06:25 PM
Niko, it seems that things only works with iphone, while bitcoin works on every phone  Cheesy
Doesn't work on my blackberry. Sad
287  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Your Electricity Cost per Kwh (Which country is the Most Expensive) on: August 04, 2012, 02:39:11 PM
----------------------------------------------------------
Price per kWh      |      USD $.12 to $0.15 based on demand
Current as @       |      July 2012
Provider              |      AEP Ohio
State/Province     |      Ohio
Country              |       USA
----------------------------------------------------------

Gotta love demand meters with KVAR checks on commercial buildings. Demand charges are close to $15.00/kw when exceeding contract levels.

EDIT: Rate Tariff: Medium General Service-240 (GS3 2ND)

Although it hurts, I've lowered the prices even more on these excellent clean units. If you want the whole works (2 remaining PSUs and custom power strip), I'll send them all to you for $190.
289  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: DGM VS PPS on: August 04, 2012, 01:24:28 PM
What is difference in DGM vs standard deepbit proportional?
DGM makes you more money, because proportional is subject to hopping and a 3% fee.
290  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 4 dead PSUs, there HAS to be a commonly failing component on: August 04, 2012, 03:10:20 AM
old but still valid.

My experience is bad caps or bad fans causing heat and switching transistor failures.  It is usually not worth attempting to fix a PS below 700W.

I read that before, the author said "I repair lots of power supplies and it's really quite easy and practical" but I felt the opposite after further reading...
Bear in mind that it was written in sometime around 1998.
291  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Email received from Bitcoinica just a moment ago. From Zhou on: August 04, 2012, 01:25:40 AM
I can understand slightly if you wanted to provide information to facilitate things, although I don't necessarily agree. But the promotion of the new service was certainly unsolicited spam and a really cheap shot. You should never have breathed a word about it when sending a mass email.

293  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Dr. Kevin Lim PhD = Zhou Tong ~ Not a conspiracy theory! on: August 04, 2012, 01:19:25 AM
All the fuck I'm trying to do is help the Bitcoin community find the truth. The evidence is clear. But in case it's not, I'll pen a better timeline.

Peace, all.

~Bruno~

Here's your major problem.  Things which you think are clear evidence, others believe are tenuous connections at best or conspiratorial nonsense at worst.  It's often difficult for people to establish what it is you believe the information you've presented proves, let alone why you believe it proves your assertions.  You're going off on so many tangents that any meaningful connections you may have found are getting lost among the more dubious stuff.
I couldn't have said it better. Take heed, Bruno, because this is exactly correct.
294  Other / Off-topic / Re: Sorry, y'all: Game Over. I'm about to buy all the bitcoin. on: August 03, 2012, 10:14:19 PM
Oh, I'm mistaken.  The naked domain (without www.) has that, but the www.  still goes responds with the scammer site.
Weird, not for me.
295  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Who is Patrick A. Murck? on: August 03, 2012, 10:01:13 PM
Bruno, take a couple of days off this weekend and go do something totally unrelated to Bitcoin and the Bitcoinica drama.  You're not doing your own mental health any good trying to find evidence of some grand Bitcoinica conspiracy in which no-one is what they seem.  If there's evidence to be found, it will still be there in a couple of days.
+1

Yeah lets have a curses based forum.... oh wait

Where's the option for "none of the above"?

EDIT: I picked hammer just for shits and giggles.

This site is the same scammer as Easzpay.com (which has since been taken down), or at least is using the same PayPal address:

299  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: predictions for next hack on: August 03, 2012, 09:14:22 PM
Thanks for the votes of confidence Tongue

Surely a year without any security issues counts for something?

Just giving you a heads up on the target not necessarily any vulnerabilities. Please take our votes as a word of CAUTION. We like you!
Target of whom? You? As far as I recall, the thread is entitled "predictions for next hack".
300  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Can someone explain merged mining to me? on: August 03, 2012, 06:24:36 PM
Thanks guys, but I still don't get it. Can you walk me through it step by step? I thought solving a block was just a guess-and-check, so my thinking is that the "check" step is what takes all the computational resources. So by "checking" two different chains, you're doubling the cost.

Obviously I'm wrong, can someone clear up my misunderstanding? Thanks!
"Guess" is what takes up all the resource, "check" is easy and doesn't require much at all.

"Difficulty" is in reference to how low a number must be before it is valid, the smaller the number the larger the difficulty. Since the Namecoin difficulty is lower than Bitcoin difficulty, that means that any Bitcoin block solutions are automatically also valid for Namecoin because they are equal to or better than the required difficulty.
