Let's look at the facts:

3. MTGOX is based in Japan outside of US government jurisdiction.

You fools...

Obama can now have peacetime martial law, and confiscate anything he wants, anytime... and if you read through the whole order, he can confiscate ANYTHING he wants INTERNATIONALLY if he deems it a threat to national security.

we have slept to long, and it may be too late for us ALL now

I just moved to bitminter, because i feel like i am missing out on profit from nmc, if slush adds nmc, ill be back.

I'm wondering if combined mining is actually a waste of computational effort -

Bitminter has 11.5TH and got 17 BTC blocks today so far + 79 NMC blocks
Slush got just 9.7TH but got 25 BTC blocks today so far + 1 NMC block

So, if that's the case - I'd rather have BTC than MNC.

we can have both, nmc wont take anything at all away from btc.  It just needs to be set up.

I don't think that's the case, Slush created the stratum protocol and has said merged mining doesn't work (yet or at all I'm not sure).

Stratum is not limited in terms of merged mining.  It's a matter of adding merged mining to the pool software.  Both Slush and BTC Guild have elected to stop supporting NMC with Stratum due to complete lack of development.  NMC is based on bitcoin 0.3 code, has had NO active development in over a year.  It is a failed experiment only being kept alive by people taking advantage of others with pump & dumps.

yet, extra income is extra income.  it only takes time to set up, once. We dont have to wave a flag for nmc to make a profit from it.

I miss the nmc as well.  I have thought about switching to bitminter because of the nmc support.

Please bring back nmc

288  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: BUying 7970's Which do you recommend... why? on: April 29, 2013, 05:12:59 AM
just found this  http://www.legitreviews.com/article/1805/14/

sounds VERY promising for these cards.

Our friends at AMD were kind enough to send over the new BIOS file and the WinFlash tool that was needed to get the job done. AMD plans on releasing an executable of this BIOS to the public, but the one they sent us to distribute was having a few issues on some boards we tried it on.

With the new BIOS installed we were shocked to see the max clock settings were now 2000MHz on the core and 2500MHz on the memory! Houston, we are not clock limited any longer!

I have replaced this card with a new 7970, so this precious bitcoin artifact is sitting on my shelf collecting dust.
290  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: A piece of Bitcoin history. Video card that found Block 210000 on: April 26, 2013, 05:52:16 AM
I will pay 0.9 bitcoins shipped to 54501 for this video card.

I do not care that it mined block 210,000.

lets all mine solo, and split up the winnings

Also, I'm testing out some new software which is slush-specific. In fact, even though it's brand-new-barely-beta, it functions better for me than GUIminer.

Adding to that, while I don't mind making money, money is not the first reason I'm doing this.

300  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: **OFFICIAL? - My BTC-e Account Got Hacked and All Funds Stolen thread on: April 15, 2013, 01:22:50 AM
Again I will say this...

I use a unique randomly generated password containing uppercase lowercase and numbers for every different site I use...

I'm using chromium on linux. I do not have Flash or Java enabled. Java is not even installed on my system.

Support at btc-e initially told me that my email had been changed to a random address @mailinator.com and that my funds had been withdrawn.  You say btc-e has always had email confirmation for email addresses changes. If this is the case, how were they able to change my email without me ever getting a confirmation??

I initially had a suspicion that an employee at btc-e may have been the culprit, but I no longer believe that was the case or am going to make that accusation. Seems to me they don't have many employees anyway, and anyone involved over there probably has a claim in the 'company' so they would not want to have something like this happen publicly.

The hacker stole my money, and I'm not getting it back. At current value it's about 20k dollars, so it does hurt. But btc-e has made it clear that they are not going to do anything about it, and that they don't appreciate my continued pursuit of the matter...

Therefore there is nothing I can do, and I am moving on.

THAT is why you shouldn't use an exchange, esp with that sort of volume, when you dont know a single thing about the owner, not even his name.  People here demand escrow for a $20 item, and SCREAM scammer if anyone hesitates, but look at all these people blindly throwing money at btc-e.  Im not trying to make you feel worse here, and it sucks that this happened to you.  All of you should know if you use this exchange, and your money disappears, there will be nothing that you can do. You will end up just like this guy.
