BTW, start at block number 6997 and begin scanning forward on the clean water coin blockchain...

http://explorer.cleanwatercoin.org/block/00000000109dad4ab3901a034cbbb6c05b984f17e33fff9fe3776482201119b2

From block 7000 to 8200ish an "accident" occurs. the dev's didn't try to fix that accident and now it stands as the world's worst coin.

I see.... suddenly a very large amount of coins is generated.  Tongue

Maybe some big cat is playing with this "mouse".

Or is someone cheating..

hm, maybe they reserve the last word to decide if a coin is even worthy of listing.
I understand that.

But it's a little nasty of them to make all the people believe that they can vote (or even pay BTC for votes) and have their coin listed.

I'm just glad I'm not in that market right now.

I buy a few darkcoins every day.

This way I cost average into a nice position over time, without having this constant fear of buying at the wrong price.

In average I have a good price when I buy small portions every day.
2804  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | ASIC Resistant on: May 13, 2014, 04:03:52 PM

I for one think DRK is the perfect currency for the legal retail marijuana industry here in Colorado.

Good idea
http://potcoin.info/ is trying to lead that market at the moment. They aren't anon though Tongue

Yes potcoin isn't anon enough, and also all they have is a name they think will appeal to a specific market segment.
But I never understood why a coin wants to appeal to only one specific kind of business or profession?

Do we really need a bakercoin, or a butchercoin? A coin for every country? A coin for nerds, a coin for bullies?

Isn't the definition of a good money that it can be used for ALL KINDS of things, all kinds of businesses, people, countries, legal & illegal things, etc?

A good money promotes its qualities, like for example that it can go "dark" like darkcoin.
A good money doesn't try to appeal to a market segment. That's completely backwards.

just to check if mintpal live up to their word...
today monday evening they should add CleanWaterCoin to their list of traded currencies, since it is the number one voted coin at the moment.
So I will be watching closely.

Not that I care about CleanWaterCoin (?) lol, ...

And then suddenly everything works again.

Smoooooth.

Our redis server had network issues that took a few hours for the provider to resolve.

East pool was still working OK since it's got a slave redis DB on it.  But West and EU, as well as the website, were down due to the dependency.

I need to work out a method to have our stratum instances failover to a second redis db if the first one isn't working..  But from everything I've read so far, doing this is non-trivial.

Thanks for your good work.
Most problems seem to be trivial and go away after a while.
I am used to look at my stats on an hourly basis, that's why even the slightest disruption is percieved as a catastrophy.  Grin

I think most of the devs give access to their Github files...but to be very sure, you are best to ask them on those links. I am not a dev, just a noisy devcoiner  Wink

Yes, that has become the status quo, these days.

Alright, make some melodic noise, melodiem.

Or did you mean to say "just a nosy devcoiner"?  Wink

Thanks for your help.

If you want it to be funded by devcoin, it does need to be open source to be eligable for the shares list but there is no reason for you not to accept devcoin as payment from users or you can apply for marketing/advertising shares if you use devcoin banners on your site.

The official devcoin thread might be best place to bring it up: http://coinzen.org/index.php/topic,147.0.html ...or the bounty thread: http://coinzen.org/index.php/topic,150.0.html

Ok, so for a website with html/javascript/php/mysql I would have to provide all the sourcecode for all programming languages, and possibly even an instuction how to set the database/server up, etc?

2810  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DVC]DevCoin - Official Thread - Moderated on: May 12, 2014, 09:41:20 PM
Thanks, I hope it takes off.. it really will be nice to see it work out. I would like it to bring some positive light into devcoin... instead of selling my coins I do these types of things to help it so I can benefit from increased value... that is the typical developer approach. I only wished there were more developers who saw similar views and came to similar conclusions because I see it is a great opportunity to get into crypto and devcoin in particular at these early stages.

I too have some projects in the making, but I am not sure if I can apply for devcoins with them.

For example, I am working on a coinmarketcap site, but with more information and email-alert service (e.g. when pricelevel is reached, etc)...

If I want to get devcoin for such a site, so I can continue develop it, can I just apply for this at devtome? And what other rules do I have to follow?

Does it have to be complete open source? What if I don't want to go completely open source for security reasons?
2811  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DVC]DevCoin - Official Thread - Moderated on: May 12, 2014, 08:45:51 PM
Not necessarily, for one if you are bidding on a devcoin funded auction, then btc/ltc is certainly welcome as it will be used to directly purchase devcoins on the market bidding up the price (think of the middlepool idea just applied in a different way).

Secondly, I am personally opening up business by investing my own resources.. so not only is this site going to offer devcoin auctions, but auctions I will be providing for btc/ltc... this opens doors to many more auction items as I don't have to wait for devcoins to be exchanged for bitcoins to buy items to auction off anymore... especially with thelow liquidity this means there would only be 1 or 2 auctions a month. Now I can offer the devcoin funded auctions (1 or 2 a month) and my own auctions which I accept bitcoin/litcoin bids only to add value to the site. For example look at the 5.4th miner. http://devcoinauctions.com/blog/auction/sp30-yukon-august-batch-asic-miner-5-4ths/ there is no way that this would be possible if it were only devcoins used here. This vendor only accepts bitcoin, so I need to work in bitcoin... I have worked out a special deal with this vendor for this miner, but it is limited time only and if noone bids on it I will probably not relist it after next month.

For this reason for these types of auctions (most of them right now) I only accept bids from people who bought packages with bitcoins or litecoins and not devcoins for obvious economical reasons. Later when there is more liqudity then devcoins will become the predominant form of payment as it will be desired.

The auctions funded by devcoins will remain accepting devcoins/bitcoins/litecoins and any btc/ltc used to bid here will be converted to dvc and put into the community fund.

I see. Yes, I saw the 5.4 THash miner yesterday and I loled, and wondered how this is even possible.

Well, I admire the work you have done.

It's an interesting concept... le't see where this goes...

There are a lot of people who have been dumping their coins as soon as they get them. Many writers aren't here to help the project grow and get better; they are here solely to cash out ASAP as they go along.

But that's really not very wise of them.

Well, at least they provide some liquidity to the markets by doing so.

And it's a good opportunity to acquire devcoins on the cheap. I've placed some low buy orders and am happy to reap the fruits of their labor.

+1

I will start selling DVC when 1 DVC is in the 1000 satoshi range.

Devcoin Auctions are the first real community inspired business that actively seeks devcoins, and create inputs to the devcoin price (http://devcoinauctions.com). There are many more to come.

Yes, but shouldn't devcoin auctions be devcoin only ?

That BTC and LTC are also allowed to purchase bids, doesn't really help devcoin, does it?

If it was devcoin only, then everybody would have to go to the exchanges and buy devcoin.

It's not really reassuring to say that all recieved BTC and LTC will be used to purchase devcoins. How do I know? Why trust anybody?

Why not circumvent BTC and LTC totally and go for devcoin only?

Then it would deserve the name devcoinauctions. Now not so much.
2815  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DVC]DevCoin - Official Thread - Moderated on: May 12, 2014, 04:27:23 PM
can't believe devcoin fell back to these levels. one question to the devs: merged mining with btc is going to stay here forever?

Forever is a most uncertain thing. Who knows. I mergemine IXC, DVC and NMC, and it's just peanuts but nonetheless welcomed.
It's not up to the devs to decide if merge mining stays... it's up to the pool admins.

But I would like to know who is selling all those DVC?
I assume that all the devtome writers are the last person to sell their 90% Devcoin at these prices.

So it must mainly be big holders of DVC who gave up on the coin and want to get rid of it as fast as possible.

I say this is a good opportunity to buy DVC...

Devcoin is not going away...
2816  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DVC]DevCoin - Official Thread - Moderated on: May 12, 2014, 01:22:20 AM
I think the things you brought up are separate projects from Devtome. The hard part is how you reward for things like the art and music. How are they evaluated? How do you determine what one is worth compared to the others? Devtome brings in advertising revenue, which gives a direct valuation to content. The others don't do that.

Don't do that yet. Why shouldn't "they" be able to do that.

Well, how do you determine what a devtome text is worth compared to others? It's not a very brilliant solution there too.  Wordcount is not a measure of quality. We would need some kind of voting system, etc etc.

But that's why I love devcoin so much.

It has opened an infinite amount of possibilites with no real solutions YET.

But this might change. That's the main reason I buy devcoin.

I like what this coin / community wants to be... I don't care that they have not yet achieved their goal.
2817  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DVC]DevCoin - Official Thread - Moderated on: May 12, 2014, 01:16:48 AM
We need people to promote the auction site as it is functional now. This way if bitcoins or litecoins are used to bid on devcoin funded auctions then it will directly be used to buy devcoins at market and put into the devcoin community fund. Imagine once we have say 10 btc a d ay being used to bid on devcoin auctions, then that 10 btc will be used to buy devcoins and slowly create speculative demand aswell as people front-run the buying. Now imagine if there are 4 or 5 businesses similar to my devcoinauctions.com, then demand has nowhere to go but up.. it is forced to rise.

I am reading the "how to" as we speak: http://devcoinauctions.com/how-it-works-2/

I have to let this sink in a little...
2818  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DVC]DevCoin - Official Thread - Moderated on: May 12, 2014, 01:11:40 AM
The issue is there still has to be value in Devcoin. If everyone is earning coins (180m a month) and nobody is buying, it doesn't matter if you have 10k or 10 trillion of them: they are worthless.

We need to find ways to get money in to the system. It's a lot like Bitcoin and what its problems were/are; people have to add money or the value goes down until it has none anymore.

Yes, but value in devcoin doesn't necessarily mean the value of the currency, but the value of all the stuff that is created by the developpers/artists.
(Ofcourse the latter will be reflected in the pricelevel of the first... but without the latter, the first one will not go anywhere.)

It's much like the problem wikipedia faces... they regularly ask for donations to keep everything running. They need to do this, and people gladly donate enough, because wikipedias content is very useful.

I think the value of devcoin will rise once we have a much better structure in our websites, so that artists, musicians, coders, writers, etc can find EXACTLY what they are looking for, and will therefor be thankful and possibly pay. I think the structure of devcoin content is still a mess, and missleading (where is the music, drawings, 3d art?)

It's great that devcoin exists... because it's unique and although we can't really say that it works well at the moment, we all have an expectation that some kind of true innovation for devcoin is around the corner.

We'll see.

Until then, I would love to see more integration of musicians, 3d designers etc...

10 more votes will move us to 20th Wink

Very good melodiem. Soon we reach the goal.

Meanwhile I buy some more DVC. :-)

Why demand devcoin over bitcoin?

Yes, but with devcoin:

You don't have to go thru the process of the free market to find someone who likes your work well enough to be willing to pay you in bitcoin.

So, you are free to just do what you like, free your mind, and just do the art... post it online... follow the devcoin rules, and voila, devcoins arrive in your wallet.
