301  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v9.1 on: December 11, 2016, 04:50:00 PM
What about make V10 claymore miner that only work on Claymore Pool and/or few trusted pool. Make the pool charge 3% and claymore get 2% of it. Walla!!!
Then you will have a distribution of the network problem.

With ZEC and ETH plummeting, XMR is about to become more profitable than both of them.

@Claymore, can you please update this miner?

What? Are you in a hurry to be forced to use SSL or something?
303  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v9.1 on: December 11, 2016, 03:07:19 PM
I have been selling various software for 15 years in different ways so I have some experience. Unfortunately, open source does not work.

So SSL introduction was not about security of the miners?

 LOL!  You're kidding, right?
304  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: December 11, 2016, 02:46:04 PM
That won't help. I think the original blockchain got corrupt a wee bit. Best to delete it, and let it resync. It's a lot faster nowadays (assuming you don't have a slow HDD).

I agree.  This is what I just did, but it took over 3 days for me.  Just ignore all the warnings, walk away, come back much, much later and it will be fine.
305  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v9.0 on: December 08, 2016, 05:08:15 PM
Interesting problem that has shown up in 3 of my 280x rigs with 4 GPUs each:  Out of 8 rigs, 3 of them have had the first GPU (as displayed by Claymore's Ethereum Dual Miner Manager 2.5), actually GPU 2, go up to about 325 Sol/s with errors in red.  This did not happen until about 22-24 hours after release of the V. 9.0 beta.  Restarting the miner software results in 0.00, obviously.  Using Device manager disable/enable resets it and it works again.  Any idea what is happening?

I set these rigs to run cool with undervolt to 1125, 1000/1500, i 4.

Anybody else experience this?
306  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v8.0 on: November 26, 2016, 09:12:31 PM
After the v8, both of my r9 280x have died. Be carefull.

I don't really believe in coincidences... But I'm not sure. Maybe usage went up, and so did temps? Maybe they got hot enough to melt the solder, or something like that. I have a pretty aggressive fan curve on afterburner, even though my cards stay fairly cool. Around 75% fan at all times, or more if temps go anywhere over 80C.
I had same problem, it is thermopaste problem, i changed it and the problem was gone. temp went about 20C down.

Yeah, I've had that problem before, too.  I replaced some fans via ebay purchase for some 280x's and it shipped with some white thermopaste.  Tried it out.  It was total crap!  Replaced it with some Tuniq TX-2, wow, what a difference!  Never use the white crap from china, never.
307  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU Rig PORN on: November 26, 2016, 04:04:17 PM
The cards are a bit too close for my taste and there's a lot of vertical space wasted but it does look good.

I agree.  I did an experiment about 3 years ago and found that the optimal distance between GPUs was 2.5x the width of the GPU.  The cards were all dual fan 7970s and 280xs.  It may be different with your cards.  However, I can suspect that supplemental cross-cooling will be needed more than the picture displays.

Yeah, all my MBs are Asrock this is how they ID the GPUs:

This is not North Korea. This is a free democratic forum. Maybe you should ban Grin.

Does anyone know a way to make Claymore's Dual Miner Manager remotely manage this CPU miner?

Using the same concepts applied in this thread I modded a 380 ROM in an XFX 380 DD, using Claymore 7.0 at stock 1040/1500 it is now getting 120 Sol/s.  Not a huge improvement, but about 4-5%.

Very Important! Notice the "02" in front of the 99 91 and 77 71 in the example above.  Make very sure that the ROM you are modifying has the "02" before changing with the quoted above.  If you have Elpida memory for GigaByte 280x or possibly even HD 7970 it will report as Elpida with Tahiti Identifier application BUT the actual ROM will have "00" instead of "02" which normally indicates Elpida memory.  If you manually modify your original ROM with the above example in that case you WILL BRICK the card.  Ask me how I know.  Fortunately these cards have switches for alternate BIOSES. whew.

One more thing, check each line of your original code carefully.  In all of my GigaByte 280xs there is a line of code left un-modified as follows:

Code:
1C1902007771332000000000EF516A348055091132264A04006AE40022AA1C006C021420CA8900A8020007C01510202535273311

it was between the straps 48E80100 and F0490200

That means my modded code for Gigabyte R9 280x Elpida is:
Code:
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

Here's an original ROM from a Sapphire HD 7970 3G OC w boost, Hynix AFR:

https://filetea.me/t1sPYG8i8RVRfue3wnGq2XLXg

I modded this ROM as described with all of the code from the OP's first post.  It was very unstable with 1500 mem.  Would only run for about 1-2 minutes.  But if memory clock was at 1375-1450 it gave varied results from 96 sol/s to 107 sol/s with core clock at 950.

The intensity value had to be 0.

I also tried using VBE to undervolt to 1100 from 1175 with no noticeable difference or improvement in stability.

I gave up and returned to TheStilt mod ROM where it gets about 92-97 sol/s.

If someone has any insight on how to make this more stable, please advise.

adaseb,

This is the existing modified ROM from a Sapphire Dual-X HD 7970 3G OC with boost GPU, Hynix AFR memory,

I have attempted to follow the Russian video and I get this far:

After finding all five of the 77 71 hex incidences I copy the strings between them, and immediately after the last one to give me:

Code:

I note that the last three strings are identical as this is a modded ROM already.  Which of these strings would you change, and why?

Please help,
Thanks

With the Claymore V5, you should get very close to 120Sol/s however you will need the clocks to run at 1050-1100 for engine core and around 1550-1600mhz for memory clock. Most GPUs have stability problems at those clocks however. Elpida are much worse then Hynix.

adaseb, please look at and comment on my posts above.  Which strap would you change or move and why?
5 straps starting at 1250 -> 1750
