301  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CRAVE: Revival on: October 10, 2017, 07:05:22 PM
What was the reason of this maintanence? Is Cryptopia staking user funds? This is a little bit concerning.

A wallet update to the latest version released by CooleRRSA at end of Sept.  Why the old wallet wasn't in place during this time is unknown, BUT it's back now so YAY  Grin

Wallets up to 2.1 are still functioning without the soft updates right? I cannot compile the new versions on Ubuntu so I had to stay with the old version, if you do release a mandatory update please keep Linux version in mind.

As far as i know yes, i have also some masternodes with older versions running.

CooleRRSA usually writes in the release comments if the upgrade is mandatory: https://github.com/CooleRRSA/crave/releases

Tested and the old 2.1 version still works.

Exchange is so not really looking good.
Thanks for the opinion. It's correct https://heatwallet.com isn't optimized for conversions at all, but your comment is the first stating the 2.0 is looking visually less than good. Tastes differ I guess.

Wallet design is good, it screams more for the younger generation which is where the technology will find a home.

Only issue is that the wallet does not resize properly when resizing the window in Windows 8.

Is there a way to check for masternode status? The built in list is not always correct.
305  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: October 09, 2017, 05:48:42 PM
OMG these idiots dumping the best blockchain in the whole cryptoworld!
It's the same thing like last year ...and again in some months they will all come back and cry like little babies!

First of all, dumps are made by market makers/manipulators. Some panic sellers join this party as a losers (so called "Gamboni Play"). 90-95% of all traders must lose something, to give their capital to the winners. Laws of jungle:) The more exchanges, the less manipulations on price (but manipulators exists always, despite of number of exchanges, but for price it's not so painful, dumps looks like health corrections). That's also explain, why in case of XEM we have so thin market with only few exchanges. The main purpose is, that it will serves good for manipulators. Who are this persons? I dont know, so i dont even try to write here their names. But i have some suspicions and of course hold these for myself.

The "best blockchain" marketers, and whole NEM Foundation should seek fast resolve for this problem, in other case... I dont even want to imagine that or write it here, what will be in other case. All i know is that many people avoid investing their money in so fishy situation. Moves of price in case of XEM are for now only in cathegory "Pump&Dump", and not health growth.  And of course postponed Catapult (in May Lon Wong has mentioned about Summer) gave to market some uncertainty about that matter. Now we have December as a Catapult release time, but who knows, every delay makes less confidence among market players. They move to many other promising projects, even with not so "cosmically best blockchain technology" but with much better marketing.

edit// and "support" 4700-4800sat broken, as expected (by me;))

If all you're seeing is investment and P&D schemes, you are looking at this whole community/tech the wrong way.

Cryptocurrency is much more than just simple trading games, it goes much more beyond that but it will not be so obvious until the strongest coins chosen by the market become mainstream.

Do not worry about price of short term gains and look at the long term benefits of such technology. If all goes well, this tech will change the world hopefully for the best.

I respect Your opinion. But for now my point of view about Cryptoworld stays unchanged. It's a jungle, where the stronger eats the weaker. And afterall this is not the place nor time for academic discussion about that;)

This space is made for every type of discussion, academic discussion does not need a time or place. Just 2 minds who can debate rationally.

But I see what you are saying, have fun trading and collecting profits. Many are taking advantage. This opportunity won't be forever so I can understand where you are coming from.
306  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FoldingCoin - MINE FOR MEDICINE- PHASE 2.0 on: October 09, 2017, 02:23:49 AM
How much resources would the folding use if I run the Linux version?
As much as you allocate for him. Use cgroups (https://www.mjmwired.net/kernel/Documentation/cgroups.txt), and see official documentation: http://folding.stanford.edu/support/faq/installation-guides/linux/command-line-options/

Strange question from linux user...

I'm running multiple wallets staking other coins and I was wondering because I am not running a full PC, I was just too lazy to look into it.

Thanks for the info, I'd figure I could just allocate more resources. RAM is the concern here but could always do a swap space.

hi dev, i just downloaded new pivx wallet 3.0.0 for mac, that has just been released.

at first, it opened fine.
but then i restarted my computer, and tried to open it again, the wallet always gives me warning : it quits unexpectedly.

now i can't even open the application on my macbook, since it always quits unexpectedly.

please help.

Check your anti-virus/malware remover.

Some files are unsigned so your anti-virus might be deleting the installation.

Either add an exception in the anti-virus for PIVx or simply disable it while loading the wallet.

How does the Pivx team answer the issue of quantum resistance?

Quantum computing is not even a reality yet, any project that states is quantum resistant is selling you air. It's not even possible to be known at the moment.

PIVx, as you can tell, thrives on being realistic.

All gstakte since July are gone. Change now times from Mac to windows, may be the error in the MAC Wallet

let it finish syncing with wallet locked

Everyone beware of LovelyMonday, he was given 24 hours to send over the Phore I was promised after I sent him the BTC.

Never did and does not respond to PMs. Negative trust has been given.

I have installed the wallet on Ubuntu but it doesn't give me an option to unlock the wallet and stake, can POTcoin be staked in Linux?

I do not run a potwallet myself but, you certainly should be able to on any operating system you get the software functioning on.

If pot does not give you an easier option to unlock, you should be able to via the file menu (File > Unlock).

If that option does not exist either, you certainly should be able to via a RPC command from the debug console. The debug console can be found in the help menu of the menu bar (Help > Debug console. Then 'Debug' tab). Enter 'walletpassphrase P0TpAsswOrdHere 9999' into the debug console. The '9999' is a timer in minutes to remain unlocked.

I hope this info helps! Best of luck!

The problem is the "File Edit View Help" menu doesn't even show up.

I figure out a way around it by just sending myself some coins to unlock the wallet.

No one trade for Phore with "LovelyMonday", I sent over some BTC and he has yet to send me over the phore.

He claimed he did but has not responded to my PMs or provided a transaction receipt.

I will add a negative trust rating if LovelyMonday does not respond in 24 hours.

Each company wants $$$$ to get going and the only way to get it is sell the NEM you raise

The XEM market is way, way too weedy to cope with a wave of ICOs, but of course ICOs drive volume too. It depends though. If there are varying currencies involved there's no reason for anyone to choose XEM over a more liquid one so it'll be squashed flat over and over again.

COMSA concept might be a bad idea for NEM in the long run for the reasons already stated.

It might hurt NEMs credibility if too many ICOs start popping up with empty promises.

Then it could be a really good thing, all to do is just wait and see what happens.

Just to let you know, craved does not compile with the latest libssl-dev version 1.1.0f-3, which is default on Debian 9.x.
I added jessie repository to sources.list, and installed version 1.0.1t-1+deb8u6.

Compiled without problems afterwards.

Yes, I experienced it with the latest libssl. Happens also with the latest Raspbian, need to use Raspbian Jessie.

I just added the jessie repo and installed that specific version.
apt-get update

apt-get install <package name>=<version>

to check which versions are available
apt-cache showpkg <package name>
Will this work with Ubuntu 16.04.3? I'm having similar issues with libssl missing for compiling.
