The Houston Rockets seem to think they’re going to be able to get James Harden on their roster for next year, but have come out to say that in the event they are unable to get Harden, they will be pursuing Kyrie Irving. Not sure Kyrie has any interest in playing there, but I suspect after his antics the last few years he won’t have as many options as he thinks.
3022  Other / Off-topic / Re: YOUTUBE VS TIKTOK on: June 11, 2023, 02:19:58 PM
I’ve never used TikTok and quite frankly it always seemed very stupid to me. My generation thought it was embarrassing to be caught dancing dumb on video, so the whole thing is beyond me. Seems like a way for pedos to watch little kids dance if you ask me. Add in that it’s a spy tool for China and TikTok might be the worst app ever created in my opinion. Definitely nowhere near YouTube.
3023  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Lost 2.03 BTC via bitcoinpaperwallet.com Am I wasting my time trying to recover? on: June 11, 2023, 02:18:09 PM
Three years ago I made a paper wallet using an online generator and my public key is 1MXb3vY5sCC2rB2bD2rusQjxEyYUDEKcHT. I stored my private keys locked in a Keepass password manager (with a very long and strong password) and made sure it's different than my primary general Bitwarden password generator. I just checked my balance 2 days ago and realized it's all missing since 11/25/2022. Any advice how to get my money back?  I feel like reporting or even trying to sue Sarkis Sarkissian (new owner of the bitcoinpaperwallet) would cost me even more headaches and waste of time since not guaranteed that I will get my money back. Do you happen to know any success stories or any recommendations on what I should do?

Thanks in advance.

It will do no good to report the owner of the service.  The problem is that you have relied on an online private key generator and this is already a wrong practice, there are many other ways to generate a secure entropy seed, for example you could do it with dice.  Also you kept the key on keepass which recently found a vulnerabilty bug.

https://www.darkreading.com/application-security/keepass-vulnerability-imperils-master-passwords

Reporting likely won’t result in any action or recovery of funds, but at least it’s something. Who know, maybe it will get Google to stop directing people to the site.

It is unfortunate that people can get into Bitcoin and then experience a scam like this when just trying to easily store their funds. The thought was in the right place taking custody of his coins, but lack of knowledge in the space can be devastating.
3024  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Investing doesn't guarantee you to be rich on: June 11, 2023, 02:14:24 PM
While nothing is promised in life and especially when it comes to money and investments, if there were a single piece of advice I could give to someone young who wanted to be rich, it would be to invest. Sure, staying healthy and getting educated will definitely help you as well, but in all honesty, nothing will impact your financial life more than investing early in a diversified index fund like the S&P500.
3025  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 11, 2023, 02:09:44 PM
Bitcoin is holding up pretty well in comparison to the altcoin market. Even altcoin darlings like MATIC are getting hammered hard. Bitcoin and Ethereum seem to be the safe havens the market is running to, but even they have seen declines. As I’ve said before, I think the current price represents an attractive risk/reward scenario for investors.
3026  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoins dead? on: June 11, 2023, 02:07:57 PM
I’m not sure if I’d say altcoins are dead, as I doubt that will ever be the case. However, it is clear they are under attack by the United States government which is never a good thing. Values are crashing harder than I can remember in recent memory. It’s a bloodbath and it appears to be directly related to government action against exchanges.
3027  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 10, 2023, 06:09:42 PM
Feels like although there are still plenty of market risks ahead like mtgox, government auctions, more regulatory battles, investors have priced that in and are filling their bags in preparation of the run up to the halving. I’d feel pretty good about scooping some up at this time and at these levels. I think you’re facing a potential 20% risk while having a very large upside.
3028  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: June 10, 2023, 06:06:53 PM
Nuggets is the team that have the best offense and best defense in the league. They don't only rely on Jokić, that's the best part. When Heat defend Murray and Jokić with 3 players, the others punish the defensive mistake. Aaron Gordon played his career game, Bruce Brown scored when all eyes on Murray and Jokić, KCP made two critical defense back to back and these all made the difference. Nuggets will finish this series at home, that's clear. And it's not Heat's fault, they faced against the best team in the NBA.

I’m not sure I’d give the Nuggets the title of the best defensive team, but they’re top 10 for sure. I think it’s their unorthodox offensive thanks to Jokic and unusually large athletic wings that set them apart. Having Jamal Murray as a scorer isn’t bad either. I think they’ll be the NBA champions this year and it’s highly likely that will happen on Monday.
3029  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: June 10, 2023, 02:33:51 AM
3 quarters down and it’s not looking good for the Miami Heat. Unless they get some sort of miracle in the fourth quarter it looks like they’re in an impossible situation to win this year’s Finals. I am expecting to see them really pour some effort into this quarter and trying to make a comeback. If they give up and get blown out here for the next 12 minutes then this series is as good as over.
3030  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: June 09, 2023, 12:38:42 PM
We’ve reached that point where the NBA Finals could more or less be decided tonight. If Denver wins, they’re up 3-1 and in a position that only 1 team has ever managed to lose. With no LeBron in the Finals this year I think it’s safe to say that Miami has their back against the wall in a must win position tonight. I’m want them to lose, but wouldn’t mind seeing them extend the series a bit more.
3031  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: June 08, 2023, 10:33:55 PM
So many trade scenarios being tossed around all the sudden. Usually this would wait until after the Finals. I guess without a major superstar in this year’s Finals people are going a little crazy. I’m reading that DeAndre Ayton is as good as gone out of Phoenix and they’re trying to get Damian Lillard or Draymond Green and Jordan Poole in return. Phoenix sounds like they’ll be the first team making big moves.
3032  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: June 08, 2023, 08:25:50 PM
Jamal Murray ended the last game with what looks like a nasty blister on his hand from the arena floor. You can see the aftermath today of it here as it starts to heal.

https://twitter.com/thenbacentral/status/1666892204030279680

It looks to be his off hand so maybe it won’t affect him much, but it also looks like it could be pretty painful and might even need to be wrapped for the next game.
3033  Economy / Reputation / Re: MODS. . . When are you removing this negative rating on my profile? on: June 08, 2023, 08:12:00 PM
For what it’s worth, I don’t see your profile as having a -1 but that is because I have DT removed from my trust network due to people like marlboroza who make heavy handed decisions when it comes to leaving negative trust. I much preferred the old days when feedback was positive and accounts were labeled as scammers if they did something wrong. Pretty sure I’ve said before that with the flags system, negative trust is redundant.
3034  Other / Meta / Re: Finally! Satoshi Nak-AI-moto told me why he handed over the forum to Theymos on: June 08, 2023, 02:29:12 PM
The community is tired of this AI stuff, why do users keep pushing it here? Well, I don't see how helpful that AI is, and since it has different sources from which it collects information, it's easy to get wrong information from those sources, and someone can still add inaccurate information to it. But based on Bitcoiners common knowledge on the forum, who would not know that Satoshi gave out the forum to theymos just to remain anonymous, so that Bitcoin would remain decentralized. If I should ask now, is there any new information from that AI that cannot be gotten from this forum if a question is raised about it?

If you are already tired of AI then you are in for a really rough future. There will likely come a point when AI users will surpass real humans on the internet. You won’t be able to tell the difference and they will likely all be programmed with agendas to scam you or collect information from you, etc. Reputation and being able to prove who you are digitally will become more and more important… You won’t be able to keep AI quiet.

Your projects are fairly well known on the forum and particularly in the collectibles board,
When is the next one? 15 years forum anniversary?

I don’t know to be honest. I have ideas but there are things holding me back that I don’t feel the need to highlight. However, given that I have negative trust from the default trust network, it doesn’t seem appropriate for me to continue launching new products and services here anyway. I want my work to be appreciated, not attacked. That’s one of the reasons why for the last 5 years I have been focusing a majority of my efforts elsewhere, like almost all the other talent that once graced this forum.
3036  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: June 08, 2023, 02:13:24 PM
That Jokic game was even more impressive than I thought. The numbers were crazy, ya, but I didn’t realize this was the first 30/20/10 game in NBA Finals history. To do it against a defensive specialist like Bam too… Crazy. Jokic is really showing that he should have won the MVP. I hate that the voters always give guys the MVP before they deserve it and then snub them later when they do deserve it because they already got one (or two).
3037  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: June 08, 2023, 05:44:26 AM
The Nuggets made good adjustments in the game, utilizing their size advantage as they continue to struggle with their 3-point shooting. With a significant rebounding disparity, the Heat couldn't win the game if they were also struggling with their outside shots. We can expect the Miami Heat to make adjustments in Game 4 and strive to even the series once again. It was a great game by the Nuggets, and they deserved that big win without any excuses.
Q1 and Q2 are still pretty evenly matched, however, this time there was nowhere to give Miami a chance to improve, and again Jokic was outstanding and Murray too and the coolest thing was Christian Braun 19 minutes played with 4 R 1 A and 15 P, so for game four I don't think there will be any surprises Miami can do, and game five will be the decisive match for Denver and the score will be 5-1.

Jokic is insane. It doesn’t make sense to me how someone so slow with a 5 inch vertical is able to take over in the NBA Finals. It defies logic. His numbers tonight though we’re epic. A total of 63 points + rebounds + assists in the Finals is a performance he will be talking about for a long time. The Heat are definitely in trouble. Denver looks dialed in.

Anyone see this news?

Quote
The Phoenix Suns plan to waive veteran guard Chris Paul, according to a report from Bleacher Report/TNT’s Chris Haynes.

Shams Charania of The Athletic reports that a trade could also be on the table, along with potentially waving and re-signing the 12-time All-Star this offseason.

https://www.nba.com/news/chris-paul-free-agency-phoenix-suns

Ok, so after the firing of their coach, it seems the new owner is making a big chances on the player side as they waived CP3 already and obviously, wanted to clear some space so that they can get a new player. And if they trade him, might be interesting which team and what will be the trading package. Who knows, maybe he can play with Lebron? What's your thoughts?

100%.  I don't know what lebrons future us but he has always wanted a true point guard and one with cp3s caliber.  Would be good for LeBron so he doesn't have to be the point forward anymore either to save on his wear and tear.  I can see cp3 in a Lakers uniform on a vet minimum contract.  At this point he knows his window is all but closed it cant be about money at this point.

I was just reading about this and I’m a bit surprised. Not that the Suns are getting rid of Chris Paul, he’s far from what he used to be and a terrible mentor because he’s a poor sport, but that they’re dumping him for nothing instead of a sign and trade. That basically means they couldn’t find anyone willing to offer anything for him. That surprises me a little. He’s free to play with Bron now though.
3039  Economy / Economics / Re: 3x inflation in my life time (Im 30) does bitcoin fix this? on: June 07, 2023, 07:12:03 PM
Bitcoin doesn’t fix inflation. It is supposed to function as a means of opting out of the inflationary fiat system. Maybe one day in the distant future if it were used in every aspect of an economy and functions properly without incentives like the block rewards it could possibly help, but population growth and managing currency values is a tricky tightrope to walk.
3040  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bankroll management discussion on: June 07, 2023, 07:09:35 PM
I don’t worry about percentages when gambling. I just bet whatever I feel like at the time. I’m not exactly trying to grow a bankroll though. I figure once money hits the casino it’s gone. If you ever manage to see any of it again after playing then that’s a bonus. I couldn’t imagine trying to grow a bankroll like it was an investment account. Seems like a losing battle.
