3061  Other / Politics & Society / Re: ^^^ You just haven't gone far enough. on: June 23, 2021, 02:46:37 PM

Some people just can't take looking at the truth. So, they delete it. Some joker couldn't take this on his/her thread, so he deleted it. Too close to the truth, I guess.

It is in human nature to look for validation and support of our ideas. I don't really know why, but we try to find people who think like us. And if we face too much confrontation we get into a defensive mode. Deleting a thread is probably just because he doesn't want to be reminded that so many other people have the opposite opinion and might make fun of him for it. Having freedom of speech also means that we will have a lot of different opinions and need to argue from time to time to find a middle way.

3063  Other / Off-topic / Re: YOUR BIGGEST ENEMY on: June 23, 2021, 01:42:16 PM
You've probably heard that your biggest enemy is YOU.  That's quite true in so many levels.we all have big dreams. Really huge ones that we want to see come through. But you know what's funny? Many people just sit around and do nothing about it. They expect life to bring their dreams into reality and they don't want to do anything about it. I'LL do it later becomes their watchword.
Am I Lazy? Hell No. In fact,am hardworking well above average. But the real enemy was procrastination or putting off or delaying, especially something requiring immediate attention.. you're doing something else that you probably shouldn't be doing because it's more fun and requires just a little effort. There is something you should know about time, once it's gone you can never bring it back, Instead of procrastinating, Start now! Take your first step towards that your goal you have always wanted to achieve.

You are right. The biggest enemy for me is definitely my own ego. Between me and my goals are some hurdles, the biggest one being my own mind. I wish I could just change my bad habits overnight. Procrastination is the biggest killer of my dreams. Its just so hard to change abs reinvent ourselves.
3064  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Are you worried about the delta virus variant? on: June 23, 2021, 01:18:13 PM
It is reported to be up to 60% more transmissible. I'm OK, and I'm not taking any precautions, as I haven't been vaccinated, so I still have all my natural immunity.

I hope you don't have any older family members around you that you could infect. My biggest fear is that I get the virus, don't have symptoms and then infect my 90 year old grandmother. I got the first shot of vaccination in May, but it seems that one dose is not enough to protect us from the delta variant. I will be more cautious until I get the second injection in 4 weeks.
3065  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA EURO 2020 Discussion Thread | Current Phase: Finals in June 2021! on: June 23, 2021, 01:15:01 PM
Portugal Vs France
This match will definitely be an interesting one to watch, both countries are really good and have star players. Although, Portugal lost their match to Germany. France is topping the Group table with 4 points, while Portugal have 3 points. The match will be a tough one.

I really hope to see an amazing game tonight. Due to Portugal's defeat to Germany on Saturday, they now need to win more points. Although the French are through, they'll probably want to bring back the winning momentum after the disappointing result against Hungary. I expect a more energetic French team, and to see Benzema score his first EURO goal.
Anyway, I think we'll see one interesting match. My money is on France.

Both games tonight will be very interesting. I think Portugal, Hungary and Germany all need to win, to be safe for the next round. A lot of pressure on the teams because they play at exactly the same time. So you can't rely on the other teams to lose. To me it seems unlikely that there will ce a draw, all of them are going for goals. My last minute bets for tonight are France and Germany winning.
3066  Other / Off-topic / Re: World falling apart? on: June 23, 2021, 01:10:21 PM
Anyone else follow world events closely? It seems like there is more and more disasters, mostly manmade, by the day. Along with the threats of war, plagues, and general environmental decline.
I'm not trying to post one of those 'the sky is falling' threads, but if you look closely there's a lot of negative events coming at us from many different angles.

Things seem to be falling apart, and I think it has been building up to this for quite some time.

It seems that more bad things are happening nowadays then 20 or 50 years ago. It is my subjective feelings and try might be skewed. We also need to look at how the world changed in the last 50 years. Humanity became so much more connected thanks to the Internet and smart phones. Within hours we can inform now the whole world that something bad is happening, while in the past this took weeks.
3067  Other / Off-topic / Re: Love and money on: June 22, 2021, 05:39:35 PM
They will always say love is a beautiful thing to experience when you have good soul mate. It's good to love someone throughly from your heart no hard feelings. But now what if you don't have money to back your love or relationship, How do you feels the lady you love will act towards you because you don't have the financial resourcees to backup your relationship. Some will say it's not all about the money, don am asking you what is love without money because the both works hand in hand. A beautiful lady can't be with a guy who can't take care of her bills when it's needed, gone are those days were ladies love unconditional to a man without looking at his financial status. Know that If u want your relationship to flow in line you need money to backup your love to a lady

I think that if a lady's love depends on you covering her bills, you want to love another lady.  Smiley

Just be yourself and the right lady will come along.

It is hard for men into todays world. One the one side woman want to be independent, so everything should be split 50/50 to be fair. But on the other side woman still demand a men to be a gentlemen and take care of her sometimes. Being able to find the right balance between these two is very hard. This also makes it hard for men to know what a woman really feels for you. Finding true love is hard, so if we ever find our soul partner, we need to make sure to never let her leave.
3068  Other / Politics & Society / Re: I will never buy a Tesla car on: June 22, 2021, 05:24:46 PM
I'm planning to buy a new car this summer. Not very sure of what I'm going to get, but I have no doubt about what I'm not going to get. I'm not going to get a Tesla. Never. Wouldn't even accept a test drive.

Hey, BTC's falling hard this week, and the guy who started the fall is Elon Musk, Tesla's manager. There's just no way I'm going to spend my money with the guy who's destroying my savings.

All bitcoiners should blacklist Tesla cars or any product or service coming from a company owned by Mr.Musk.

Up until this year when Elon Musk killed the Bitcoin, it was my dream to buy a new Tesla one day. I was so hyped when he announced that you could buy a Tesla for 1 BTC. But this hype changed so fast. Now I am not considering to buy a Tesla ever. My next car is definitely going to be an electric car, but it's better to wait a few more years until more car manufacturers will bring out more models.

3070  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you feel happy on getting merits ? on: June 22, 2021, 08:54:55 AM
I login my account and if i see my merit count increase, i quickly move to my merit section to see which of my post was merited and who gave me merit.
It gives a sense of pleasure and happiness on getting merits and for the whole day i remain full of joy.

Do you guys have similar feelings when your post get merited ?

Yeah for me it's the same. My merit count is still fairly low, so as soon as I see I got one new merit I am checking as well and it makes my day. It's kind of hard to get merits on the forum. What I noticed is that it's completely random, sometimes you get 3-4 merits in a month, and sometimes 0. It will take a long time to rank up.
3071  Other / Off-topic / Re: 1 kilo Gold or 2 Bitcoin on: June 22, 2021, 06:54:18 AM
I will go with 2 BTC, i'm sure i'll have to pay the taxes if i want to sell gold and then bitcoins.

It depends on the country, but we likely have to pay taxes on gold and on bitcoins. While a gold bar is nice to look it, the risk of having something like that at home is just too high. I think all of us would go for bitcoins. To be honest I would already happy with 1 BTC, unfortunately with the current high prices it is far away goal for me.
3072  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why can’t you ask for refund if the teacher sucked?? on: June 21, 2021, 11:05:08 AM

You can reimburse for services and goods. But why can’t you file a refund claim for poor teaching?
They tell you if you loss money for attending a investment class, you are supposedly to pay for tuition fee. I say your class suck balls, now I want the refund! You won’t stop organising garbage class when nobody ask for refund, you assume your student are satisfied with your lesson!!

It sounds interesting but is probably very hard to actually proof. How do you know the teacher is bad? Maybe it is just you that doesn't he along with him. Are all the other students also feeling that he is a bad teacher? If so, you have a shot at getting some money back. It's just that you need proof. If you paid money for the course then there should be a syllabus beforehand. Maybe the teacher didn't teach all the things from the syllabus, then you could ask for a partial refund.
3073  Other / Off-topic / Re: Solar Panels, Home fuel cells, etc? on: June 21, 2021, 10:36:45 AM
My parents got their solar panels 10 years ago. It was just a few small planes on the roof. We paid around 8,000 EUR and saved around 25% of the energy cost. The problem we had was that after 5 years more than half of the panels were defect and had to be removed. In the end my parents didn't decide to get new ones. So economic wise this was a really bad investment. Today's solar panels seem to be much more reliable and have higher efficency. It might be much more attractive now.
3074  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How the Government made you fat on: June 21, 2021, 09:23:55 AM
From the area I'm emphasising it's quit true that what causes human fat is not only the food's we eat alone the beginning of fat is confidence and gene, because some set of people don't have much food in their family but every time you see them they will be healthy, so it's caused by the gene which is embedded in blood, while some people indicates through much consumptions of food macromolecules.

Genes and our lifestyle both play a big role in if we are slim or fat. But this is just a base condition, it won't mean that we always have to stay fat or slim. We can change and adapt. Saying that we are fat because of the government or our genes is just an excuse. I can understand that we might not have the money to buy the most healthy products, but we can still do sports. Staying active is very important to lead a healthy life.
3075  Other / Off-topic / Re: What's the painless way to leave this world is? on: June 21, 2021, 09:03:43 AM
I think the most painless way to go is either on your sleep or when you are drugged. This is probably why countries that allow to take your own life rely on a medical cocktail. In Switzerland for example, if you are terminal ill you can take your own life with the help of doctors.
3076  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Edward Snowden: How One Patriotic American Exposed NSA Surveillance on: June 21, 2021, 08:35:46 AM
Good summary of Edward Snowdens work for humanity. He helped us all to keep a little bit of our privacy and be more aware of the risks we face. If you ask me, this was probably just the tip of the iceberg. I would expect any major country to engage in similar spying activities on their own people. The government is supposed to work for the people, not create a surveillance network and control them. I am really afraid that freedom will turn into tyranny over time, like in Georg Orwells book.
3077  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you Smoke? on: June 21, 2021, 08:06:02 AM
What do you think are the long term consequences of smoking Cigg or Weed.

Other than cancer.

Yes I am a smoker for the last 10 years. Since corona I try to stop but it's very hard to just quit smoking. There are many more bad effects from smoking than just cancer, the skin ages much faster, our immune system is weaker and we can get a smoker cough. Tobacco has many bad ingredients.
3078  Other / Off-topic / Re: Habits on: June 19, 2021, 04:47:27 PM
If you know the power of our habits and want to share or discuss about new methods for building better habits post it here

Building new habits is hard for me, because I need to change my daily routines and tend to relapse. Doing something new a few times is fun, but to be consistent and really making sure that it becomes our habit is hard. So far the best method for me is still to write my dream on Post Its and put on the mirror so I see it every morning. A constant reminder seems to be the best to create a new habit. Maybe we could get a new App for our phone just with the sole purpose to help us with our habits, to get rid of the bad and turn them into better ones.
3079  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA EURO 2020 Discussion Thread | Current Phase: Finals in June 2021! on: June 19, 2021, 04:43:14 PM
Wow, Ronaldo is on a roll! Shocked
He scored his last one to take the record of the most in Euros 12th goal for this one.
Germany looked good out of the gate but I think Portugal got on their horse after that disallowed goal from a hand ball by Mueller to deny it.

This game is very intense. To be honest I was a bit scared to bet on this match - it is hard to predict a winner because both teams need a win and goals to make sure to advance. 2-1 for Germany right before the break it is already a lot more goals than in most other matches so far. Usually we saw that the most goals where being scored right before the end of the matches. At this point everything is open. At this point I will probably refrain from betting today and will just wait for tomorrow to pick a decent match for my bet.
3080  Economy / Economics / Re: Why don't banks work with cryptocurrency? on: June 19, 2021, 04:39:28 PM
It is actually not true, a lot of banks are already involved in the crypto market. Volatility is the bread and butter of banks who run trading desks. Traders will go where the money is, so after the recent rally we will see more and more banks to take advantage of the crypto market. Just check out Goldman Sachs for example, they have been trading Bitcoins for a while now and recently expanded into ETH (https://cointelegraph.com/news/goldman-sachs-crypto-trading-desk-expands-to-ether). The more banks will get involved with cryptos, the more products they are going to offer for the consumers.
