3061  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Split the prize or Reroll? on: October 21, 2022, 02:16:20 PM
Let's say you join a give away with other user and both have to select a number between 1 and 10, you go for 7 while he goes for 9. The winning number is 8.

If the prize is 0.1BTC what would you do? Split the prize and walk away with 0.05 or Reroll to gamble for the full prize?
Playing it safe would be better, just split the prize and avoid being too greedy. Or if you're kind enough, give a bigger portion to the other participant which would be lame because both of you played the game. Rerolling might even give you both tendencies of losing and no one to take home the prize, right?

That's not greed. That's FEAR of not receiving any money from what actually is a free giveaway. Which also loses the real purpose of the giveaway in my opinion. It's supposed to be for fun for the community, not for receiving money to take home.

Well, its a wrong use of the term "Greed"  Cheesy

Enterntainment purposes indeed but it would always be better to have something than to gain nothing, in every scenario. If it is an activity wherein all players would enjoy, then that would work, but this is just a 'pick a number' game, there won't be fun from rerolling and such.
3062  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I find way to win on dice on: October 21, 2022, 01:17:44 PM
2 weeks has been passed after the @OP creating this thread, now I wonder how much money has been made by @OP after using this method. I think he already make either million dollars or making few casinos become bankrupt since @OP is always win Shocked

@OP you should login and post the proof about money you made for the past 2 weeks instead of being silent and leave the forum alone.

You can use your method but you must start with a dollar or half dollar at the beginning of the bet so that you don't lose a large capital even if you double bet it repeatedly.
Just start to bet from 1 satoshi and let's see what you got by using this method.

I guess we need to have a further update with OP of course having a strategy proof is the best ideal.

You can wait for his proof that it is not a problem.  But I have been playing dice for a long time and I have a good experience with this game, so I can say that his idea will work somewhat because I have personally used such a method, but I have always used such a method with a small amount of dollars and sometimes use such a method.  I also lost my entire investment while doing so it is not a good method at all
If it is dice game, algorithm is the only way. There would be a pattern but won't be easy to figure out because of probability in combinations. For normal players, it is just a game of luck. If some of you are somehow having patterns or strategies to come up with a win, I guess it won't work most of the time. Only developers of the game would be ble to determine possibilities in dice games because they're the one who made it. It won't be called gambling if patterns are easy to be found out, and ofcourse the house won't allow that.
3063  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Faucet and Bonus Farming on: October 21, 2022, 11:40:11 AM
I think casinos would simply not allow their business to lose in any way. House always win right? Faucets and bonuses are simply for promotional purposes . They might seem to be losing in a way that they are giving it for free but that's how promotion works. They are paying people to make them pay afterwards once these people who recieved free money, become interested with what they are 'selling' or offering to the audiences. Maybe not visible to consumers' perspectives but there are gains by doing so. They won't do it if they will earn nothing from doing so, as simple as that.
3064  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [BOXING] Manny Pacquiao vs. DK Yoo on: October 20, 2022, 11:11:24 PM
Im always a fan of pacman but let us accept the fact that he's not as focused as before with boxing. His visions were altered by his other ambitions as a basketball team playing coach and as a politician. He still got the juice or skills indeed, but not as refined as before. Age? possible. But bottomline here is that his odds of winning is not as big as before even on the weighing in phase. So it's a 50-50 on my end, his opponent is strong as well we cannot disregard that.

I support Pacquiao doing exhibitions, he's still got it and he still wants to box but unfortunately, his level is not on the level of top boxers in his division or in any division, boxers tend to gain weight when they stop doing what they love doing like training, by doing exhibition he can still show his fans his moves, put his body in the top level and at the same time make money, we all know his failed presidential campaign took a lot from his finances, so he can gain a portion on what he lost.

I will follow you with Manny's capabilities. He can show it up inside the ring by doing exhibition and knowing how he still loves doing his stuff for sure.
Power of experience indeed. But capacities has limitations based on one's bodies. But I'm not saying pacman won't completely have a chance to overcome the contender, but for sure he'd have a tough fight this time.
3065  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you get over a bad loss? on: October 20, 2022, 10:42:18 PM
Taking a pause would help. You must make time to kill time without thinking about or atleast lessen the thoughts that you've lost an amount. Some people would continue playing to get their money back but as cliche as it may sound, things could got worse by doing so. Try doing other things that you usually do other than gambling or playing, would be unfortunate if you have no other hobby or leisure.

But prevention is better than cure. Prioritize putting in mind that in gambling, there's no easy way to win. Always regard the possibilities of losing to avoid suffering when expectations are not met. Reflect as well if you could afford continuing this activity because you are free not to do so.
3066  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Two Gambling Stories on: October 20, 2022, 09:45:58 PM
These are two gambling stories that are very interesting

Story 1
A man stole his girlfriend's 10k to place a bet. He won 100 million and returned 10k to his girlfriend. His girlfriend is furious and demands 40 million dollars.

Story 2
An apprentice who won 16 million naira on BET was asked by his boss to split the money into two parts. This 50 - 50. As the story goes, people sided with his boss, and he had no choice but to comply. It's important to remember that the money used to bet belongs to the apprentice, not the boss.

*Read the different opinions of people here

First, in your opinion, what would be a reasonable amount to give his girlfriend? Second, assuming you were the apprentice in the story, would you abandon your training or would you have given in to the pressure to split the money with your boss?

On my case, if his girl friend demands for it, give less; if she did not give more than what he borrowed. Asking for more has a different meaning which could be related to greed. When it comes to his boss, why would he be required to split it? Did that boss contribute for his capital that he used to gamble? If no help was made, I guess his boss is not entitled for that half, much more if he's just using his position.

We are talking about gambling here. There are tendencies of losing, and if that happened rather than winnings, will these people be the same? Possibility is that, they might not.
3067  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you be influenced by your favourite celebrity? on: October 20, 2022, 03:54:11 PM
Influence is a broad thing. But given 'idols' have the power to encourage people towards or away something, there is a high tendency that some people would be affected or influenced by celebrities into such activities. Gambling perhaps is an example; those who are not into gambling could be persuaded to try which means there would be a chance for them to be hooked up with such activity one their attention is carried away. Factors such as trustworthiness (which I deem to be the biggest), could boost the confidence of those who are not really into it. There are many gambling sites to choose from but given someone they know promoted it, it could be something which could make them choose that specific website.
3068  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Casimero vs Akaho - December 3 on: October 20, 2022, 03:23:50 PM
Casimero is my Bet on this one , there are advantage towards Akaho because he is ahead in height and reach but Casimero is one of the most toughest boxer in His division so maybe lets call this as a much awaited fight  so better to  have your choice and bet .

and also Casimero will go Head to head in this one and not going distance to lessen the advantage of Akaho.

Same here, this is his comeback fight and I'm sure he will not mess this one up. No betting odds yet but I'm certain that Casimero will be the favorite to win this fight. Maybe waiting is the only thing to do now, and since both fighters have enough time to train, I'm hoping that we will see a war, not a fight that one will run while the other will chase.
Akaho is a strong contender no doubt. Casimero being a crowd favorite could be both a disadvantage and advantage. Disadvantage if he would be carried away by his drive to avenge his fellowmen who were defeated by akaho (we all know that this contender has a good record consisting of opponents with the same nationality as Riel). It could make him less focused with the fight. While on the other hand, this drive can give him the advantage to be more serious with this match up. Another thing is Casimero's previous fight result wherein it was a bitter end. Will it be a comeback or not? I am ofcourse in favor of Riel with this fight, but considering they are both good fighters, we may see the unexpected. Hoping that it would be a great fight.
3069  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If you win so big on: October 20, 2022, 01:32:51 PM
Unfortunately, what's happening more often; greed prevails. Winning would push a gambler to play more. Gambler's Fallacy I guess? It would be easy to have idea of such; quitting once you win a reasonable amount to quit, but that would be hard to be honest. A money earned easily is usually spent quickly as well. But ofcourse if you can simply show discipline, it would be much better . It is not impossible in the first place, it is just that such thing is not present to most of us, let us accept that. Money is too powerful that it can alter our ambitions, plans, and ideas.
3070  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do You Want KYC at Crypto Casinos During Registration? on: October 20, 2022, 10:53:48 AM
If players are into KYC services, they should have played with FIAT-Based casinos. Personally, I am against KYC procedures not only in gambling but to most of the online services, because I am anxious that my information could be used to something which may cause danger to me, basically. I do get the point of KYC to those which are mainly for transactions, but in gambling, I guess addresses (cryptowallet) would be enough for a player to send and recieve payments to the gambling site. Personal informations are quite suspiscious even if the gambling site itself is considered trusted or registered.
3071  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What are your criteria for selecting projects? on: October 18, 2022, 02:47:26 PM
Utility and Popularity are my two main basis when choosing a project to invest. But for sure there are other factors such as the concept itself, team behind that project, and such. This is crucial especially to newly introduced projects; some would be popular at first but in the long run, there's a tendency for its demand to fall if some factors would be missing or negatively affected.

On choosing a project it could either be subjective or not. An investor may depend to other investors on which is which, and he/she may also create his/her own judgement. Ofcourse it won't always be a winning investment, there'll be loss sometimes or often, and this is where luck may take place.
3072  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What problem does Bitcoin solve? on: October 18, 2022, 02:02:29 PM
There are so much problem the bitcoin has solved and keeps solving. The government spend huge amount of money printing paper money and same government will have to mop up cash when they start decaying and not too fit for public health, they burn it up thereby incurring huge financial losses. Bitcoin doesn't transmit diseases unlike the fiat that was a means of transferring Covid-19 and other dangerous disease, with bitcoin, traditional banks need not fleece me of transaction fees within and across borders regardless of the amount am transacting.
These are issues present for decades. Keep in mind that online payments are still having problems at the present because of connectivity issues. Also, not all people are 'tech savvy', perhaps how about older people? teaching this technology would still be a problem right now. Bitcoin and other cryptos, indeed, has many advantages but allow things to continue developing. It should be supported by now to counteies around the globe if there would be no potential problems. This technology has a high tendency to be on 'that' phase so for now, be patient.
3073  Other / Archival / Re: Q4 2022. What to expect from bitcoin? on: October 17, 2022, 03:06:29 PM
Probably it will be the time for bitcoin to bulish again, wherein at least on the current all time high because obviously bitcoin really making correction below and after the good progress last quarter it didn't came back again. So i believe the cycle still the same and before this year end for sure bitcoin will glow again in the market and will skyrocketed like what always happen after the massive decline. This is all a temporary situation for bitcoin.
It could be but maybe bitcoin still needs more time to start bullish again. The price of bitcoin is still around $19k-$20k so maybe we have to be patient again because it is not easy to move the price to start rising again. Besides that, the current price is not a guarantee of the lowest bitcoin price because the current price may drop again to a lower price than now.

But in the end, the price of bitcoin will definitely increase and we may not realize it later and we only know that it turns out that the price of bitcoin is already at its highest price. But we still hope that in Q4, this bitcoin price can start to increase, even if a little. If the price of bitcoin can return to $25k-$30k, maybe that is a sign for bitcoin to experience another bullish phase.

We never saw Bitcoin being the only token in a bullish movement, definitely other tokens should also be in an upward motion. At the present we are seeing the opposite wherein majority of cryptos are struggling to break margins and barriers. Now that we are already in the fourth quarter of the year, I guess it would be more realistic to view this year end as something not as most of us hoped and expected. Hopefully, early next year would be a better year for this industry. Many factors affected our assumption for this year such as economic crisis and conflict between countries, and this simply shows there are many things that could affect price predictions.
3074  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency should be infused to academic systems on: October 17, 2022, 01:51:59 PM
We all know things about this technology and industry in general but is it really an enough reason to 'make it a course' or 'subject'? 'coz I would agree more if it will be discussed on invetment and economy related subjects as a sub-topic but nothing much. This technology is still undergoing growth procedures and developments, so I guess things would be 'wasted' a bit when its 'final phase' has been reached, right? And even if it has reached its peak, I still don't understant its relevance to academe or as a profession. Indeed, it is profitable and it has many advantages over FIAT but the mere fact inconsistency occurs and is present in this technology, we would be exposing people to risks.

Yes it could be learned, that's why it is being pushed to the academic systems but if you're aware of 'Monte Carlo Fallacy', 'innate frustrations of an individual', 'drive for revenge' and such, for sure many people would get this point.
3075  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Fail from the Optimism development team on: October 16, 2022, 03:04:58 PM
Good thing if the team managed to cope with the mistake. It simply shows how professional they are with their project. But I hope this won't mess their project in general 'coz for sure there will be impressions especially to those who are really meticulous with their prospects.

But I'm a bit curious of how will OP team be able to control the inflation rate and using it as an advantage, annually. I mean, adding token supply could put the value at risk right? (correct me if I'm wrong). I do get the point that low inflation rate could stimulate a balance and healthy economy for a token but I guess it would be better if they will be focusing more on the aspect of attracting investors to theur project first.
3076  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why speculate when you can be at peace with Bitcoin on: October 16, 2022, 02:27:32 PM
Speculation is a part of the process interms of investment. The idea of assuming that its market value would increase in the future is already speculating. Maybe OP means not speculating that much or not putting that much of attention checking its market value.

That's just okay as long as it's your vison as an investor but we cannot put a margin to those who are using a different method; short term investment. We do all have different perspectives but for sure we are all having one goal; to gain profit from doing so.
3077  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and Prophecy on: October 15, 2022, 11:51:45 PM
Definitely not prophecy, but belief.

Actually, based on my understanding, to some believers they do think that investment is like gambling. I came across with a colleague way back 4 years ago when Bitcoin and other cryptos were also at its peak of popularity, before its downfall. I have opened up to him what am I doing to earn extra money and he's against with the idea. But fortunately, he's not someone who would look down on you simply because you have an opposite perspective.

In my case I am also a believer but I do separate religion/belief to other things especially if it will just form conflicts. As long as it is legal, I guess it would be fine.
3078  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Don't invest Heavily ALT now on: October 15, 2022, 02:44:36 PM
Sorry to break this to you, 80% of my money is going for altcoins because I want more returns, the problem is finding those gems that can give you 20x to 100x in a bull market, find them and you will make money, as for BTC I only expect 5x from the project in next bull market.
Good for you then but as far as I observe, OP has a point. AThere are many altcoins in this industry and choosing the 'right' ones is not that easy;luck would also be a factor. If you are making profit from investing most of your capital to altcoins, then that's good, but at this moment, big names I guess would be able to come out alive of this bear market. Most of the altcoins have low market volume which makes it best for short term investments. For long runs, established demand, and volume will be the key player to generate profit at the end of the day and this 'movement' for sure.
3079  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it good that the Bitcoin community acts like a cult? (Podcast) on: October 13, 2022, 02:37:48 PM
I don't see Bitcoin as a cult, it's just it is the first and prime mover, so obviously, it become successful because of a lot of followers. Satoshi can't be called a leader, he just disappeared right? And a cult is only for small group of individuals that worship a leader, but we are big already, and I will assumed that those who have bitcoin or at least who encountered and knows about it could be in the millions already.
Maybe he's pointing out with market movement wherein 'unity' is evident with the investors which is simply normal. Everyone wants profit from their investment which makes the tendency high for investors to move as one based on the market behavior. Perhaps there is a price increase, most of the investors will avoid selling early not because they planned it, but simply because they are all eyeing to a bigger profit. Also, in something which is controlled by demand, the best way to survive or to benefit from it is to move or go with the flow of the majority because quantity is the bottomline. Try moving on the opposite, I doubt if it would give you a better outcome.
3080  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC price consolidation at $20k for 4 months on: October 13, 2022, 02:05:52 PM
Yes this seems like a repeat of nov 2018. Basically extremely tight range. Most days it stays well within $1000 range from top to bottom. Very low volume.

The OI is actually going up. So it’s going to explode. However which way is the question. Best to play this with some options since it’s anyone’s guess where it will go.
In my persoective, the current situation simply shows how unpredictable this industry is. If we would base from the calendar and the past, there should already be an uprise pressure with market price of cryptos because of the season, but what happened is the other way around. Cryptos are prone from factors such as what we are experiencing right now wherein economic crisis is a problem to many countries around the globe which reflects as well in this industry. Whether it will go up before this year end or not, it would be surely hard to tell. The best thing we can do is to patiently wait and cope with market behavior.
