Long term vs Short term In my opinion, long term is less risky than short term. If you chose good coin u can get higher profit in loan term. it will gain more than the short term. i can tell you some good coin. u can hold them 2 or 3 years or more. DISCLAIMER - do your own research before investing in coins. These coins are chosen based on market news/updates/TA and other factors. It might not always work out. In these coins I can choose only 2 one is BTC and another one is XRP. According to me, there are few more coins will have a bright future compare to your list. NEO, NEM and Waves these coins are best in present market to invest. I think NEO will become next ETH I hope next year this coin will go like a skyrocket. |

I was looking for some altcoins to use as an example of altcoin that actually goes up against BTC, and not only against USD (while depreciating your BTC long position if you had any, see my thread here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2641352.msg26890562#msg26890562) Someone told me about Verge, which had an impressive pump against BTC: Sure, now it's crashing a bit, but cmon, this is insane, this coin was flaaaaaat for ages, and all of a sudden, McAfee tweets it and creates a multi billion dollar marketcap increase? Does this guy's endorsed tweets have that much power to pump a coin, or is there any fundamentals that are interesting enough in Verge that made people invest as they found out about the coin? These volume increases are not even half normal. On Dec 11, Verge was a $100 million project, on Dec 24, it peaked at near $3.5 billion.... what do we have here. Yeah dude, it's McAfee, that very smug son of a bitch. He tweets about a coin pretty much every day and that coin gets pumped. This happened to quite a few coins, one of the recent ones include burst which also had a price rise of like from 131 sats to 684 sats. That's fucking more than 500%. One more fact about XVG is that they have a shit team, so it's influence that's affecting the crypto market not the years of hardwork of developers,sadly. What's happening to the crypto world?   I think some group of people are spoiling this crypto world and making a fool for all new users. I don't how many new users lost their money because of the last pump in altcoins. Now investors are not looking projects they are just looking price chart of the coin and investing. Verge coin seriously still I do not believe how this coin grew in just a few days. |

I don't think so. Not being taxable is the one of the thing I like about bitcoin. The government can't get to us, the bank can't to us. Everything here is done by user to user.
It can be taxed only if you convert bitcoin to fiat. Bitcoin transaction is not taxable unless its mandated by the country's government and if its already allowed to use bitcoin as payments though in my country its not yet regulated. I think in every country the governament will fix one amount for tax free. If your income does not cross this limit, you no need to pay any tax to governament or else you must pay. To avoid paying tax to the government, you can open accounts for your all family members, and whose income less you can use those accounts and convert your BTC to fiat you can save your tax amount. |

From a "lets make the world a better place perspective" should we support only bitcoin right now or altcoins also?
Well we should support the both of them, the altcoins and the bitcoin to balance the growth and to avoid inflation of the price because of the our demand. We should also support them because they are the same cypto-currency. 1st we must support Bitcoin then only altcoins will have future, suppose bitcoin went down then all altcoins will die. Look at the price chart for all coins when the BTC price increases all altcoins also increase and when it comes down all coins will fall like how the prices of altcoins are falling. So both coins are important. |

well i'm not happy o see these huge fees on bitcoin. I don't know how was some years ago , but man right now to send 2$ you need to pay an extra 20$ or something near so no thanks , I'm not gonna use bitcoin for a while. I think this the moment when panic will hit the markets.
You are right the transaction fee went to peaks, you want to withdraw $100 of BTC you need to pay $50 fee. This will make new investors do not invest in this bitcoin. Now what happened means suppose if we need money and we have bitcoin also no use we can't withdraw our BTC suppose if you withdraw it's a big loss for you. Don't know when this issue will solve. |

That 164 run lead will surely bring some worries for the Australian team and if they could pull it close to 200 with the 10th wicket, then advantage will be for the English team. Today was completely belong to England they done great job and first time in this series going with some good advantage cook is hero for them now they have very fair chance to win this test because its big and good lead for them hopefully bowlers will back this and give them good new year gift Before starting this match people discussed including me why still cook is playing, he is out of form his retirement time came. So far, i have not yet heard that people are benefitting in gambling. Most of them are losing so there is not really gains but for some maybe, they may win once or twice and lost more. I dont see any positive side in gambling.
if you see profit and loss wise yes you are right most of the people had a bad experience and not gained any benefits in this gambling. But some people will play for time pass and to overcome work stress i think they got benefited from this gambling in another way. So it depends on how you treat gambling. |

Question is how many crypto currencies will really be needed to cover well the currency function, value storage, the need for total privacy and then all the other uses cases? A more fundamental question for the future of the whole market is, how big the part of the total economy will be that will get decentralised. I am bullish on that outlook but surely not all coins and tokens in existence today will still be there in 2 years time.
That is surely correct. But while many will perish during the next many years, just as many new ones will emerge. More interesting I think, which ones will survive 3-5 years even 10 years? Your last question is not answerable because I guess nobody can know which coins will sustain a long term in this market, 3 - 5 years we can predict some coins based on present progress in their project, but ten years it is tough to guess. |

Probably a good time to invest cause the prices are dropping including bitcoin cause of people over spending their money to christmas gifts and christmas shopping. These will be temporarily and the price may bounce back and go down again in new year. But if you can afford to invest now then go ahead if you dont, dont. you know what they say "only invest your money you can afford to lose."
Yes now it is a good time to invest, people are in holiday mood once they back to work then surely all coins price will get an increase. and don't expect a high drop in LTC and ETH price. These two coins went too far and what we see this is the stable price of these two coins. |

England bowled good today getting Australia out for 327 runs when it look like Australia will make 500 plus runs again. Now England are in with a chance to win the test match if they bat good and make a big score of 400 plus runs.
Good to see Cook playing well ( in his style ) , they have a chance but really can't tell anything until day 4 tea . I will be happy to go with draw for now since it has huge odds compared to AUS/ENG. Just started to get into trading alts again, what would someone say is the main differences between the two exchanges of binance and bittrex? I've just gotten involved in both and I must say I really do like Binance more, charting is nice, fees are cheaper, and everything just seems a bit sleeker.
What does everyone on here use for trading and what do you like about it?
I prefer Bittrex because the security is strong enough and the coins there all look good. no scam coins and for the look I think is very nice. Binance also looks good but I have never tried to trade there. I normally use bittrex so far for my trading everyday but i never use binance. I can not say which one is better but i think bittrex is good enough and there are so many choices of coins. Bittrex is an old reputed trading site that is why all people prefer this website, did you check now they closed new registration process. So now people are started to use Binance, and one advantage in this site is they listed many coins compare to bittrex, and the price and fee is also low. |

Doge coin price is increase a bit on this month, this is good signal. 50$ (long invest in IOTA)
50$ (short invest Bitcoin)
50$ (short invest Monero)

150$ is very small amount dude. It will not help you to make real profit, especially in short term. But diversifying your budget into many coins is a good decision and it will minimize your risk. Consider buying Ethereum as well because its price keeps rising. Nope, $150 is worth to invest. If you invest this amount in BTC or ETH, then it's not worth you need to wait for a long time to get profit. But if you invest this amount in altcoins definitely you can make a good profit. Come to the choices your 1st choice is ok $50 in IOTA but BTC is not worth instead of BTC you can choose any other good altcoin and Monero is also fine. |

XRP is getting on stream now and there are too many people that starting to invest with it. And with LTC, it started to become popular and it has increased just like ETH. Choosing what's better to invest, I'll say both has the potential and it's better to have these coins at the same, it's like cheaper coins but does have the potential to increase in the future.
