Using BTC with an Exchange by BFL_Jody , 01-17-2013
If I wanted to use BTC Exchange I would have gone to MtGox. If I wanted to buy dollars certainly, I would have done this. But strangely, I wanted to buy an ASIC. At that time BFL seemed a good idea to me. So, I bought an ASIC. Not to BFL's stance... They claim they sold me dollars! no they sold you a product nominated in USD. you just used btc to purchase it. same would happen if you buy a product nominated in EUR but paid in USD.

BFL's stance: BFL' stance is different from MY stance. I'm right. They are wrong. LOL at least you are funny

but i dont think anybody deserves a scammer tag for talking to an lawyer and following his advice.
You're another one getting confused over the role of lawyers. They aren't magical beings, they don't act in the interest of some wider good, they aren't trying to be fair to all parties. They're paid to give advice to someone on how best to protect that person's own interests. When someone says "My lawyer advised me to do X" you need to read it as "My lawyer told me that doing X would gain me personally more benefit than not doing X". You shouldn't read it as "Doing X is right" or "Doing X is fair to those I dealt with" or "doing X is 'good'". A lawyer's responsibilities are to their client (though they DO have to follow certain rules - but many of those are easily side-stepped), not to the public at large. Too many people have this strange (to me, as someone who deals with lawyers a lot in the course of my business) view that lawyers are somehow unbiased. They aren't. They're VERY biased towards helping the clients who pay them - and, to a large extent (but not totally), they're actually MEANT to be biased (and compelled by law to be biased - they have to give advice that's in the interest of their client, irrespective of whether it's in the interest of the wider public). It's a natural effect of the adversarial legal system employed in the US and UK - where the layers on each side of a dispute are MEANT to try to win rather than to find out the truth (and that's not necessarily a bad thing - but that's a whole big topic of its own to discuss). Following a lawyer's advice is neither here not there when it comes to getting a scammer tag. Or do you believe scammers can't hire lawyers? Anyone can have a lawyer - and that lawyer will (if a decent one) give them advice on how best to protect their interests. That act (having a lawyer) doesn't make them any more (or less) guilty of scamming than they would have been had they not had a lawyer. of course scammers have lawyers too. my point was that i dont think its sufficient to request documents (even if they costs some money) to get a scammer tag. and gigavps has very good reasons to want to know his customers. he simple cannot trust nefario's list. i dont see another way for him to be sure to pay his investors. what about this: tell gigavps to donate all bonds which are not claimed in february. if he say yes: there is no reason left for a scammer tag.

i do not own any gigamining shares (glad i sold them fast enough). but i dont think anybody deserves a scammer tag for talking to an lawyer and following his advice.
if giga would use your coins to pay his lawyer: scammer
asking for documents just to make sure nobody can sue him: no scammer tag
its a tradegy that we live in a world of bureaucrats which needs signed documents which costs money. but that is not gigavps' fault.

some pools (e.g. deepbit prop) dont want to be identified as it would putting them on risk to get pool hopped. but i do like your idea. it would show who made which block.
btw. if i would plan to attack your pot system: wouldn't it be enough to just add a 1 satoshi transaction to one of the known "trust" addresses? i dont think an attacker would really miss the satoshi.
if you want to force pools to use a fix conbase-address: this does not work with pools like eligius which pay from a coinbase transaction.

just a (very) small bug on the trading page: - choose limit order (you'll see a text field appearing to enter the amount) - press F5 (reload the page) - the text-field is not visible anymore (but the dropdown still says limit-order) just switch to market-order and back to limit order to get the text-field again. a small suggestion: i like that you show part of the orderbook on your trading page. if you'd move the order book down it'd possible to see my positions and open orders without scrolling. EDIT: btw very nice support. was really fast and still nice even i messed things up

btw its not really true that *all* girls want men who are dicks. girls who had a nice father in their childhood usually tend to look for a nice man.

Can we have only One moderator?
We don't have any moderators for this board. Any mention of smoothie actually running was a joke, but I have a feeling that saltyspitoon is going to have to make it clear that there is no way smoothie would ever be a mod with him In all seriousness I would change my act and appearance on this forum if I was a mod. No more trolling etc. I mean seriously how much could it hurt? If I fail then the current mods can remove me as mod the same day. It is quite funny how much trolling came about when I made my thread, which is a serious request to become a mod. Smoothie damn... i was hoping for another Diablo ... but anyhow... you still have my vote

You should be wishing you never got involved with Pirate . Theymos wants to avoid releasing unimportant third party information like who had how much invested, that's nobody else's business and won't help anyone. Along with email addresses, account information, other private information, etc. That kind of stuff would be removed before publicly releasing the pm's. None of this has anything to do with the SEC though, if they want information or plan to use the pms they won't accept internet redacted versions, they will get a subpoena, get what they want and decide for themselves what's important. So if you are worried about the SEC for whatever reason, there's really nothing we can do for you. thanks

please dont publish my one pm to pirateat40. it does not contain any hints to find him - its just what i have "invested" with him and i want to keep that information private
thanks
That's exactly what we want to avoid. sorry i am confused. what exactly do you want to avoid? do you want to avoid publishing "pirate investment" information? - and yes: this would include sec. or do you want to avoid HIDING investment information so the sec can get the most accurate data? i really wish i had never send that pm...

-1 for SaltyCoin for derailing other vote threads before he is even a mod
