NMC got a huge boost, but all coins are going crazy. It's the wild freaking west.
322  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BTC-E.com exchange Bitcoin, Litecoin, Namecoin <-> USD\BTC (fee 0.2%) on: November 21, 2013, 07:31:32 PM
BTC-E. I bow before you graciously. I acknowledge you domination of crypto currencies exchanges and salute you.

I respectfully request that you add a PPC/USD pair.

PPC had me great leaps in the last few months and will continue to do so. The imminent v.04 client update also has some features an exchange like yourself will find most useful.

Thank you,

Hey you were right!
324  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [PPC] Peercoin Newsletter #4: PPC Hits $1 - MSM Coverage - Peershare - Chinese on: November 21, 2013, 05:56:21 PM
The cold-locking feature is really important. It greatly improves security for PoS minters. Hope it comes with 0.4 Smiley

Also, seems we have hit a new ATH in indirect trading with 1.16 US$ / PPC today. So PPC, for now, was not affected by the Bitcoin crash.

Oh it got higher than that on Monday. I personally say $1.19 and it was at one point higher than that according to the graph Tongue
325  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [PPC] Peercoin Newsletter #4: PPC Hits $1 - MSM Coverage - Peershare - Chinese on: November 21, 2013, 08:58:40 AM
As Sunny King continues to develop the new Peercoin client

Do you have any news about that? Probably even a date he is working towards? Can't wait for the new release. There are some very important new features in the pipeline.

Thanks again for your effort. You are doing a great job!

Can someone tell me more on the new features?

All I've heard:

PPC v0.4 has been making progress but it still needs some more work. Hopefully the merge with bitcoin v0.8 would be code complete this week and testing can be started. On the other hand, I am evaluating the cold-locked transaction feature proposed several months ago, it may get implemented into v0.4 if things go smooth. This feature allows PPC users to run hot wallet minting stake without the risk of losing the coins due to compromised system. This feature is particularly important for operators with public wallet such as exchanges.

So a merge with BTC v0.8 plus some PPC specific ones.

Very cool.

As always a friendly reminder to join us a peercointalk.org for forums, chat, and all thing Peercoin.

Let's make 2014 Peercoin's greatest year thus far.
327  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Never forget: Monday 11/18/13 on: November 20, 2013, 06:04:15 AM
Never forget. It was a glorious day.

BTC, LTC, PPC, NMC, FTC, probably more I didn't notice all hit their all time highs.

And now look.

Devastation.
328  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: -- This is Why They're Gonna Kill Bitcoin on: November 20, 2013, 12:09:16 AM
This theory doesn't make any sense: if bitcoin gets wiped and all people owning bitcoins get financially wiped, tell me why the hell would people trust another cryptocurrency when they have just witnessed one collapse!!!!

Relative to the size of the world population, barely any people use BTC. If they killed it fast enough they could make their coin actually go mainstream.
329  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best Alt-Coin to Start Investing Into? on: November 19, 2013, 11:40:38 PM
What's up with some of these altcoins with almost unlimited supply? It seems that the attraction to bitcoin is that there's a definite number of coins and they can act as a store of value over time.

It depends on how its done. Some of them kinda make no sense, others look to have unlimited coins at first but really don't like Peercoin.
330  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best Alt-Coin to Start Investing Into? on: November 19, 2013, 11:12:32 PM
Alt coins so far add absolutely nothing substancial to the idea of a crypto-currency. They range from complete rip-offs to changes like in pow or in the hashing algorithm. On top of that most of them were created as pump and dump schemes.

This is not true for all alt coins. Some of them offer genuinely different features.
331  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best Alt-Coin to Start Investing Into? on: November 19, 2013, 10:48:31 PM
Long time trader here,

Right now BTC is at a low and is going to start growing again. These hearings have been positive, and this means Altcoins will usually fall against BTC (but still rise in USD).

Even so their are some historically strong coins with active communities and specifications. If I were to invest into Altcoin I would diversify approximately this way:

25%MEC 20%DGC 15%ANC 25%LTC 7.5%PPC 7.5%XPM

Guaranteed to make profit, Likely even in BTC.

Good Luck

What is MEC? Mega coin?

I wrote about this a about a year ago, how BitCoin would hit $1,000 which it just did. I also wrote about how it would be killed down the line. The pipe dream of crypto currencies and freedom, will be destroyed and become on of the worst tools for total enslavement into a global one world currency.

If you think your friendly NSA spying government is going to let some 3rd world country folk who mined bitcoins on their cpus become millionaires your triple dumb. They will keep these currencies outside the current infrastructure, and they will create their own government crypto currencies. Also, if you have any form of intelligence, these things were written in the bible 2000 years ago.

Basically there will come a time that once a world crypto currency is implemented everything else will be outlawed and you will by force have to accept the new form of payment or be put to death.

"The second beast was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that the image could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed. It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands(QR Tattooes anyone?) or on their foreheads, so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name."

The proper title shouldn't be why Bitcoin, it should be why "non government crypto currencies are going to get killed." It might not happen anytime soon, it might take years 10-20, but there will come an end when these decentralized currencies will come to seize. Bitcoin will get killed by other crypto currencies just offering better features, then later on all of them will get killed together.

I think the people always ultimately win, or at the very least gain control for at least some percentage of the time. Even if this did happen it's not the end of the world or cryptocurrencies.

Actually it is the end of the world as we know it. These things will happen, there will be a world dictator, then in the end god will come and judge, and evil will be banished, and a new world in ethical sense will exist. There won't be a need for currency anymore.

Probably not though.

That's your choice to believe it or not, I like my chances of choosing to believe since things written about 2,000 years ago are happening word for word, step by step.

If you're going to believe in something large going on you should be able to acknowledge that something larger is probably going on and it's most likely not the first one.

What can be larger than the creator of the known universe?

The source.

The creator and the source are one in the same, he is the source that sustains everything.
Or maybe he's not and even he doesn't know that. Or maybe he does. Or maybe he is but you still aren't referring to the right creator. Or maybe so many other options. If you're going to believe something like a creator or source exists you shouldn't also be admitting to knowing even 1/1000th of the story.

I don't know the story at all I just know his name, and everything he has written 2000-4000 years ago is coming into fulfillment, and even those things are only .00000000000000000000000000000001% of the knowledge about him.

ok

Many ruthless dictators and dictatorships have won and ruled over the masses for long periods of time.

We're overdue.

I think we're too young to say we're overdue if you think Earth is in it for the long haul.

Is PPC or will the PCC as the time progress
also be affected by the problem of big bloated block chain like bitcoin?

Peercoin seeks to handle that with it's transaction fee. It currently features a .01 fee to prevent spam.
340  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best Alt-Coin to Start Investing Into? on: November 19, 2013, 06:36:02 PM
PPC is the most interesting one. I believe at some point, the Proof of Work coins will realize the hardware race is unsustainable, and turn to PPC's Proof of Stake system.

1+ PPC would have its place in the future.

Glad to see it getting some more attention these days. 2014 should be a bright year for PPC.
