321  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: BTC, BCH, XMR and LTC will be the winner of China ICO ban on: September 07, 2017, 06:21:30 AM
good altcoins will always remain strong and survive anything. but shitcoins that are relying one certain things such as ICO will get dumped easily.
ethereum is going to have hard days ahead of it. the pumpers will surely try their best to prevent the big crash as the ICO stops slowly but i don't know how successful they are going to be.

bitcoin is not affected at all, it is rising on its own and based on real adoption.

litecoin is the brother to bitcoin and it rises with it. and with SegWit and LN the bond between them is stronger than ever. so is the rise.

XMR is a stand alone altcoin which will remain strong on its own. it has nothing to do with anything that is going on with ICOs and all that. but it was pumped recently so it may see some drop.

BCH is another story. it is the coin that was created to make miners richer and it has done it already. it will get pumped again when miners need more profit but other than that i don't see any future there.
322  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Now ETH is going down to the dip. You SOLD or HOLD? on: September 07, 2017, 05:07:46 AM
i sold my ETH a while ago because i predicted all the issues and the dumps that are coming these days and i am never willing to lose any of my precious bitcoins because they are invested in something like ETH which is dropping.

and i will stay away from it for a while at least until i see the dump finish or if i see a big pump starting up (not a dead cat bounce) then i come back in to make profit. otherwise i am not satisfied with a 10% rise and then a -20% drop after it.
323  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: what will happen to ETH now that ICO is dead? on: September 06, 2017, 11:55:46 AM
ethereum is up because of two things: ICOs and pumps.

China banning ICO has only made it harder for the CHinese to invest in ICOs so it will take a big hit because of it obviously. but there are still so many newbies all around the world who will invest in ICOs and help the eth pump.

and the second part is also always going to be available. the ETH pumpers are strong, they pump and dump it as they like not as the market demands. there is no logic there, it is only their centralized power hard at work.
324  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What questions should I ask myself before investing in a cryptocurrency? on: September 06, 2017, 06:39:11 AM
ask yourself what you really want to do.
you need to accept these things:
- trading altcoins is very risky
- altcoin market is very manipulated
- you can lose a lot of money but you can also earn a lot too.
- it will require a lot of time to learn and a lot of time to study and trade.

if you are ready to do all this and accept the risks that comes with them then you are ready to become a trader.
i say "trader" instead of "investor" that you used because i believe investment in altcoins is not really a good choice but rather trading them is the better choice that you can be more successful in.
325  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Best alt coin to invest in? 1k-2k USD. on: September 06, 2017, 06:26:30 AM
2 days ago when the dumps were at their peek, everything was good to invest in. now most of them have already recovered from the bottom and they are mostly back to normal now.

this just makes it harder to invest.
my suggestions are: NEO, LTC and Waves
and 3 is a good number of coins to have. you can easily manage them and have stop losses in case they went down (which is unlikely).
326  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to start trading alt coins on: September 06, 2017, 06:13:55 AM
1. Regularly read Bitcointalk forum
bitcointalk is very good but it also is filled with lots of FUD and false information. specially about altcoins, people always hype them up when they aer bag holding not when they are low and starting to rise.

Quote
2. Check coinmarketcap.com for current real coin values
3. Check coinmarketcap.com history of coin you are interested in
it is best to check the exchanges to get the live data instead in my opinion.
mostly because the charts on exchanges are a lot better than the charts on coinmarketcap.com

Quote
4. Check the ANN thread of the coin on Bitcointalk
5. Many coins have their own blogs/ forums you need to follow to be up to date
the same as #1. it is good but as long as you are aware of the hype.

Quote
8. Do not jump in ongoing coin pumps, you never know when it will dump.
for starters, i agree. this is a good suggestion. but jumping on pumps is one of the good ways of making profit consistantly every day.
i find it better than holding an altcoin and hoping for its price to go up.

Quote
11. Do not instantly sell your coins if they dumb instantly for no obvious reason ( research why)
it depends on how much it got dumped and what coin we are talking about.
sometimes some coins are not worth hanging on to.
sometimes the dump is going to be big and selling with a stop loss is much better than just holding on to something that is losing value.

i agree with the numbers that i didn't quote.
327  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: And We Are Back! on: September 06, 2017, 06:01:37 AM
i was very busy this week and i missed the dip myself. otherwise whenever there is a big dip like this i usually make a new topic warning people to "buy the dips".

this was exactly like the other times there was a big dip, a good chance to buy bitcion. exactly like the previous ones such as the $3700 dip in late August or the $1800 dip in mid July.
328  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Drops Below $5,000, So sad! on: September 04, 2017, 07:24:45 AM
Bitcoin Drops Below $5,000,  news source - coindesk..
bitcoin price never went above $5000 to come below it not. it got close enough but never touched it. and this is not "news" it is just a price report which you can see on any chart!

Quote
Coz, biggest sell-off since mid-July.
it was not even big enough to be considered "big". look at the volume of those days and compare it with the volume in a monght like July for example and you can see how small it was.

Quote
So, it can drop to 4k usd.
why? !!! just becaue a correction happened?
it may go down to that price but the reason will not be just because it dropped after $4900!
if that happens the reason will be something else which we can not predict now.
329  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: (ASK) Pump XRP ? on: September 03, 2017, 10:57:52 AM
Ripple pumps are usually short lived but quite good. you need to be very fast if you want to make a profit from trading Ripple.
you buy it as soon as the pump started and dump it just as fast. sometimes even as fast as 1 day only. and because the price is most of the times very low (like all last year when it was lower than 1000 satoshi) the profit is big.

but beware that the rest of the times it is getting dumped slowly and goes down.
330  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin on: September 03, 2017, 10:51:30 AM
LTC only falling all this years. Smart to sell it now.

i think you really need to go through a course of English language to learn the basics. or at least open up a dictionary. because nowhere in the world people call going from $4 to $90 a "drop".
maybe you failed the first grade math!

find a 7 year old and they can teach you that 90 is bigger than 4 and going from 4 to 90 means rise in a year not "fall"
331  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it possible to build a decentralised Facebook? on: September 03, 2017, 06:22:46 AM
Please give your thoughts

you mean storing everything on the blockchain?

it sounds very interesing.
i guess you can do that. everyone has a private key that they submit "stuff" to the blockchain and others (their friends) can see those "stuff" using their public key to find them. but everyone else would also be able to see it if they have your public key since blockchain will be public. so you won't have the privacy option of the facebook. (unless you implement the anon transactions in it).

the other issue would soon be that it require a very huge space to hold all the data and that can make it centralized again in a couple of data centers.
332  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Price Hits Record $5,000 Traders Initiate Sell-Off as Price Drops $400 on: September 03, 2017, 05:53:10 AM
whenever there is a rise like this which is fast and it reaches a round number there is always some traders that take it as their cash out point and they sell as soon as they see the rise slowing down.

and when they do, the pani selling starts and you see the big drop in form of a big red OHLC bar on the charts. it is not a strange thing and it is not a "sell off" really. it is more like a normal market behaviour.
333  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Crypto crash! It's happening! on: September 02, 2017, 06:31:52 AM
Finally, the crypto crash is upon us!
um, i don't see it! can you give us some examples of the coins you saw "crashing".
of course there are always a handful of altcoins that are being dumped every day. but it is not the whole market crashing. not this time.

Quote
What cryptos are you buying during this crash?
nothing now. i have all my money in litecoin and i have been accumulating Byteball for the airdrop to get more profit out of it.

Quote
Make it count my friends, sale days wont last long! Get your savings, sell your house and your car, it's the time to BUY!
that is a horrible advice!
you are practically suggesting people to invest in a highly risky pump and dump market with all they own!!!

let me put it this way:
a 40% dump which is common is $40 if you invest $100 and it is $4000 if you invest $10000
so choose which amount you are more comfortable losing Wink
334  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: When to dump shitcoin? on: September 02, 2017, 05:52:17 AM
you shouldn't even be investing in a shitcoin in first place!
of course there are exceptions when the shitcoin is getting pumped hard and you want to get the quick profit out of it, but it is a much riskier move and requires a very experienced trader to successfully pull that off.

also in case of these shitcoins your stop loss must be more precise. put it at a smaller loss than you usually place it and dump as soon as you see a small drop because there is no hope for them to recover.
335  Economy / Speculation / Re: How low will BTC crash in following days/weeks? on: September 02, 2017, 05:28:58 AM
When I went to sleep, BTC was $5000.
When I woke up, BTC was $4850.
Right now it's at $4790.

Data from CoinMarketCap.

coinmarketcap is an average price between a lot of different pairs, some of them even much higher and some much lower than real price. it even has altcoins among them for a bitcoin price!!
https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitcoin/#markets
for example it has LTC/BTC and is reporting the $6440 for it
and it has BTM/BTC and is reporting $776 for it. what you see is the average of all these!!!

even if that is your source, the numbers you are quoting is just a 4% correction!
336  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Sorry me, but it Very important information about litecoin (LTC) on: September 01, 2017, 02:30:45 PM
ever since this stupid topic started in this board, litecoin has been rising without stop!

OP keeps telling others to sell their LTC! and if anyone were idiot enough to listen they would have lost a lot of money. price has gone up from nearly $30 up to above $70 which is 2x the starting value. and it has been a slow and solid rise not a pump like other altcoins.

i "sorry you" but litecoin will continue to rise whether you spam FUD here or not Wink
337  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum Classic: what's happening??? on: September 01, 2017, 02:17:13 PM
it is most probably because ETH is going to be crumbling in the upcoming months and its price will most probably fall hard. that is why the investors are seeking an alternative for their money. what better than the original ethereum called ETC!
338  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Question: Why does prices of new coins listed on exchanges rise 100%+ ? on: September 01, 2017, 07:11:12 AM
this doesn't always happen.

but most of them times when a new coin is added to an exchange, in the first round as long as nobody yet knows it they pump the coin up so the prices rise up. but usually what happens after this first round is a big dump because it was listed somewhere and people can sell it now.

although if a big exchange adds something that was on other exchanges before (like poloniex adding a coin from cryptopia) then it will rise because it is hyped up for no reason and that is a pump.
339  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Does the name of a Cryptocurrency determine its growth ? on: September 01, 2017, 06:50:30 AM
no i really don't think the name of an altcoin can contribute to its growth. although a bad name can prevents its growth without a doubt.
for example you can not call a coin: ShitCoin, GayCoin, PumpCoin,... (these actually exist for real!!) and expect them to rise and become something!

for example you can never expect to walk into a shop and see the sign saying "ShitCoin is accepted here" Cheesy
but a name like Bitcoin is something that can grow and be adopted.
340  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoin Wallets? on: September 01, 2017, 06:32:52 AM
there are altcoins that have light wallets on top of their full node wallet. if you have issues with storing the whole thing like me (with slow internet or no space on your HDD) then just use those.
i know that Doge, LTC, Byteball from your list have light wallets. the first 2 have electrum forks and Byteball has its own thing.

and as for security, these top altcoins that a lot of people use are highly unlikely to be unsafe wallets. because many are using them.
