321  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Lottery ticket sports bets on: March 03, 2024, 04:47:58 PM
I can't be the only one that does this  Cheesy

When I am bored, I might seek out matches to make a multibet with the maximum amount of matches allowed.
So let's say at stake.com where you are allowed to make multibets with up to 25 match outcomes, you can pick up to 25 markets, even with live matches.

To give an example of why and how that can be interesting:
If you find 25 matches with odds 1.74, then that means your total multiplier would be 1.74^25 which would be above 1 mil. You can bet with as little as 5 cents and if you come true to all of your predictions earn more than $50k.

Of course there's no solid strategy behind actually winning such bets. It's super hard to win any of these bets especially if you put in the max amount of matches. But since it's something you can do with stale as low as 5 cents, not much harm is being done.

What do you think of such bets? Have you ever considered doing it?
By doing this you're literally giving your money to the sportsbook because the margin taken by the casino is also multiplied. So for example if the edge taken by the house is 3% by bet, the odds of your final multi bet will have 109% house edge if my calculations are not wrong. That is to say your odds will be half of what they should be for a fair bet if I'm not mistaken. No one could expect to make some profits in such conditions except if he's really lucky.
322  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Try to stick to your instincts as a gambler on: March 02, 2024, 10:55:05 PM

Today i decided to try one of my sweet predictions in the EPL games. So, i predicted in 4 matches and placed my net. However, during this time i watched my games played so well but two games were holding it and i felt i would lose this game. It was already 83 minutes and i needed these games to play at 87 minutes i gave up and decided to cashout the amount i used to stake since it was the amount that was showing there. I thought it was clear and instead of losing i should rather just get my money back. Just in 15 minutes after i checked the live score and found out that the game played. I felt so angry and unhappy because i have not trusted my instincts if not i wouldn't have cashed out at that time.
Thank you for sharing your betslip and your awkward experience with us, guy. Well unfortunately only you didn't apply the best strategy IMO, since it's almost always a bad move to cashout. It's the same thing as insurance at Blackjack, the payout offered is usually not a good deal because the RTP is very low, so if you always cashout your bet you are very likely to lose money in the long run.
323  Economy / Gambling / Re: Freebitco.in - FUN Token Investment Experiment on: March 02, 2024, 10:45:07 PM
With a bazillion tokens out there and BTC being the king, it's hard to convince entities to accept if the adoption rate is low. Also with lack of Layer 2 protocol (i.e. ERC20), fees are just not worth the hassle.

They had a Polygon version of the token which they called XFUN which had fees of less than 1 cent. They failed to get the token listed anywhere except a few decentralized exchanges where liquidity was low. They have now rebranded the token to just FUN and moved it to a new contract. They are still making the same mistakes as before because it’s almost impossible to acquire the token. I thought at some point they would add the Polygon version to FreeBitco.in and that would greatly improve adoption because of the low fees, but their apathy leads me to believe they might never add this option.

The token reached a value of only a single digit worth of sats earlier this week, with no indication that this perpetual decline will ever stop. They did name a new CEO a few days ago. It seems odd that something which is supposed to be decentralized to have a CEO but maybe they will have some new ideas that will be beneficial to investors.
FUN token always had a CEO, the former one was even the soul of the project litteraly : Adriaan Brink, unfortunately he died one year ago in April 2023. He used to be the architect of the new era of FUN token after its evolution from Funfair to the Freebitcoin ecosystem and a visionary leader for its development, that's why the project had been less updated since he started to be really ill IMO.

324  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Stake.com - unethical practices on limitting losing players on: March 02, 2024, 10:28:56 PM
Isn't gambling about trying to win money besides having fun? And I don't see where he's trying to chase his losses. He just want to be able to place big bets like he -according to him- was able to place in the past; he finds it unethical not being able to, which is his right. I think OP also understands that Stake has the right to do whatever they want to do according to their terms. From his own experience he's just giving the community a warning for what can happen. Nothing wrong with that, but a story has two sides and I wonder if Stake told him why he's not able to place bigger bets. There must be a reason, right?

-
And I don't think this thread belongs on this board, but rather in Gambling discussion.
Or Scam accusations/ Investigations. I'm not sure it's a real scam though but a very unfair and dishonest practice against customers at least. Because if it's true, it would mean that big losers have no chances to recover their losses and must face very hard consequences in their life even if they're just fairly getting few nice winnings after a hard loss or a long losing streak. How anyone could think the game had been fair and honest in such situation?

Is there anyone who is willing to take this risk of betting between the range of 65-70K. I think its highly unlikely that bitcoin can reach this level is such a short period of time but if it does, it will be just out of the world. To be honest we are moving way to fast upwards, i hope it is not short lived  Roll Eyes

I was wondering that all this rise and demand of bitcoin BTC in the last few days is only from the ETF or if there is any other fundamental updates like US interest rates or any CPI data  Huh
You should participate and bet yourself instead of admiring bold players and winners. Because "Who dares, wins." as we say. You would be aware that you can't place bet few hours before the end of the month because the market close several days before anyway. And those bets are not as easy as you seem to think actually. You can't just wait for the last day before placing your bet, you have to take more risks than that unfortunately.
327  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Stake; one couple two accounts illegal? on: March 02, 2024, 08:59:19 PM
Was it illegal to open two accounts between me and my husband?

It's against their TOS most probably, because how would they know whether it's different people creating those accounts if IP address is the same?  Roll Eyes

I will provide all the documents required but I would like to know first if what we did was prohibited or not.

What you did is prohibited in every platform, you can't create multiple accounts using the same IP address, if you do, you will either get banned or restricted and then asked for identity verification.
Could you quote the paragraph of TOS saying that please? Because as it has been explained before by several people, ToS don't prohibit it obviously. So the casino has obviously taken an illegal action against its own rules by doing that. If you open an account from the same residential or professional network as someone else you don't even know, your account would be banned and your funds locked while you have been not even aware of doing something that could be wrong in any way. This kind of rule would be totally unfair and abusive.

330  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Coinbase struggling to keep up with volume. on: March 01, 2024, 10:57:08 PM
Crazy day today with Bitcoin pumping and now cooling off have just gone to check my coinbase account and its currently showing £0.00 total balance.

This has happened before during busy times and it just go me thinking what its going to be like when the bull run really does start and it comes to selling.

Its not ideal when you might want to sell a position but you cant because coinbase cant deal with the volume.

Is there any way around this?

If i was to use advance trade and set sell limit orders for when a coin reaches a set price, will the order go through or will it not due to the exchange struggling?
You should take a screenshot because it's a good promotion against CEX and storing funds at them, even the most reputed ones. People leave funds there in order to be able to sell them quickly or to buy other crypto assets swiftly with them if a good opportunity happens. But if glitches occur precisely when you want to take advantage of opportunities, it defeats this purpose and becomes useless. It just remains risky for nothing at the end.
331  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Few cons to be aware of before going into Bitcoin on: March 01, 2024, 10:43:56 PM
So, I just did a little research and I think this information is worth sharing, and will help the newbies around here.  And I'm open to other ones too

These are a few cons to take note of before doing BTC

• Irreversible:  Most of us know that BTC transactions are final and not reversible,  and as such, if you send to a wrong recipient or a wrong amount, it becomes a really sticky situation. A lot of people tend to keep their digital currency in a cryptocurrency wallet, which puts them at rusk of losing investments if there is no longer access to their private key.

•Volatility: Satoshi Nakamoto imposed a limit of 21million Bitcoins, and then, it was regarded as  totally scarce. That contributed to Bitcoin's value. But also contributes to price volatility. Bitcoin's decentralization also implies that no minimum valuation is guaranteed, that is to say, if a large group of investors stops using Bitcoin, and sells them off, the value would significantly drop , and people with large amount of the coin will be affected 💔

•No Government Regulations: While decentralization is  considered as an advantage of crypto, it can be seen as a disadvantage of Bitcoin, given that it implies there is no investment regulations.
Unlike a currency regulated by a Central Bank, Bitcoin transactions are not accompanied with legal protection, and given it's irreversibility, makes it scam prone.

•Not accepted everywhere: Even as the rise of cryptocurrency is upon us, Bitcoin, still isn't accepted just everywhere. Major companies now recognizes Bitcoin as a means if exchange, it's still not widely accepted. This puts a limit on where you can spend.
I agree that volatility is a real cons and an actual issue of cryptocurrencies(except stablecoins ofc). But I disagree with the rest of the statements. Bitcoins and other cryptocurrencies are way more regulated by governement than cash money, and being irreversible doesn't belong to cons, it belongs to pros actually as it prevents any kind of censorship. Futhermore it's the same thing with cash money, once you've hand over your cash money, you won't be able to cancel the transaction if the person is not anymore in front of you.
332  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Common misconceptions about cryptocurrency (Bitcoin) on: March 01, 2024, 09:53:03 PM
As a beginner , in the digital finance space, it's vital to navigate through the endless sea of information, in this context, telling myth from truth.
There are actually numerous myths when it comes to the Bitcoin space and how it works. Here, I'll try to debunk the most common ones.

• Crypto is not affected by Traditional market: while this misconception may be a popular opinion among beginners, truth is, regulatory shifts and market sentiments can greatly influence the crypto market.

•Crypto (Bitcoin) is a 'get-rich-quick' scheme: Beginners are usually found in this school of thought. Most people think this to be true because of the results displayed by the professionals in the Bitcoin space. The increase in crypto asset prices have contributed to this fictional belief. Take note, there are risks involved, like any market.

• Crypto is for Tech wizards: As many beginners are likely to think this, it is not true. With platforms releasing better user friendly interfaces, it's become more accessible and even beginners like you can navigate the world of digital finance with ease.

• Crypto Gains are not Taxed: This is one misconception that if not addressed early can lead to disappointments later on. Fact is, they are subject to taxation in most jurisdictions. They are just like stock gains .

•Crypto doesn't have any reald world uses: Actually, they do. Other than existing as digital assets, their real world applications include payment of goods and services, like traditional currencies, and enhancement of supply chain transparency.
.
Conclusion.
Personally, I think telling truth from myth, fact from fiction is a great way to enter the digital asset space. You can make the best of your efforts. It may seem like I'm saying pretty basic stuff, but I think that's the point of relating to the beginners.
I'll post more myths later on.
Good luck!
Some of those so called common misconceptions are relevant while other are wrong I think. So it would have been better to rank them by their relevance and their dangerousness. For example the 'get-rich-quick' scheme should be at the first place. Because it's definitely the most common and most deceiving one of the forum and the cryptoverse IMO, and not only from beginners. People really think assets can take several dozens percents increase without any risks of falling down few days or weeks later. It's just because of a high volatility most of the times, actually.

334  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: When you are not to gamble. on: February 29, 2024, 10:55:18 PM
Gambling can be fun and also become a serious problem if not done appropriately. Alot of gambler get themselves into problem because they gamble anyhow and anytime. There are some times you should take a break in gambling so that you won't become an addict or give yourself problem. Time you shouldn't gamble includes:

👉👉when you are in need of money urgently
Some people gamble the most when they are in need of urgent money. They use the little in their account to gamble believe they can double the money in no time through gambling to do what they want to do. This most times go wrong making them to lose the little they should have save for that purpose

👉👉To regain back your loses
Pursuing loses in gambling make you lose more. So it better to have a break when you have lose alot. That period may not be your own lucky time to win. Taking a break can help you to avoid being addicted and also save you from losing more.

👉👉Under pressure or frustration
Gambling under pressure or frustration may make you go beyond your plan. It can also make you to make wrong decision from your bet. So it's better to do away with gambling during this period.

CONCLUSION
Gambling should be fun, it's better to stay away when it has started to become a problem.
You're right but you shouldn't forget alcohol and drugs I think. They are the most dangerous things for a gambler IMO. Even a woman trying to distract him or to seduce him is very unlikely to make him doing the mistakes he could do under drugs or alcohol. The player could completly lose the concept of money in his mind and not realizing the amounts he is losing. He could even lose the memory of his losses during his session.
335  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 Oscar Awards bets and discussions on: February 29, 2024, 09:48:54 PM
I don't know man, the topic is opened since september and you're the first one, since only 2days, saying she shouldn't be nominated in this category, and I haven't heard of such controversy anywhere else. She is nominated for the best Female Actor in a Leading Role by the Actors Guild for the SAG awards, she won a Golden Globes in a leading role category without any controversy  and bookmakers still seem to think she will get nominated for the Best actress Oscar.
https://www.sagaftra.org/nominations-announced-30th-annual-screen-actors-guild-awards%C2%AE
Finally, as you could see in the link below, Lily Gladstone won the best actress in a leading role award of the Actors Guild against Emma Stone, Margot Robbie, Annette Bening and Carey Mulligan.(Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role category, precisely)
Bokkmakers have then lowered their odds for her victory and they now think she has equal chances to win it as Emma Stone. Nothing seems to be done up to now.

336  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Stake Casino Scam Locking 45k$ Balance on: February 29, 2024, 08:58:12 PM
Found out BetRadar is the odds provider of stake. Reached out to them and after they responded and asked for id of bets i  provided them with the bet ids of all my sports bets. After they reviewed the email i sent them this was the response i got

“ Thank you for staying in touch.

While Sportradar provides software and odds as products for other companies, we unfortunately have no connection with the way they settle their bets with their customers.

I apologize for the inconvenience, we recommend re contacting Stake.com about your bet.

Best regards,
Savannah Diaz. “

So stake is saying its out of their hands due to investigation  and the odds provider is pretty much saying no investigation from what it looks like and saying they don't have connection in how stake pays out their bets. Very very shady business going on here…
That's very strange indeed, one professional sportsbook could lose its license if it lies to customers about things like that, because it would be a scam if it's false. So I hope for them and for customers above all, that Bet Radar is wrong. Maybe "Savannah" the agent was just unaware of this investigation and just replied like this because she had no access to those informations. Thank you for sharing this message with us anyway.
