Suddenly I'm locked outside Minera. I am 100% sure of my password, but the page simply does not open. meanwhile the miner is running, as I can see on the pool's webpage... What's up here? Should I reset my install?
3322  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [03-22-2015] When Does Bitcoin Become Money? on: March 23, 2015, 05:47:43 PM
Money:
A medium that can be exchanged for goods and services and is used as a measure of their values on the market, including among its forms a commodity such as gold, an officially issued coin or note, or a deposit in a checking account or other readily liquefiable account.
Something (such as coins or bills) used as a way to pay for goods and services and to pay people for their work.

Can you pay your taxes with bitcoin?

You can not pay taxes with Bitcoin Wink
3323  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [03-22-2015] When Does Bitcoin Become Money? on: March 23, 2015, 04:09:27 PM
Their point is a bit invalid, as Bitcoin is already money, in my opinion. It's just not seen as such by the masses, and they do have a valid point about this:

Quote
Last but not least, goods and services need to be priced in Bitcoin in 5-8 years from now. Most retailers that are accepting Bitcoin payments still list their items in fiat currency and accept the Bitcoin equivalent as payment. But what if products and services were to be listed in a Bitcoin value, regardless of the fiat currency value that would represent at any given time?

This is pretty big. When something isn't priced in fiat, people will start looking at Bitcoin differently. I think retailers should try this in some products Smiley
3324  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-03-19] Forbes: Is The World Ready For Bitcoin To Go Mainstream? on: March 22, 2015, 04:15:35 PM
Bitcoin, as it is now, can be fully and securely implemented for mainstream adoption, in my opinion... We have enough tools and services for merchants and people that makes Bitcoin easy to use and accept.
3325  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: PHP Bitcoin Node Status Page on: March 22, 2015, 12:13:50 AM
Can this be used with other cryptocurrencies?

It can indeed, as long as they respond over RPC in the same way bitcoind does - I know for a fact that the page works with the LTC node, and should work for most altcoins.

Ok, thank you Smiley I'll try fiddling with this in the next few days...
3326  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Guard your Bitcoin with Stainless Steel Cold Storage on: March 22, 2015, 12:01:18 AM
So they have access to your private keys?HuhHuh

I don't think so. They send you the things needed to put your private key on the steel "plate", it doesn't come "pre-assembled".
3327  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What cryptocurrencies have been innovative (introduced new technology) on: March 21, 2015, 11:29:44 PM
Beyond Bitcoin, Tenebrix, Litecoin, Namecoin and Fluttercoin were definitely innovative.
3328  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: PHP Bitcoin Node Status Page on: March 21, 2015, 11:20:37 PM
Can this be used with other cryptocurrencies?
3329  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-03-20] CD: Ukraine 'to Crackdown on Separatist Bitcoin Accounts' on: March 21, 2015, 09:13:17 PM
I assume these kinds of people use systems like Tor in addition to Bitcoin Core and Armory. Anyways, even if they didn't it would still be almost impossible to stop them from using their keys to spend and receive coins... Let's see how they'll manage to handle this.
3330  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-03-21]WHEN THE DOLLAR COLLAPSES, WHICH IS BETTER FOR YOU? GOLD OR BITCOIN? on: March 21, 2015, 09:08:42 PM
Give me Bitcoin anytime. It has the store of value capabilities of gold and it is useable as a payment method, just as the dollar. Best of both worlds, so no doubts here, no articles needed Grin

3332  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Cryptosteel: The Ultimate Cold Wallet Private Key Storage System on: March 21, 2015, 08:35:58 PM
We are happy to announce the Explainer video for Cryptosteel.

http://get.cryptosteel.com , http://fb.com/cryptosteel , http://twitter.com/cryptosteel

Now that's a nice video and a nice way to pump up the hype train! Cheesy

The Cryptosteel is an interesting one, but my main concern is what if tags unlock and to drop a few letters?

For example: falling "accident", deliberately, etc.. (how strong is a screw?)

After watching the video I have the same question, I see the keys are "pressed" against their "rails". I though it worked by pushing the letters from the side of the "rails" and closing a lid... Smiley
3333  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Sweden the welfare state - I get $1k for doing nothing now on: March 20, 2015, 11:38:25 PM
Sweden and other nordic countries have been well known in the last few years for their amazing conditions overall... And for immigrants that go there to abuse the system.

I don't know how taxes are up there, but as a working European citizen, I'm completely pissed that my tax money goes to junkies in rehab and people who have 100 children, receive money for each one of them, treat them like shit, don't educate them and spend all their time and money drinking coffee and tea by the seaside while I'm working and actually doing something for myself (and my country).

One of the reasons I'm around here... With Bitcoin I don't have to give satisfactions to anyone but myself, and I don't have to pay any taxes. I would give up paying taxes and the perks I have by paying them any day.
By paying taxes, I get free assistance on public hospitals. I would give up this in a heartbeat if I could keep the money. I don't use hospitals often, fortunately, and if I needed one, I could go to a better, private hospital, with the money I was saving by NOT paying taxes (although this is slowly starting to change, public hospitals are starting to be quite acceptable).

In conclusion, all our countries have debts they have to pay with our tax money and they have to look good from the outside, saying they help those who need.

There are other injustices in tax paying and "helping" those who "need" with that money, but that's an issue for another topic Smiley

So, people deposited Bitcoin there? For what, did they act as escrow? And he talks about "profits" in the goodbye letter, was it really profits or stolen coins? Any blockchain evidence? I'm pretty curious.

Also, that "goodbye letter" just seems something written to mock people, they probably haven't got that much profit/stolen that much coins.
3337  Economy / Services / Re: girlbtc.com we need a translator on: March 20, 2015, 06:07:12 PM

After all money he owes you is something like 0.01. It is not that much...

Exactly, it's not that much. So it should be easy to pay Smiley
