2441  Economy / Speculation / Re: How much money do i need to start becoming a whale on: July 31, 2015, 08:50:28 PM
The most you can make. Walls get bigger and bigger... The more you have the better. There is no fixed number. You can push the market with more or less Bitcoins, dependeing on the current volume.

Giving a shot at a certain number, I'd say 5000+ BTC
wow. stupid question: is it a good idea to take part in this or is it frowned upon

You do whatever you want. That's the good part on Bitcoin markets. The bad part are some people who participate in it Cheesy

And also, as said, the number of bitcoins needed to change a market varies a lot, according to volume and to the website you're using for trading...
2442  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Domains4Bitcoins: FREE Bitlotto ticket with purchase – ends July 4th [extended] on: July 31, 2015, 08:36:19 PM
So I've already purchased 1 domain with domains4bitcoins, I'm about to purchase another, was wondering if I could get a coupon?
Customer id: 13239601

I don't think you will... Check OP's date and time. And also bitlotto trust rating Roll Eyes
2443  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Event Announcement: Branding Bitcoin in the Media - August 5, 2015 [ZapChain] on: July 31, 2015, 08:26:48 PM
I think you'd have better luck moving your post to Meetups than just bumping the thread Cheesy

Good to see people still ordering pizza with Bitcoin! I wish I could do similar in my country Grin
2446  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's the best solution for the scalability problem? on: July 30, 2015, 09:00:19 PM
I also think simple block increases are the best solution, at least for now... Storage and bandwidth will always be one step ahead of blockchain size and blocksizes...
2447  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How Do You Earn Free Bitcoins? on: July 30, 2015, 07:44:54 PM
You're either really lucky or that's pretty much impossible without putting up some money up first... You should try and start making small tasks in return for Bitcoin.
2448  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Network need upgrade ASAP on: July 30, 2015, 07:28:35 PM
you can still have the manual fee option. Is not acceptable anymore when you choose the "normal" fee to doing one hour for one single confirm.

So the solution is to simply drop the normal fee? I disagree, I think the solution is more of a rework to the normal fee. It should constantly query the blockchain for what should a "normal" fee be. I don't think it does this as of now, but honestly I'm not sure as I don't use the app. Last time I checked, it didn't.
2449  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Network need upgrade ASAP on: July 30, 2015, 07:19:47 PM
I agree with the blocksize update (and for more than just 2mb), but the fees still have to be customizable. What if you just don't want to pay high fees?
2450  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: thinking about making a bitcoin altcoin exchange site, is that legal? on: July 30, 2015, 04:11:04 PM
I don't think it's illegal, even in the US, unless you want to trade with fiat too... For that you need a license, for the rest I don't think you do.
2451  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] Accept KYC or jump through hoops to avoid it? on: July 30, 2015, 03:52:18 PM
I avoid giving any info related to me at all costs. I generally don't mind giving my name and/or an approximate address, but I'm not giving pictures of my documents. When I have to send scans of my ID in my country for government-controlled entities (or other entities that require my ID, such as cable providers, water and gas providers etc), I scan the documents and then I edit them with big red letters on top of my ID saying "for exclusive usage of *company name here*", otherwise I'm not sending my data anywhere.

That being said, I voted "I refuse to do business with a company requiring it.", obviously.
There is only a slight advantage of doing red color on top of your I'd.
But anyone with basic knowledge of Adobe photoshop can remove the red color and write other company's name on it.

That is correct. It won't stop someone truly dedicated in stealing my ID. But it's an extra and easy security precaution one can take. That and sending low quality scans, where only the basic info can be seen, making it difficult to steal the ID.

Also, sending ID like this was the advice of my trusted lawyer. Works for me, so better pass it on Cheesy

Didn't knew about this website. It would be amazing if someone had the funds to buy it and see if it was fake or not.

2455  Economy / Gambling / Re: casinos and dice game on: July 30, 2015, 03:07:55 PM
If you feel and have strong evidence that any gambling website is rigged you are free to post about it on the Gambling sub forum or on scam accusations. Otherwise it's just unfounded claims...

Actually I trust Bitcoin casinos more than Las Vegas and whatever. Bitcoin casinos, at least some have their codes released, the system is open source. With Las Vegas you never know what kind of tricks they are pulling. Obviously the odds are against you, thats the business.

Excellent post Smiley
2456  Economy / Services / Re: [BIT-X.com] Earn Bitcoins by Posting | Signature Campaign on: July 30, 2015, 03:05:39 PM
The hot wallet is out of funds. I'll be refilling it as soon as possible. Your payment will be correct and your posts will continue to be counted.

Also came to post about this, it was predictable that it was a hot wallet issue, good to still see this campaign being well run Smiley
2457  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Wallets that gives out Free Bicoisn for Signing Up on: July 30, 2015, 12:19:16 AM
I don't think such a thing exists anymore. Xapo used to give a few bits if I'm not mistaken, but they don't seem to be giving them now, at least I can't find anything about that on their website... Try and see what happens anyways Smiley
2458  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Generating Private Keys From Strings Of Words on: July 30, 2015, 12:07:57 AM
the word combinations are quite big, and when you mix languages they're even bigger. If there was enough people using this method of generating private keys for collision, one just probably had to raise the words limit.,.. Smiley
2459  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Bitcoin ATM chicago on: July 30, 2015, 12:06:08 AM
This should probably go into Service Announcements, you might have better luck there Smiley

Why don't you recommend

It's bad practice. If you can fix the issue by only changing credentials on a folder, that should be the solution you go for. Giving system wide privileges to the process instead is not an acceptable work around, rather a way to verify this is a permission issue.

That is correct. I just thought there was a particular reason for "running as admin" not to be recommended in what concerns handling private keys (hence why I said I have no keys online on Armory). Although Armory binaries and bitcoind are safe it's a good pratice not to do such a thing Smiley Thank you for all the answers, Armory now seems to be working.
