Any particular reason for selling?
2462  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [DENARIUM] Next Generation Physical Bitcoins (IN STOCK) on: July 29, 2015, 11:10:29 PM
F-Secure's Mikko Hypponen liked his Denarium Smiley

And he didn't have small numbers, imagine if he did... Cheesy
2463  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Assuming a regulated world, what would be illegal? on: July 29, 2015, 11:05:29 PM
I was thinking of what is deemed illegal in the way people trade Bitcoin on exchanges and wondered if much of it is illegal. I wonder what other fun stuff we can kiss goodbye to if Bitcoin was regulated and stayed within the 'Law'

I don't see anything being illegal as long as exchanges with BTC/Fiat pairs are registered and compliant with their countries laws. Bitcoin regulation can meet a middle point where mostly everything we do can still be done in a legal way, while still being regulated by minimum laws. that being said, I don't think regulation is key for Bitcoin development... And also there are some "regulations", but they don't really mess anyone's plans up, at least yet Cheesy
2464  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 50 BTC lost because of blank passphrase on: July 29, 2015, 10:45:00 PM
This is a known address, it's the default example from brainwallet. The person who sent it there either made a donation to the wrong address or made a big mistake, unfortunately.

Since it was probably a mistake, it should be returned, but we all know that doesn't happen (much often...). I guess we live and learn, unfortunately the amount of coins was significant.

It is also possible that the guy swiped the coins himself. But, as I can see, even after 80+ confirmation blockchain.info is showing the outgoing Tx as double spend.

Yes, that's a possibility too, but a very optimistic one Cheesy

I was under the impression there are bots out there dedicated to scanning for obvious brain wallets. That's the most obvious one of all by the sounds of it. Goodnight, sweet coins.

I don't really get why anyone indulges in them.

Yes, bots exist... People are after free and easy coins, I guess... Roll Eyes
2465  Other / Meta / Re: TRUST RATING?? on: July 29, 2015, 10:11:18 PM
This question belongs to Meta

Anyways, to have green trust you basically have to receive a positive feedback by someone on the default trust list. Either by trading successfully with them, disclosing scams or doing something beneficial for the forums.

Seriously, this thread should just be closed... This is not the first time it's been revived, have people seen who the author is and when the OP was posted?
2468  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Psycho Bomber: ‘Buying a Glock Was Like Buying Bar of Chocolate’ on: July 29, 2015, 09:49:50 PM
Two amazing things right out of the box: Bitcoin is for terrorists to buy their weapons and deepweb is for pedophiles and drugs sellers Roll Eyes Mainstream media still paint Bitcoin in a really dark way, and they also think deepweb only suits illegal things... When will people start being informed of what's really the truth and not someone's distorted vision of things? It's absolutely impressive and disgusting they take every piece of bad news to give a bad image to Bitcoin. And even more awful that a website named altcoinpress is going by these things...
2469  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where to buy Bitcoins? on: July 29, 2015, 09:46:31 PM
You can send your ID + drivers license, for example...

As for alternatives, you can try something like localbitcoins if you don't want to send your info, or Kraken, if you don't mind them having a bit of info.
2470  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Wallet for Android / Re: Bitcoin for Android wallet - 10 confirmations and no coins.. on: July 29, 2015, 09:38:16 PM
I use blockchain for android and i dont have problems

Except the fact that you don't own your private keys...

As for the problem in the OP I can't help. I bet you'd have better luck asking here Smiley
2471  Other / Off-topic / Re: Creating new digital USD (for the Federal Reserve) on: July 29, 2015, 05:01:30 PM
Do you think that such a coin would be of interest to any government?

To any "government"?  Very funny.  No, of course not.

However, there are people who work for the government who actually have connections to communities and rely upon paychecks.  They might see the value of a digital serial number on every dollar.

Exactly. They might see something good in a trackable currency. But they're not the government Cheesy This is never going to work. It's a bit like asking for a centralized Bitcoin Smiley
2472  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: With no mixer we are all known now? on: July 29, 2015, 04:54:16 PM
Use a different address each time and use change addresses. Don't connect your identity to any addresses and there you have pretty much enough privacy. It's like people said above, if they can track us, how many coins does each one of us has? Cheesy

2474  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Darkwallet vs. Bitmixer.io ? on: July 29, 2015, 04:44:38 PM
If I'm not mistaken, Darkwallet uses stealth addresses, something that can be used depending on the blockchain only, thus being decentralized. Bitmixer is just a mixing service. AFAIK Darkwallet does not do mixing itself, so they're different things for different purposes.
2475  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain without bitcoin. Can it work? on: July 28, 2015, 10:25:14 PM
I think you are right... there's got to be rewards on a blockchain for people in general to mine, and not just an organization (it would be something centralized if only one group of people mined in it). People have even proposed a blockchain keeping track of important documents or a blockchain that validates medicines and rules out counterfeit ones. I'm not sure how blockchains like that would work without a real incentive... Only some would mine.

Let's see what the future brings Smiley Maybe the future is simply including these things on the Bitcoin blockchain
2476  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory on Windows 10 on: July 28, 2015, 09:55:09 PM
I'm switching the machine controlling my Offline wallets... But it simply doesn't get out of offline mode

Just nitpicking

Quote
CalledProcessError: Command '[u'icacls', u'D:\\Bitcoin\\bitcoin.conf', u'/inheritance:r', u'/grant:r', u'*******:F']' returned non-zero exit status 5

It failed to change privileges on bitcoin.conf, most likely because you user doesn't have the proper credentials to change access rights on that drive.

There are a few solutions available:

1) Start Armory with admin rights (I don't recommend this)
2) Turn off auto bitcoind management and run BitcoinQt yourself.
3) Start Armory with --disable-conf-permis (https://github.com/etotheipi/BitcoinArmory/blob/master/armoryengine/ArmoryUtils.py#L120). I don't exactly recommend this either
4) Give your user the proper permission. Right click on the D drive, go to the security tab, pick your user and give it full control over the drive.
5) Move your bitcoin folder into a path your user has full rights over (most likely C:\Users\*yourusername*)

Noticed I didn't change Bitcoin's home folder in Armory settings. it went right back to Offline mode. Started it in admin mode and it went right through. Why don't you recommend? The usage of this wallet is to create transactions for offline signing, only. I have no keys stored on Armory in online machines.

As for auto management, I'd like to leave it turned on. Very handy...

EDIT: to keep auto management and avoid running Armory as admin, I've changed permissions of my Bitcoin folder. I'll report back if something goes wrong.
2477  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory on Windows 10 on: July 28, 2015, 09:28:56 PM
Do you have auto-manage enabled? You may want to disable it and manually start BC Core.

Yes, I have. I disabled it, and it kept telling me it was offline, with the difference of now appearing a "Get online" button. I've setup bitcoind manually and it said Bitcoin-qt was running (even when I had disabled automatic management). Fiddled with settings and bitcoind, then remembered to reset Armory settings... Apparently that did the trick somehow. It appears to be building Armory databases now. Thanks for the help. I'll see if this syncs correctly.
2478  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Making it rain Bitcoin and tipping people in group chat on Telegram on: July 28, 2015, 08:53:35 PM
Seems nice but it's not a new idea. There are gambling website chat's, for example, that have rains too Smiley
2479  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: What is now the best wallet app for iso? on: July 28, 2015, 08:49:30 PM
I knew the MODS would find a way to move a perfectly relevant Bitcoin thread to a nobody reads section...

Where was this thread originally? Because this is the right section for it. OP is asking for an alternative client.

And since I'm here, bitWallet is also a nice option, although I didn't test it extensively.
2480  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-07-28] The 2013 Bitcoin fork not funny, but the IRC logs are on: July 28, 2015, 08:23:39 PM
Logs aren't funny either... Nothing funny in things gone wrong. Our luck is the fact that many knowledgeable people and devs are always paying attention to how the blockchain is going/behaving.
