341  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VTR] vTorrent - Share with freedom | 2FA | HD | @Bittrex on: September 20, 2018, 01:02:36 AM
Put yourself in his shoes. You have a wallet with quite a lot of coins in it and you keep staking. You have perfect knowledge if you are going to deliver the product or not. It's January, btc is at the ath, vtr is worth 10x more than it is now and it's listed on bittrex. If you know that you are not going to release anything and it's just a scam why wouldn't you dump your coins? It seems that he didn't. When you look at it from this perspective it doesn't matter if its forgotten vps or not. He won't be able to dump those coins anymore and he could have made 20 btc or more but he didn't.

Good point, whatever happens from here I think it's reasonable to assume this dev didn't set out to scam anyone, there was no ico, and the premine was quite small, so if vtorrent ends up failing it will be for some legitimate reason, like the dev didn't solve all the tech problems, or his private life made it hard to commit the needed time.

The good news is if the dev is still working and actually releases a viable torrent implementation,  then there's nothing preventing this project taking off in a big way, there's no smell, no scam, just clear air!

Does anyone offer a full blockchain download for NXT that isn't pruned or trimmed, just the whole blockchain with everything included?

I'm trying to experiment with some api' s, and syncing from scratch is taking over a week!

Goto to bottom of www.jelurida.com and here you'll find blockchain for download. According to Riker: It's simply a copy of the Nxt blockchain which we upload there once every 24 hours. It is compacted before uploading for efficiency but it still contains the full transaction data.

Hey, thanks a lot martis !

Poloniex delisting is a sad day, i still remember when they first started with marking, there was so much potential with bitmark, one of the biggest under achiever coins in the whole  cryptosphere. Never really recovered after Nathan Rixham was expossd as a scammer, i know later devs tried, but the rixham scam and lies drove away a lot of the original community.
344  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HLM] HELIUM - PRE NOTICE on: September 19, 2018, 07:44:59 AM
How hard to setup a masternode on Windows, or is helium more suitable for Linux now? Is there a tutorial for masternodes too, and anyone thinking of setting up a staking pool?

Got my wallet setup and spread keys imported, was very smooth!

@ JungleOnion - Thank you for the post.

To see over 2600% and over 3000% increases in a coin such as this is a joke and points definitely to a scam.

Btcd was swapped to komodo over a year ago, devs moved on to komodo and took the investors in btcd with them, so it wasn't a scam at all, it's just that exchanges like making money so if people trade a dead coin they'ĺl keep  listing it and taking the fees. Gamblers will bet on anything, the cryptomarket attracts gamblers.

347  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: September 19, 2018, 12:53:48 AM
no community, no partnerships, no adoption, no scalability, no decentralization, no ddos protection, no icos, no dapps, no merchants, no usage, dead blackbytes, no exchanges, no usd pair, no liquidity, no worldwide distribution, -99% ath, bytball is crypto 3.0. What's next bytball?

Why so negative bro, byteball has one of the best devs in crypto, and we're in the middle of a bear market so every coin is getting squeezed in all those same areas. Compared to Most crypto byteball is still one of the best choices, just need to finish the distribution, which will happen eventually.
348  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PIRATE] A zk-SNARKS transactions only blockchain on: September 19, 2018, 12:44:43 AM
This is fantastic project!  When exchange?  Wink

Yes, PIRATE is a fantastic project, afaik komodo team is working on details for how centralised exchanges could list a coin like this with only anon z transactions by default. Some technical things to work out, but hopefully soon we can trade this wonderful addition to crypto privacy, fungible digital cash!
Can someone explain why centralized exchanges (eg binance/bittrex) will not list a only anon z transaction coin like this?

Some exchanges want to kyc devs now to list coins, or at least have a real person to deal with from the dev team. Also, with PIRATE the problem might be how to track down lost payments for support tickets, with anon z only transactions the exchange will need to factor in other ways to track deposits and withdrawals, they can't use a block explorer,  or payment Id's like monero. It's possible, they just need to be motivated to do the work, PIRATE isn't a regular  plug n play crypto, that's why it's so promising!

350  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] NEWB - The crypto market's dirty little secret on: September 19, 2018, 12:35:51 AM
Due to the major Ethereum hard fork in October we have decided to postpone our migration to a single token to December 31st 2018.

https://coins.newbium.com/post/16650-announcement-making-newb-market-more-simple

This is a good decision, ethereum is looking a bit too shaky now, I'd actually love to see newb migrate to a komodo asset chain with full delayed PoW giving bitcoin level security. Komodo platform is doing amazing things now with scaling, and is stable compared to ethereum with a coherent roadmap that's coming together after years of hard work. Only problem is despite the tech, not many people know of komodo platform, but that is slowly changing.
351  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DCR] Decred - Community Governance | Bitcoin Devs | Lightning Network on: September 19, 2018, 12:30:50 AM
Lately i've noticed a big drop off in my staking rewards, like maybe down 30-40% from the number I was getting 3 months ago, has there been a large increase in the proportion of coins staking? Has anyone else had a similar drop? I'm using a staking pool, so my tickets are online all the time.
352  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sia - Decentralized Storage on: September 19, 2018, 12:27:38 AM
I really look forward to the day when all the discussion around sia is based on the fantastic decentralised storage application, and the problems with mining and asics and bitmain etc are long past.

Has anyone considered using komodo's delayed PoW notary service with sia, would that work?
353  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: | STRATIS | The first blockchain developed for businesses |Full POS on: September 19, 2018, 12:23:55 AM
I need some help setting up a windows masternode , is anyone offering a masternode pool for stratis yet, or a hosting service? I remember therewere guys in slack saying they would start a masternode pool, did that happen?
354  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HLM] HELIUM - PRE NOTICE on: September 19, 2018, 12:21:34 AM
Congrats to helium team for finally launching hlm, it took a while but overcoming the obstacles has brought together a battle hardened team that has shown the community how committed they are to staying the course. I am impressed with what you guys have done under difficult circumstances.
355  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Cash - Pro on-chain scaling - Cheaper fees on: September 19, 2018, 12:18:17 AM
The price of bch is not really relevant to me now, whenever I want to use digital cash I convert my money into bch and spend it to pay all my bills and credit card, so nearly 80% of my spending is done using bch, I just don't use it to store all my wealth. Once you start using crypto for spending the obsession with price goes away.

Wouldn't it be cool if someone used the exact same privacy tech as Zcash, but launched it without the founders tax nonsense, ...

Someone should launch ZCash without trusted setup to be useful. I believe that will be soon possible. So expect gazillion such coins.

+1
Agreed, Zcash relaunch without the trusted setup and founders tax, and with enforced z only transactions would be a pretty awesome coin!
358  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sia - Decentralized Storage on: September 15, 2018, 07:32:40 AM
Same number of SC is mined daily since inception...and its the same for any other mined coin...not many have working product yet,
and yes, welcome to the capitalism, where we bet with our money on future marker winners

[Insert inciteful black swan, antifragile comment]

SIA has a good team, good tech, à working product, and some big problems,  let's hope they work things out and the storage app goes viral!
359  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 15, 2018, 06:21:07 AM
Wouldn't it be cool if someone used the exact same privacy tech as Zcash, but launched it without the founders tax nonsense, and made it so all transactions were private by default, so the coin was actually fungible and usable as digital cash.

Someone did!

360  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CoinTracking - Profit/Loss Portfolio and Tax Reporting for Digital Currencies on: September 14, 2018, 04:08:33 AM
Does Cointracking have data from the NXT asset exchange? I need to get historic balances for NXT assets and MS currencies at particular dates in the past for 6-8 NXT accounts, can Cointracking do that?

Also, is cointracking made by the same team who created nxtreporting? That was a great site, but sadly doesn't have the old NXT asset exchange data anymore.
