Almost doubling in value in less than 2 days isn't exactly inspiring confidence in me right now either.

How about being the same value it was 3 days ago? What a silly comment.

Did you forget the < $20 to $266 run up that caused the first part of the crash?...You know, when it was growing exponentially and at an insane rate? Do you really not see how following the same pattern would lead to disaster? Really?

Just paid for a new web hosting account with bitcoins yesterday.  I wasn't even looking for somewhere that accepted them, just happens that the host did.

Or does that fit into "drugs, porn, trinkets" somehow?

You know, being snarky (and pretending not to get my point) doesn't change the reality of the situation.

@evolve, if your so conviced bitcoin is going to go down, why not order some food tonight Foodler.com

That would take money off the table that would be better spent buying back into BTC when the price is low enough. The money I have on the exchanges is reserved for trading only, for now (though I have made BTC purchases in the past). I havent moved any USD into the system since my first buy in back in 2011, and I dont plan on moving anymore in now.

Eventually (once I get bored with BTC), I plan on cashing out into precious metals so I have a momento of my BTC adventures, though.

What a load of the purest bear-FUD...

Uh-huh.

No... you are right, its not possible...BTC price can only go up, uP, UP! Right?  $10,000 coins by tomorrow!!!!  We are all going to be millionaires!!!!

Don't delude yourself, it is entirely possible. If you don't realize that, you are going to be the one left holding the bag. You may think you are a bull, but you aren't.

346  Economy / Speculation / Re: Yup, still feeling bearish. on: April 17, 2013, 10:36:56 PM
My point was that yes it bubbles constantly, but each crash (or let's call it a reset) is to a higher level. So long term storage of value is always trending higher if you ignore the noise.

That's a very big assumption. This bubble may not be done popping, and who knows where it will rest. It is very possible that we will end up with a lower low than 2011.
347  Economy / Speculation / Re: Yup, still feeling bearish. on: April 17, 2013, 10:30:50 PM
i still don't know why a previous crash is being used to predict this crash.

Its not predicting the crash, though it is mapping how the crash will likely play out (which is amazingly similar to every single speculative bubble graph you see, regardless of investment vehicle).

The run up from < $20 to $266 dollars in less than 4 months is what predicted the crash.  Wink

348  Economy / Speculation / Re: Yup, still feeling bearish. on: April 17, 2013, 10:24:58 PM
Well, that would make BTC great for a speculative investment tool, but shitty for a currency or any kind store of value. If BTC is soley a speculative tool, it will not last very long.
349  Economy / Speculation / Re: Single digits believers on: April 17, 2013, 10:09:34 PM
My prediction: You will become a forever BTC bear with your above strategy.

My prediction: There are going to be a lot of people who'll wished they'd locked in profits now, because the pigs are going to get slaughtered (again).
350  Economy / Speculation / Re: Single digits believers on: April 17, 2013, 09:39:35 PM

proudhon flip flop count

bull (2011) -> permabear (2011) -> bull (2012) -> "perma"bear (2012/2013) -> bull (2013)

4 flip flops

To be fair, bear and bull are only outlooks on the current market....not underlying philosophies like people here seem to think.

When the price was low, I was a bull...at current prices I am a bear. If we hit singles or low double digits, I am likely going to be bullish again. It's not flip-flopping, it's reacting the the market. No one should be a bull or bear all the time (unless they plan on being broke).

Just a side note, a vast majority of the people around here that call themselves bulls are actually pigs.

Stolen from another thread:

I saw this image linked in another post. It perfectly illustrates the similarities between Bubble 1 and Bubble 2.

There is still money to be made on the upside potentially, but I think the second part of the crash (the second hill on the first graph, or on that speculative bubble graph that get posted here all the time) is coming.
352  Economy / Speculation / Re: Single digits believers on: April 17, 2013, 09:27:57 PM
Anyone here?

Yup.
353  Economy / Speculation / Re: Yup, still feeling bearish. on: April 17, 2013, 08:10:55 PM

It doesn't matter what you can buy, as long as there is something to buy. Drugs and porn are a good start.

Drugs and porn don't justify why the current price is so high...you could buy drugs and porn with btc a couple years ago.
354  Economy / Speculation / Re: Yup, still feeling bearish. on: April 17, 2013, 08:04:35 PM
Yeah, bitcoin is well on its way to mainstream acceptance...In fact, I was going to buy gas, groceries, rent, car payment, any basic neccesity of life, drugs, porn, and trinkets with my BTC today!  I guess, I'll just hold onto them though, because the price can only go up,uP,UP!  Roll Eyes

Dont fool yourself, this price is only justified by rampant speculation, not because metart or whoever decided to accept BTC.
355  Other / Off-topic / Re: Current exchange rate is... on: April 17, 2013, 08:00:21 PM
Current exchange rate is...< a 1 hour tattoo session from me.
356  Economy / Speculation / Yup, still feeling bearish. on: April 17, 2013, 07:48:44 PM
Investor confidence seems to be back on the rise, and some people are saying the bottom is in...I don't buy it for a second; I think its just the calm before the storm.

However, if I am wrong, and we start to bubble up again, I think the results will be catastrophic.

Neither situation is good for BTC, IMO...but I think another bubble would be much worse.

Western world are taking this even step further - now the gender also is considered only a social construction.

Not to add another derail, but sex/gender isn't binary either.

Yes, xx is female, and xy is male; but what about people that carry xxy chromosomes (Klinefelter syndrome), or xxx (triple x syndrome), or xyy (xyy syndrome), or just x without a second pair (turner syndrome), or any other gender identifying chromosome anomaly?  What would you classify them as?  What about people with both xx and xy chromosomes (hermaphrodite/intersex)? Physically they carry both male and female sexual organs, and genetically they are both male and female at the same time.

Sex and gender is not solely defined by male and female.
358  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Iran should have nukes to keep the jews in check on: April 17, 2013, 05:38:52 PM

I'm not genetics expert to show the pair in DNA who is responsible for this. But find the gene who is responsible for skin color, facial features and other measurable visual values and you get pairs who are responsible for race.

Nope. Physical characteristics mean nothing, and aren't limited by race. If a black man and white woman have a baby, and that baby comes out with fair (white) skin, freckles, and straight red hair, etc...  does that mean that kids is "white"? Does the lack of any "black" physical characteristics negate that part of his ancestry? No. Physical characteristics are fuzzy; there are no solid lines between the races.

I'm pure white. Most niggers in Africa are pure black. Most Chinese are pure Asian.

Bullshit. We are all originally of african decent (Mitachondrial DNA evidence proves this), and people of different races have been fucking each other before africa and asia were "a thing". Put down "mien kampf" and pick up a science book, asshole.

I would laugh hard about that just as every white person would do that. I don't understand why niggers are so upset about stereotypes about them and the white multiculturalists are screaming "Racism! Hate speech!" like crazy. The multiculturalists have political agenda or conspiracy to do such things.

You're either intentionally missing the point, or are increadibly dumb. Right now, I think its a toss up.

Race clearly exists on genetic scale. Why blacks have black babies born and whites have white babies? They have too much tanned in the womb? It is all about genetics. The skin color, skull form, major genetic traits are all born with race and inherited from parents. And the random genetic variations in each baby that make every human and nigger unique person.

Of course there are differences between people and those differences are heritable. But there is no "Black" gene, just like there is no "white" gene, or "asian" gene, or so on. Race is an outdated social construct where people try to group others based on a set of fuzzy traits that don't reflect genetic realty.

If race exists, show me the genetic marker that divides white people and black people. Show me the gene that makes you asian or arab.
