I haven't been paid, either.  Already sent a PM on Thursday

haha, order page says victim of its success now.

i max out at 100MB/s upstream (or downstream), the HDD doesnt seem to be able to keep up past that, or maybe it's the cpu
344  Other / Off-topic / Re: online.net's €1.99 / month dedicated server on: August 22, 2014, 04:21:15 PM
I'll give it a try looks good!! do they accept Btc as payment option?

It just gave me the option to pay via CC, but I think maybe you can use Paypal after verification?  Not sure..  No bitcoin option, though.

It was only letting me buy one, said I had hit my server quota.  But I just emailed support and got an answer in about 10 minutes about my quota limit being increased to 5.   Grin

So grabbing 4 more if I can..

ed: done, lol

kimsufi and online.net are both in france, but not same company.  just lots of big datacenters in france, germany, and NL.  digicube.fr is really cheap as well.  a place called oneprovider is online.net's reseller, they have some decent deals on there also (paris location)

i prefer hetzner to kimsufi/ovh/online.net, though.  in general, you'll be able to find the better servers on hetzner for cheaper than they are listed on ovh or online.net, as long as you use the robot auctions (no setup fees)

re: this online.net 1.99 euro dedicated server, is actually on a slightly faster CPU than the kimsufi 4.99, but they still both are horrible.  it has 160GB of space vs 500GB.  it's on a '1gbps port', but, well, I'm sure a lot of people will be sharing it.

for 2 euro though, i'll give it a try.  the first month was actually pro-rated to like .60 euro, but, er, i haven't read their ToS yet in regard to cancellation policy...   so dunno if i'll have to pay at least .60 + 2 or just .60.

I'll read the site thoroughly, and make sure there is no catch. I have now a high end dedicated server that I want to get rid of as it cost over €70 per month.

What I look for is a dedicated server with a non-shared connection with atleast 1gb/s network speed and unmetered data.

Well, a dedicated 1gb/s line would cost a fortune.   I've always been able to get up to 100MB/s on my Hetzner when needed, but I think I must be lucky on who I'm sharing my port with.... though I've had 3 diff servers from them & never had a problem with at least 40MB/s.  Oneprovider resells some online.net stuff, and I always got at least 30MB/s with those.  Probably the same with online.net.

My server got setup in 9 1/2 minutes, but I'm still installing Ubuntu on it... from what other people have posted:

The linearize.py thing always craps out before it finishes for me.  I have the blockchain up to 316481 just as a 7z file, and it's 16,023,242,033 bytes vs this bootstrap from April (?)  that's 17,111,384,xxx...

ok I have to ask is thislist final, curious as its already passed the 48 hours, would like to know thanks.  also I wanted too know if I can promote affiliate sigs at other websites?
For your second question, I think that would be the best idea.  Just make sure it isn't against their rules.  Some allow referral links, some don't.

Also, I am going to change my sig up and just feature the referral (thinking I'm getting 20% tier, boggle?).

Couple reasons:  1) unsure of my status, 2) going to put my p2pools back on sig, 3) a smaller advert may even help, if all that is left is the ppl with the rly big ones.
350  Economy / Services / Re: [PrimeDice] [Highest Paid Signature] Earn Bitcoins Simply By Posting on: August 21, 2014, 05:35:54 AM
If you didn't make it to 50 posts and are being pushed out I'll handle it on a case by case basis. Just wait 2 days and PM me about that or request payment on 20 posts. Also the ref links will be usable anywhere at that rate.
Yeah, I guess it's better to be safe than sorry.  Although I'm still unsure if I should remove my sig or not.

alright, 41 out of 62 it is
351  Economy / Services / Re: [Primedice] Affiliate Program: Passively earn 20% of house edge on: August 21, 2014, 05:28:33 AM
Primedice.com site doesn't load for me.  I thought I saw earlier than this affiliate thing was closed?  I guess not... but now I can't get on Primedice.

Are the primedice.com servers located in the USA?

If not, wouldn't it still be governed by the UIGEA as a game of chance?  I assume that would then make it some civil offense to actively advertise it to US players?  Obviously forums like this are filled with people from all sorts of countries where internet gambling is perfectly legal & nobody could suggest that you were targeting US consumers with a generic ad.  But figuratively speaking, I'm guessing you'd be open to civil action if you spotted an ad on a US radio station or something, no?  (just a theoretical, this wouldn't be possible w/ a referral link)
 (I read through the ToS and it's answered there)

oh, that's something that should be fixed.  http or https://www.primedice.com/ never loads, but http and https://primedice.com are fine.

Guys idk if Stunna is online or not , i still did not get reply from him about that list. And i get alot of pm's about it . So i will post link to RAW list .

THIS LIST MIGHT NOT BE FINAL , I STILL DID NOT GET APPROVAL FROM STUNNA TO SHARE IT .
So keep that in mind. he will need to give his final word on that list. Im just posting raw list that probably won't change much for at least 1 month.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1B8NPA5HJvpYHuvFQMG7mVsqeL_AYtF9VJ9BmLz8qu6w/edit?usp=sharing

I've never been on any of the lists.  For like 4-5 months now.

I didn't request a payout this month, since my new "constructive" post total was under 50.  I was going to wait until next month.

If I'm not on this list, should I just request a payout for less than 50 posts?  (i.e. is this list actually correct now?)

 Huh

(though I also never received any message about being 'cut'...  I am slowly going through all these old posts now, I wish a moderated post had been made with announcements)
353  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BTCJam, customer support, where? on: August 20, 2014, 01:54:12 PM
this is the last time I'm going to bump this thread.  call it an advisory, if you ever plan on doing business with btcjam (btcjam.com)

btcjam id: zvs   user#: 28002

ToS:

7. Limitation of Liability
In no event shall BTCJam or its suppliers be liable for any damages (including, without limitation, damages for loss of data or profit or due to business interruption) arising out of the use or inability to use the materials on BTCJam website, even if BTCJam or a BTCJam authorized representative has been notified orally or in writing of the possibility of such damage. Additionally, BTCJam is not liable for any defamatory, offensive or illegal conduct of any user.

Because some jurisdictions do not allow limitations on implied warranties, or limitations of liability for consequential or incidental damages, these limitations may not apply to you.

(#7 ofc does not apply in this case)

8. Submissions to the Site
All remarks, discussions, ideas, concepts, know-how, techniques, graphics or other submissions communicated to BTCJam through this Site (collectively, "Submissions") will be deemed and remain the property of BTCJam, and BTCJam is entitled to use any Submission for any purpose, without restriction or compensation to the individual or group who has provided the Submission, unless any previous agreement is made between BTCJam and you or the group. BTCJam shall not be subject to any obligations of confidentiality regarding Submissions except as expressly agreed by BTCJam or as otherwise required by applicable law. Nothing herein contained shall be construed as limiting BTCJam's responsibilities and obligations under its Privacy Policy.

9. Site Terms of Use Modifications
BTCJam may revise these terms of use for its website at any time without notice. By using this website you are agreeing to be bound by the then current version of these Terms and Conditions of Use.

---------

I have once again submitted a message to "support" to remove my proof of identity and proof of residence photos due to the fact that they will never be approved as I won't be submitting the requested followup information (initially sent on July 27th, with follow-up).  Also included request to terminate my account, to remove any possible loopholes regarding the company's violation of their privacy policy (doubtful that it'd matter in this case, but not like I ever intend on using the site again).

Sending a certified letter to the business address noted on website (1 Bluxome St., San Francisco, CA 94107) detailing this same info if there isn't a response in a reasonable time frame. I'd do it immediately, but, well, don't see how it's possible to plead monetary loss and I'm damn near certain that'd be required, since this all boils down to a breach of contract... no reason to rush, maybe someone else will discover that these photos are available publicly on amazonaws.  Oh, wait..

IC3 is a bit of a joke, but I suppose I'll put some junk on there as well.  AFAIK, they don't do anything unless they've received enough complaints about a business.
354  Economy / Services / Re: [PrimeDice] [Highest Paid Signature] Earn Bitcoins Simply By Posting on: August 20, 2014, 12:14:57 PM
None of this really makes sense to me.

Why would 'affiliate' positions ever be closed?  Isn't this just a referral ID that results in you getting a percentage of the 'rake' of said referral?  I don't see the drawback for the advertising site.

This isn't like pokerstars, where everyone already knows about it..
355  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It costs $0.09 cents to send $0.24 cents of Bitcoin? Really? on: August 18, 2014, 02:54:06 PM
why not use dogecoin?  doesn't it only cost 1 doge to make a transaction, with each doge worth like 0.002?
It has the 10kb of space set aside for free transactions and another 17k for priority transactions, though... with how many DOGE blocks there are, you really don't have to pay a fee at all (unless perhaps it's an extremely large txn). I'm not sure if this is still the case or not.  I was looking through the source and it seems like the latest code has 26KB reserved for free transactions, priority or otherwise?

I have my dogecoin only set to relay transactions that pay 1 dogecoin every 1kb....  my p2pool rarely has any fees other than my own.

ed: i should preview my stuff more often. sigh.
356  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin blockchain data torrent on: August 18, 2014, 02:41:43 PM
This torrent usually is well enough seeded that normal internet lines should be easily saturated. I don't really see a reason to spam Usenet servers with data to accomplish this...

Bitcoin blockchain would be some miniscule amount of traffic to these Usenet servers.   Astraweb and Giganews and what not get terrabytes of TV shows every hour during primetime, lol.

Besides, you could just create a bitcoin binaries newsgroup for it.
357  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It costs $0.09 cents to send $0.24 cents of Bitcoin? Really? on: August 18, 2014, 02:35:29 PM
Micro payments are all relative. 25cents are way too small and unrealistic.

Tell that to the billions of people living in the third world.

yeah, but are those billions of people running servers propagating transfers?
358  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Minera v0.3.4] Your next mining dashboard is here. CPUminer/CGminer/BFGminer. on: August 18, 2014, 02:07:59 PM
Well, I see other people talking about Zeus Hurricanes, so I suppose it's all nice and dandy to talk about scrypt currencies here (only makes sense, given what the software is I suppose?),

My Zeus or Zus Hurricane X3 or Zus or Zeus *3X Hurricane or whatever it be, this is before possibly making some funky settings to get past this overclocking cockblock (?)...  doesn't seem to go higher than the 15.8 or w/e.

my jibber jabber about the situation:

Uh, it's not so hard to find the right port to use.  You probably should anyway, at least in Windows, seeing as how it defaults to 'sleeping' when idle. There are also some settings both there and in 'advanced' that you can change to improve performance.  Device manager, human interface devices as I recall (that comp in other room).

The stats before I left, after approx. 40 minutes instead of 20m or so from the screenshot:

Accepted: 560333 (114 shares)
Rejected: 4915 (0.87%)
Hardware errors: 1 (not positive how these work.. if they only occur on valid shares, or if they can occur on any hashing operation?  if it's any hashing operation, then this amount if negligible, if not, then it would translate to 0.87%, just like the rejected shares)

..and ofc I turn off that overclocking junk before I left the room.  Even with 7c electricity, it's not worth it.

Anyhow, the 0.87% DOA is luck, since I'm mining on my p2pool in Germany which I get 175ms base latency to. So ~350ms delay, including the Hurricane processing new work in less than 1ms, and my server sending out new work within 1ms.  DOGE has 60 seconds between blocks & p2pool shares are set to 15 seconds.  That's 5 interrupts per minute, so 350ms * 5 = 1750ms. Right now with six workers, the server is taking around half a millisecond to distribute work to all six.  Main reasons, 1) very few transactions (just about none besides my own, not many others paying 1 doge per 1kb as a fee I guess), 2) all of DOGE is in ramfs (I've always used ramfs because I want shit all to get swapped to disk, I'd rather have it crash), 3) I have a fast server and not some 2 virtual core VPS. ed: oops, forgot to say here that I've already set it to include more transactions, just haven't restarted it.  Anyway, after that, it'll probably average around 1ms per worker. My guess is p2pool.org gets so many DOA's because of this.... re: guy cons all these people out of money (2% fee on a bitcoin p2pool that gets like 65% efficiency) and then gets some crap Colocrossing machine that probably has 16GB of memory and a couple of SATA drives. W/ how many chumps use that, I'd be sitting on a 128GB server and have every single one of those coins in RAM, or at the very least a decent SSD drive (network settings and everything else probably isn't configured so hot either).

'k, back to the point.  Purely latency wise, 1750ms. So vs. my Dallas server that I get 40ms to (about 200ms total in dreamland, the discrepency is less when you take into account the time it takes for hardware to start working on new work etc). But in this fantasy setting, I should expect to get about 2.5% more DOA than the Dallas server & around 3% in total. Anything less is luck (or dropping difficulties), anything more is probably be downloading pr0n (well, not rly).

The HW errors, it occurred within seconds of restarting cgminer and before any shares were accepted (was raising scan time and expiry time), not even sure that's legit, but w/e. They have always been 1% or less of # of accepted shares in any 5+ hour mining session.

I got it 72 hrs ago (me and a friend made an offer on two of them in a drunken stupor).. the only time it's been offline since then is when I took it down to modify some settings.  Likewise, my friend hasn't had any crashes either.

This is on Windows, not some raspberry pi slim ubuntu or whatever it is.  I saw some guide for that and the tcp settings aren't even touched?  Boggle.

359  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Problem with Bitcoin-Qt , please help on: August 18, 2014, 09:45:27 AM
Hello!

I am using Bitcoin-qt as my wallet, but I have big problems with it.

On the pc where I have it installed, I don't have space on the SSD so I have the blockchain which is something like 24GB on a HDD.

I have a shortcut to open the program  "C:\Program Files\Bitcoin\bitcoin-qt.exe" -datadir=d:\Bitcoindata  , works like a charm.

The problem is that the loading time of the problem is HUGE, real troublesome. It can take up to 30 minutes just with the loading screen ( pic related )

i was going to say slow computer, but I guess it's probably a slow hard drive then, esp. if it's some ancient (maybe even non?) SATA

in the conf file put

checkblocks=10

(ed: oh, this part is for the person that said downloading blockchain is slow.  the checkblocks=10 will make it so it doesnt take 30 minutes to load on a slow computer or hdd)

use maxconnections=1
listen=0
addnode=5.9.24.81
addnode=107.155.104.194
addnode=106.185.32.195
addnode=178.79.173.71
addnode=94.242.57.173

those are all mine, don't care.  1st is germany, 2nd is dallas, 3rd is japan, 4th is UK, 5th is russia.  i had a 6th in israel but i'm moving it to hong kong later

when blockchain is done, change the stuff back to whatever
