3421  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Revamped PinkCoin (PC / PINK) PoS | Multipool | Fundraiser | Anonymous on: June 26, 2014, 07:25:10 AM
It has been highlighted repeatedly how a rebranding of Pinkcoin to just 'PINK' would not help the currency and would, in fact, likely hinder it considerably as there is little market penetration for this cryptocurrency anyway at this time, resulting in the vast majority of occasions 'PINK' is referenced sans 'coin' needing to then be followed up by a lengthy explanation of what one meant when referencing the word 'PINK'.

I would, however, recommend changing the exchange ticker to 'PINK' as 'PC' is almost invisible in the coin listings.

Launching a global branding exercise on the scale proposed by Barabbas is not something that he should have expected much support on. As has been highlighted already, grand plans that require major investment from the outset are far too high-risk, especially at a time when the coin needs to be demonstrating technical substance and utility before trying to grab the market's attention.

Talk about how 'PINK means this; and 'PINK means that' is asinine, as 'PINK' means little to anybody at this time. But that isn't necessarily a bad thing because you want to ensure that, when you do attempt to market the coin as a brand, it actually has more to it than a bunch of marketing guys spouting empty, meaningless slogans.

Personally, I think you'd be better off playing on the phrase "In the pink", as in "I'm in the pink" meaning healthy and full of vitality, which also allows the dual-play on the phrase "In the money", meaning wealthy, affluent.

Besides, I don't recall many occasions where I ever bought into an idea simply because someone had a promotional party. People take the freebies and walk away. How about, instead, employing a promotion that actually requires people to invest a sufficient amount of effort, willingly, to gain Pinkcoins?

A Pinkcoin they have had to do a little work for is a Pinkcoin they will value more than one just handed to them for nothing.

"But, you handsome Devil, how can we possibly create an environment whereby people who are otherwise not exposed to crypto, let alone our coin, would be willing to commit time and effort into getting Pinkcoins?" I hear you cry.

One tiny phrase should be enough to capture your attention and imagination, as well as explain the whole concept easily, are you ready for it?
.
.
.
In-app rewards.

Find a paid app that has decent, not too big though, curent exposure, enter into an agreement with the developer to incorporate some Pinkcoin as part of the purchase price for that app and have them awarded to the user as they reach particular milestones or levels.

Given that Pinkcoins are currently worth little, a 50c addition to the price of an app for X number of Pinkcoins that could be bundled along with it and paid out to the user as rewards, for spending on additional app/game functionality, or saved to their own Pinkcoin wallet, would add value to both the app and the coin.

Once proven as a working concept, then maybe consider approaching one of the big market players, like the 'Candy Crush' developer, 'King' and promote it to them as being an opportunity to offer something that no other big-name game/app brand offers, actual money rewards for playing. In that they are now a listed company, they need to be coming up with dynamic and cutting-edge developments to their product-line and what better way to be able to keep it's customers playing than by paying them?

The above example of a route you might take towards promoting the coin requires little in the way of investment costs, is low-risk and is absolutely something that can be kept within the control of the dev team. The end result has another company promoting the coin as part of their own, ongoing, product promotion. It is a synergistic solution to broadening the appeal for this coin without the need for lavish parties that are over within hours and forgotten about.

Well.. we kinda suck at marketing imho  Cheesy

Yet you have some of the best graphic design and presentation I have seen in crypto. It just needs to translate into a matched degree of utility.

Anon transactions aren't actually that desirable after all it would seem, so you need to broaden the appeal of your coin instead of narrowing it down to the type of people who seem to want Anon, if you get what I mean.

Your willingness to post bios and show the community who you are speaks volumes for the likely validity of the project. So, after earning the community's trust this way, you should be able to talk freely about the planned development schedule along with inviting ideas and suggestions that can be considered. They don't all have to work, most of them might not move the market much, but your openness will allow you the time and freedom to try new things until you find the 'killer feature' that captures the market's attention.

Put it this way, I'm certainly willing to risk losing a few BTC on a dev team that might or might not succeed, if I know that they did so openly and with every intention of trying to bring this coin out of the doldrums. I think you'll find more people will give you the chance to work unencumbered by suspicion if they see that you are genuine in your good intentions.

Not trying to be THAT guy, but CloakCoin just updated, TOR built-in, somewhat-centralized anonymous sending for now, trading through wallet, more features to come, and a developer that's active and constantly pushing out new stuff.

I don't know what 'guy' you think you might be being but, 'uninformed' appears to fit.

TOR capability is built in to all Bitcoin-based wallets. Just point your proxy setting to a local TOR session.

As Pat already pointed out a while back for Razorcoin's attempted tech coup at marketing itself over a function that was anything but unique.

Its blue and says its staking.
Network interest is - 2.2%
network stake - 10759347
Expected time - 2 days

Running win764

Everything here is go, it just doesn't do what its meant to do for me.

Similar to what I have, yet mine says staking in 2 hours.

And you leave it open and running 24/7 yes?

When you hover over the blue icon in the bottom right, what information does it give?
3426  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VRC] | VeriCoin | PoS - Dynamic Interest | SMS | ANON on: June 25, 2014, 03:12:41 PM
Pat, this is feedback of users including myself that are telling you Veri is not staking properly and its personally been like this for a month.
That is what were trying to say, its pretty obvious.

You are in the minority it would seem. Most wallet users have no issues with it. Perhaps if you posted the details of what wallet version you are running, on what system, it might help some way towards resolving your problems.

While this sounds like a good idea, the internet is a scary place. While a large number of people have genuine interest to learn more about people and devs, there is the other part of people who want details and will do damage. Look at other threads for coins that failed or someone started FUD and people go nuts posting names, address, phone numbers, etc.
I absolutely agree, but if a coin dev team are open about who they are then they can make mistakes as the project goes forward and recover from them because people are less inclined to believe they are trying to scam everyone.

Look at Litecoin, Dogecoin, Darkcoin and Vericoin. None of them have been flawless projects from the outset but if their devs had been only anonymous forum usernames the projects would have collapsed at the first problem they encountered because everyone would be assuming it was a scam.

Being open about who you are will bring a lot more tolerance and willingness to grant the benefit of the doubt when and if problems arise.
3428  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VRC] | VeriCoin | PoS - Dynamic Interest | SMS | ANON on: June 25, 2014, 03:01:47 PM
The price crashed 40%+ within 60mins, someone needs a reality check. Yes it will recover. It took a little longer to crash because of the twitter hyping.
Sure, because when your predictions are right, it's TA, when they're wrong it's 'other market forces'.

Intellectual honesty, try it on for size now and then.

The market moves because it moves, not because it forms pretty shapes in graphs.

Right on... It shall be done.

Erm, ok, that was quick. Cheesy

I really am trying to figure out what the issue with this coin is and why it isn't performing better considering you all seem very much interested in wanting to do right by everyone.

What would help this coin, as would most that want to be seen as legit, is having a known Dev team who are willing to be open about who they are and what their background is.

Given the recent collapse of Silkcoin as yet another scammy operation, I think we are seeing a shift towards the market being far more comfortable with coins that have transparency about their project.

Vericoin leads the way in this regards and are reaping the benefit of their openness.

A bio on the OP for each team-member would be a good move.

They came over en-masse from the Silkcoin thread I believe.

Every PoS wallet I've used requires you to unlock it for staking. What makes you believe otherwise?

Don't mix my words.

Which ones, these?
You Do Not Have To Encrypt/Unencrypt anything to Get Any Wallet To Stake Whatsoever!!!

Why don't you actually try encrypting the wallet then unlocking it and seeing if it stakes, that's pretty much how it works perfectly for everyone else in this thread.

I don't see how VeriBit is useful at all to drive that much fee in the dev's pocket... I mean... 1%... for real now

I believe it is 0.1% not 1%

Paying directly from the exchange is already 100% anonymous

Except for all the information that links you to your exchange account. Even if it's just an email account, that account links on to somewhere else where it has been used to register an account for you on another unrelated service and so on, whereby, over time you gave your name or a delivery address for some goods to a supplier and, bingo, that Exchange address now clearly belongs to you and any payments sent from it are, indeed, linked to you.

Yes, yes, you might have used TOR and a disposable Email address when you registered for your exchange account and all the other guff that nobody with nothing worth hiding bothers with. If so, then why bother complaining that this service does nothing for you when it clearly does a ton for everybody else.

VeriBit is not meant to replace the use of an exchange for traders, it is meant to add utility to the coin, which it does, in spades.

You re stuck in the mud at 38k mate don t you?
i rebought at 27k

You know nothing of my positions so let's not get into a pissing match because you'd end up wet and stinky. But I do love it when people like to spout off on a thread about how they bought in at X figure and sold at X time two and rebought etc. etc. I just thought I'd tell you that because clearly you're looking for approval from someone for your heroic claims so, bravo wee man, bravo, you'll be wearing long trousers in no time.

Eesh.

Now, back to a discussion worth actually having, Patrick, can you add the per/Mh/per/day rating to the multipool please?

38.2% Fibo support and rsi reversing.
Have a good trade.

Oh FFS, will you just shove it up your . . .jumper, with all the BS 'TA' bologna.

Nobody here wants to see your stupid-ass graphs with wiggle lines and 'clever' phrases that describe, well, what do they describe, oh yes, vague hand-wavy nonsense that may or may not come to pass but, either way, you'll have a reason to excuse why it didn't and a crowing i-told-you-so if it does.

Go tell it to people who have yet to grasp critical thinking and objective reasoning. I believe you might needed over in the Silkcoin thread.

I was right, massive dump/correction/pull back whatever you want to call it, it happened.

No you weren't, Mystic Meg, you 'predicted' a 'significant pull-back' was going to occur within 12 hours, yesterday morning. When that didn't happen you excused your error by claiming TA is usually right and that other factors affect the market price. Now there was a surge today, with the accompanying blow-off as expected, you want to claim you were right?

Great steaming piles of Intellectual Dishonesty.

VeriCoin - What happens next?

You get told to take your 'TA' astrology elsewhere.
