3501  Economy / Auctions / Re: Advertise on this forum - Round 89 on: July 17, 2013, 04:14:43 PM
No, kslaughter has 7 slots at 8.25 Bitcoins (BTC) per slot.

Right.

If anyone thinks that kslaughter won't pay, you can bid a lower amount. If kslaughter doesn't pay, I will probably ask the remaining highest bidders if they're interested in the slots.

May I suggest a new bidding system to theymos:

I'm planning to create a similar automated system in the future.
3502  Other / Meta / Re: AgoraCommodities Article Thread Removed from Press on: July 17, 2013, 09:37:46 AM
I restored it. It was probably deleted (not by kiba) because the link in the OP is blogspam. The discussion is good, though.
3503  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [EDU] How to leave negative feedback (Read this after you've been scammed!) on: July 15, 2013, 04:53:22 PM
am i allowed to mark neg feedback on a suspected troller?

It's allowed, but I doubt anyone is going to trust your ratings if you do that.
3504  Other / Meta / Re: Publicly posting PMs on: July 14, 2013, 06:52:45 PM
The words have different meanings, though. Compare "private interview" to "personal interview" or "private locker" to "personal locker". Something private isn't expected to be made public, but something personal is only owned by or associated with a single person, not necessarily with a strong guarantee of privacy.
3505  Economy / Auctions / Re: Advertise on this forum - Round 89 on: July 14, 2013, 06:45:26 PM
hennessyhemp's bids were false, which might have unfairly affected the price. Does anyone who bid here want to restart the auction due to this?
3506  Other / Meta / Re: Publicly posting PMs on: July 14, 2013, 06:34:48 PM
There is no restriction against it. PM = Personal Message, not Private Message.
3507  Other / Meta / Re: How come I can't post? on: July 14, 2013, 06:31:51 PM
I believe signing in counts as a "post".

True. I should change that so only failed login attempts count.
3508  Other / Meta / Re: "International Press" forum section on: July 13, 2013, 10:49:18 AM
As a compromise date format, we should use "13/07-15/15-07/2013". Then no one could possibly be confused.
3509  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Foundation Board Election Details Announced on: July 13, 2013, 04:24:35 AM
I'm not a fan of democracy, and this position isn't particularly important, but this election should be pretty interesting. It'll be the first big election in the Bitcoin ecosystem. There should be a lot of nice drama. Smiley

Has anyone announced their candidacy yet? Who do you guys think will run/win?

- gmaxwell says that he will not run
- Erik Voorhees would stand a good chance if he's interested
- Luke-Jr?
- jgarzik?
- Mike Hearn?
- casascius?
- ?
3510  Other / Meta / Re: Make kiba mod of the Press Board on: July 12, 2013, 10:19:27 PM
Doesn't the Press section already use the standard date format? What's the problem?
3511  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: CoinLenders, input.io and coinchat doesn't salt or use a strong hash algo on: July 12, 2013, 06:46:04 PM
(Keep in mind that this forum does not use a user specific salt.)

Yes, it does.

Even unimportant sites should use a reasonably strong password-hashing scheme IMO. People often use the same password for many sites, so a security breach on even an unimportant site can hurt a lot of people.
3512  Economy / Auctions / Re: Advertise on this forum - Round 89 on: July 12, 2013, 06:09:04 PM
I was referring to habeel. Your bids are fine.
3513  Economy / Auctions / Re: Advertise on this forum - Round 89 on: July 12, 2013, 05:41:01 PM
2 @ 7

You're too new and I don't know what you're advertising. I don't accept your bid.

Current state:
Slots BTC/slot Person
7 6.75 kslaughter
3514  Other / Meta / Re: Can bitcointalk.org get 2 factor authentication? on: July 12, 2013, 01:32:15 AM
Will it stop these incessant virus PMers that seem to be trading and/or hacking forum accounts?

No. 2FA is useless against phishing sites.
3515  Other / Meta / Re: [SCAM] Ongoing attempt - Phishing link send around in PM, copy of the forum on: July 11, 2013, 01:12:37 AM
This does not help much. They can use phished accounts to spam.

It's much more expensive for them to obtain phished accounts than it is for me to ban them.
3516  Other / Meta / Re: Forum Down on: July 11, 2013, 01:11:18 AM
Doesn't seem down to me. Wink
3517  Other / Meta / Re: [SCAM] Ongoing attempt - Phishing link send around in PM, copy of the forum on: July 10, 2013, 10:43:13 PM
I've adjusted the limits to make spamming more difficult.

would you let an advert for www.altcointalk.co.uk be an advert ?

( altcointalk.co.uk is only about altcoins and will help remove clutter from your forum  Smiley )

Yes.
3519  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A block with only a single transaction? on: July 10, 2013, 07:47:54 AM
If we went back in time and sabotaged this miner so that he didn't get a block, things would be exactly the same in the short-term. The blocks before and after this block would be created at the same times as they were here. Unconfirmed transactions wouldn't get confirmed any faster. Obviously it'd be even better if he accepted transactions instead of ignoring them, but he's not actually preventing transactions from being confirmed.
3520  Local / Marktplatz / Re: Trustrating - Was ist das ? on: July 10, 2013, 06:20:09 AM
In den Standarteinstellungen ist niemand aus dem deutschen Bereich drin. D.h. Standardmäßig werden von niemandem von uns die Ratings als Trusted bewertet.

phantastisch is in the default trust list. It is particularly important for non-English users to cultivate good trust lists, though; I can't effectively do it for them.
