361  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: OFAC-Sanctioned Transactions Being Censored on: December 07, 2023, 01:38:51 PM
Bad news.  Now Samourai's whirlpool is censored:  https://nitter.cz/SamouraiWallet/status/1732584009442443336.

This is the direct continuation of the initial topic opened by the OP.

I bet Uncle Sam is holding Jack by the balls so he decided to make up some vague technical reason why they can't  process coinjoin transactions. Probably a call from some 3 letter agency saying "stop processing these transactions or we'll stop you".  Grin
362  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: OFAC-Sanctioned Transactions Being Censored on: December 06, 2023, 10:10:44 PM
The major problem is converting between real crypto and CBDCs (and other government-controlled electronic money) at the same time preserving the anonymity of the real crypto wallets and the anonymity of the crypto transactions. I have been thinking about it and it seems that there are various ways to organize this conversion between real crypto and CBDCs as long as the users are allowed to transfer freely CBDCs (or other government-controlled money) from one government-controlled wallet to another without significant cost, i.e. minimal or no government taxes for such transfers. I think that if this problem is solved, then the remaining problems will be solved too.

That too.

Everybody hates FIAT but physical FIAT is a wonderful thing. Only a few realize that. Once paper money is gone, we are fucked.

Yeah, that is 100% so. Unfortunately, some countries, like EU member states for example are tightening the laws regarding cash. In some countries like Sweden, cash is almost not used at all.

I think that cash is one of the pillars of democracy, privacy and freedom. Any efforts to eliminate cash should be illegal.
363  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Which Linux distribution would you use now? on: December 06, 2023, 09:46:56 PM
I mean something even older such as Windows XP (EOL on 2014) where i see some people claim they can't use internet properly due to SSL/TLS problem.

Yeah, Win XP is really old, however this thread suggests that these issues can be solved by installing a custom browser or a new root CA:

https://www.reddit.com/r/windowsxp/comments/qv8u9k/cant_connect_to_https_with_win_xp/

Another solution I was able to find is to install an update (KB3055973-v3), which adds support for TLS 128-bit & 256-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) cipher suites. After that, you should be good to go and no OS update is necessary.
364  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: December 06, 2023, 09:25:09 PM
or use the hard courts to build game fitness and play at 80% for example, surely he has to
realise that he has to pick his moments now, he cannot play at 100% for a full season at this
stage in his career
?

Indeed, no older player can play the entire season. Djokovic also has to rest more frequently and choose tournaments wisely.

Speaking about positive aspects for Nadal, I should mention that AO courts are the slowest among hard court GS tournaments and therefore more similar to.. clay! I still can't forget the AO final of 2017: the modern classic Nadal v Federer. IMO it's one of the best (if not the best) matches of all time! That 5 set thriller was won by Roger 6–4, 3–6, 6–1, 3–6, 6–3 but Rafa deserved to win as much as Roge,r he just got a bit unlucky in the final set.
365  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Quit gambling and Invest in gambling. on: December 06, 2023, 08:49:51 PM
I am a discipline and a responsible gambler but tend to quit gambling somedays.
I think I am going to be missing the whole fun of it but if I would find it difficult keeping total off it, I have thought of going around the gambling grounds (gambling tables) with a logical lucrative planning to taking advantage over the gambling tables though am not gonna be a partaker in the gambling anymore.

How do I take advantages over the gambles while I am not gambling anymore?
I tend to invest in the gambling. How?
At my visits in the gambling grounds, I will be lending my funds to the losers who has run out of  funds and willing to bet more if they have more money.
I tends to make this a deal with interest charges with concrete agreement to be secured and I will be opened to also accepting collaterals.

I verily know that I will succeed more of the inexperienced and those gamblers who doesn't have gambling budgets including those who can't take control over their gambling emotions

Depends on your location but this can be dangerous, even your life might be at risk. You will require a good security team. Gamblers is such situations may lose control easily. Another concern is how are you planning to guarantee the collection of your loans? Collateral is one thing, but what if there's none?
366  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Beginner needs your advices in gambling. on: December 06, 2023, 08:20:49 PM
I’m a new member here, and I want to gamble on online casinos. I found some good trusted casinos. And I want to begin with a game with a low budget. First, I need your suggestions about the best games, slots. Live casino for a beginner.
Do you think Me starting gambling would effect me in my real life or make me addicted to gambling. What’s you suggestion and advices.

I wonder why do you consider to start gambling? Do you expect to win big or become a pro in poker for example and make it your side hustle?

Of course you can get addicted. Unless you only gamble occasionally and don't have big expectations. For example, I'm only gambling for fun, I have no goals associated with gambling and I mostly do sports betting.
367  Economy / Economics / Re: You are the product. Corporations spying on us deeper than we thought? on: December 05, 2023, 08:18:49 PM
Hmm lets just separate this kind of topic about on trying out to correlate Bitcoins privacy thing considering that we are really that trying out to make talks or explains about those companies are really that
trying to hear off on what are the words that we are basically be discussing on the sense that they did really come into a point that even on just talking beside with your phone with other people
does automatically giving out suggestions basing up on what you had discussed. When it comes to privacy then it do really crosses out that line because it does really remove out that real essence
of privacy.

It do really just turns out that they are really that desperate on trying to hook up buyers or clients basing up on what they are looking for. They do really need to reach out
into that kind of certain extent for the sake of profits or revenue on which this is something not ethical to be done anymore. If this one had been proved out then people would be making out those discussions and casual talking which they might be turning off their phones.  Grin
Not many people can afford to turn off their phones frequently. Many are using their phones for business and are waiting for important calls. Turning off a phone can ruin their business.

To me it's kinda clear that it's already happening. Just would like to know how is that possible.
368  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Which Linux distribution would you use now? on: December 05, 2023, 07:40:37 PM
Perhaps,
1. OS you used isn't that old.
2. There's background application which regularly obtain new trusted certificate.
3. The browser remain up to date even though it's on old OS.
Windows Server 2008R2 is pretty old, it went EOL back in 2020. Browsers are not always up to date on older OSs. I've seen Chrome and Firefox failing to update because new version is not supported by old OS.

Quote from: ETFbitcoin
No critical vulnerabilities is impossible, although no hacker target that server sounds plausible.
Again, from my experience Linux kernels are pretty solid and it's quite hard to get access to it remotely, unless an admin makes a mistake and leaves something open or remote access software like openssh has a vulnerability. So perhaps even if it's a "critical vulnerability" it's almost impossible to compromise such system remotely.
369  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: OFAC-Sanctioned Transactions Being Censored on: December 05, 2023, 02:21:18 PM
Just learned about this. Big if true and it looks like it is. If they can censor any tx they want, since there is no business which don't demand KYC, then bitcoin and the legacy banking are pretty much the same thing  now. That's what I was afraid of.

They are getting bitcoin ready for the ETF approval.

Bitcoin is getting "institutionalized".

They are kiling mixers, punishing CZ/Ronaldo, censoring transactions, letting no no-KYC business survive...

Not looking good.

Everybody who cheered for the Blackrock ETF should rethink their actions imo.

Yeah, I agree. There will be some privacy penalty for huge fiat gains. It's inevitable. But I guess it's a reasonable trade-off and we're lucky they're not planning to ban Bitcoin. After so many years, staying poor but free doesn't seem enticing to me.  Grin

If you're still unsure, just try creating a new account or order a debit card from some exchange (say Coinbase). It's mission impossible if you can't provide proof of employment and source of funds. Where are the good old days?  Roll Eyes
370  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: December 05, 2023, 12:29:09 PM
It could be a lack of funds which is why Djokovic is involved with his career. There is
talent there but if there is no funds he isnt going to be able to play.

On a separate note Nadal has confirmed he will be back playing at Brisbane in January,
obviously in preparation for the Australian Open. He obviously believes he is both fit
and ready for next season and that he can win the AO and potentially Brisbane even
if it is to be used to get back up to playing fitness.

I have mixed feeling regarding the Nadal news. If I were him, I'd miss Australia and get ready for the clay season. Hard surfaces are too harsh for his body and he may get injured again. In Melbourne, hard courts are quite slow according to some players and that adds extra stress on his knees, ligaments etc.
371  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic Implications of War on Individuals on: December 04, 2023, 09:07:32 PM
The second point is perfectly correct, and is confirmed by modern practice. The "ideal example" is Ukraine, where the pro-Russian President Yanukovych, during his term of office, did everything to extremely weaken the armed forces of Ukraine, demoralize the forces, deprive them of the necessary reserves to wage a defensive war.... The result you know - 2014, Russia's terrorist attack on Ukraine, and this terrorist war continues for the 10th year....
Yes, the last (to this day) legitimate president of Ukraine Yanukovych killed no one. Pro-American junta leader Zelensky killed or mutilated over 1 million people. Can you feel the difference?

You start making things up again - the war started in February 2022 not in 2014.
372  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: December 04, 2023, 06:59:51 PM
The matches that I saw were quite enjoyable, there was actually some very good Tennis
played by all from what I saw, and yea if I were in the top 20 and looking at the competitors
I wouldnt be too worried facing them...

Its going to be different from year to year and there will be ebbs and flows in terms of
talent from year to year.

Well done to Medjedovic for taking the final as under dog, he did very well to bounce back
after losing the first set, Djokovic will be happy too !

Medjedovic did a good job against Fils! Future seems bright for him, he is guaranteed to enter top 100 next year if the goes on like this. The Serb is 20 yo but surprisingly he only started playing challenger grade tournaments last year (technically last year but he only played a single tournament in Germany). Any ideas why? Is he a late bloomer or is it because of lack of funds (typical #1 issue for many talented junior players)?
373  Economy / Economics / Re: Is energy prices about to shoot up? on: December 04, 2023, 06:01:25 PM
Read your posts in other threads, about the unacceptable rise in gas prices and other nonsense, where you even cited some photos from the fence Smiley.
Let's start from the beginning. This topic, opened by respected pooya87, concerns the issue of hydrocarbons ... And then you suddenly "jump" from the topic, where as always you shit yourself, and instead of gas you cite information not about the EU, but about one country, where POSSIBLY, in the FUTURE year, will raise ... the cost of electricity Smiley
Yeah, says the person who is derailing all threads he participates in and posts his useless crap about "how bad Russia is doing" no matter what the subject is. You always refuse to acknowledge evidence. You never mention sources. A typical troll.

Quote from: DrBeer
And you, in the above article, just read the headline, but did not read the article itself, as always Smiley
And the article says that if you don't like the tariffs of this provider... choose another one Smiley
What difference does it make if all tariffs are going up? You will end up paying more. 30 or 40% more but you will pay more than last year.

Quote from: DrBeer
That should have been the end of it, but I will add: you cited a great article about the EU, except that you forgot to mention that the article talks about, and clearly states that this was happening.... early 2023 Smiley Accidentally forgot to note ? It's now the end of 2023, and you can find charts of EU prices at the current time. I have cited from several times for a reason, where indeed from spring 2022 to the first half of 2023, prices were high, for reasons known to all, and then.... the graphs go down.
At least I'm citing some articles, unlike you! When was last time you provided a source for your information? Mostly made-up "facts" with no sources and zero credibility.

Quote from: DrBeer
Bottom line: all your pathetic and primitive attempts to manipulate the data are easily verifiable, and cause nothing but laughter Smiley
Well that's really cool. You're having good time, laughing while your compatriots are dying in Donbas? Great success! BTW, when are you planning to join them, huh?
374  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Money laundering in crypto casino on: December 04, 2023, 11:49:28 AM
We all know the recent issue about the mixer status here in the forum. Crypto casino is also being use for money laundering by some criminals that’s why every casino has AML policy.

I’m just curious what will be the fate of crypto casino once money laundering activity from mixer will jump to casino now that mixer will not be advertised here which means it has less exposure. Is there any possibility that crypto casino will be seized by the government just like what happened to mixers in case they failed to screen the laundering activity?

I don't think such fate awaits crypto casinos. Online casinos have been around even before crypto emerged and they have always been considered high-risk businesses. Yet nobody tried to ban casinos completely. This is possibly because unlike gambling, the sole purpose of mixers is to "launder" Bitcoin.
375  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Which Linux distribution would you use now? on: December 03, 2023, 08:15:01 AM
Aside from security, you might face unexpected behavior after long time it receive last update. For example,
  • Repository or website which host software for your OS no longer exist.
  • Some application cannot use internet connection properly due to certificate problem.
Yes, official repos may go down after some time. But like in case of Centos 6 there are some archive or even 3rd party repos you can continue using.

I'm mostly using systems with no GUI but I'm yet to see an OS which can't connect to the internet because it's too old. Until recently I was running a Windows 2008R2 machine which was complaining all the time and the browser stopped updating but you could connect anyway.

Quote from: ETFbitcoin
What exactly do you mean by rock solid? Rarely crash?
Yeah, that, and also security-wise. Firewall keeps working, kernel has no critical vulnerabilities. Ar least they weren't exploited. Of course, I wouldn't run something connected with finance, payment processing, health, military or some other sensitive data on such a machine.
376  Economy / Economics / Re: Fuel prices hitting an eight year high on: December 02, 2023, 06:40:32 PM
If this were pointless, then the Kremlin would not be screaming about the fall in income,
Do you hear them whining? Where? Perhaps you can provide some sources? Ahh, I forgot, you never provide sources! And "screaming" you hear is in your head most probably...

Quote from: DrBeer
Now we have figured out the operating scheme of the “shadow fleet”, identified the participants and the scheme, and “the crown is closing”, and it is no longer profitable for buyers, and no one needs Russian oil at the price of the Middle East Smiley
Now, this is interesting... Who are "we" you are referring to?

Quote from: DrBeer
And this is easy to see even according to official data:
- The revenue of the largest oil and gas companies in Russia fell by 41% in January-September 2023, the Central Bank of the Russian Federation reported on Thursday in its Financial Stability Review. Report of the Central Bank of Russia, everyone can read it Smiley http://cbr.ru/Collection/Collection/File/46610/2_3_q_2023.pdf
Fell by 41% compared to what? Last year's top? But I've actually translated the document and it's mostly positive news there.

Quote from: DrBeer
- And the most positive news: Sanctions will last for years - the United States intends to halve Russia’s current oil and gas revenues by 2030.
This is actually good news for Russia. It means sanctions can't hurt them and Russia won't disintegrate into any small states or some other apocalyptic crap you're spreading won't happen. But the question is: will Ukraine still be around in 2030?
377  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Math and Gambling on: December 02, 2023, 12:01:29 AM
Gambling is known to be a game of pure luck but also probability, that's if you are good at math, this is what a fellow employee said to me, he then told me to look Chris Ferguson up, to my surprise this man won millions in gambling using math, I read this man is really good at math,

He created his own gambling strategy for poker completely on math and game theory instead of trying to focus monitoring the players, this man won five world series bracelets 🤦 and over 8 millions dollars in gambling tournaments.

There is also another man called James Simons, who is named the greatest gambler of all, he made more money using math than Chris Ferguson, James net worth is over 20 billions, I was shocked, because I use to think it's impossible to gamble using any skills, this is a skill on a another level, I am mad that I am just knowing this not too long ago.

School is not important as 96% of what you learn won't be used in the real world to make money, but this 4% left is making a lot of people rich, math and gambling seems to go with each other, what do you guys think? Am I wrong or right?

Yes, I agree, in some games like poker for example, math can help you a lot. I have also heard about many poker personalities who are very good at math. Poker is actually based on math, there's even term "poker math". Poker is all about probability and statistics, so if you're good at math you should be able to quickly calculate the probability of your hand. The only thing which makes poker math harder is bluffing. So if you're good at bluffing you can potentially win a person who is good at math.  Cool
378  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why sports betting? on: December 01, 2023, 11:42:02 PM
With hundreds or probably thousands of games online, I'd like to ask why would you choose sports betting?

I believe that sports betting has become more popular here in the forum since most gambling sites, our reputable gambling sites are already sports betting on the menu. So, out of curiosity ( don't want to assume), what are the reasons why you fall in love with sports betting?

Moreover, I like to know if you really believe you can win in sports betting in the long run, or you just really think no chance because every game can be win by luck, sports betting is not exemption.

I prefer sports betting because it's the only type of gambling which is always truly provably fair. You can't fake sports results, you can always check the results on any sports website. Additionally, some experience and in-depth knowledge of the sport you're betting on as well as some insider info may help you. Such things are useless if you're playing casino games for example.
379  Economy / Economics / Re: Fuel prices hitting an eight year high on: December 01, 2023, 10:51:12 PM
Despite the hysterical attempts of Russian propaganda to come up with at least some kind of fairy tale, how oil prices will rise and everyone will freeze without Russian gas - the market stubbornly shows that reality is far from propaganda Smiley

1. Today, Urals oil, "here and now" is below $70. But at this price, no one buys it. China is buying up the surplus already at a price of 32.5 - 34 dollars per barrel, with logistics costs on the supplier's side Smiley
2. Last week, after the visit of high-ranking US representatives to India, India reduced the purchase of Russian oil by 40% Smiley

China and India are Russia's "best friends"  Grin

Urals was trading at $90 per barrel when Brent prices were around $120 per barrel. But the discount narrowed later, as Asian countries rushed to purchase the cheaper Russian crude. And it narrowed even further as the EU nations went on a shopping spree recently, to fill their oil reserves before the embargo on Russian crude is applied. Here in India, the private refineries are complaining that the discount for Russian crude is not attractive enough to pay for the higher freight costs. And that is the reason why India recently reduced Russian crude imports.

It should be understood that today's price of Urals crude oil is largely indicative, but it is not the price that Russia receives in its budget. Let me explain. For example, let the declared price be 100 dollars. But now most of the oil is bought for yuan and rupees. Yes, they are somehow recalculated into a "virtual dollar", but the facts are that Russia does not receive any dollars.  Moreover, even with the same rupees there are a lot of problems !
Even the head of Rosneft complained about sanctions and blamed the Central Bank for the hang-up of export proceeds in India....

At the same time, sanctions against the "gray fleet" have led to a surge in freight prices: to rent a ship to India, which has become the largest buyer of Russian oil, now costs $10-11 million, although in early October it was $8 million, and in September - only $5 million. This situation presses on the price of Russian grade Urals, which is again sold at a discount of about $20 to the North European benchmark Brent. Last week, the price of Russian oil fell below $60 per barrel, while the government has budgeted $71 in the 2024 budget.
https://www.moscowtimes.ru/2023/11/30/sechin-pozhalovalsya-na-sanktsii-protiv-rosnefti-i-problemi-s-vozvratom-viruchki-ot-eksporta-a114678

I.e. it is not the price of oil that is rising, but the price of "gray transportation" costs

I guess you don't realize that it's a pointless, never-ending fighting with consequences? Close this sales channel, Russia will come up with 2 new ones. They have already mixed oil with other brands in order to trick the sanction system and done some other similar stuff. Sanctions are not working, it's EU and US suffocating themselves, nothing more.
380  Economy / Economics / Re: Goverments must have good plan very soon on: December 01, 2023, 10:15:07 PM
Anyone who you know know someone who don't have money no Jobs.
People cant afford the housing cant pay bills and goverment just watching no actions.
It's all falling down the landlords soon can't pay utilities becouse of rent debts.
I have friend who use to rent out apartments and now he can't collect Even rent money people don't that have coused Him problems and he have to sell his second car but even with low price hard to sell car.
Things going bad shops around the world just put prices up to cover stolen funds people steal from the shops like never before soon all the shops must be protected by military.
Anyone knows plans how to make us normal again the property time like was covid19 when Money and wealth was normal thing.
World is very close to martial law when military will secure streets police not enough becouse poverty change people

But this not what we use to we are use to with Luxury and good life people don't Understood how to live If wealthy life is not the essence.

Only way will be unite and trust each others If elite dont start support people average people can collect their own funds and use cryptocurrency If fiat system falling.

But goverments should have some plan i wait airdrop of money for each people AT least 2000-3000$ without working ubi income

If you still have any illusion regarding government I can tell you: they have no plan. They don't know what they are doing. It's true for pretty much every government in the world. The best that they can do is take more loans and print more money. That is their only plan.
