the memes here aint what they used to be.

i guess people here have matured or maybe the whole thing hasn't been violent enough. i wonder if movements are permanently quelled or this is a breather before something big.

Or people aren't here to cheer for 800$... 8000$ maybe...  Cheesy

Regarding the actual heist, whether that was an inside job or not remains a bit of a mystery.

They had nearly 120,000 user coins go missing, which represented about $72 million dollars in value at the time (120k x $600).  They stated that represented about 36% of all user assets/funds on their site, which would be about $2billion.

Minus a zero (200mn).

http://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-price-triple-2017-saxo-bank-prediction/ What do you guys think of this news?
Is there a possibility of this prediction to come true?

yes. or it could be $2 or $200,000. most experts were predicting $4000 plus for 2014. that didn't quite happen.

2$ won't happen either. Reason being the difficulty in mining and the associated costs of producing a coin:

it is interesting, why steemit dont use advertising selling on steemit platform? it can interested a lot of investors. Also it will help to support sbd withou steem dump.

Ad revenue would be so little to sustain Steem or SBD price that it's not worth the inconvenience for the users.

In my opinion the best solution is to have an ad-free experience for logged-in users, but display ads to non-logged-in users. I'm not talking anything big though - discrete, small ads that simply bring some extra revenue.

1) It creates an incentive to sign up
2) It breaks the closed loop economy
3) It keeps the promise of no ads for its users
4) It monetizes the content already existing in the blockchain, allowing new possibilities like residual income for older content

@iamnotback or @smooth

Why do curation rewards percentage decreases when people upvote a post before the 30 min mark?  Most curation rewards on the platform are below 5% of the total payouts per post...no wonder why there is only bots curating...

It is done to allow humans time to read the posts, otherwise only bots would curate.

Initially it didn't matter. So within 1-2-5 seconds bots had upvoted everything they deemed OK to vote. Humans were disadvantaged.

An artificial delay was introduced where if you vote too early, you lose some of your curation reward.

It goes like 3% per minute. If you vote in the first minute you keep only 3% of the curation reward that you'd normally have. If you vote in the fifteenth minute you get 50%. If you vote in the 29th minute you get 97% and after 30 minutes, curation reward is at 100%.

Btw, curation is alive and well for humans.

The effort the Elite expends to create problems for their targets, is simply mind-blowing... In most cases the depth of the design cannot even be comprehended by close family members, especially if they are somewhat "thick", or if they subconsciously resent admitting their relatives brilliance that painted a target on their back...

In some cases it's better to deal with these things internally, at least until the situation escalates to possible disruptions (like you had) or even assassination threats/attempts - where one has nothing to lose by speaking up.

The US elections should be pretty irrelevant to what BTC does: The policies are typically unaffected by the puppets elected, no matter what they've promised.

its just the idea that america is 1 step closer to " being gr8 again " thats what will fuel the markets.

Haven't the markets learned from "Change"? Now they believe in "MAGA"?

The biggest bullish indicator is that most people are still "meeeh" with this rise, expecting significantly higher rises to even get excited Cheesy

Same applies for me I guess. 1000+ would start doing something for my excitement levels. +50/-50, who* cares Tongue

* I guess leveraged traders do.

Somewhat relevant: https://steemit.com/blockchain/@dantheman/a-better-approach-to-turing-complete-smart-contracts

The performance difference is impressive. And it also allows for zero-fee txs/contracts (I guess until someone finds a way to spam it).

380  Economy / Speculation / Re: Last correction before 700+ breakout on: October 25, 2016, 09:50:27 PM
Classic triangle pattern forming if you look back at the last big august correction. Then we had another correction, a weaker one, and now, another weaker one. Increasingly weaker corrections with an overall uprising price: breakout incoming. Last chance for the idiots still doubting to buy to get in now or never.

r0ach or anyone, do you have any analysis you can share on the likely direction of the BTC price between now and December?

I had written in your blog last month that this looks like a pause on the way for probably all time highs, given a cpu&handle at $700. What are you seeing in your current analysis?

Personally I'm not into technical analysis, but I consider the high 700's as a possible scenario before year's end.
