3741  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Backup wallet with Wuala on: April 14, 2011, 09:23:56 AM
Wuala accepts Bitcoin and I think it’s actually cheaper than with USD, by the way.
3742  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Potential New Bitcoin Ventures on: April 14, 2011, 01:03:32 AM
Nice to see some ambition. Cheesy I’ll leave feedback on some ventures.

Bitcoin Futures and Options Exchange
No clue on the current situation.
Quote
Bitcoin Lottery
Already done, see http://www.bitlotto.com/ and http://taabl.datlatec.com/.
Quote
Bitcoin Casino
Be sure to check https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Trade#Gambling_sites. I think there’s great potential here for a nice real gambling application though.
Quote
Bitcoin Escrow and Arbitration Service
There’s https://clearcoin.appspot.com/ and it’s in good (Gavin’s) hands.
Quote
Bitcoin Stock Exchange
Will be released soon by Nefario.
Quote
Bitcoin iPhone App
Absolutely, whether that be a wallet or just a Bitcoin based game. Search the forums for already existing attemps though, I think I saw something recently. It’d be better to join up instead of having two projects imo.

KickStarter for Bitcoin
I think the stock market would suffice for the current needs.
Quote
Bitcoin Bank and/or Credit Union
That is pretty huge, but if you can do it, go for it. Bank would be essentially an ewallet, right? Make sure to check mybitcoin.com in this case.
Quote
Bitcoin Credit Ratings
There’s http://bitcoin-otc.com/, but integration with social networks would definitely be nice.
Quote
Bitcoin Bond Market
Good idea, there’s certainly demand for an automated solution at the moment, although I think that will be covered by the upcoming stock market, too.
Quote
Bitcoin Shopping Cart and Business Solutions
This is needed the most in my opinion. Merchants are still having trouble setting Bitcoin up.
3743  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcoin Poker Room on: April 11, 2011, 02:44:13 AM
I find it annoying too, as it spams the twitter search for bitcoin. It would be okay if it was less frequent though.
3744  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Earn 34BTC or 20-21BTC for getting shops/organisations to accept Bitcoin on: April 10, 2011, 02:28:38 AM
There’s no reason to put Bitcoin on a seperate wiki page that noone will see. I’ll pay when it’s a default payment on https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Donate_or_Pay_Dues.
3745  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another Noob perspective - drawbacks and potential growth opportunities on: April 09, 2011, 04:13:39 PM
I agree with you in most points and hope that you can help Bitcoin going from here, but you have to consider that those PayPal fees have a very good reason: Fraud.
You can’t chargeback Bitcoins, but PayPal money you can, and PayPal is unlikely to cooperate with the seller in this fraud scenario. In addition to this, there are people with stolen credit cards wanting to buy Bitcoins. For these reasons, the current limitation in amount and fee are totally understandable (see http://coinpal.ndrix.com/).

You would have a real advantage if you could sort that out with PayPal though, so that you as a seller can prove you’re right and get the money back.
3746  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Buying 200k BTC. $2/BTC on: April 09, 2011, 10:58:39 AM
For the start just buy the >50k BTC on MtGox which are all well below 2$.
3747  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin.org Redesign (mockups inside) on: April 07, 2011, 05:51:27 PM
I’m all for tcatm. We should make it "The total eventual circulation will be 21 million bitcoins, currently divisible to 0.00000001." though.
3748  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Selling Portal and Bioshock! on: April 07, 2011, 02:20:41 AM
I think you've got the wrong forum.
You’re misunderstanding him, he’s stating he has no Bitcoins and wants some.

Revision: I’ll bid 10 BTC for Bioshock.
3749  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Leasing mining rig time? and possibly solution to chargebacks on: April 07, 2011, 02:08:38 AM
This idea has a lot of potential.

I don't know why someone hasn't setup a gpu leasing site yet to let anyone do this

I wonder if you could do it through eBay?

What about https://www.bitcoinrigs.com/products/Rig-Rental-Service.html
3750  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if bitcoins were used in high-frequency trading? on: April 06, 2011, 08:20:59 PM
do you want to see how is the future of bitcoin + regulations ?
see paypal ... no thanks

What’s your problem? You don’t have to use the exchange. Bitcoin will NOT be that decentralized if it will be widespread because people like convenience. Most people don’t want to backup their wallets, be their own bank etc. Seriously, what do you guys imagine?

The real difference with bitcoin is: You have the freedom to be your own bank.
3751  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if bitcoins were used in high-frequency trading? on: April 06, 2011, 08:02:10 PM
So what, Atlas? Should we abandon important opportunities like these just so you can have a greater e-penis for not relying on any established institutions?

We need this for further acknowledgement of Bitcoin as well as incoming funds, and I don’t care about any ideologic views that may suffer from it. They are just a hindrance.
3752  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if bitcoins were used in high-frequency trading? on: April 06, 2011, 07:48:04 PM
Call me a dreamer but I would like Bitcoin to demonstrate anarcho-capitalism. You know, without government involvement?
Keep dreaming.

I totally agree with S3052.
3753  Economy / Marketplace / Re: 20 Bitcoin for a good name on: April 06, 2011, 03:48:55 PM
BitcoinGlobal, sounds like an evil corporation... I'm liking the sound of it.
I agree, although I don’t like the "Global" in Global Stock Exchange. It sounds too … conventional.

What about, instead:

Terra/Terrestrial
Earth
World
Human/Humanity
Orbit
Cosmos/Cosmic
Universe/Uni
Dominance
3754  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Now is the time to BUY BUY BUY! on: April 05, 2011, 04:58:53 PM
Blitz,

i'm happy to pay for BTC in any form one wants.  where do i find reasonable prices and easy transactions?  i want to make a large buy.
I think it’s best to check out the other deposit options on MtGox or come to #bitcoin-otc on freenode, which is an over-the-counter exchange. Or buy directly in the Marketplace forum, of course.

How much do you want to buy approximately?
3755  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Now is the time to BUY BUY BUY! on: April 05, 2011, 04:51:43 PM
I agree. Bitcoin is getting much media attention at the moment, and the rate+reach of news seems to be accelerating. Time to stock up on BTC.

how do i buy at a reasonable price?  i looked at Mt.Gox and he wants a 7% commission on Paypal transactions which is ridiculous!  i wish to make a large buy too.  anyone interested in selling to me directly?
People usually charge more at PayPal orders because of fraud risk (stolen credit card, chargebacks). You have better options with non-chargeback payment methods like Liberty Reserve, Bank Transfers, mail etc.
3756  Bitcoin / Press / Re: Bitcoin press hits, notable sources on: April 05, 2011, 01:50:47 PM

3757  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: NEEDED URGENTLY: Professional Bitcoin Exchange and More Serious Project Work on: April 05, 2011, 11:28:14 AM
I totally agree. Instead of arguing about politics and details for pages and pages, you could invest your time in promoting Bitcoin, contributing to bounties, doing whatever you can to help the economy.

My feeling is that few people understand that they have influence over Bitcoin’s value. You can help by joining this thread, for example.
3758  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: selling drugs and money laundering: the potential downfall of bitcoin on: April 05, 2011, 02:52:23 AM
The difference is you can’t shut down Bitcoin. If it really gathers so much interest in the black market, demand will shoot up and wouldn’t decrease despite whatever the government is trying to do.

There is demand for illegal goods and Bitcoin provides a way to fulfill it. You can do nothing to stop this.
3759  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: selling drugs and money laundering: the potential downfall of bitcoin on: April 05, 2011, 02:47:06 AM
Yeah, we should totally ban them, this is illegal! Angry

Seriously, it has to start there. They need something like Bitcoin. If you want to decrease their influence on the currency, get legitimate businesses to accept Bitcoin now.

I am very fine with demand, no matter where it comes from. If Bitcoin catches on in this field, it will be a success.

Pecunia non olet.
3760  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Technical Analysis on: April 04, 2011, 11:24:08 PM
No problem in the short term. In the long term, trust would drop and that is the only thing that gives Bitcoin value.

Also, it can be a problem regarding the network’s hashrate and therefore overall security; if the price drops too low, mining incentive will certainly be reduced. A weak network isn’t exactly easy to trust, either.
