Wuala accepts Bitcoin and I think it’s actually cheaper than with USD, by the way.

Nice to see some ambition. I’ll leave feedback on some ventures. Bitcoin Futures and Options Exchange No clue on the current situation. Bitcoin Lottery Already done, see http://www.bitlotto.com/ and http://taabl.datlatec.com/. Bitcoin Casino Be sure to check https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Trade#Gambling_sites. I think there’s great potential here for a nice real gambling application though. Bitcoin Escrow and Arbitration Service There’s https://clearcoin.appspot.com/ and it’s in good (Gavin’s) hands. Bitcoin Stock Exchange Will be released soon by Nefario. Bitcoin iPhone App Absolutely, whether that be a wallet or just a Bitcoin based game. Search the forums for already existing attemps though, I think I saw something recently. It’d be better to join up instead of having two projects imo. KickStarter for Bitcoin I think the stock market would suffice for the current needs. Bitcoin Bank and/or Credit Union That is pretty huge, but if you can do it, go for it. Bank would be essentially an ewallet, right? Make sure to check mybitcoin.com in this case. Bitcoin Credit Ratings There’s http://bitcoin-otc.com/, but integration with social networks would definitely be nice. Bitcoin Bond Market Good idea, there’s certainly demand for an automated solution at the moment, although I think that will be covered by the upcoming stock market, too. Bitcoin Shopping Cart and Business Solutions This is needed the most in my opinion. Merchants are still having trouble setting Bitcoin up.

I find it annoying too, as it spams the twitter search for bitcoin. It would be okay if it was less frequent though.

I agree with you in most points and hope that you can help Bitcoin going from here, but you have to consider that those PayPal fees have a very good reason: Fraud. You can’t chargeback Bitcoins, but PayPal money you can, and PayPal is unlikely to cooperate with the seller in this fraud scenario. In addition to this, there are people with stolen credit cards wanting to buy Bitcoins. For these reasons, the current limitation in amount and fee are totally understandable (see http://coinpal.ndrix.com/). You would have a real advantage if you could sort that out with PayPal though, so that you as a seller can prove you’re right and get the money back.

For the start just buy the >50k BTC on MtGox which are all well below 2$.

I’m all for tcatm. We should make it "The total eventual circulation will be 21 million bitcoins, currently divisible to 0.00000001." though.

I think you've got the wrong forum.
You’re misunderstanding him, he’s stating he has no Bitcoins and wants some. Revision: I’ll bid 10 BTC for Bioshock.

do you want to see how is the future of bitcoin + regulations ? see paypal ... no thanks
What’s your problem? You don’t have to use the exchange. Bitcoin will NOT be that decentralized if it will be widespread because people like convenience. Most people don’t want to backup their wallets, be their own bank etc. Seriously, what do you guys imagine? The real difference with bitcoin is: You have the freedom to be your own bank.

So what, Atlas? Should we abandon important opportunities like these just so you can have a greater e-penis for not relying on any established institutions?
We need this for further acknowledgement of Bitcoin as well as incoming funds, and I don’t care about any ideologic views that may suffer from it. They are just a hindrance.

Call me a dreamer but I would like Bitcoin to demonstrate anarcho-capitalism. You know, without government involvement?
Keep dreaming. I totally agree with S3052.

BitcoinGlobal, sounds like an evil corporation... I'm liking the sound of it. I agree, although I don’t like the "Global" in Global Stock Exchange. It sounds too … conventional. What about, instead: Terra/Terrestrial Earth World Human/Humanity Orbit Cosmos/Cosmic Universe/Uni Dominance

Blitz,
i'm happy to pay for BTC in any form one wants. where do i find reasonable prices and easy transactions? i want to make a large buy.
I think it’s best to check out the other deposit options on MtGox or come to #bitcoin-otc on freenode, which is an over-the-counter exchange. Or buy directly in the Marketplace forum, of course. How much do you want to buy approximately?
|
|
|
I agree. Bitcoin is getting much media attention at the moment, and the rate+reach of news seems to be accelerating. Time to stock up on BTC. how do i buy at a reasonable price? i looked at Mt.Gox and he wants a 7% commission on Paypal transactions which is ridiculous! i wish to make a large buy too. anyone interested in selling to me directly?
People usually charge more at PayPal orders because of fraud risk (stolen credit card, chargebacks). You have better options with non-chargeback payment methods like Liberty Reserve, Bank Transfers, mail etc.

I totally agree. Instead of arguing about politics and details for pages and pages, you could invest your time in promoting Bitcoin, contributing to bounties, doing whatever you can to help the economy. My feeling is that few people understand that they have influence over Bitcoin’s value. You can help by joining this thread, for example.

The difference is you can’t shut down Bitcoin. If it really gathers so much interest in the black market, demand will shoot up and wouldn’t decrease despite whatever the government is trying to do.
There is demand for illegal goods and Bitcoin provides a way to fulfill it. You can do nothing to stop this.
|
|
|
Yeah, we should totally ban them, this is illegal! Seriously, it has to start there. They need something like Bitcoin. If you want to decrease their influence on the currency, get legitimate businesses to accept Bitcoin now. I am very fine with demand, no matter where it comes from. If Bitcoin catches on in this field, it will be a success. Pecunia non olet.

No problem in the short term. In the long term, trust would drop and that is the only thing that gives Bitcoin value.
Also, it can be a problem regarding the network’s hashrate and therefore overall security; if the price drops too low, mining incentive will certainly be reduced. A weak network isn’t exactly easy to trust, either.
