2761  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: pirateat40's end game on: April 25, 2012, 02:53:23 PM
It seems the community has voted with their BTC and do not think pirateat40 is going to have an "end game" anytime soon.

http://betsofbitco.in/item?id=349

Hrmmm...... All the debbie downers don't have any btc to bet.

Speaking of debbie downers, where is MPOE-PR when you need her?
Hey, the ratio is 5.7:27.28 or over 20% chance for a default before July 4th now, so that’s more than before.

People are starting to pick up the free money!
2762  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why do people think mining is less risky than buying, anyway? on: April 25, 2012, 02:50:18 PM
In other words, some of us aren't acquiring Bitcoins with the intention of converting them into fiat profits in the future.  Wink
You are clearly out of place here! Grin
2763  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoinica Under New Management on: April 25, 2012, 02:10:27 AM
A "Bitcoin Consultancy" with the aim to "to take bitcoin outside the world of tech geeks and hobbyists into the real world" now teams up with a semi-bucket shop?

As if running an exchange wouldn’t have put them in a biased enough role. That’s ridiculous.

I sure hope Zhoutong paid them well to be his secretary.
2764  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: pirateat40's end game on: April 24, 2012, 01:57:35 PM
Blatant, brazen scam through and through. A rating on #bitcoin-otc is the perfect 'in' and the ratings would snowball from the participants. A lot probably know it deep down, but will defend it publicly until they're ready to take their principal + "gains" out (of course they never are). The participants in pyramid schemes are just as guilty and will get what they deserve. Fractional monetary expansion always collapses.

The lack of transparency is completely anti-thetical to the principals of bitcoin. I trust bitcoin because the blockchain is a fully visible ledger.

Despite so many people being convinced that he's a scam, the "yes" bin on betsofbitco.in is not growing any larger. You'd think people would want to profit on something they are so sure of Roll Eyes
This is quite honestly how we should be handling many things all the time. Here’s the link: http://betsofbitco.in/item?id=349

Pirate is ponzi? Make some free money on it!
2765  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: GLBSE prediction market launched on: April 24, 2012, 08:52:22 AM
Subbed, this looks like an excellent development.

I think GLBSE should build its own and not rely on Inkling

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=77265.msg866035#msg866035
From what I have read in your posts, I agree. It wouldn’t even be difficult to implement on GLBSE directly, as it could just be made another type of asset.
2766  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The Ego and Its Own: Man by Max Stirner on: April 23, 2012, 02:08:23 PM
Noone is reading this bullshit.

You can stop now, Atlas.
2767  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: GLBSE - TOS Discussion Thread. on: April 23, 2012, 12:07:42 PM
Drugs and prostitution are not illegal everywhere. What laws specifically are you trying not to violate? Where is GLBSE registered?
Where are drugs legal? I don’t know of any jurisdiction allowing any besides alcohol, tobacco and cannabis.

My suggestions are to either

a) manually screen new assets before they IPO and give/deny permission (basically deny anything that is highly likely to get GLBSE in trouble)

or

b) pick a jurisdiction and enforce it according to its law
2768  Economy / Services / Re: GPUMAX | The Bitcoin Mining Marketplace on: April 23, 2012, 11:44:25 AM
Good luck with that. (Nevermind me, just wanted to get the first post in right after pirate's last.)

Hi MPOE-PR,

Once again you prove that you add no value to the conversation. On top of that, you lessen your own value by attacking others. I hope that you take the following advice to heart.

Think twice before you post something.

This simple piece of information may actually help you become a better participant on these forums. Only time will tell if you are able to learn and grow.

Best,
gigavps

Edit: I don't always follow this rule myself. We all have our flaws.
I apologize for continuing this offtopic, but I want to express that if someone is constantly posting shit, there is always the ignore button one can make use of. Smiley And that when enough people do that, there will be a nice shade of orange/brown on it, animating others to do the same.

looks like we side stepped all the BS and now we are going straight for the moon  Cool
Moon is so June 2011. This time, we are heading out for Mars.

So much for the weekend dip myth.
2772  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What to do when MTGOX gets shut down ? Are we ready for coincalypse ? on: April 20, 2012, 06:57:17 PM
I share your sentiment, Shadow, but I don’t believe anything can be done about it since it is less profitable and more difficult in the immediate future to use less liquid and fractured exchanges.

What is the harm in waiting until it happens?
What do you think was the harm with MyBitcoin?
2773  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What to do when MTGOX gets shut down ? Are we ready for coincalypse ? on: April 20, 2012, 06:49:06 PM
Free markets are reactive, not proactive.

Is that a rule that is always fixed in space-time continuum, or perhaps people could actually change that if they started working together at least a little ?
It is difficult to change human nature. Noone is really going to care until shit hits the fan since it’s not really worth worrying about it when it is so far in the future, and people believe they won’t be affected anyway.

The thing is, I and others trade on MtGox because they have the best liquidity, because I can trade large quantities without much slippage there. It’s a natural monopoly, and the MtGox market itself is so small and illiquid that it can hardly be justified retracting volume from it.

But it is a free market (other than Nefarios random regulations, more about his newest one later).
Goat, for the good of your business reputation, I'd advise you to get over your spat with Nefario and stop bringing it up in public all the time. It doesn't portray a good image. Regardless of who is at fault, it is better to resolve your differences through private means.
The business reputation of the guy whose post here I had to report because it revealed the password of his email account connected to his GLBSE account associated with 3 assets? Just check this potential disaster out: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=75047.msg831580#msg831580

Ah, that reputation.

Why?  We've done this dance before.
This one?

This so call rally will be short lived
I take it you are very short on the 'coinica. Grin
